Obamacare Overseer Sebelius Faces The Music - Live Webcast
In yesterday's stage-setting drama, "coming in mid-November" replaced of the often heard "plead the fifth" as response of choice for Marilyn Tavenner (CMS Administrator). Today brings the main event, amid another server crash, as Kathleen Sebelius (HHS Secretary) takes the stand to explain healthcare.gov's shortcomings and how great it will all be at some point in the future if we just have some patience, spend a few more billions of taxpayer money on lines of code, and ignore the fact that the website is just the start of the problems with Obamacare... Her initial remarks (released early - below) are almost exactly the same as her testimony to Congress (and a carbon copy of Tavenner's remarks): “I want to assure you that HealthCare.gov can be fixed, and we are working around the clock to give you the experience that you deserve.”

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., speaking on the Senate floor, called Tuesday for Sebelius' resignation. Alexander is the top Republican on the Senate health panel.
"Mr. President, at some point there has to be accountability. Expecting this secretary to be able to fix what she hasn't been able to fix during the last three-and-a-half years is unrealistic," he said. "It's throwing good money after bad. It's time for her to resign -- someone else to take charge."

In written testimony released ahead of today's hearing, Sebelius vowed to improve the website and said the consumer experience to date is "not acceptable." But she defended the law itself and said extensive work and testing is being done.
"We are working to ensure consumers' interaction with HealthCare.gov is a positive one, and that the Affordable Care Act fully delivers on its promise," she said in the prepared remarks.
Sebelius blamed the website contractors and the "initial wave of interest" for the glitches, but expressed confidence in the experts and specialists working to solve "complex technical issues."
"By enlisting additional technical help, aggressively monitoring errors, testing to prevent new issues from cropping up, and regularly deploying fixes to the site, we are working to ensure consumers’ interaction with HealthCare.gov is a positive one, and that the Affordable Care Act fully delivers on its promise," she said.

It is sad to see a person that has NO IDEA of software development of software security try to answer basic questions about the incredibly screwed up system implementation of OBAMACARE. No reasonable private operator would put a politician in charge of making this type of decisions. She can't answer, she can't be responsible of something she obviously doesn't understand, the responsible people are the ones that gave this person the authority ro rule over what she doesn't understand at all, meaning the President and Congress.

As I understand it, the present policies being canceled include the low cost, high deductable catastrophic coverage, major medical ins (car accident, cancer or chronic long term illness). We all know what they are and why one would select that coverage. They are being canceled.
The inability to wait 1 (one) year to kick start this plan makes me think that there are more surprises that will come about and that delay in beginning the law could jeopardize their diabolical plan to send the sick to an early grave. Whatever else could it be?

The incompetence goes well beyond the HHS this is symptomatic of largess with no accountability, corrupt and incompetent individuals along with the same going on with the contractors. The place needs to be sweeped clean. As an example something I've heard about a certain data center keeps going on fire every time the try to fire it up to full capacity because the contractors didn't bother to wire the place with the right guage electrical wire to handle the current loads. How the fuck do you fuck that one up since it is a fairly straightfoward calculation to determine the correct wire guage and supposedly they didn't bother to wire it code to begin with forget about if you need to wire it above code for expanded load capacity. Who knows how much taxpayer money is being wasted on that boondoggle that could have been easily avoided if done right the first time around by doing some simple calculations in the first place.

I have not been able to find it from a source that I consider sufficiently unbiased, and what reference I do find suggests the number is the sum of a larger package that is only ACA work in part. There is a Washington Examiner (not to be confused with Examiner.com) article that breaks the notion of "no bid", but they attach no number in that article.
