Mobs, Stampedes, Fights, Brawls, A Stabbing And Shooting: A Video Compilation Of Black Thursday 2013

Tyler Durden's picture

That greatest of all American traditions - the Black Friday Thursday stampede, this year accompanied with a stabbing and a shooting, is back. A quick review of all readers may have missed by not lining up in droves outside of stores that were selling products at just above cost instead of the usual massive pre-Thanksgiving markup, via the Mail:

  • The rush for Black Friday bargains has resulted in outbreaks of violence as shoppers clash over reduced price goods
  • Police in Virginia have reporting a stabbing incident after two men got into a fight in the car park over a space
  • Shoppers cutting in line sparked a Black Friday Brawl at another Walmart
  • Some retailers opened their doors as early as 6am on Thanksgiving Day

Some details before we get into the documentary evidence:

A man has been stabbed in Virginia, a shoplifter has been shot by cops in Chicago and brawls have broken out across the nation as shoppers clash in a scramble for the best Black Friday bargains.

Chaotic scenes at several Walmart stores have already been filmed and posted to YouTube, revealing the madness that has become a tradition the day after Thanksgiving.

In one of the most violent incidents, a police officer responded to the scene of a shoplifting at a Kohl's store in Romeoville, Illinois just after 10pm on Thursday to see the alleged thief dragging another officer along with his car. The responding officer shot the driver to stop him.

Police Chief Mark Turvey said at a news conference that the injured officer had headed into the store when a man ran out, and the officer chased him to his car. 'The officer was struggling with the subject as he got into the car and then the car started to move as the officer was partially inside the car. The officer was dragged quite some distance. He couldn’t get out,' Turvey said.

The driver and the officer were both taken for hospital treatment of non-life-threatening shoulder injuries, and three people were arrested, Turvey said.

Police in Virginia also reported a stabbing after two men got into a fight in the car park over a space around 6.30pm on Thursday at a Walmart store in Tazewell County. Sheriff Brian Hieatt told WVVA that the incident occurred in the parking lot. Two men, 61-year-old Ronnie Sharp of Russell County and 35-year-old Christopher Jackson of Jewell Ridge in Tazewell County, were arguing over a parking space.

This escalated into a threat with a firearm, and then Hieatt says Sharp used a knife to cut Jackson in the arm, slicing down to the bone. Sharp is charged with malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm. Police seized a rifle from him. He is Southwest Regional Jail in Tazewell and is out on $5000 bond.

... at which point he proceeded to return to his favorite zoo store and buy "stuff" at 90% off.

So what did it all look like? The answer: like this...

This thread was started by someone saying that they thought it was hypocritical to be a Christian and supporter of wars of occupation. Do you agree that that is hypocritical or do you believe US occupation of foreign countries is God's will?

Everything is God's will both by passively sitting by and letting us screw things up and learning from our mistakes and actively participating in the affairs of human kind and human history to bring the story of humanity to it's end.....and then a new beginning.  God is BOTH clock maker and active agent at the same time.

He left his Word.....both oral and then written to help us make sense of the whole pricture.

God's a Libertarian.  In the beginning there was but one commandement.  Don't eat from the Tree of the KNOWLEDGE of good and evil.  It wasn't because he was being a big ol' mean fuddy duddy and keeping us in the dark.  It was because humanity was naive and innocent and not ready for the TOTALITY of knowledge that can lead to both good and evil outcomes.  Knowledge WITHOUT WISDOM sets us ALL up for failure and the paving of the road to Hell with good intentions that go horribly wrong.

Funny how you rationalist Libertarians bitch and moan about the acts of what you consider stupid low-life sheeple (with good evidence and reason I must say) and are SOOOooo quick to say that they should be made to suffer from their stupidity until they WISE up.

Well........HELLO POT.....THIS IS KETTLE.  YOU'RE BLACK !   God is just sitting back and letting us ALL have our way until we either get tired of all our bullshit and come to grips with the enormity of our besotted lives and seek his guidance.  OR......when we finally usher in the ULTIMATE STRONG MAN to fix the world's ills that have gotten so out of control as to bring about the permanent ruin of man, that God will step into history AGAIN and make sure that doesn't happen.  BUT ONLY after we are close to killing ALL of us.

Sort of like little children in a playground fight over who gets to get on the merry-go-round and that fight escalates out of hand.....all the while the kids never realizing it's just a fucking Merry-Go-Round.  IT DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE !!!   And yet it was SOOooooo important......enough to fight about it.  Or so it seemed.

We all are those stupid, fucking children.

I see. We disagree on whether God's will is everything or something specific. God wouldn't provide guidance if He just wanted us to learn through our mistakes. Learning through our mistakes is impossible without Him, at least in my experience, and He never passively stands by. If He were passive, again there would be no guidance and certainly no begotten Son.

