Polls & popular vote are meaningless.  The founders of this country knew the dangers of a democracy, and that's why they setup a representative republic.

It is funny that you got any downvotes on that.  It is true.  On the whole, they are a class of looters who will vote for handouts.

They need to change election laws so that anyone who is taking government assistance is not allowed to vote or make campaign contributions.  If you are a ward of the state, you are not participating in society.  That includes bank employees and managers, Federal Reserve employees and government employees.

It used to be, way back at this country's founding that only white male property owners were enfranchised.  And for good reason.  Owning property basically meant you were self-sustaining.  Voting handouts for yourself was an absurdity, and by law it could not happen.  But look where we are today with the FSA.  This is just another example of how fucked we are.

In "On Representative Government" (1861), John Stuart Mill (quite the progressive of his day) said "the receipt of parish relief should be a peremptory disqualification for the franchise....He who cannot by his labor suffice for his own support has no claim to the privilege of helping himself to the money of others. By becoming dependent on the remaining members of the community for actual subsistence, he abdicates his claim to equal rights with them in other respects."

And Mill is right.

Back to history class for you.

Neither race nor property qualification are mentioned in the US constitution.  All free men (even the *gasp* darkie types)  could vote in federal elections as of 1782 (if not prevented informally by local officials, of course).  Thomas Paine (who he?) would have considered you a Tory worthy of tar and feathers.

I agree on two fronts. First, all polls show Congressional approval in the toilet, around 7-11%, if I recall. Yet, 90% of them will get reelected. So, what is the significance of the poll except a Democrat talking point for Obama.

Second, it is a Constitutional Republic. This is to prevent the tyranny of the majority but it is failing. So, tell me Obama polls lousy and I will tell you that it does not matter if he promises more free goodies to the serfs. He can get enough votes in the Congress and there is now a Supreme Court willing to back his play and fairly unlimited executive power. You just have to title things properly like "fee" versus "tax". Then you can do anything you like.

Political entropy.

Freedom Guy...The Constitution originally declared that the US President was to be elected by the US Representatives. (The Electorial College.) US Senators were to be selected by their respective State Legislatures.

The only vote for Federal Office that any citizen had was that for their own US Representative.

It is a Representative Republic. Learn some History. We are better educated in this community.

Dear Tall Tom:

I hate to burst your self-anointed constitutional scholar bubble, but the House and the Electoral College are not the same. The president is not to be elected by the House unless the College fails to elect a president with a majority of votes in the College:

From Wikipedia:

"The United States Electoral College is the institution that officially elects the President and Vice President of the United States every four years. The President and Vice President are not elected directly by the voters. Instead, they are elected by "electors" who are chosen by popular vote on a state-by-state basis.[3] Electors are apportioned to each state and the District of Columbia, but not to territorial possessions of the United States, such as Puerto Rico and Guam. The number of electors in each state is equal to the number of members of Congress to which the state is entitled,[4] while the Twenty-third Amendment has granted the District of Columbia with the minimum number of electors permissible for a state, which is currently three. In total, there are 538 electors, based on there being 435 representatives and 100 senators, plus the three electors from the District of Columbia.

"The candidate that receives an absolute majority of electoral votes (currently 270) for the offices of President or Vice President is elected to that office. The Twelfth Amendment provides for what happens if the Electoral College fails to elect a President or Vice President. If no candidate receives a majority for President, then the House of Representatives will select the President, with each state delegation (instead of each Representative) having only one vote. If no candidate receives a majority for Vice President, then the Senate will select the Vice President, with each Senator having one vote.

"Article II, Section 1, Clause 3 of the Constitution provided for the original fashion by which the President and Vice President were to be chosen by the electors. In the original system, the candidate who received both the most votes and votes from more than half of the electors would become President; the candidate receiving the second most votes would become Vice President.

"The design of the Electoral College was based upon several assumptions and anticipations of the Framers of the Constitution:[15]

Each state would employ the district system of allocating electors.
Each presidential elector would exercise independent judgment when voting.
Candidates would not pair together on the same ticket with assumed placements toward each office of President and Vice President.
The system as designed would rarely produce a winner, thus sending the election to Congress.

"On these facts, some scholars have described the Electoral College as being intended to nominate candidates from which the Congress would then select a President and Vice President.[16]

"Each state government is free to have its own plan for selecting its electors."
+++++++++++

The truth of the matter is that if the Electoral College were free to operate as designed, we would have very different presidents than we do now. The idea was to avoid populism, and leave the choice up to a body representing the populace, without giving candidates the opportunity to endlessly bribe the population with far-flung promises as the population is now bribed.

