America's Genetically Modified Foods - The Infographic
Are genetically modified foods, better known as GMOs, safe to eat? Although there is no definitive answer to this question yet, American consumers eat genetically engineered foods all the time. However, the maze of labeling laws makes choosing whether or not they want to eat them a totally different story.

If you can't raise your own food, buy organic. It will give you a little piece of mind. And only eat grass-fed beef if you can. There is something called the non-gmo project, but it is only small producers. Food is just another thing that will seperate the classes. The smart and rich will eat real food and the other 98% will consume poison. Be the 2%! I spend a small fortune to buy quality, real food and it is worth every penny.

The govt is out to kill us. Just look at this decades long promotion of sunscreen. Which is aimed at preventing anyone from absorbing any Vitamin D3. When an adequate level of D3 will prevent 75% of all cancers.
But they do not want us healthy, they just want us to die, slowly. With their chemo treatments and the rest of the bullshit. That cost $Billions.
They win, we lose. Unless, you just drop out of it, as I have.
Total waste of time and energy. Pretty much every grain available has been genetically tinkered with to resist pests, drought resistance and the like. Fruit trees been genetically tinkered with to bear more and better crops. I guess if you think flouride is some nazi/commie sneak attack then this GMO issue will probably send you over the cliff. We, as a society, are living longer and healthier. If that fact is lost on you, well, what can one possibly say to help you into the present and future.
We are living longer and healthier? I'll grant you that we're living longer, but that is because medical science extends lives every day with dramatic and costly interventions that give perhaps a few more months or years to live, at a reduced quality of life. My grandmother's doctors spent well over $100,000 to extend her life for four months. She left the hospital only to go to hospice care, where she died anyway. Was that worth it?
We are certainly not living healthier. Asthma, obesity, diabetes, and autism are at historically high levels and will only go higher. This is due to our lifestyles. We sit all day in hermetically sealed environments which causes the asthma increase. Use your favorite non-Google search engine with the phrase "Amish kids get allergies and asthma less". Obesity is caused by our sedentary lifestyles and abysmal diets. Diabetes is a side effect of the obesity epidemic and the ridiculous carbohydrate intake of the average 'Murican. Autism is speculated to have many possible causes, among them genetics, diet, and vaccinations. Whatever the cause, the incidence of autism has skyrocketed.
I guess your facts are lost on me, because I use scientific studies to get my facts. Oh well, my loss, I'm sure.
The subject is GMO, captain. And there is no getting around the fact that we are living longer which translates into healthier. However I will agree that we will eventually die. Happy? Good Grief.

No. If a fatal disease takes 5 years instead of one to kill you, you are living longer, and NOT living healthier.

That's a statistical mirage. The reason we are "living longer" is not because we are healthier, it is because we are not dying as infants, and not dying as much of trauma.
Once someone makes it to, say 30, there has not been a significant change in average lifespan for 1000s of years, especially if you exclude trauma. You are falling for the "average" bullshit.
The reason we are living longer "on average" is ALL about preventing infant/childhood mortailty, trauma care, and sedentary lifestyles, NOT about "eating healthier".
Living longer equals living healthier? Visit an assisted living center some time to see the results of poor diet and life extending drugs. Good Grief.
There is a big difference between selectivley breeding traits into the crops by ony saving seed from crops that express a certain desired trait like drought resistance. This has been done since....forever. GMO is cutting and splicing in in genes, often from unrelated species, to confer the traits yuou would like to see expressed in the crops. A GMO is a plant or animal that has been genetically modified through the addition of a small amount of genetic material from other organisms through molecular techniques. Currently, the GMOs on the market today have been given genetic traits to provide protection from pests, tolerance to pesticides, or improve its quality. Examples of GMO field crops include Bt-potatoes, Bt-corn, Bt-sweet corn, Roundup Ready soybeans, Roundup Ready Corn, and Liberty Link corn. In the case of Bt corn, the donor organism is a naturally occurring soil bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis, and the gene of interest produces a protein that kills Lepidoptera larvae, in particular, European corn borer. This protein is called the Bt delta endotoxin. Growers use Bt corn as an alternative to spraying insecticides for control of European and southwestern corn borer.
Buy organic whenever you can. There's plenty that's sold in regular supermarkets these days. Usually the price difference isn't all that bad, especially when you factor in weekly sales & private-label.
You can totally taste the difference. And once you start buying a particular thing, you'll never go back to the old stuff. I introduced organic stuff slowly but steadily, and I'm at about 80% these days. I look better & feel better because of it.
Several of my friends & family also eat 50-100% organic. And you can tell just by looking at them, as they look much younger & healthier.
No definitive results? Bullshit. The results are all over the map, on both a health and political level. Monsanto, Conagra and Arthurs Daniels Midland are poisoning the Food Supply for profit. Farmers in India commit suicide by the Truckload. Obesity, ADHD and Diabetes are Epidemic. This is a coincidence? Gimmee a break.