It seems to me that you are arguing with something in your heart, not me, when you say, "We all are those stupid, fucking children." Perhaps your ideas on God are polluted by all to common narcissistic parents. You should remember that you always have a Father. Good luck to you.

For a little contextual info, I have come accross several early church writings that say "1 in 1000" and "1 in 10,000".

The sorting that comes from this evaluation defines who fellowships with the King and who does not.  Early church writings indicate the context was very few indeed.

That would certainly match current observation. A spiritual program was offered to people at a church of several hundred people for a common problem and over 10-15 years the offer has resulted in about 5 phone calls and 0 people taking the narrow path that one of their celebrated members took. The truly sad thing is that ratio is by our choosing not God's.

Nowhere do I find a requirement for the very elect to take a vow of poverty, or even be particularly peaceful.  By definition, they are the 7000-odd of the children who stood on the Father's side during Lucifer's rebellion in the first earth age, and will stand before the synagogue of satan and allow the holy spirit to speak through them at the end of this one.

Sad isn't it?  I don't know why some people bother to call themselves Christian if they  don't understand the central message of love and forgiveness. That's what differentiates us from the older religion of Judaism, although a Talmudic scholar might find examples that reflect these virtues. organised religions may claim it,  but I dare say they don't have a monopoly on goodness and wisdom.

If your spiritual journey takes you to vengeance,  murder, and imposing your will on others, then you are not a Christian as far as I am concerned.

Fri, 11/29/2013 - 12:43 | 4199718 Zadok

Anymore I can hardly say anything to any "Christian" because they quote the words apparently without knowing the definitions of the words of what the conjugation of the sentence says.  They have been told it means such and such and that is that for them.

Silly me, actually trying to honestly ask these open minded, God-fearing, Christian souls what the Word meant from the point of reasoning out the definitions.  After a number of self alienating events (not at all rude, just honest questions that apparently did not agree with the pre-existing decisions) that cleared half the family from the room and left the other half red faced and pissed off, I just do my familial duty and minimize my exposure.

Ignorance is a choice and God gives us all space to choose.  They choose, I choose.

Your right YHC, the choice is available to all of us.  It is not that difficult but it does involve work.  Herein probably lies the issue.  There is a lot more back patting, affirmation, and pleasant get togethers if we would all just buy the partial truths and go along to get along.

No thanks, but I am mature enough to choose my rebellion carefully and thoughfully.  There is much to be said for patience.

I saw a sign someone was holding at a football game on tv that said " Jesus loves our US troops". Really? Jesus who said to turn the other cheek is on the side of our military? I'm not a religious person but it amazes me at the hypocracy of some people. And what's with the NFL promoting the military so much?

OK - let's unpack that. Whereas I would never carry such a sign and consider it likely misguided for the reasons you state, troops are people, and taking it at that level makes it uncontroversial. Love the sinner, hate the sin and all that. Did you think that the liberation of Auschwitz was immoral, or that it could have been accomplished short of war? Jesus said to turn the other cheek in a personal manner, not as a statement of national policy. The death penalty argument cuts the same way. Whereas Jesus shielded the adultress for the crime of the heart, he didn't perform any action to save the flesh of the condemned thieves, nor did he say anything in regards to the severity of their punishment. I am not in favor of physical punishment for property crimes, so please do not misundestand me.

As far as the NFL (and MLB/NBA etc etc) and the seeming overzealous adoration for the military, you aren't imagining it. I think it is partly to atone for the media behavior that went beyond the pale during the Bush admin, and partly to innoculate the current admin for the "fundamental transformation" taking place behind the scenes. I remember when Bill Clinton was inaugurated, Ron Silver - a self professed liberal at the time - remarked at the AF jet flyover... "those are our planes now".

I can't up arrow you but I think you make some good points. The sign that was referenced may have not been bad. But the way a lot of people put the military on a pedestal as it serves evil while at the same time calling themselves Christians is sad.

I see a lot of complaining about the TV here, and a lot of other places too. Honestly, you can make a HUGE difference if you would just cancel your cable. You don't have to worry, you won't be without TV long - if enough of you just cancel. Because the cable companies will come back to you on their knees begging you to re-subscribe. And this is what you will tell them: We'll come back when WE get to pick the stations we want to pay for. Why do I have to pay for MSNBC, BET, MTV, Al Jazeera, and Hallmark? WE will pick the thirty or whatever number stations we want. And you will give them to us.

Watch the TV content change overnight.

But you gotta make that first step. Cancel your cable ASAP. I did. Feels great! And I saved a fortune.

The more relevant and useful question is whether TPTB truly support or care for the Troops that fought, bled and died for them and their Petro-dollar wealth.

Judging by a recent case of a fallen Special Forces soldier, I'd have to say "N-O, NO!"

Although his wife and oldest child get Death Benefits, the younger child (an infant) does not. Because he was not yet born when his father died in combat. But, hey, "Rules are rules", and we all know how these people love blind obedience and 'Rules'.

