Ohio Runs Out Of Pentobarbital, Can't Execute Convicts
Ohio said on Monday that it does not have enough of the lethal injection drug pentobarbital to carry out a scheduled execution next month. As Reuters reports, Ohio is the latest U.S. state to face a scarcity after the European manufacturer banned its sale for lethal injections of prisoners sentenced to death. The European Union is opposed to the death penalty (physical as opposed to economic) and has put pressure on US States to stop the practice. If only there was an anonymous online exchange where 'drugs' could be bought and sold to meet the demands of those looking for a quick fix (or multiple executions) despite the oversight of various freedoms by governments.

The Danish manufacturer of pentobarbital, Lundbeck LLC , has banned its sale to prisons or corrections departments for the death penalty. The European Union, of which Denmark is a member, is opposed to the death penalty and has put pressure on U.S. states to stop the practice.
On Monday, Ohio prison officials notified the state that Ohio does not have "sufficient quantity" of pentobarbital to carry out the execution of Ronald Phillips on Nov. 14, according to Department of Rehabilitation and Correction spokeswoman JoEllen Smith.
She said the state will turn to the drugs midazolam and hydromorphone, which are not commonly used in lethal injections, for the Phillips execution.
We almost hesitate to note the irony that perhaps as retribution for pervasive US spying, Europe will make sure America's terminal convicts are relegated to more obsolete methods of "expiration" - gallows, drawing and quartering, firing squad are just some that spring to mind.

I have long believed that the family of the victim should have the right to pull the lever or choose to allow the convicted to spend life in prison. I believe the state should try the accused; but leave the final decision to the family. This takes the power of life and death away from the state and puts it back into the hands of the agrieved - after the state has conducted a proper trial.
If the victims family is not convinced of the guilt of the accused; or if they believe extenuating circumstances exist - then they can choose to let him live.
In theory it sounds good. It is practiced in some countries using Sharia Law and it is abused.
The families of powerful and wealthy killers will coerce and bribe the victims family to take blood money. If the victims family doesn't agree then they can be threatened, have family members held as hostages or otherwise pressured.
The only safe option is allowing the victims family to make a plea (if they wish) for clemency but the Governor or other official to have the final word.
If the death penalty is only used for the worst of the worst beyond any doubt guilty then few would ask for clemency and it wouldn't be granted.
Send the sombitch to Fukushima. No drugs required.
While they're at it, send the rest of the death row inmates along with him.

Tylers , your news source is somewhat inaccurate ,,, Ohio has PLENTY of the drug , pentobarbital ,,, it is however "expired" and the doctor that is paid to administer the dose (prepare the dose .. whatever) will not do so .. that is why they were looking for a new supply ... and are now looking for a different drug. The reason the doctor will not prepare the dose has to do with the fact that he knows he will be attacked by lib support groups if he does. ***THIS IS NOT A JOKE***

I would have no problem killing a convicted murderer that has exhausted his or her appeals. I would not enjoy it, nor ask to be compensated, but would do it as a duty of the society I live in, if asked to do so. Leaving a job for others, dirty or otherwise, is not how I live my life.
I have no problem killing animals for food. I usually don't use a firearm; the bunnies above were killed by stepping on the head and yanking up on the legs to break the neck.
I have no problem shooting, stabbing, driving over, or killing someone with my bare hands, if death or serious bodily injury to me, or my loved ones, is imminent.

from my perspective (physician) there are several drugs that are not being replenished into the pipeline. Some are likely being 'regulated' (pain meds as the feds try to decrease 'over prescribing'). Other agents in short supply seem to be generic drugs in general. This means patients must fill the MUCH more expensive brand name equivalents.
I do not have time nor money to do the research to support my suspicions but I'd say the FDA is incompetent and criminal....but that is based on what I see not on good investigative reporting.

I think the issue is shortage of intravenous medications in general - much more difficult to manufacture compared to oral meds due to sterility issues. Brutal price pressure if they are generic.

However, I also think that hanging and beheading with an axe don't rise to the level of cruel and unusual punishment, as opposed to the State drawing and quartering its citizens.
Society often demands blood justice, for better or worse, and it is a largely accepted practice in the US. However, Society implements murder and extracts ITS pound of flesh through the State. And the State now has decided that it no longer requires Society or its Laws in order to take the life of its citizens, and may extract flesh of its own volition. This implies it no longer recognizes even a bastardization of drawing its authority through the Consent of the Governed. For having abused and overstepped its authority, I think it would be better to revoke the State's authority to take life, until such a time as it can be at least remotely trusted not to abuse such authority.

Traditional (and honorable) methods of humane (instantaneous) execution have long included hanging, firing squad, chopping block (guillotine), etc. In this case, the whiney-cryie bleeding-heart do-gooders have cornered themselves into a box of their own making, by substituting "overdose with their specific drug-of-choice after poking with needles" for these traditional methods. Some might even consider poking repeatedly with needles to be cruel & unusual punishment, physically or emotionally. Like everything else these days, their dilemma would be amusing, if it weren't totally insane.
If I kill someone with premeditation, it is murder.
If some weird intangible collective kills someone with premeditation, it is magically transubstantiated with the smack of a gavel into a rightful execution.
If I counterfeit fiat, it is a felony. If a central bank or a comercial bank counterfeits fiat, it is quantitative easing or fractional reserve banking respectively.
If I steal something, it is both a sin and a crime. If a government steals things, it is taxation
Time to level the playing field.
Let's see.........can't execute 1 prisoner in the US due to some lack of a drug yet the US has no problem killing dozens of innocent people on a daily basis thru the use of drones and often kill children as well and hardly anyone knows a fucking thing about it but watch them hang a killer in the US and watch what happens.
Is the US fucked up or are humans just plain fucking stupid?
