Are Conspiracy Theories The Biggest Threat To Democracy?

Tyler Durden's picture

What is the common element between Liborgate, the Fed manipulating capital markets, China hoarding gold, and the recent ubiquotous NSA spying revelations? At one point, before they became fact, they were all "conspiracy theories" as were the Freemasons, the Illuminati, McCarthy's witch hunts, 9/11, and so many more. The same theories, which - don't laugh - are now part of a Cambridge University study titled Conspiracy and Democracy,  which looks at the prevalence of conspiracy theories and what they tell us about trust in democratic societies, about the differences between cultures and societies, and why conspiracy theories (ostensibly before they become fact) appear at particular moments in history. But, at its core, whether conspiracy theories will, as the BBC summarizes, it, eventually destroy democracy.

Because, supposedly, it is not the corruption at the top echelons of government, the ultimate usurpation of power by assorted globalist money groups "never letting a crisis go to waste", that plunder wealth from what is left of the middle class and hands it over, via latent inflation, asset bubbles and capital appreciation to the 1% peak of society's wealth pyramid (in the US), or kleptofascist, unelected bureaucratic groups seeking the "greater good" despite the complete tear of the social fabric (in Europe) that is a threat to democracy.

No - you see it is evil conspiracy theories and the theorists that spin them that are the biggest threat to the "democratic" way of life.

The BBC has more on this amusing, if potentially troubling, avenue:

"The reason we have conspiracy theories is that sometimes governments and organisations do conspire," says Observer columnist and academic John Naughton. It would be wrong to write off all conspiracy theorists as "swivel-eyed loons," with "poor personal hygiene and halitosis," he told a Cambridge University Festival of Ideas debate. They are not all "crazy". The difficult part, for those of us trying to make sense of a complex world, is working out which parts of the conspiracy theory to keep and which to throw away.

Mr Naughton is one of three lead investigators in a major new Cambridge University project to investigate the impact of conspiracy theories on democracy.

The internet is generally assumed to be the main driving force behind the growth in conspiracy theories but, says Mr Naughton, there has been little research into whether that is really the case. He plans to compare internet theories on 9/11 with pre-internet theories about John F Kennedy's assassination.

Like the other researchers, he is wary, or perhaps that should be weary, of delving into the darker recesses of the conspiracy world.

"The minute you get into the JFK stuff, and the minute you sniff at the 9/11 stuff, you begin to lose the will to live," he told the audience in Cambridge.

Like Sir Richard Evans, who heads the five-year Conspiracy and Democracy project, he is at pains to stress that the aim is not to prove or disprove particular theories, simply to study their impact on culture and society.

Impact on culture and society... and then judge: because if heaven forbid the fabled institution of higher learning that is Cambridge - the progenitor of many a statist thinkers - finds that conspiracy theories are a danger to fine, upstanding, democratic society... then what?

Why are we so fascinated by them? Are they undermining trust in democratic institutions?

No, but a far better question is do conspiracy "theories", at least until confirmed, simply provide the beholder with a far more skeptical view of a world than the one spoon fed by a complicit media, whose sole purpose is to perpetuate and multiply - hence enrich - the advertising dollars of the status quo? And is the long overdue questioning of everything that emanates from institutions of power a bad thing, or were people simply too lazy to think for themselves and let the government do it, at least until said "cognitive outsourcing" led to the second great depression of 2008?

David Runciman, professor of politics at Cambridge University, the third principal investigator, is keen to explode the idea that most conspiracies are actually "cock-ups".

"The line between cock-up, conspiracy and conspiracy theory are much more blurred than the conventional view that you have got to choose between them," he told the Festival of Ideas.

"There's a conventional view that you get these conspirators, who are these kind of sinister, malign people who know what they are doing, and the conspiracy theorists, who occasionally stumble upon the truth but who are on the whole paranoid and crazy. "Actually the conspirators are often the paranoid and crazy conspiracy theorists, because in their attempt to cover up the cock-up they get drawn into a web in which their self-justification posits some giant conspiracy trying to expose their conspiracy.

"And I think that's consistently true through a lot of political scandals, Watergate included."