"Honor, Support our Troops" my eye! What the sheeple are actually supposed to "support" is (a) the IDEA of supporting the military, and (b) to materially support them after TPTB have no further use for them.

Surprisingly, a sizable number of people who believe in Jesus reject the Yuletide traditions. Why? They point to at least four reasons.

First, they do not believe that Jesus was born in either December or January. The Bible does not give a specific date. It simply states: “There were also in that same country shepherds living out of doors and keeping watches in the night over their flocks. And suddenly Jehovah’s angel stood by them, and . . . the angel said to them: ‘. . . There was born to you today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”—Luke 2:8-11.
Facts point to Jesus’ birth at approximately the beginning of October when shepherds with their flocks would still spend the night in the fields. The countryside around Bethlehem experiences the coldest weather during the months of December and January. Hence, to keep them warm at night, flocks are herded into protective shelters.

A second reason: The only event Jesus specifically instructed his followers to commemorate was his death, not his birth, and this was to be done as a simple communion meal. (Luke 22:19, 20) Note, too, that the Gospels of Mark and John are silent about Jesus’ birth.

A third reason: There is no historical evidence that the early Christians celebrated the birth of the Christ. But they did memorialize his death. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) It was not until more than 300 years after Jesus’ birth that Christendom officially began to observe Christmas on December 25. Interestingly, in the mid-17th century, an act of parliament banned Christmas celebrations in England. In the United States, the Massachusetts General Court did the same. Why? The book The Battle for Christmas, says: “There is no biblical or historical reason to place the birth of Jesus on December 25.” It adds that to the Puritans, “Christmas was nothing but a pagan festival covered with a Christian veneer.”

That brings us to a fourth reason: The unsavory origin of the celebration itself. The roots of Christmas can be traced back to pagan Rome with its mixture of festivals for honoring the agricultural god Saturn and the sun god Sol Invictus, or Mithra. Anthropologists Christian Rätsch and Claudia Müller-Ebeling, coauthors of the book Pagan Christmas, write: “Like many pre-Christian customs and beliefs, the old feast commemorating the yearly return of the sun was rededicated to the birth of Christ

Even Rome eventually stopped providing panem to the masses. Rioting and starvation ensued which coincided with the Visigoth raids. If fiat is printed ad infinitum as an accelerating rate, a $280 per month SNAP card will not be able to buy a few days worth of food. Ergo chaos.

Ever been to a kids party and musical chairs is played? Each round a chair is taken away when the music stops. When the last chair remains and the music stops for the final round, many times I have seen the two kids struggling for the chair get into a fight. We the citizenry, are in an elaborate game of musical chairs. Slowly the chairs are being taken from us.

Those who dismiss the idea of a collective consciousness have never been exposed to and influenced by the hive mind of the stampeding herd.

Not just walmart; I passed Cool Springs Mall about 3:30 this am and the parking lot was about a quarter full.  I guessed those are just the employees.  At 23° fahrenheit, they are parking a bit closer than spec but that headcount wouldn't be there if the shoppers were not statistically certain to follow

MY local big chain store had an absolutely full lot

and the big signs, all over the store, were "Hurry, socks 50% off!"

people were all over the bins

no wonder government does everything to the rest

Don't know about "hive mind", but Asch's conformity experiments are conclusive.

Yep, unless you are one of the few who can look at your own society with cool detachment,  well aware of your own human behavioural urges, it's difficult not to be influenced by the herd. Especially when it's on a full greed/fear rampage.

Having said that, I have no words to describe the disgust I felt when I watched the videos expecting comedy.  Disgust, tragedy, humour - they're really closely related aren't they?

I don't know where/when/how this aspect of my personality developed, but I truly detest crowds. When I find myself in a crowded market or on a crowded side walk I start acting out, 'accidentally' tripping people, stand in a way that blocks traffic, etc. It's just weird.

Best I avoid this sort of thing, or I'd end up starring in one of these videos.

"Send a message"...lmao.  Another great t-giving dinner discussion with my Fox-News-addled family who nailed each of the following contradictions with no trace of irony, pairing like wine and cheese:

1.  Why don't all of these people with entitlements go out and get jobs?  matches up with If they make people work on Black Friday, I'm not shopping because I don't want to support that.

2. All this Black Friday stuff, if it keeps going on, Thanksgiving will disappear (flips from one football game to another).

3. Yeah gold will go up by inflation, but by then 1300 oz. of gold will buy an egg!

Unfortunately the world is awash with cheap unskilled labor. If Wal Mart employees walked off the job they would be replaced in ten minutes with more obedient or more desperate people. The only thing that will help is pinning minmum wage to cost of living increases and unionizing Wal Mart. It would take massive organized unrelenting pressure on gov't for that to happen. In the meantime,  we help Wal Mart out by supplementing their worker's income with welfare.
