Watch Socialist Paradise Central Planning In Action: Venezuela Looting Edition
What happens when the government sets the precedent that what was private is now public property? Encouraged by President Maduro's seeming incitement "Leave nothing on the shelves, nothing in the warehouses... Let nothing remain in stock!" crowds of Venezuelans looted the local DAKA stores after the government's 'occupation'... "this is good for the nation," Maduro concluded... You decide...
Some might argue that DAKA (in a mysteriously karmic way) got its back on Maduro as he was propelled from his bike by 'nothing' the day after...

You burned through the 0.1 BTC I sent fast!
no power means almost no further use for btc.
You can use batteries & radios but at some point it becomes more tedious than it's worth.
Mr. Bearing, You Rock for that blog post. Although, considering your primary business, it might be better if you roll...
Mr. Boots, thank you for the kind words.
Yeah, probably - but that'll be the "profiteers" fault as well.
This is what I'm thinking will be the long term effects of this type of government takeover. This is Venezuela imploding on itself.
Free tee vees so they can watch government run propaganda channels. Brilliant!
This is a cunning plan only seen previously in Blackadder.
It gets better when the V-FSA eventually trades those tee vees for food and killing fields start the people with the tee vees aka the non-socialists will be watching propaganda telling them to stay in their houses or some sort of government sponsored misdirection while the hit squads go door to door removing them from the houses while they are watching them tee vees blissfully unaware.
The likes of Goldman Sachs and Hank Paulson are the real looters. It has been deemed acceptable practice. Enjoy.
Agreed, but hell holds a special place for Private Equity....
Double speak: "wealth distribution".... Robbery... pure and simple.
Free electronics for everybody! Followed soon by: no electronics for anyone.
Followed soon by: no electricity for anyone. FIFY
Followed soon by: "Where did all of the stores go?"
Also followed by, "WTF, mano, yo es hungry!"
All that is gonna happen is DAKA will close down those stores that are looted and likely close down in Venezuela all together. Why would you restock only to get looted again or have the govt threaten to jail you if you do not sell items at a loss. Venezuela is creating the inflation on their own. Dictating prices does not work if your currency is going down the tubes and most items sold are imported. No retailer is going to sell a TV for a 50% loss vs cost or face jail time. You simply stop selling.
And investing, and manufacturing, and financing, and cultivating crops, and, well everything except hunkering down with as many weapons as you can get as the regional warlord. Kidnapping, murder, theft, and security becomes the new commerce. Better not be old in Venezuela, or moral.
Daka was a small chain with 5 stores total. Local to Venezuela. They are out of business, totally.
Daka is gone. Their employees, soon to be on the streets. A lot of the rest of retail will likely follow.
You might think this creates opportunities, but it doesn't. It all serves to destroy their economy, and once they are down they stay down until some imperialist power shows up to give them something new to do with their unemployed masses.
Hyperinflation is a monetary phenomenon created by central governments. Hyperdeflation is an economic phenomenon that drives itself in a positive feedback loop of spiralling annihilation. The latter is quickly lethal and once it ignites is almost impossible to stop.
And now you know something more about Ben Bernanke's nightmares.
Not at all! You have it completely wrong. In a Socialist state EVERYBODY has a job. See...just like magic. Ohh look a unicorn!
But they do! That video is filled with people that just got new positions as junior chief deputy assistant looters!
It's good that they're practicing skills that will be of use to their kids. They're going to need all the hands they can get when it comes time to steal food. The stores won't restock after the first smash and grab, so they'll have to live on whatever they get that first time.
I can imagine this very thing happening to Walmart's across America come Christmastime. They'll call it the Obama PS4 - "Comes with whatever games and accessories you can swipe with it".
I wonder if Walmart will purposely keep it's Pharmacies understocked in case of looting. If I were going to loot a Walmart, the Pharmacy would be destination #1. I'm sure I could barter a Oxycodone for BHO deal.
You were on a roll the other night, I made some popcorn and took it all in....
BTW, was Venezuala ever a "Socialist Paradise" in the mind of anyone but Hugo Chavez?
Yeah the cat was definitely IN the house on that one. I don't think anyone in the room made it out alive.
Good times.
I can't imagine that Bernanke is smart enough to understand anything you just wrote, even if he wanted to.
