Iran Seizes Saudi Fishing Vessels, Arrests 9 Sailors
It didn't take long to escalate Iran-Saudi relations, or the lack thereof, following this weekend's nuclear (non) deal. Moments ago Iran's Fars news agency reported that Iran’s coast guards have seized two Saudi fishing vessels after they entered the Islamic Republic's territorial waters, a provincial official announced on Wednesday. “Yesterday, the coast guards deployed in the country’s Southern waters came to spot two vessels in Iran’s protected waters in the South using electronic and optic tools and equipment,” Commander of Bushehr province Coast Guards Qalandar Lashkari said. He said that the Iranian coast guards rushed to the scene and were faced with two vessels which were illegally fishing in the Iranian waters under the Saudi flag.
It was not immediately clear if, as in the case of China's air defense zone, the US promptly decided to drive a battleship in Iran's territorial waters, just because it can. However, the Saudi response will certainly be just as acute.
Noting that 9 sailors were arrested thereafter, Lashkari said further investigation showed that the 9 people are nationals of different countries.
Also earlier this year, forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)’s second naval zone seized another Saudi vessel and its four-strong crew after it illegally entered Iranian waters. The vessel was later expelled.
In a relevant event on January 3, Saudi Arabia detained 21 Iranian nationals who were aboard two boats near al-Harqus Island 42 miles (78 km) off the Saudi coast, the Saudi border guard said.
We may need before an Israeli boat is arrested, and mysteriously blows up, before the middle-east returns to its wild type irrational, militant state.

In my opinion we as Americans should be seriously considering the possibility of intervening in Iran. Our military intelligence has repeatedly confirmed that Iran is an imminent nuclear threat, and many of our allies such as Israel have come same conclusion. I think we as Americans need to consider the magnitude of this threat and ask ourselves what we as a country can do about it. This issue is crying out for some common sense from patriotic Americans.

Actually the real patriotic issues that are crying out for attention are:
1. Get rid of the Fed, have a debt jubilee, and create a law that allows competing asset based currencies. Make government debt and a US central bank a capital crime.
2. Stop having US soldiers die for corrupt Oligarchs, bring home the troops.
3. Close the borders, there aren't enough jobs, and who the hell is coming over them? Nobody really knows. So how can you say you care about security?
4. Dismatle the control system the Oligarchs use to run the US government.
5. Make spying on and collecting unconstitutional info about US citizens and their leaders a capital crime.
6. Scrap all the stupid trade agreements.
7. Make sure our nuclear arsonal is sufficient to stop a Russia/China first strike attack thereby preventing WWIII.

Really @Born Patriot? 16 US intelligence agencies have said that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons. And so what if they are? Just because Israel says something doesn't make it so. They are notorious liars (See: USS Liberty incident) and routinely deploy guile and deceit in their foreign policy. Don't give me this crap about "patriotic Americans" and how they should back some kind of military intervention in Iran. The patriotic thing to do is for America to stop sticking its nose into Iran's business as it has been since 1953 when it (along with Britain) overthrew the democratically elected leader. I was in Iran before the fall of the Shah and can tell you that the Iranian people have absolutely no axe to grind with America other than the fact that we keep interfering with them.
Your analysis, that they pose a regional threat is unfounded. Iran / Persia has not attacked anyone in centuries. They defended themselves in a war with Iraq and provoked by the United States. You know, when the US considered Saddam Hussein it's friend. America is far larger threat to the region with its economic policies than Iran. The US's central bank has driven up food prices in the region through its loose monetary policy which has fomented revolution in several countries including Egypt.
So go ahead pal, root for war if you want but I can tell you that the US would be stupid to engage the Iranian's militarily. They will close the Strait of Hormuz and gas will be $9 a gallon. And don't think for a moment that China and Russia will stand idly by as this all takes place. They will likely side with the Iranians.

Now those are real threats with real nuclear weapons. Why not Pakistan which in fact has nukes and is a hot bed for Islamic militants? This Leo Strauss, neocon argument that Iran poses an existential threat to Israel is nonsense. Israel has at least 200 nuclear weapons and would turn Iran into a glass parking lot if truly threatened. Iran poses about as much a threat to Israel as my local high school does to the University of Alabama in a football game.