Such a "complex" and profoundly introspective theory - truly something only a Cambridge professor could come up with.

[Runciman] is also examining whether the push for greater openness and transparency in public life will fuel, rather than kill off, conspiracy theories.

"It may be that one of the things conspiracy theories feed on as well as silence, is a surfeit of information. And when there is a mass of information out there, it becomes easier for people to find their way through to come to the conclusion they want to come to.

"Plus, you don't have to be an especial cynic to believe that, in the age of open government, governments will be even more careful to keep secret the things they want to keep secret. "The demand for openness always produces, as well as more openness, more secrecy."

You mean... like the NSA spying on everyone to be abreast of just what everyone knows?

Or does that mean that the Fed's faux transparency affair is nothing but a red herring designed to redirect attention from the Fed's true intentions somewhere else?

Unpossible.

That said, having been accused of a conspiratorial bent on a few occasions, we kinda, sorta see where this is going, and will go so far as to venture that in a few years, the Cambridge study's conclusions (which certainly will cast all paranoid and crazy conspirators in a culpable light and worth of "social isolation"), will be escalated to enforce that anyone found of harboring "conspiratorial" thoughts will be bound and shackled in whatever WIFI-free dungeon the local host Big Brother government has created precisely for this ulterior subclass of humans.

But for now - conspire away... and upon exposing the deep lies beneath the surface of "democracy" - since the mainstream media simply refuses to be painted in the same paranoid and crazy brush - remember to promptly depart for the "evil undemocratic empire" that is Russia...

Have you ever heard of the Ingun command whose hero leaders were none other than Menachem Begin and Yitzshac Shamir .  Committed genocide by murdering hundreds of innocent, unarmed men women and children at a time in Palestinian villages in the 40's.  Went in under the cover of darkness with terrorists and over time shot, bombed and burned thousands of innocent Palestinians creating fear and causing them to abandon what was their territory to the Zionists who later formed isreal in 1948.  Somehow the King David Hotel was leveled in what appeared to be an Irgun attack on the British Office of Palestinian Affairs in the middle of all of this.  Don't bother looking at the revisionist history that fails to go into the true detais of the history of Isreal or the history of Palestine.  There is more to the story than the one sided Nazi holocaust genocide narriative that they teach kids in the US public school system.  No consipracy there.

No I haven't heard of it, so I do not deny it's occurence. Denying the existance of the Holocaust is veiled anti-semitism. It always has been. Obviously know one knows 100% what happened in history and why, but some of the fairly well documented events, like World War II, are well enough known that someone picking out certain parts of it to dismiss requires an agenda - or possibly the need to get attention. Either way, it displays ignorance, and a dangerous type of ignorance at that.

American children are taught we fought WWII to save the Jews and stop the Holocaust. Yet, American soldiers didn't even know it was going on until they arrived in Germany near the end of the war.

Stalin killed more Jews than Hitler

Why do you have to capitalize Holocaust?

Jews were actually a minority at the prison camps, which held prisoners of war, dissidents, etc

The prison camps were used for forced labor, not gruesome experiments and making human lampshades. There were atrocities committed, but none greater than almost any other country during wartime. American school children are never taught what went on in Japanese prison camps, or the Rape of Nanking.

The mass graves were the result of logistics and losing a war.  The orders to kill all prisoners were sent out from the top of the command structure and carried out by SS operatives. Regular prison guards and stationed soldiers were long gone before the act was carried out.

Check out the census records of the number of Jews living in Europe before WWII and the records after the war. Subtract the number of Jews reportedly killed during the Holocaust from the pre WWII number and see if it matches the post census numbers.

Some of the real counts of Holocaust victims put the number close to half a million. Nowhere near the millions killed claim.

Were Jews killed in prison camps? Yes, along with christians, German citizens, Austrians, Poles, French, Belgians, etc.

Quite a few Japanese who were US citizens died in US internment camps. They weren't put in gas chambers, but they died as a result of the conditions in the camps. Not so different from German prison camps.

I can go on an on and on. The point is what is generally accepted as the truth about the Holocaust is a blatant lie. A fabricated story to create sympathy for a select group of people so they could take land believed to be entitled to them. That isn't denying the Holocaust, it is simply an attempt to find the truth.

