Obamacare Online Sign-Up Delayed By One Year For Small-Business

Tyler Durden's picture

In a move reminiscent of the "radical" Tea-Party demands of a few weeks back, the administration has decided:

  • *OBAMA DELAYING ONLINE INSURANCE ENROLLMENT FOR SMALL BUSINESS
  • *SMALL BUSINESSES SAID TO USE `DIRECT ENROLLMENT,' NOT WEBSITE

The one-year delay - to Nov 2014, follows the initial Oct 2013 delay citing "sometime in November 2013" availability. The delay applies only to the federal-run SHOP exchanges in almost three dozen states.

Via HHS,

“We’ve concluded that we can best serve small employers by continuing this offline process while we concentrate on both creating a smoothly functioning online experience in the SHOP Marketplace, and adding key new features, including an employee choice option and premium aggregation services, by November 2014,”

Via Bloomberg,

Small businesses won’t be able to use the federal government’s health-insurance website until November 2014 in most U.S. states, the latest delay for the Obama administration’s health-care system overhaul.

“Direct enrollment” will be available in the meantime, said an official with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who asked not to be identified because the decision hasn’t been made public. The change applies to 36 states where the federal government is running insurance exchanges.

The exchanges for small businesses, available for companies with 50 or fewer full-time workers, had already been delayed from a scheduled Oct. 1, 2013, start.

So far so good eh?

Nope, the Dems are cooked either way. No business is going to hire much until the uncertainty around the effects of Obamacare are resolved. Delaying implementation just drags the uncertainty out longer.

The stamped layoffs and cancelled policies circa September 2013 will not be reversed. Obama knows this, and the backlash if it does not come in the Feb. seasonally adjusted numbers should show it's ugly face around May when the new-debt ceiling + taper is in full /drama mode.

The guy in whitehouse is biggest turkey the country has ever seen.  Suprised he hasn't scheduled a news conference to gobble in front of the teleprompter about how "the people" want his plan.

Wed, 11/27/2013 - 17:24 | 4194909 S.N.A.F.U.
S.N.A.F.U.'s picture

Just another example of "That Which is Seen, and That Which is Not Seen."  They show one turkey pardoned, and do not show the turkeys getting slaughtered (to feed the one doing the pardoning and his family and "friends").  That such a show is even put on and not ridiculed by one and all for what it is is symbolic of the ease with which the general public's perception is manipulated.

And the economics of "pardoning" a turkey are nonsensical.  I wonder how Americans would vote if you lined up a few hungry families and let Americans choose between pardoning the turkey and feeding the turkey to the families.  (And then there's the resources that were spent getting the turkey to that point, the resources that will continue to be spent if it's pardoned, and the resources spent putting on the whole charade.)

If I were the president and the press expressed interest in my "turkey relations", I would invite them to watch/film me personally chop the bird's head off.  Maybe add a bit of humor by giving the bird a blind-fold and a cigarette and reading off the charges the turkey is guilty of like "being too yummy".  And for this (and any other frivolous press activity) charge members of the press an entrance fee (kickstarter style so the event is cancelled if there's insufficient interest) with part of that used to cover any associated expenses that would otherwise be placed on the tax-payer and the remainder given to charity.

(Or I'd just tell them to fuck off.  One of the two.  It would depend on how motivated I felt that day to shock people's nonsensical "sensibilities".)

Now on to my analysis of the economics of posting to ZH...

Lets propose the Congressional Reform Act of 2013

1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and
receives no pay when they're out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social
Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may
not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as
all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on
the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are
void effective 12/1/13. The American people did not make this contract with
Congressmen/women.
Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen
legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to
work.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

Big honors Candyman.

We have seen two lists of possible solutions today in the fine commentary here on ZH.

Perhaps, if we get a story with the main jist of it listing solutions to our present menagerie of corruptions and criminality run amok, we will see a gathering of all the great minds here in the comment section adding everyone's list like this.

And, a mighty big thanks in advance for all those who contribute, and for all of you great hearts that have already added your light. We just need to collate all this great input into one easily referenced/linkable place to pass around the net like a wildfire.

After that, it is to be mandated to all of the politickers: ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT ALL THESE SOLUTIONS NOW, OR GET OUT OF OFFICE. For those who do not tow the line, begin the IMMEDIATE countrywide RECALL elections BEFORE CHRISTMAS! There can be no rest for the wicked.

Big grace and many blessings on the truth-warriors here.

Thank you ALL!

Warren Buffet, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one
of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You
just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of
GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.

"just pass a law" to reign in Congress.  Easy as that!  What are we waiting for?

Interestingly enough, there is the No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013.  But the word "Balanced" isn't in there anywhere.  And "No Pay" is a lie, as they would still have been paid (just not until the end of the congressional term).

And my state was dumb enough to set up its own exchange, so it doesn't apply here.  Hey, maybe somebody can sue over this, cause we aren't all getting equal treatment.  Not that suing will get the law nixed or anything, but I do support anything that draws attention to how much of a three ring circus this is.
