Fact Or Fiction: The Hunger Games

Tyler Durden's picture

One is a dystopian society of haves and have-nots (favored or disfavored) controlled from The Capitol by a totalitarian 'big' government and entertained by reality TV shows... the other is a fictional movie entitled "The Hunger Games"...

I know this is slightly off topic. But, I watched all of two minutes of Obama speaking to a San Fransisco crowd of backers today and I had to turn the page out of disgust. I'm amazed at how far our expectations for success in our country have fallen. I just wonder what it will take for the rest of this country to stop nodding there head like zombies for this guy.

What I find so amusing is the same liberalist's who fawned over OWS are telling their readers to ape the styles of the 1% in this star-gimmick.

This is on par with people clapping like trained seals for Chaplin's 'the dictator' and musing on it's comedic irony while a world war was brewing.

I was at the 99 cents only store the other day.  The price of eggs just keeps going up.  For the needy families who would come in and buy 3 or 4 dozen eggs for 3 or 4 dollars, now they are paying $1.80/dozen.  My rich friends do not see this as a problem, but when people rely on eggs to feed their family, this really hurts them a lot.

Are things fucked up enough yet?  Yep.  And its raining poor people.

Perhaps it is lost on most, but notice how in the Hunger Games series there was no mention of a world outside of Panem. So what was going on in the world beyond?

Likewise, in most preppers doomdays scenario TEOTWAWI, no thoughts on what's happening in Singapore,Dubai, Panama or Sydney.
How U.S. centric.

FYI, there's a world outside of the USSA and there's a good chance it will not go down as dramatically. It might even prosper.

Are you OK with:

-your SS confiscations going into the general fund to be spent on arming the DHS
- the Fed and all it entails
- constant warmongering
- spy agencies spying on YOU (funded by your own tax dollars)
- ObamaCare

Don't let yourself get caught by the USSA event horizon.

"dollar centric" not US centric. as an American i cannot go to the ATM and convert my dollars into another another currency. i only get dollars. that could change muy rapido in the world of bitcoins. this is not to say "buy bitcoins" (i'm thinking a drop of 90% is in order once Wall Street money shows up)...just saying they could IN THEORY be used as a valuation metric relative to ALL fiat currencies. i'm still trying to figure out who equated "private transactions" with criminal activity...obviously that "equation" has been great for the bit coin market however.

Currently you can go to an ATM (outside the U.S.) and get local currency.

Make no mistake, the window on this is closing. Expect (and plan) for this to change.

If your intention is to get out of Dodge, then you should do it .....yesterday.

It's logical to expect U.S. gov to go full retard in it's death throes. Being within its swinging radius is foolhardy. The best way to avoid trouble is not to be there when it happens.

I find it interesting that soccer moms and teenage girls have dropped the vampires for a dystopia that depicts a world of universal surveillance, with a vast gulf between the starving producers and a frivolous upper class all kept in place by a tyrannical police state.

While I was waiting to get in the theater, I had a long conversation with Amy, one of my former students who suffers from M.S.   She has been confined to a wheel chair since I have known her.  She has been in the same theater collecting tickets from movie goers for the last eighteen years.

She was worried about her job and lamented that she could make more money on welfare than she could working. She believes that the political dysfunction combined with an unraveling economy is evidence of a collapsing system.

Should it all come crashing down, I have a life expectancy of a year, she has even less.  I admire her.  She is a brave little soul that has turned her back on the handouts.

Listening to her and others, I am convinced that we are not alone.  Others see what is coming.  The fact that this movie is so popular indicates to me that the middle class is starting to play out the scenarios of collapse and revolution

 in their minds.

There is no "United States". The law is only what evil men say it is since domestic enemy of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama , was installed as the "Puppet of Panem", or what ever the name is of the now deceased United States of America. Most likely, after US citizen sovereignty was abrogated by the installation of an illegal non natural born British born subject, the United States has been repatriated to Britain. I guess it is now called "Newer Brittania".

The passage of Obamacare, NDAA, the desecration of mariage, our borders, our money, all prove that there is no "United States", only a rotting corpse being violated by criminals, who's necrophillic (sp.?) lust knows no bounds. We are now being shown our future. They think it's funny. Will there be an awakening by the critical mass necessary (most will remain asleep, "grazing in the grassland away") to water the tree of liberty? Step one is to drag that criminal domestic enemy puppet from the White House. Then all bets are off.

These books are a class lower than 1984 or Brave New World, but there are 2 really good things about them.

- Sacrifice of children is in the front. After all it is the adults that have the power in here and now, yet somehow they will find ways to drop burdens on youth. Be it conscription or debt. You can't vote on draft when you're 12, 14, 16 and aging towards draftable. You can't vote on balanced spending when adults go in debt with a collateral of your future productivity.

- There's a great ending. While the story starts collapsing in 2nd and especially 3rd book it is salvaged by it. Mentality of the opposing team is shown as just a bit upgraded version of the same thing, with more and more features emerging as they're closer to obtaining power. And the hero acts against this in an individual way. She shoot's "her own" president. Leader of the home team. Our man/woman in power.

It's great that it's a hit, with a line of movies in the making. Forget 1500 pages over 3 books, just the line justifing shooting your own president who's eyeing new tyranny is worth it. And a bunch of blue pill people are going to see that next year.
