Initial Jobless Claims Miss Expectations For 6th Week In A Row (More Glitches)

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the end of the plague of system glitches last week, the Labor Department admits that 5 states estimated levels this week. The initial jobless claims print remains near 4 month-highs (adjusted to for the prior glitch unreality). At 339k vs 330k expected, this is the 6th straight week of disappointment for the 'critical real-time indicator of the economy's health' that some have called this noisy data series. Last week's 'encouraging' print was revised higher from 336 to 341k, we can't wait to see how the 5 estimates affect next week's revision.

jobs are for suckers (tax donkeys who increasingly exist only to support the FSA)

If I had the time & energy I'd write a "Govt Subsidies for Dummies" book to show how to make a decent living with a low-stress-dont-give-a-fuck McJob and maximum govt subsidies.  Serves 2 purposes:  stress-free income sercurity for yourself & bleeds the govt beast so it dies faster.  Then we can get back to work rebuilding from the ashes.

And while you 'bleed the government beast', your soul dies in a mind-numbing, soul-crushing so-called job. Most McJobs are not 'stress free' - they suck big time, especially if you have a shitty boss (usually) or are in any retail situation, from Walmart to fast food. Bad trade-off.

Agreed.  Best to make your own business, preferrably one that can be done on the QT, baking bread, or doing all services considered, building a website to sell t shirts or political discussion.  Many of the folks here seem bright enough to run a small website and get advertisers, etc.

Right on, toomany.

My daughter, now back from the city to help me take care of her mom, recently started a bakeshop out of our home, (she has a university degree and lots of practical training as a pastry chef) and is doing surprisingly, amazingly well in our small town doing all the pastry for a small local cafe/art shop/live music in evening place. Dad is chief dish-washer.

She also forced me to finally buy a freezer, which we can handle since the 15 additional solar panels went up last fall, and it is full of our organic apples and veggies from our land - some of which works its way into her twice-weekly custom pastries - she never does the same thing twice and is incredibly creative with her cooking. Is developing a following among the locals.

Most of the local kids her age grow pot, and make a bunch more money - but it is ALL off the grid - pot or pastry, and a big bunch of locals are not wage slaves. I'm with LOP - long blackmarkets.

And lo and behold, he's now being foisted on the great unwashed masses as the GOP 'front runner'.   We're getting McCained again.

We estimate the jobless claims numbers, Obummercare enrollee numbers, and everything else in this administration.  Obviously there is strong support for the adage, "there are no absolute" (numbers) in this administration.

This is the mother of all depressions.  That is how it will be viewed by future historians who will safely be able to admit the truth after the Socialists all starve to death or die in the war.

What Socialists? You mean the president and the other Democrats in Congress? Because all I see are a bunch of corporatist, centrist Republicans in opposition to the former Republican Party, now known as the American Fascist Party.

There is no more GOP - what's in DC now is just one party - the Big Govt party - with a couple of relative good guys in the mix - just a couple.  If the whole thing caught on fire and burned to the ground (inside the beltway) I would be throwing a party tonight.

Oh, I know that. Hint: I used the word corporatists to describe the President and those Democrats in Congress.

The difference is, the Republicans are the hard-core religious fascists. The Democrats are merely the corporate-style of fascists.

I know, shades of grey. A fascist is a fascist.

A Fascist, you wanker, is a Nationalist Socialist in league with big business and big unions with a National agenda. More like todays Chinese political setup. Look up your history books on Fascism before you type away. But as is typical of the Leftist rewriting of history your association of the GOP as a Fascist entity is a falsehood.

The USSA Dems are now so far to the Left they have no reason to exist. The Left is a parasitic entity that, in every case, has killed its hosts ability to industrially progress. That is why the Left call themselves 'Progressives". They progressively bled everything around them, to death.

The USSA GOP is intellectually dysfunctional. Move on, nothing survives.

The entire world is now being bled to death by 100 years of "Progressive" social policy.

So does this mean we won't be getting an increase in our chocolate rations?

These numbers should not even be reported anymore.  I mean, the FED ain't gonna taper.  They can't.

Taper means realizing all the losses since 2008 AND implosion of new leverage.  And the banks cannot handle that. So the FED won't taper.

What's next, they are gonna float the idea of returning Mark to Market valuation?

living thru history is not all it was stacked up to be, fewer of us working, more on UE,,jobs reports that any idiot can see are unmitigated disaster. we have been getting these #'s  for years and years no pick up in our jobs numbers now 5 yrs out of 08. the DC crowd sticking together, no real effort by repubs to bring this economic mess to the public.,it is so evident we have ONE PARTY RULE.

some cracks opening, such as the ex fed WSJ op ed, but no 60 minutes or frontline or any other FOX, making any of it a priority NEWS coverage.

the long slow grind down of our leaders policies, to some third world status for most in the USA, wall street excepted, DC excepted. JPM tested the waters, and I am sure were surprised the controlled media efforts fell short.
