(it seems the hatchet has been taken to Q4 - one-off of course, due to the shutdown - which incidentally had no effect whatsoever on any survey or soft-data macro or the stock market)

That would mean it will still have a secret cache of chemical weapons even after the current agreed-upon destruction effort is carried out.
The intelligence is not definitive but “there are various threads of information that would shake our confidence,” one U.S. official said. “They have done things recently that suggest Syria is not ready to get rid of all their chemical weapons.”

The report noted that Japan's air defense identification zone stretches to a region only 130 kilometers from Zhejiang province in eastern China. This not only covers the area in which the disputed Diaoyu islands (referred to as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyutai in Taiwan) are located, but it also includes the Chunxiao gas field in China's exclusive economic zone.

Why does anyone bother looking at the published GDP numbers? All the "inputs" are so thoroughly manipulated by the Fed and the gov't that the result--so-called GDP-- is meaningless...at least to me.
Lucky we now live in the 'Free Money' economy, where all that really matters (if you're anyone that matters, that is) is that the FED is still pumping out 85 billion/month in free cash, and has promised to keep borrowing costs (ie margin rates) near zero forever. Let the mouthpieces talk about 'taper' now and then, just to keep the greedheads a little bit in line, and watch the market rise. This is going to wind up putting the bull market of the 80s and probably even the dot com bubble to shame as far as wild, unjustifiable multiples go.
Pointed out years ago here on ZH..you can only fake and massage the data and the narrative for a finiite time and then it is time to revert to overt lying...that is the period we are in now the past 5 months..We are in the lying stages with a mixture of blame which will cede to lying with an emphasis of the blame on the "unexplainable" followed by boarding of the lifeboats and blame going to your predecessor and eventually the successor...