Likely the source of America's obesity epidemic, which started in the 1970s, right around the same time as the widespread use of GMO foods being pumped into America's food supply.
GMO link to cancer and weight gain is scary when you consider so many Americans feed these foods to their children from birth.

This was also the time when fat became the demon and sugar and carb consumption ballooned which are the more likely obesity culprits. Of course the GMO foods are heavy on nutritionless carbs so it is related.
The 70's were also the advent of disco music which could be a contributing factor.

Potatoes are non-gmo.
I grow potatoes for that reason and save my potatoes for seed for next year's potato planting.
This year, I planted over 700 pounds of seed of four different potato varieties. Kennebec, good for fries, chips and baking, Red Vikings, Banana fingerlings, and Yellow Finn.
I probably killed 20,000 potato bugs because potato bugs eat all of the leaves on the potato plant and your potato plants end up looking like sticks. I have a my own secret method for picking potato bugs that is very efficient. Products like Garden Guard are useless to control potato bugs.
I never use pesticides or herbicides. Don't be fooled, 'organic' farmers do use pesticides and herbicides. Grow your own organic food.
Anybody eat field corn? GMO corn, the Roundup Ready kind, lives on after Roundup is sprayed on all of the weeds that grow along with the planted gmo corn. All of the weeds die.
Don't use Canola oil. It is formerly called rape seed and is a good oil for lubricating small machines like a sewing machine. Never consume Canola oil. The same for soybean oil, never consume it.
Brussels sprouts were killer this year.
Two heads are better than one, even if one is a cabbage head.
Zucchini, cabbage, green beans, egg plant, broccoli, pumpkins, squash, several varieties, potatoes, tomatoes, kohlrabi, garlic, onions (biggest onions I ever saw was this year), leeks, popcorn, sweet corn *bodacious* a great sweet corn, beets, carrots, slicing cucumbers Marketmore 76, pickling cucumbers, Chicago or Boston, watermelon, and parsnips were all in the garden this year.
It was a very good year.
We had a sweet potato start sprouting in the bag (didn't get around to using it, obviously). The blossoms were so beautiful, my girlfriend potted it and we're now growing a couple.
We've been genetically modifying food since the dawn of agriculture. Now that we are getting really good at it, it's bad.

Selective breeding and genetic modification are light years apart.
You will never get frog genes mixed in a selective breeding program. The frogs will not cooperate and neither will the plants.

All published peer reviewed research to date has shown that there is no correlation between GMO food and disease.
The issue lies with the use of glyphosate and it persistence in the environment. Glyphosate can stay in the soil up to 150 days and can be found in the seed of sprayed crops. It is a biocide, it can harm the micro flora in the digestive system. Glyphosate is used regularly as a crop harvest aid which negates the use of GMO/non GMO labeling.
The cross pollination of GMO with non GMO is well documented in corn, grasses, and canola, not so much in soybeans. In short, the cow is out of the barn already.
Live with good knowledge on food and worry about the financial debacle that is coming. Pick your fears and make sure to prioritize them.
GMOs promote Evolution by selectively removing the miscegeneticovores; ask your children's children when you get a chance.
Good luck wating for .gov to label your food for you, considering the FDA is full of former agri-giant lawyers. For those unwilling to wait for mommy to help, get youself eductated and plug into your local food system. My wife and I consume 0 gmo's. Save yourself.

2- Growing your own vegetables and fruits is the answer, but all veggies are not created equal. The book "Eating On the Wild Side" by Jo Robinson is a valuable resource tapping into hundreds of reports on how some vegetables varieties are more nutritious than others. Example: varieties with purple and dark green colors (among other characteristics) offer the most nutrition. Iceberg lettuce is next to worthless, but red loose leaf varieties are the best.