His nightmare's are likely along the lines of "Did I get tossed under the bus yet?" and "Well, at least I've got Krugman for backup."
The Bernanke is a very smart guy, he just has extremely poor judgement when it comes to monetary isms and mentors...
He can't control his erections. Distracts him constantly. His momma told me, jus' so you'll know.
Bernanke's nightmare is that this thing collapses before he gets the hell out.
Behold...the very near future of these banker controlled United States of Debt Slaves....
i wouldnt be laughing or talking shit if u r here...
and dont have any of the only 2 forms of real money....
These poor people are dressed in rags and starving to death! I didn't see one person who weighed even 400 pounds! /sarc
Inflation in Venezuela is accelerating towards escape velocity. Santa, I'd like a trillion bolivar note to go with my Zimbabwe and German note collection.
In the meantime, food riots have started in India. This is not receiving the attention it deserves. http://www.marketplace.org/topics/world/food-riots-roil-indias-west-beng...

"Niggaz" come in all colors, don't they?
Don't know how it is over there, but here in germany the "blacks" are bavarian CSU-members. So at least no black "niggaz" here. ;-)
you have a Turkish variant, yes?
Barry's free shit army going global
These people are fucked up, and I don't have any simpathy for the misery they are about to go through when nobody will sell into their fucked up country. Dumb ass short sighted clowns, sure you have a teevee but how in the hell are you going to feed yourselves?
Well Doc if it hadn't been apparent to you already, 99% of the people want fiat currency and instant gratification.
The grasshoppers are eating all the ants for today's party. Hangovers be damned!
These people are nihilists not to be afraid of. ;-)
Re: These people are fucked up
How are they any worse than all the people in the US living off of their own Big-Gov scams. Or all the dumbasses voting Red and Blue team for the last 60+ years.
Everybody loves free money. That's why we've got the system we've got, which is the same system everywhere else on the planet. If we didn't have the Reserve Currency or if China didn't have the Communist Mafia we'd be just like Venezuela.
Socialism/fascism is the only system. It's socialism for us & China because it's working, it's fascism for Venezuela because it's not.
I'm about as far as you can get from being a socialist, but what we have here is certainly not socialism. It's not capitalism either. TPTB throw in just enough of each "ism" so that the socialists blame the capitalists for the problems, and the capitalists blame the socialists. With both sides not realizing that we live in a fascist state.
Re: With both sides not realizing that we live in a fascist state.
Yeah, you are right. Fascism is the only actual system that exists. The assholes kicking the asses of the peasants who actually love getting kicked in the ass by their betters.
But we do have a form of applied crony-socialism (real socialism, not the fantasy talked about by the semi-autistics who write manifestos). We also have a form of fascism (and we even have a Christian Fascist Party).
The magic of our political system is it allows applied crony-socialism and fascism to co-exist; just as the magic of Christianity is putting the old & new Testaments into a single book. This unique blending allows the smart-n-savvy people to manipulate the humans with natural fascists and socialist brains - which comprise about 70% of the population - as a single group of dumbasses. The US smart-n-savvy people prosper, the Christian leaders prospers.
The chinese godless commies have pulled off the same thing. Commie-capitialists? Who woulda thunk?! But, in reality, it's the only human organization that's possible if you want to control a majority of dumbasses.
Socialist do not take over private enterprise, They regulate it to death.
Fascist take over private enterprise, hang the owners out to dry, and pillage what they may.
In the end its always about Power, taken over, at the point of a gun.
Yes, that would explain why Germany has such a kick ass economy which makes for the most part the highest quality merchandise in the world....
Agreed. Our system is far more fascist than that of Venezuela, which is a highly socialist model (State ownership and control of production). Because their model is highly socialist, it will collapse hard and fast. You just saw an example of everyone working together for the common good in the video of looting. That is a s good as it will get under that model. As others pointed out... the spirit of individual ownership definitely became apparent if the flat screen was touched by another.
Ours is a Fascist/Socialist/Capitalist hybrid, with emphasis on authoritarian fascism.
We have a contest for control, with government being the instrument of plunder. It has become unclear where government ends, and corporations begin. Politicians hold seats in boards of directors, and corporate officers are political advisors. Lobbyists are the purveyors of the real exchange of information, currency, and direct orders put to action.