If the events happened exactly as said, it wouldn't be illegal to look into them.

Government is the conspiracy. A conspiracy of thugs and thieves. Those of the US government are nothing more than treasonous thugs and thieves stealing and killing wherever they look and go.

Good riddance the papertiger when the day comes.

blah. Back your claims with actual evidence. Look: Government is not the conspiracy. It is by no means a conspiracy of thugs and thieves. Those of the US government are more than the best and brightest, which will save of all from ourselves and provide the best environment for human freedom to thrive.

My claim holds just as much merit as yours currently. If you have no actual fact or logical idea to represent and argue, you have nothing but baseless propaganda. No, not even that - just a fucking episode of whining.

bunz3,

The government has been infiltrated with lobbyists. Those with money have their interests represented. Those who don't have lots of money and are not a part of the organized lobbying system, do not get their interests represented. It is as easy to see as simple math. Corporations own the government = conspiracy. The question becomes how tight knit is the conspiracy. I am not of a mind to think that this stuff is as organized as some will give it credit for, but absolutely, it is a conspiracy. I don't need to go to fruit-loop land to see that much. It is in the facts, it cannot be helped.

Yes, there is always a conspiracy. Everything (humanly controllable) that happens, in general, is planned by someone(s) at some point. That doesn't mean that spouting nonsense without some intellectual backing is productive. There is argument for and against every idea. But without an actual argument, you are just pandering or masturbating with words.

I have exactly ZERO fear of conspiracy theorists.  They serve a useful purpose.  They may often be wrong, but not always.

How many times has ZH been accused of this, just to be proven right days, weeks, months or years later?

Let them put their theories out for public examination.  We will sort it out.  I am NOT a conspiracy guy, by my nature, yet I have had my eyes opened by those that are, on rare occasion.

Let them speak.  They are not the enemy of 'Democracy' or anyone else.  We're good enough to pick the wheat from the chaff.

I am finishing up college right now and can tell you that in my history classes I've had they never discuss anything about the international financiers and Zionists who have had a major hand in many of these turning points where liberty is ceded for 'security',  and wars. They love the new deal and communists like FDR and never talk about how it was the Fed that inflated the 20s bubble that led to malinvestment to be liquidated. Instead they love to talk about how it was the 'inevitable failure of capitalism' that ushered in the 'need' for statism.

Yes, the cock-up should ALWAYS be the first attempt at explaining away bizarre and damaging behavior by government officials. Agreed. Now and forever. But.

- How is it will still don't know -- almost six months after the fact -- WHO was in the room when Ibragim Todashev was shot, let alone who pulled the trigger?

- Why hasn't anyone in a position to do so pressed for a definative answer to the common sense question -- given the circumstances -- Was Jill Kelley a counter-terrorism informant for FBI agent Fred Humphries?

And so on.

What these Cambridge gents have in mind is classifying critical, disruptive thought as dysfunctional, suspect, and ultimately unfit for their brand of "democratic" ie group think society.

Keeping an open mind is a bad thing? It represents my position. I don't know if 9-11 was the government deliberately fucking us over with an overt plan to take down the building, or a situation where they turned their attention away from someone else's plan because it served their interests, or if it happened mostly as reported.

It is okay not to know and to keep an open mind about what happened.

What I am aware of is very creepy. I have seen them act in such criminal ways that I have to be open to the idea that they at least "let it happen." But I am an asshole if I claim I "know for sure."

Ambiguity is a legitimate space to occupy. Knocking that is a mistake.

Edit: Liminality is an even better word. "I don't know but I doubt" fills the space. It is not a sin to be suspicious. It is also not a sin to refrain from prosecution until you do "know."

We may part ways on this. I think it is okay for them to "hedge" on ZeroHedge. I think they "don't know" and respect that the readership has many opinions. I don't see that as lacking integrity. I see it as having integrity, unless they think they can throw down and "prove" one position or another, just like they are willing to do on so many issues that they turn out to be correct on, issues that I do not have the insight or knowledge of actual facts/processes to make a similar stand.

