McDonalds Advice To Employees: "Quit Complaining" And "Sing A Song"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Back in July, we highlighted a ridiculous and insulting campaign that McDonalds ran with Visa in which the company tried to help its impoverished employees plan a budget. The only thing the campaign did was embarrass the company by proving that you can’t survive working there.

Well the company is right back at it in time for the holidays, with several pieces of advice for its legions of serf employees through its ”McResource” website. Three of the more insulting pieces of wisdom include:

“Sing away stress: Singing along to your favorite songs can lower your blood pressure.”

“Break it up: Breaking food into pieces often results in eating less and still feeling full.”

I saved the best for last…

“Quit complaining: Stress hormone levels rise by 15% after ten minutes of complaining.”

Are you “lovin’ it” yet? Video below:

I can get an awesome burger and fries for under $10 at a mom and pop place. It makes no sense people eat that food.

The ancient Pharaohs would be PROUD of how well McD is creating a modern template for slavery.

Even though new Archeological evidence suggests that they never had slaves, but actually paid people to build the pyramids.  And they had free health care and housing too.

But go on believing the "revisionist history" of Moses's Pentateuch (5 books), if it makes you happy and prevents cognitive dissonance.  Why believe archeological evidence (or its absence regarding "Moshe" or "Jewish slave"), when you have perfectly credible evidence via a Daisy-chain of stories and post-fact documentation from sheep-herders.  Desert sheep herders of questionable literacy and questionable hygiene.  /sarc

Clearly people will believe what they WANT to believe, not what makes... 'sense' (i.e. based on sensory plus independent objective data).  Keep buying that Invisible Product.  Yes, FM and TV E/M waves are invisible also, as is the Information Highway, but at least we can DETECT and MEASURE it.  Sheesh.  Where would Shamans and snake-oil salesmen be, were it not for willing customers? [shakes head

EXCUSE ME, but who ever thought one could raise a family of four while working full time at McDonalds?

Please, point this person out!

MickeyDs is where you work during HS or on SSN for pocket money.

MCD now MUST! provide a "living wage" to every fry cook?  The 16 year old taking my order for fat food needs to make a house payment, car payment, Obamacare payment, chile care payment, etc. from what I pay for fries?

I don't believe that's possible.

The economy is desperate & will devolve into this: a) no jobs can be for pocket-money, everyone will need every penny; or b) all jobs will be for pocket-money, work your ass off, it will never get better, ever (upper elites excluded of course)

Snap and other marginal support programs make it possible for McDonalds, Walmart, and other large chains to pay substandard wages.  The US Govt provides a direct subsidy to their work force, straight on........similar in fashion to the subsidies that the US Govt provides to every other industry via direct purchase (defense) and indirect (medicare goes to the health care industry 100%, there are no retained benefits by seniors) and people on Social Security by and large spend every cent they get back into the economy.

The only people with real pocket money left over after Govt subsidies work their way through the economy are the owners and most senior corporate folks at Defence Industries, Health Care organizations, large chain merchandise/service industries.

The reason the blue stocking end of the Republican party, vs. the wacked out Tea Bag end of things, doesn't orgainze aggressive campaigns against government subsidies like these is that they are either directly or indirectly funding customers.  Its the same in my case.  I've owned, and still do, a variety of businesses......everyone of which has benefited enormously from Fed, State, and Local funding.  And, to top it off my tax rates as a percentage of income are actually less than my receptionist.....no kidding. Cracks me up.

I was concerned that the traditional Republican message might have played itself out especially as the crisis of 2007/2008 wrecked the economy.  Thank whomever that a black President was elected and the Tea Bags energized the base and were too amateurish to avoid being coopted by more sophisticated players in the Republican party.  Thank you, Santa.

This site is so strange.  Outrage at the plight of the poor and middle class, and indignation regarding any government program or action.  So strange.

You won't be confused if you incorporate into your belief system the thesis that government created all the poor people and can only exacerbate the situation. Get rid of all the programs that enrich cronies and the private sector can again perform the essential ones. 'Benevolent' dictatorship is the goal, and the problem.

Would you like cum soaked fries with that spitburger? Supersize your bucket of piss? The e coli is fresh off the shitter...

The government spends trillions annually on endless wars, the worlds biggest prison system, corporate welfare, etc.   Those "programs" are a significant reason for the "plight of the poor and middle class".

Why is that hard to fathom?  We are outraged at what is happening to the poor and middle class - that is how a society in the anals of history is judged.

