Government To Investigate Government Over Jobs Manipulation Report

Tyler Durden's picture

As a result of yesterday's report that Census was caught manipulating the September 2012 jobs report, the BLS provided the following response via CNBC:

"the incident has been reported to the Commerce Dept Inspector General Office for investigation. We no further (sic) comment."

In other words, one part of the government - the Commerce Department - will investigate another part of the government - the BLS. We can only assume the NSA will certify the findings of the Commerce Department?

Rinse. Repeat.

And now on to the November nonfarm payrolls "report" which forms the basis for the Fed's "(manipulated) data dependent" $85 billion monthly liquidity injection into stock markets.

I am sick of hearing about this jobs report being faked. I admit I was slightly upset when I read about it last night. But that hard charging conservative Joe Kernan told me this am that the fact the the unemployment rate continued to fall after that report proves that that report was in fact genuine, and he is a no bullshit kind of guy. He would have called a spade a spade. Sometimes before they go to commercial they play quick sound bytes of him saying witty and slightly off color things, and that proves to me he is a no bullshit kind of guy.

Shame on you ZH for continuing to run with this.

Yes. It is quite obvious from all reported data that things are getting better every day. Admittedly my personal circumstances appear to be an outlier as my economy and business prospects truly suck, but that can only be due to my own personal failures as recently discovered in a personal investigation of and by myself. All of the negative data that I associate myself with are simply contrived statistics, cherry picked from the otherwise "good" news.

Can I just die now and get it over with?

1. If CNBC cared about the truth on this matter Jack Welch would have been on the show today.

2. Joe Kernan may think of himself as a conservative but he pales in comparison to the many that I've known. These are people who all believe in simply telling the truth no matter the consequences.

3. Btw the propaganda machine at CNBC gets it's talking points directly from the WH and those that don't recognize this are simply unwilling to see the obvious.

Dirtiest, sure.  Most incompetent, maybe, maybe not.  You have to consider his intentions.  If his intentions are for the best for all Americans then yes, he is incompetent.  If his intentions are not for the best but perhaps something less of a happy ending for all Americans then no, not incompetent.

Perspective and intentions matter.  If I had to pick, I'd say he is pretty competent.  We'll find out exactly how compentent in 2017 when he is supposed to hand over the office to a successor.  If that happens, incompentent.  If it doesn't happen, totally competent.  Do you get it?

For the last 21 years since we won the "Cold War" by outspending our so-called adversaries we've done the exact opposite of anything and everything that has to do with a defensive military posture, including keeping the NATO alliance intact at a greater expense both in terms of lives and money ever since.

It's why the Russians get such a chuckle out of watching Washington continue to burn through there purse strings over a military budget that is hopelessly delusional and myopic.

Imagine where this Country would be right now 16 years later with $8.5 trillion dollars in taxpayer money in programs other than defense spending?

Should work.

I investigated myself over a bunch of brandy missing from the bottle and found out the damn cat had drunk it.

Scolded cat and closed case.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A "strong majority" on the Federal Reserve's policy-setting committee believes that the central bank's unprecedented asset purchase programs have been effective, said Janet Yellen, President Barack Obama's nominee to be the first chairwoman of the central bank. In response to a written question from Sen. David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, Yellen said the benefits of asset purchases continue to outweigh the costs. The letters were released on Tuesday. Yellen repeated the Fed's statement that asset purchases are "not on a preset course" and the decision on whether to reduce the pace of the purchases will remain contingent on the economic outlook and the Fed's assessment of the costs and benefits. In a separate letter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, Yellen said that Fed policy would likely remain very easy for a long time after the unemployment rate falls below the central bank's 6.5% interest rate hike threshold.