Does the government control corporations or do the corporations control government? The answer is an emphatic YES. (And the only real battle is for the seats of control, both governmental and corporate)
Capitalism is for you and me... except that we are expected to bear the burden of the socialist elements of our economy with our gains, aka 'property'.
So there's that.
CLEARLY you don't know what socialism is or fascism because you wrote "socialism/facism"
May as well write "capitalism/communism" or "gravity/faith" they are so not related.
Socialism is not at any time the merger of corporation & government. Fascism is.
Socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production by the people (of the country). Fascism is not.
I wonder what the US would do if Maduro makes all these deals with the Chinese until Maduro tells them to f*** themselves and suddenly there's Chinese carriers and subs off their coast.
Never get that far...
The Chinese have flying assassins.
New elections.
The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of Daka TVs...
Obama's message to Daka....
You didn't build those TV's!!!!!!!!
Good think we have that reserve currency.
This planet just gets more awesome everyday.
This is just a start for the Communist Bus driver.....he will take over grocery stores next I bet.....he has no cash to buy things anymore...he can´t trade and will not allow his people to either..this is one reason why...5 stores emptied..and many employees out of work....not much in the big GDP picture..but the guy next door sees whats coming and is making changes...
Well he may have cash for gold..
Another story today in Caracas daily with Capriles the opposition guy again claiming that Maduro through the central bank has a deal with Goldman squid in London to sell 1.4 milion ounces of soveriegn gold to raise cash.
http://www.eluniversal.com/nacional-y-politica/131113/capriles-denuncio-...
sounds like El Presidente hasn't figured out what this 'socialism' thing really is.
The people have to own the MEANS of production.
not the routes, not the stores, not the sales ... the MEANS of production.
Unless Venezuela intends to manufacture these goods in sufficient supply... it is not really socialism, just a mockery of it.
And even if real socialism was implemented, without real expertise, real cost reductions that are ongoing with efficiency, real innovation, really what you should expect from a free market... it won't work.
If they lived in the USA they'd all be obaboon voters!
You didn't loot that!
I'd love to see the store owners with AK's like the Koreans after the Rodney King riots/looting.
They had their gun rights stripped under Hugo.
"I'm taking your store in the name of the people!"
Don't forget to pay the rent on the first of the month
"I'm taking your fixtures!"
Those are rented too.
"I'm taking the stock!"
On consignment. Have you ever been in business before?
"No."
Well you are now. Goodbye.
"You can't take your money out of the country!"
I don't have any money in this country. If you will excuse me, I have a plane to catch.
Socialism breeds this kind of "i need mine" behavior and dictators pander to this to keep the peace while the smart ones prepare to jump ship and leave the rats onboard. Chavaz didn't get the opportunity to jump ship and for some strange reason, I don't think Maduro will have to opportunity either.
So how exactly would you classify Germany and Sweden?
Terribly sexist society too - I only saw one women make it out of Daka with a TV - rest all males.
Good for the Nation.
Not good for M&M Enterprises.
Not good for anyone in the area when the things they stole run out as I doubt the shelves will be stocked again soon. Eat the rich and party for a day...
News reports from MSNBC said that Obama gave the"Chavaz mini-me" a call yesterday to tell him that he may keep the Bike Helmet he lent the guy because Michelle said she will scoop the Obamster up a new pink one when she and the girls join in the looting of the Alexandria, VA Cosco in the Spring. MSNBC stated that President Maduro was grateful to him.
There are quite a few chunky Venezuelans. Did they loot a Twinkie factory beofre this retail chain?
I just love how humans are so desperate to get these electronic gadgets that the Chinese make. It is like these things are now human rights. Wide screen TV's being the top pick. Wait till we see the next LA riots here in America, the big box electronic retailers are going to be mowed down by waves of looters looking for X-box, I-Phone, I-pads and big screen TVs to watch basketball on. Pathetic humanity, look how low it has sunk.
By the way, the bankers have looted the entire world economy at brake neck speed. They do it in suits and with the force of law and government on their side. When pathetic poor people do their looting, we are all outraged beyond measure. Double standards are baked into our DNA. The bankers do it right, they take 10 million times more than a looter of a TV inside of an hour, yet we have no outrage. I often wonder at this. Mobs just make us nervous I guess. I know they make me nervous. Smart people loot with financial engineering, the fucking idiots kick doors in and walk away with TVs. A funny world we live in.
