"During the press conference, Gannon said authorities had run through the "exact" scenario that played out at LAX on Friday, which helped them to respond effectively to the situation when it unfolded for real.

Strange how police/security praticed that exact scenario that played out in Boston before the Boston Marathon and now coincidentally, Security played out the "exact" scenario before today's event.

I'm glad the terrorist follow the exact script as the practice sessions.

Does anyone smell a rat in both these events?

Interesting in both LAX and the Boston Marathon, the terrorist followed the exact scenario that had been previouly practiced by Security. Surprising that the terrorist knew exactly which script to follow.

Does anyone else smell a rat in all this?

Your suspicions are justified, Atticus Finch, bearing in mind the routine lies and violence exhibited by .gov. To Operation Gladio, add Operation Northwoods, a CIA plot to bomb civilians in the USA in order to win support for war abroad, and other federal policy priorities:

This murderous plot was turned down by President Kennedy, although we should remember that today's CIA seniors were trained and promoted up the career ladder by the men who approved Operation Northwoods.

unbelievable that a lone gunman can shut down a major international airport for so long. But in the era of big government, no overreaction is considered excessive. Hey - let's shut down LAX tomorrow too, just to be on the safe side!

Amazing that the first security challenge is so far inside the building.  How about a magnetometer at the entrance to catch the guys with rifles?

People travel with guns, duh. This the USA still, even if the law and the voters in on Kali don't hold to that. Note that in Texas carrying concealed or bringing your rifles, shotguns, ammo etc into the airport is normal. You can also carry your side arm, loaded, into the state capital while it is in session. The line is shorter, and has no metal detector, duh, because you are in it because you have a gun. The lawmakers in TX like it that way, because it makes them all safer.

you might be surprised just how many government employees there actually are.  If criminals had any brains any bank within 15 miles of LAX would have been open season for at least three hours today.  Glad I don't think like that.  A bullied TSA employee.  He could have just thrown our shoes at everyone and still made his point.  What is this world coming to??

Uh where was local law enforcement?  I suspect tha tthe Los Angeles County Sherriffs department is in charge of law enforcement at LAX, where were the deputies?  There should have been at least one, uniformed officer in that terminal.  Also, TSA has it's own air marshall program and since LAX is a category X airport, there would have been a few air marshalls around in the terminal waiting to depart on their flights.  I want John Pistole to explain what went on here.

Oh and one more thing.  While were are on the subject of firearms, what does Feinstein have to say about Switzerland and Israel?  Both of those countries have large reserve forces where the members possess within their own households military issue firearms.  Lovely weapons such as the Heckler-Koch G3 and the Rafael Industries Galili rifle.  Both of which could do more damage than the infamous AR-15.  How many times has a citizen of either nation gone downstairs to the gun vault, took out the family firearm and began using the neighbors for target practice?  I want to know how they avoid a situation like that?  Oh that's right, were bitter clingers for asking for consistency and objectivity.

"An AR-15 again?" The Navy Yard killer used a shotgun. The AR-15 is simply the most popular and widely owned rifle by law abiding firearms owners.

If this were the 1950's that weapon would be the M-1 Garand.

If this were the late 1800's it would be the Winchester '74 lever action rifle, the "assault weapon" of the day-just ask the Native Americans.
