After 475% Stock Rally In 2013, Venezuela Begins "Operation Against Speculation"

Tyler Durden's picture

Venezuelan President Maduro is on the wires confirming that all is well in the nation - nothing to see here...

  • *VENEZUELA'S MADURO ANNOUNCES 'NEW PHASE' TO STABALIZE ECONOMY
  • *VENEZUELA'S MADURO SAYS HE'LL MAKE ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • *BLACK MARKET FX RATE IS HARMING VENEZUELA ECONOMY: MADURO
  • *VENEZUELA TO START OPERATION AGAINST SPECULATION, MADURO SAYS

Yep, so after a 475% rise in the Caracas Stock Index YTD, he sees 'speculation' and will announce some 'economic fixes'... this should be good...

Laughed at all over Lat Am Maduro (at least in Peru) now proves that he is as crazy as Chavez was.  Chavez DID show that he was not stupid though, he brought Venezuela's 400 tonnes gold home from London.  I wonder if V's gold is still there?

The only 'speculation' going on is the speculation that the value of the currency will continue to collapse...

The biggest manipulator is the central bank. The item being manipulated is the currency supply. The stock market is simply mirroring that manipulation.

Ah, the scapegoats of statists through the ages: those evil "speculators".

I'm just waiting for Maduro to slap on his "WIN" button and declare "No soy ladron!"

Not one of these dumb fucks have the capability to figure out that they are killing their fiat and that's why the black markets are showing up for the poor while those closest to the money printers are getting richer.

The central bank must have already cashed out the cronies at the official exchange rate, bag holders are left at the black market rate where those stock gains won't beat inflation.

The magicians figured out how to suppress inflation riots.  The crony socialist play, keep issuing bonds, buy the bonds, print, issue credit to the masses and maintain the bubble. Dumb thing about South America is they are still running the China bet will save the day.

Fools.

Reality must be personified, and to be then attacked.

Think Xerxes flogging the Bosphorus for sinking his precious fleet.    The orignal empire-builder liberal.

My guess is the government types will put some constraints on the market - like no-one can sell -  until they can cash out at the top - then the market can collapse.  It's for the good of the common man you see.

I know how they can fix things...they can simply change the date of Christmas.  Oh wait, they are actually doing that...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/05/venezuela-moved-christmas-nicol...

If you're Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and you're sweating an upcoming vote, the solution isn't to campaign more. No, the obvious answer is to move Christmas.

Maduro announced last week that Nov. 1 would herald the arrival of "early Christmas" in Venezuela, "because we want happiness for all people." Per Fox News Latino, Maduro sealed the deal by lighting Nativity lights at the Presidential Palace of Miraflores over the weekend and announcing that workers in the country will receive most of their bonuses and pensions nearly a month early.

Tyler, Tyler, Tyler.  It has nothing to do with speculation, or a lack there of.  It's all about the bolivar, the rapidly devaluation there of.  They set the printing presses to hyperdrive mode around this time last year as Chavez was dying.  Bolivar has gone from under 10 last year to 25 at the start of this year and has cratered to 45 now.  If you redo the stock index chart in real terms, you're probably looking at a loss.