Jack, its the same desire and reaction a trout would make when you cast a rooster tail by it.
Probably the exact same neural network too. Mother Nature is conservative.
You see that fucking Venezuelan Clown openingly riding his bike thru Chavaz Plaza?
Where is a Venezuelan Book 'Supository' nearby when you need one?
Even Oswald could have made the shot!
Dirt cheap iPads, $0.2 gas/gallon. Isn't that what any fat Gringo wants?
Whelp, if you want the truth, Dirt cheap iPads would buy my kids and,$0.2 gas/gallon would buy me.
Via La Presidente' !
¡Viva el Presidente!
Yeah, but now they can't get the extended warranty...
This is what happens whe the mob is the military and you don't pay them their "protection money"
In the short term (and just about everything is down to the short term now) this is good for us. We export sundry commodities to Cabello. Merd Mano has shot the shit out of the economy and everything - everything is imported you can think of. Down to rubber bands and paper clips.
For now they can pay for it - it's all cash. 100% CAD - no L/C's anymore. But between inflation and expropriation they are looking down the barrell of 'real' shortages in the very near future.
Stay tuned if you would like a nice view of the void because it's already locked and loaded into the game plan.
When the capitalists refuse to bring their goods back:
1. Pretend such outcome was completely unforseeable; and
2. Blame "greed".
- President Obama
How do you say 'bread and circuses' in Spanish?
On second thought, I don't care to know...
lol. Americans criticizing another country.
It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

I could have sworn I heard one of the "shoppers" say, "I gots my Obamaphone!"
Venezuela is under attack by the banksters and CIA - those getting looted have been actively trying to disrupt and destroy the stability of the nation - damn right 'clear the shelves' - they are lucky their heads don't go onto pikes.
Nationalizing the oil corporations really pissed off the bankster vultures - and now they send in their cronies, propagandists, and CIA minions to try and over throw the popular elected leader. Who does the oil belong to, if not the Venezuelan people? Who should reap the profits of loot that is sitting under the soil of the land where they were born? The profits of oil, the profits of mining, the profits of RENT - rightly should be divided among the people who live there.
Rent is a monopoly, it is not earned - the oil was not created by human hands, it is not a result of labor - it is simply a result of nature. Perhaps some think Spains idea of taxing the sunshine is a good idea? Perhaps some think sunlight in Spain might be something that could be privately owned, and everyone has to pay rent to receive sunlight?
The profit of rent is pure plunder, it is not earned - and rightly belongs to all the people of the nation. This idea was considered to be a purely capitalist idea less than 100yrs ago, and well recognized as simply acknowledging natural law. The universe is not private property - a man has no claim to anything but the products of his own hands. In a very significant way, it has been RENT - charged by the aristocracy that has kept the peasants poor and controllable for centuries.
Personally, I am far right of being libertarian - closer to an anarchist - I think govt has no legitimate function whatsoever, but I also commend those who do not allow PLUNDER, and MONOPOLY - which is what private ownership of resources and real estate is. Of course, the ability to comprehend this truth requires the dismantling of a paradigm that has been programmed into the heads of us serfs for centuries - that it is the right of landlords to charge us rent for the very earth we stand on, without them having to lift a finger, or bead a single drop of sweat.
Private property is what is created by a mans labor, the earth belongs to all mankind - and Venezuela has recognized that inescapable fact. The media hated Chavez - why? Whoever the MSM hates most, that is the enemy of the banksters. Venezuela is in a fight for its own sovereignty.
It is easy to simply repeat the lines the banksters and overlords have taught us - that rent is their due, that acknowledging that every human being has an interest in the land is the devil of socialism or communism. However, we require its use for our very existence - but no mans labor created it - every living person has a right to air, water, land and all things that nature provided - and that no man has earned more, nor less - because no matter how hard a man works - he cannot create land, nor can he create air, or water, or sunlight.
Those people should be shot on sight by right-wing death squads.
These people have learned nothing from Murrika.
The fair price is too high! the best price is FREE!
all hail the free-shit army! It's all free on yer EE BEEE TEEEEE
