Meanwhile, In Greece...

Tyler Durden's picture

The Greek stock market - seemingly unbreakable in its animal spirits that recovery is right around the corner for the increasingly depressed nation - has collapsed over 4% today, its largest plunge in 5 months. Being relatively illiquid, it is not clear what the catalyst is (one hedge fund exiting?) but the tensions growing in the fragile Greek coalition (over Venezuela-style controls on medicine prices) perhaps raise the specter of the worst possible scenario - political uncertainty. Also, quietly and behind the scenes, the extremely illiquid Greek bond market has seen prices drop to 6-week lows (yields 90bps higher in the last 3 weeks).

Probably for the same reason the Irish morons who ran Chicago & Boston used to send arms to their "freedom fighters" buddies in Northern Ireland for their "heroic" fight against English oppression.

There are nationalist assholes everywhere.

Maybe the WHO announcement that Greek HIV rates have exploded since the crisis, due in part to self-infection, to get on welfare. I'd guess they are just getting enterprising doctors to diagnose them with HIV, a little like our setup with "disability"

Isn't it interesting that all this bail-in, capital confiscation, market and currency manipulation etc, etc is done in countries with neither the will or might to fight back.

Sure we get the occasional protest in the park, but no real, prolonged and meaningful resistance to this tyrannical central banking.

Is this going to be the slow slide into oblivion we are seeing played out in the US and EU?

The only real upset comes from the FSA and EBT crowd, not those who are footing the bill.

All pharmaceutical and medical corporations should be publicly owned and operated. The same with the energy corporations and banks should be outlawed because they have no beneficial social function and only seek to destroy society. The Food suppliers should also be publicly owned and operated. FRAUD and Bribery will be punishible by public hanging

Re:  publicly owned and operated

How would that keep the sociopaths in check?   The sociopaths have already proven they can infest public companies.

You need a "system" that has some chance of addressing the reality that sociopaths exists in huge numbers and have an advantage over the normal losers who aren't sociopaths.

Take your facist/socialist/communist claptrap to Huffpo or Yahoo, it doesn't work here.

Publically owned and operated has never worked and only leads to human misery, just more of what we've had since the advent of Central Planning, Banking and Control.

Re;  Publically owned and operated has never worked and only leads to human misery

That's what I said.   The sociopaths have proven they will infest public companies as well as private companies.   I told him to find a system that controls the sociopaths.

Most societies can't figure out how to control their sociopaths, which is why they eventually are run by the sociopaths.

Tue, 11/26/2013 - 15:16 | 4191316 SDShack
SDShack's picture

Exactly correct. Sociopaths can only be controlled by a robust rule of law that stems from inalienable human rights, ie. like our constitution. But even that will be exploited by sociopaths at every turn to weaken it, confuse it's meaning and exploit it's loopholes until it is meaningless at it's ability to control the sociopaths. We are rapidly reaching that point. The end result is all great civilizations collapse and have to be rebuilt. Those that control their sociopaths to some extend thrive for a while, but eventually sociopaths always seem to win out. Bummer, but true.

I would change it slightly to say that pharmaceutical and medical corporations should be run like utilities - private companies but regulated in terms of what they do and what they charge. Medical companies should not be incentivized to maximize profits.
