39 Democrats Fold, Side With Republicans' "Keep Your Cancelled Health Care Plan" Bill
The Republicans' "Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013" bill has passed the House (as somewhat expected). However, what is more critical - as we noted previously - is that a large number of Democrats broke ranks and voted for the bill.

39 House Democrats voted in favor, shunning Obama's proclamation that he would veto the bill (which he described as "threatening the health care security of hard working, middle class families,") anyway if it came to his desk. It is unlikely to pass the Senate.
Why this is a big deal? Here's what Obama said about the bill:
With health care costs rising at such low rates, "this bill would be a major step back," reads the White House statement on the law. H.R. 3350 rolls back the progress made by allowing insurers to continue to sell new plans that deploy practices such as not offering coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, charging women more than men, and continuing yearly caps on the amount of care that enrollees receive. The Administration supports policies that allow people to keep the health plans that they have. But, policies that reverse the progress made to extend quality, affordable coverage to millions of uninsured, hardworking, middle class families are not the solution. Rather than refighting old political battles to sabotage the health care law, the Congress should work with the Administration to improve the law and move forward. The final line reads, "If the President were presented with H.R. 3350, he would veto it."

I think many of us have seen them. They promise health coverage, and they do provide that. Though if you go to a doctor or hospital you will find next to nothing is in the coverage sold to you. This is a fact. It was a smart way to make money.

I think the Repubs know that Harry Reid will not take it up in the Senate. The GOP may have boxed them in. If Reid brings it up - it totally sells out Obama. So assuming Reid did let it go to the floor:

My point is not that we only have two options, or that the government should serve us even. My point is that i hear a lot of people on here calling Obama and our government marxist, when i think that is false. I don't think they are trying to serve the people. I think they believe the people are here to serve them, which makes them fascist. The two are complete opposites. People are under the misconception that Obama is a marxist socialist, when he isn't.

I have experience in pricing policies on the individual market and for regulatory risk pools. When my company entered the individual market years ago, the best-selling plans were, by far, the higher deductible plans with the lowest premiums. It was what consumers could afford to buy. The government should not have been surprised at the feedback.
Obama today has relented to pressures by "allowing" insurers to bring the plans back for a year. He truly doesn't mean it. He wants to assuage the public without undermining his signature legislation.
Regardless, it is not uncommon for states to require a 60-day notice for filing prior to a plan launch. It's November 14th. Insurers have already passed the 60 day notification period to the states. I will be surprised if the insurers are even ABLE to re-instate plans;
Premiums would need to be developed, approved by the state, letters sent out, premiums collected, coordination with health providers, letters to the consumers. Unlike HHS, our IT teams have to go through UAT testing before any changes become live. These things take time. Obama may even be counting on it. Why? Because if the medically underwritten population stay on their "cancelled" policies, that means less traffic to the exchanges Obama wants to promote, and less cost-subsidization which will wreak havoc on exchange premiums in 2015.
Washington state has already declared they will not allow Obama's "fix" to go through. Rising premiums are only a symptom of the disease."

The majority of human on this planet have ZERO "coverage." And a good portion of them might never see a doctor in the course of their entire lifetimes.
So, not only is Obamacare impossibly unsustainable, but so too is any other big medical system, "free" enterprise or otherwise.

The GOP is crazy to try to fix this... unless they really think it will work.