There is also, albiet hard for you to understand, indignation towards the government.  They are inept at leadership, focused on crony, highest bidder, elitist politics.

This site represents those in the middle that want to work for a better life.  It's not fair the government is burdoning businesses with this health care system, stripping us of our competative edges in all forms, and literally destroying the fabric.

Why is hard for you to understand that we are upset at the treatment of the common man and the waste of the government.  Most people here are just upwardly mobile trying to seek a better life for their families... nothing strange here - you obviously think there is a government program for everything and that the government should rescue and help people - the government is hurting people and because there is no check or balance to their efforts and they control the media and money - we are left holding the bag.

THINK ABOUT IT... NOT STRANGE - FACT!

it's pretty obvious when you actually look at what happens that keeping a lot of people poor by design, by government, is what helps drive part of the 'voting class' (as if votes matter). Just imagine if the truth were understood (it has been revealed) that poverty is caused by government colluding with banks & megacorps to create an artificial landscape of deceptive nonsense.

You're still falling for it, aren't you?

Here is a concept few seem to understand: McDonalds isn't the one paying the wages. THE CUSTOMER DOES. McDonalds pays their workers out of the money the customer trades to them for their product. If wages go up, this WILL be passed on to the customer. Thats the way it works folks. Their famous dollar menu is already slipping away, it has been replaced with the new "dollar & more" menu {as in, more money please}. Overhead cost are rising rapidly in the dining & food industry. Corporate McDonalds is also hitting their franchisees up with a whopping 30% rise in fees over the last couple of years. These are the people who create jobs {even if they are less than desirable}. Who cares about them? Who is looking out for them? Corporate doesn't care if wages rise, thats the franchisee's problem. Besides coal, the last business to be in right now is the food business. Margins are razor thin as it is. Go ahead and rise the minimum wage to $15. Watch what happens. Be careful what you ask for.

FUCK YOU, MICKEY D!!! I am proud to say that I haven't eaten a fast food meal ANYWHERE for years. McDonalds is killing people in every way, everyday and I won't be a part of that. I am temporarily living in a state in which the minimum wage is $7.50 an hour. I have a job - it's temporary for me, but they don't know that yet - at a large big box store and make $7.65 an hour. I work my ass off in retail for less than half of what I normally make in my home state. The number of families at my store who receive government assistance, while working 38-39 hours per week, is phenomenal. So, for all you folks who are bitching about people on the dole, I can assure you that many of those receiving assistance are, in point of fact, working long, hard hours for little money. If I had anyone else to support, besides myself, I wouldn't be able to make it. I took this temporary position to see exactly what blue collar Amerikans are living through. It has been an eye opener. I'm fortunate enough to be able to go back to my home state and resume a white collar existence, but for my colleagues at work, I feel empathy.

So more and more entry level jobs are now suppossed to fill the boots of the good paying jobs ruined/chased away by taxes/regs and litigation? And Tyler plays along. Hello? Tyler//Are you listening?

There were always low paying jobs. They were the training ground for kids and individuals without the skills for a better job out of school or down on their luck. Now they have to McDonalds has to pay 40k for a freaking burger flipper? And just who is going to buy the $18.00 Big Mac that pasy for all this?

So what you are saying is. Don't have a business unless it has huge margins and you can pay 40K to each worker? Well guess what, the people working at MCD can't perform those jobs and they are not worth 40K. I blame overly big gov and gov schools. Not some damn chain burger joint.

Some of the folks on this thread need go work among "those people" to understand what kind of human looks to McD for their "career." The temps skate in, skate out. But the lifers? Get in there and see what those individuals are made from. That McD has to bring some semblance of encouragement to the marginally skilled (emphasis on marginally) is par for the course. Talk to the franchisee about what it takes to get someone who has failed their 3rd try at the GED to get a customer's food in a bag quickly and accurately. I'd say that Mr Elitist ex wall street went to Duke Krieger needs to back the fuck up and look in the mirror before he casts this elitist vibe over people who are so fucked in the life lottery that McDs is their fucking career.

Rather than making fun of a company that at least MAKES A FUCKING TRY at helping the unwashed masses of job serfs, go out and help someone GET BETTER AT LIFE.

Then come back here and post how fucking funny these little uplifting attempts at MAKING SOMEONE'S LIFE BETTER (ableit marginally) REALLY CAN BE. Tylers, you post a lot of bullshit from this guy. You own it too.

No, that results in feeling starved due to eating less.

Wow.