Are they a little commercial now and trying to make a living. Yeah. Do I think that has become rot that has sunk into the bones of the thing? Not yet. Do I think they try to think of what their readers are interested in knowing about? Of course. But do I see them as sell outs? NO.

I agree to disagree. I think more could be done to present balanced ideas. I definately enjoy the fact based economic articles, but I have never seen anything on this site that supports the rather obvious case that gold prices are decaying to their historic inflation adjusted norms. If gold goes up, well that is just smart people buying. If gold goes does, IT MUST BE A CONSPIRACY OF EVIL BANKERS. Everything here seems to be fear-and-hate-mongering meant to convince lemmings who think they are different to buy into very certain ideas and therefore products.

Actually I have explained it.

"They" can be rational, conspiratorial, and profitable all at the same time, whereas most lemmings would have difficulty walking and chewing gum at the same time.

But that does not mean that every down-move in the markets is the result of an act of conspiracy among certain omnipresent large market participants.

Unfortunately, conspiracy theorists and the PM Pimps tend to shout the loudest and most frequently.

Step 1: Own a lot of gold.

Step 2: Know that long term gold prices are lower than they are now.

Step 3: Short gold to hedge your current holdings.

Step 4: Start selling gold.

Step 5: Start experimenting with the frequency and volume at which you sell gold.

Step 6: Determine which selling patterns net you the most profit based on BOTH your sale price and the price reaction of your short positions.

Step 7: Keep on going until it's gone.

I would assume the "monkey hammering" is due to holders buying leveraged short positions, and trying to see the extent of what can be made on these positions during different times.

9-11 was an act which the government knew about in advance and let happen or was directly involved in its execution. Either way the official story is a lie that has been continued by the media and government officials. Call it a conspiracy theory or what ever you want but the evidence points to the government having knowledge of an imminent attack and likely some faction within the government was an accomplice to the atrocity. The only hope for our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC is that this truth is set free and the perpetrators are caught and punished.

My theory is that Cheney et. al. were told an attack by AlQaeda was forthcoming, and they agreed not to thwart it.  Before it happened they didn't realize the attack was really a false flag, and the incompetent Arabs who they were told were going to carry it out, had nothing to do with it. There probably wasn't an Arab or Muslim within 1,000 miles of the attacks lol.

The Bush admin was only in power for 9 months before 9-11, and they wouldn't have had nearly enough time to plan it.  This theory would explain why Cheney ordered the aircraft (or Global Hawk, or whatever) approaching the Pentagon not to be shot down (see Norman Mineta testimony), why troops were supposedly pre-positioned in Afghanistan, etc.  It would also explain why Bush and Cheney didn't want and tried to thwart the investigation, since they could be blackmailed at that point.

This explanation is consistent with every fact I'm aware of.

No need to speculate. We know that the official story cannot be true because we can see with certainty that WTC 7 was a controlled demolition. We don't have to know how, or why, to see that it is a certainty. Once people accept that much, only then, will they be open to the somewhat less certain evidence on how or why.

If the official story is not true, then the perps are still at large.  Trying to identify them and their motivations (possibly through a process of elimination) would help one assess what other nasty surprises they have in store for us.

After a spectacular success like 9-11, I doubt they're sitting on their hands.

"Mathias Broeckers: In January 1967, shortly after Jim Garrison in New Orleans had started his prosecution of the CIA backgrounds of the murder, the CIA published a memo to all its stations, suggesting the use of the term “conspiracy theorists” for everyone criticizing the Warren Report findings. Until then the press and the public mostly used the term “assassination theories” when it came to alternative views of the “lone nut” Lee Harvey Oswald. But with this memo this changed and very soon “conspiracy theories” became what it is until today: a term to smear, denounce and defame anyone who dares to speak about any crime committed by the state, military or intelligence services. Before Edward Snowden anyone claiming a kind of total surveillance of internet and phone traffic would have been named a conspiracy nut; today everyone knows better."

I guess I am assuming (therefore could be wrong) you mean the Jesus-related God when you spout your stupidity, but here goes...

Romans 13:1-7

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

Feel stupid yet? There's a lot more.

The Bible teaches to use spiritual warfare, not the sword. All that matters is eternity, and God has given each of us a way to be with Him forever. Just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything prophecized in the Bbile is unfolding. Just look at all the apostate churches and wolves in sheep's clothing pastors peddling health and wealth gospel rather than preaching against sin. All of this will continue to work towards a one world religion under the Antichrist who will call himself the messiah and will be all things to all people, but he is the devil, and God has already defeated the Devil at the Cross. The Christians will not accept the mark of the beast.

You are clearly referring to Romans 13:1-10, and you do not understand.  Nothing exists except by the will of God, including government and leaders.  This is quite different than saying the government does God´s will... the government exists and has its authority by the will of God; it does not follow that the government does God´s will.  The point of Romans 13 is to avoid revolts, avoid open and violent conflict with authority, to pay the taxes required by government, and treat government officials with respect, kindness, and love... just as Christians are to treat all human beings.  It is a reminder that Christianity is not a political movement: that Christians should not view human government as a means to bring about salvation.  As we are told many times in the bible, the only truly just government will be the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

"For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended."

You should not fear your earthly rulers, not because they will not kill you, or imprison you unjustly (they killed Peter and Paul and many others after all), but because if you live as a Christian, earthly powers have no power over you eternal salvation.

We know we are supposed to be living under a republic right? Somehow we ended up with a democracy which is looking pretty ugly.

Let's be honest...states have little to no rights any longer. Congress lost control over money. Schumer wants to eliminate the debt ceiling (right now there is no debt ceiling...literally NO DEBT CEILING). Kerry says the President has unilateral authority to attack other countries. The NSA spies on everyone. Jouranlists are spied on. The Federal government now has the purview to dictate healthcare. Opposing political parties are punished with federal resources. Big Business is in bed with the government.

Forget individual freedom. Forget liberty. Forget the Republic.

What are we really living under? It's not freedom that's all I know.

Conspiracy Theory - 9/11 was an inside job

Empirical evidence - 2 aircraft impacted 2 buildings, 3 buildings fell into their footprints at near the speed of gravity

Conspiracy:

1. An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act. 2. A group of conspirators. 3. Law An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action. 4. A joining or acting together, as if by sinister design

Theory:

1. A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

2. abstract knowledge or reasoning

3. a speculative or conjectural view or idea  4. an ideal or hypothetical situation (esp in the phrase in theory) 5. a set of hypotheses related by logical or mathematical arguments to explain and predict a wide variety of connected phenomena in general terms 1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena:   2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural.

A new study shows that 9/11 responders had a 239% increase in thyroid cancer and a 36% increase in leukemia.  Gee, I wonder what could have caused that.  Not asbestos, because its large particles have difficulty leaving the lungs.  The thyroid cancer is pretty much a smoking nuke.

http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/04/24/1908761/study-first-responder...

Also, people were finding molten slag in the basement even months after the whole site was hosed down.  This would require a ridiculous amount of nanothermite or a persistent heat source.  Something like neutron activation after the buildings were taken down with neutron bombs.  Nuclear vaporization of the buildings' structural cores would also explain the buildings leaving less debris than expected.  It would explain the iron spherules (generally seen as evidence of nanothermite).  A nuclear shaped charge could explode in one direction to vaporize the cores without blowing out the windows.

Veterans Today has a whole series on this.

http://www.veteranstoday.com/?s=9%2F11+neutron+bomb&x=0&y=0

The Dancing Israelis make even more sense now.  This was a test of their mini neutron bombs.  Jihadists never had the competence to pull off something like this.  They also would not have had the foresight to kill the auditors called to an emergency meeting in the empty wing of the Pentagon the day after they announced that 2.3 trillion dollars had "vaporized", etc, etc.

I do not know much about 9/11, but I have some knowledge of nuclear physics. I can therefore assure you, that no nuclear detonation has happened there. That would have been much, much more powerful. But I think I got a least an idea, where radioactivity, which caused these cancers, could have derived from: Did you know that depleted Uranium is used as weight to trim the wings of big airplanes? There you have several pounds of radioactive material, which of course got dispersed.

Sat, 11/02/2013 - 21:47 | 4115900 New World Chaos
New World Chaos's picture

I looked up the trim weights and they are huge, of order 1 ton of DU per 747.   WTF?  Why not use tungsten?  It is cheap to lease from your local CIA-affiliated bullion bank.

Most of the DU cancers would be from alpha particles emitted by dust stuck in the lungs.  Thyroid cancers are different.  They are mostly caused by genetic conditions or by iodine-131, which comes from fission, not from the usual decay chain of uranium.  There is a small fraction of uranium which decays by spontaneous fission, without being hit by a neutron.

The spontaneous fission half life of depleted uranium is 8.3 quadrillion years.  The half life of iodine-131 is 8 days, so assume there will always be 8 days worth of iodine-131 in any sample of DU.  About 3% of fission products, by weight, will be iodine-131.  1 ton * 2 aircraft * 3% * 8 days / 8.3 quadrillion years = 0.16 trillionths of a gram of iodine-131 in the trim weights.  That's 64 trillionths of a Chernobyl.  6000 (documented) Chernobyl thyroid cancers means we should expect of order 0.00000038 thyroid cancers from iodine-131 in the trim weights.  Maybe a bit more due to population density.

Are you sure it's impossible to make a tiny nuke?  Wikipedia says the yield can be as low as 1 ton of TNT for a fission device, and 1 kiloton for a neutron bomb (which is fission + fusion).  Suspect you're right about a 1 kiloton blast being uncontainable even in the basement, but the smallest yields are classified so they are probably less than what's on Wikipedia.

Come to think of it, vaporizing the core would blow out windows.  There would have been doors into the core, and some of the floors were completely open plan, so jets of hot gas and debris would have blasted out of the core and gone straight for the windows.  Overpressure alone could blow them.  Better to put the nuke in the basement and vaporize only the bottom of the structural core, thus causing the building to collapse internally while the outside shell temporarily conceals the internal collapse.  This is consistent with how the north tower fell.   Not sure what fraction of spherules would have made it out of the basement.  Maybe they used nanothermite too.

P.S. I didn't junk you.  The DU angle was worth investigating.

P.P.S.  Anyone try to sniff out depleted uranium at the Shanksville "crash site"?  I bet it's not there.

Are Conspiracy Theories The Biggest Threat To Democracy?

The biggest conspiracy theory to date is the official fairy tale that 19 hijackers with box cutters could hijack 4 airliners and fly them unerringly to their targets without any training and the US Air Force stands down for 1 hour and 20 minutes and steel-framed buildings collapse at free-fall speed into their footprints in spectacular pyroclastic flows for the only time in history and the submicron dust has thermite  That conspiracy theory is the biggest threat to democracy if not one's credulity.

What is this democracy that you talk about in the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Jimmy Carter says it succinctly "US has no functioning democracy."

Of course, US media would not report that statement as it may disturb some sheeple.  It was only reported in a German newspaper.

It is rather hard to lose democracy in the land of the free if you don't have it in the first place.

Where did I lose that wallet that had a billion dollars?

To understand the world, you must consider the possibilities. If you presume all people act independently with either good, bad or neutral motives, you neglect other possibilities. From the beginning of time. man has acted with others to achieve ends. The others might have been their family, their tribe or their nation. Others have formed cabals for evil, such as the mafia or Madoff's group. To consider the possibility of conspiracies is to face the reality of human interactions. George Washington deplored the formation of political parties, as groups conspiring (in secret) or acting in public to reach ends benefiting their group over others in a democracy. Thus to ignore conspiratorial or publicly known group acts is to allow democracy to be subverted from the will of the people to the will of the organized.

The truth is conspiracies have always existed and to deny is to become the victim of those conspiracies. This is not to say all claimed conspiracies are real, but that the possibility cannot be ignored. "Things are not what they seem, skim milk masquerades as cream," ` Gilbert and Sullivan

What's really strange, is that the stories are being somewhat ambiguous about what that literature means.  Some of the articles leave it to the reader's imagination to believe that the shooter is in favor of the NWO.  Seems like an odd spin for folks that would likely know better.  Not to mention the fact that it is odd that someone would carry literature on their person while going to likely die...just like a passport conveniently falling from the sky to be found on a city street.

"What can government do about conspiracy theories?  Among the things it can do, what should it do? We can readily imagine a series of possible responses. (3) Government might itself engage in counterspeech, marshaling arguments to discredit conspiracy theories. (4) Government might formally hire credible private parties to engage in counterspeech. (5) Government might engage in informal communication with such parties, encouraging them to help.  Each instrument has a distinctive set of potential effects, or costs and benefits, and each will have a place under imaginable conditions.  However, our main policy idea is that government should engage in cognitive infiltration of the groups that produce conspiracy theories, which involves a mix of (3), (4) and (5). Isn't Cass the same guy who invented "sidewalks for the internet"?  Seriously.  That was a good idea. Not everyone has a car.  Then again bikes shouldn't be on the sidewalk and skateboards... well, skateboards should be outlawed... I guess.  Then again they do create a steady supply of involuntary organ donors.  That was another Sunsteinism.  I'm seeing the connection now.  Okay, skateboards should be allowed in the road and everyone is opted-in as donors at birth.  Because?  Because... Obama.

The oligarchy and a small percentage of their cronies are the only ones who benefit materially, but even they lose overall. What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose the soul of his humanity? Then he is left with the soul of animals.

You are on the wrong site to be playing a Full Retard. You just CAN'T be this stupid...can you??........Oh yes you can........

The Pentagon: 1 hole in the wall, made by the fuselage of the aircraft so the reports say...........THE FUESLAGE????, thats the hollow bit where the people sit, made of thin sheet metal, and various aluminium bulkheads........thats the bit that drove a hole through Several re-enforced walls, so retards like you think...............The Engines, (the plane had two of them, supposedly) thats the really heavy, solid bits, made from titanium and inconel, didnt even dent the wall. If you are too fucking retarded to understand the BASIC PHYSICS problems here, you really should just chop your cock off and eat it (if you have'nt already) because the world really does'nt need more utterly clueless willing slaves like yourself.

Are you really so stupid that you can't work that out for yourself and need to be told what to think? No wonder you need an EBT card and the help of superior people to survive, I am amazed you have the intelligence to chew food.

just ignore Bunz.....its like talking to a retard who is drunk.

Oh shit, time to do some mathz:

Plane used was a Boeing 757, the empty weight of which is 127,000 lbs

The engines composing part of this weight are ~7100 lbs each

127,000 - 2(7100) = 112,800 lbs

SO - the weight of everything OTHER than the engines was 112,800. I would say the fuselage makes up the majority of that.

Now whats that Energy formula again?!  E = 1/2 * m * v^2

Now, one can reasonably expect the fuselage and engines to be traveling at the same velocity, so the fuselage had approximately 10 times more energy to dissipate than an individual engine.

Have you actually taken a physics class or do you just like to talk about it?

Are you implying that the wings weighed nothing? Wings, due their necessity to support the aircraft tend to be among the strongest structures in an aircraft. What happened to them?

Which part of the aircraft do you think has the greatest density, the fuselage, the engines or the wings?

No, if you look at the simple math shown, my estimation of the fuselage containing 10 times the kinetic energy of each engine actually implies that the wings weigh ~40,000 lbs, or about 1/3 of the airplane weight. This is a more than generous estimate since I was unable to find any data on wing weight. And your question of density is irrelevant, it is the kinetic energy per meter^2 that would affect the ability to damage a building. Given that the fuselage would make the first and most direct hit (and apply the majority of kinetic energy), anyone who had a decent grasp on physics would understand that the fuselage has the best chance of breaching a fortified structure.

But hey, believe whatever you want.

Think about why a projectile that's a 1000-kg solid hunk of rock will do a lot more damage than a thousand 1-kg rock projectiles all traveling in a bunch, given same velocity.

Jet engines survive high-speed crashes, or at least remain a mangled piece of expensive steel and super-hard exotic metals, while the fuselage, wings, and everything else is confetti.

Why would that be?  Kinetic energy alone can't explain it.  What does?

And think about what could be done to make the black boxes survive high-speed crashes along with the engines.  Same answer applies to both.  Hint is a word that begins with an E.

OK I posted this respnose in the wrong forum....earlier

Governments always need to be placed under constant scrutiny. They should be made to explain the what why and wherefores of everything they do and plan to do. Transparency should be forced upon them, they should be pressured to answer the hard questions.

This used to be the job of the mainstream media.

The MSM has been a total failure in the USA, they have tossed away their responsibility and got on their hands and knees for the never ending cock sucking of Congress, POTUS and the oligachs.

The same corruptness that owns the media are owned by those that control POTUS Whitehouse and Congress...... there is nothing left but a few hold-outs and on-line non-MSM...

Do people forget that politicians are chosen by the public to manage their afairs for them....just as a business owner employs managers to run things for them......Is the owner allowed to know what the manager has been doing....the what why and when of the business operations??

Citizens are the owners of the country....politicians are elected to be their mangers/representatives in the management of the business.  There should be NO question about transparency and them being accountable in all respects to the public..their owners.

Except when the criminals get control of all the levers...then you are fucked...there is no returning when the criminals control all the means.

The citizens of the USA are done for...there is no means to retain control now...bit by bit all rights and liberties will be taken away ... by stealth and blatantly....because who is going to do anything...who is going to warn or inform the public? Nobody.

And when the system crashes...it will be a controled crash so the same groups stay in charge.

The US needs a WWIII that it LOSES... for any chance of the public regaining some controls.

Rubbish! Science doesn't make anyone a god, but it is a process of exploring reliable and useful changes based only on one's independent observations.

Greatness! Science does however give one a shot on goal, thinking for oneself, rather than eating up Dogma which guarantees the chains of protectors.

So, we shout out for help and alert everyone to the  discovery of conflicting information in a major story and before ya know it, you are on God Like Productions comparing notes.

Tear down the nonsense, the players and the costumes, and find it is simply theft in many forms, accomplished through bribes.  Not your garden variety white collar crime.  This comes with a full orchestra in the background.  Anderson and Wolfe sing.

After the Cuban crisis, Kennedy threatened to shatter the Nazi CIA into a thousand pieces. They had promoted the idea of Operation Northwoods - killing Americans in order to whip up support for war and other federal plots. Kennedy rejected their dispicable plot, but the men who approved it also trained and promoted the senior commanders who occupied high office in the CIA since then, and now.

Let's try something simpler, such as some multiple choice questions. Okay?

Question: Whom is more likely telling the truth from their knowledge of events about the attack on the US Consulate and Ambassador in Benghazi Libya?

A) Presidential spokesperson James Carney;
B) (Former) Secretary of State Hilary Clinton;
C) President Barack Obama;
D) Secretary of State John Kerry;
E) an anonymous Diplomatic Security Service operator in sealed testimony before a Congressional Committee;
F) A local Libyan Al Qaeda spokesman;
G) Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation?

Answer: The correct answers are E, F and G.

Between 1776-1788, Edward Gibbons The History Of The Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire.
Gibbons listed five basic reasons that the enormous Roman Empire was destroyed:

1 - The dramatic increase of divorce undermined the institution of the family.

2 - The imposition of higher taxes undermined the economic stability and vitality of the Empire. Taxes were raised to pay for deficit government spending, to pay for food for all in society and to pay for government-sponsored activities of diversion, such as circuses and sports. Interestingly, as the time of the final collapse drew closer, greater emphasis was placed on sports, to divert the attention of the public from the distressing news of massive trouble within the Empire.

3 - The drive for personal pleasure had become very intense, even to the point of obsession. Gibbons noted that, at the very end, sports had become more exciting and brutal.

4 - People lost their faith, both religiously and in their government. Paganism gave way to Christianity and the efficient Roman Government gave way to chaos and disintegration.

5 - Hidden conspirators were working within the government to secretly destroy it. They worked quietly, invisibly and deceitfully; during the entire time they were secretly dismantling the government of the Roman Empire, they publicly proclaimed their unswerving support of it.