Semantics. The Constitution makes it Representative Republic which is why it is a Constitutional Republic meaning that it is the final authority on the structure and nature of the government. Before that it was Articles of Confederation. Change the Constitution and we can become anything. Wonder why Representatives do not elect the President and States no longer pick Senators? Because the Constitution was amended.

If this community was "better educated" (better than what?) then we would have fewer leftists and you would not be posting. However, I will meet you halfway and say this is an educational forum once to delve down a bit.

As the Plankton die off the Oceans become depleted of Oxygen. Since the Oceans cover over 70% of the Earth's surface you can be assured that the Plankton contribute, through photosynthesis, that percentage of the amount of Oxygen to our 22% Oxygen atmosphere. Oxygen is a Gas and, what is not used buy Aquatic Bioforms, transpires out of the Oceans into the atmosphere.

And you thought that the bulk of the Oxygen originates from Land Plants? What a Science ILLITERATE.

So you can enjoy your slow suffocation as the Plankton die off will deplete Atmospheric Oxygen. Just remember. You deserve it because of your ignorance. The elections were totally rigged.  Search 1981 Consent Decree RNC DNC.

I watched during the primaries as Romney/Rove stole the midwest away from Santorum for Romney.  It was in the cities with late ballot stuffing.  Obama did the same thing to Romney in all the swing states.  Romney "won" Florida, Ohio, Wisc, MI, VA, but it was stolen by massive vote fraud.    We had the same game in VA and NJ recently.  Christie gets to win because he is NWO.  Cuncinelli was not on the team.

Hillary might not make it through the primaries again.  She is too weak in my opinion.  The Repub voters need to make sure it is not Jeb, Christie, Rubio, Ryan or some other RINO but I doubt it really matters.

The only good thing is the RNC contributions are drying up.  People who have any money left to give are giving directly to hopefully conserv/libertarian Repubs.  RINOs are in big trouble.

The only way this stuff happens is if he becomes so radioactive that the Democrats impeach him.   This is what happened to Nixon.  With the exception of going off the gold standard=devalue, Nixon was a choir boy.

I think he had no choice thanks to LBJ's guns & war on poverty.   France was redeeming dollars for gold - hand over fist.

Obama will tell the Dems to don't worry about elections because they can steal them like 2008, 2012, NJ, VA (They wanted Christie).   He should have lost in 2012 and the Dems should have lost the Senate big time.  They rig elections.

So does he get so bad that the Dems come to the Repubs and say we want to impeach him?  Well the word out there is Dems are on their own for the 2014 election.

Do I believe this?  I am not sure.  Until the media turns on him (TV & Hollywood) then I doubt it.   This is why I tell people cancel TV, Hollywood and starve the beast.  This will be a BAD Christmas for retailers.  Will it be enough?  He IS the cancer.  And until business, the media and others bleed money then they will back him.  If the price is too high - he is toast.

Business is like everyone else. They look to make lemonaid from rotting lemons. They will continue to fire and reduce costs to keep their bottom line intact enough so as to not see their stock prices plummet. QE is keeping most of these businesses afloat as profits almost seem irrelevant anymore. We see business that show continuing losses but their stock is up or at least level so who cares? Now more talk about raising minimum wages and a "new" consensus from economists proclaiming that wages have no real impact on employment. WTF? Are they all just nuts? To come to this conclusion they would also have to assume that price for any commodity is irrelevant. So what are all those black Friday sales about? We see continuing price cuts in most of this useless junk just to keep sales even, generating little to no profit, yet being crucial to our economy. We are completely divorced from any reality now.

Any judges appointed by Obowel Movement, including to SCOTUS, should be removed as not valid.  Illegal aliens or ineligible usurpers cannot make any valid appointments or sign any legislation into law.

I used to think people were merely uninformed or misinformed, and I tried to help.

No longer. Waste of time. Something about trying to teach a pig to sing.

ACA?
Wasn't it called Obamacare prior to the fiasco it has become? Even Obama no longer wants his name associated with it. Or perhaps the ACA was too embarrassed to be associated with him.

It's the spread between approve and disapprove. That's how it can go negative and I had to go to their website to see what data was being used.

I've said for awhile that whoever makes these charts is not very good at making charts.  Axies need to be labeled (it would solve 80% of the problems) for starters and there's nothing wrong with a footnote or two.

If any reader looks at a chart and can't discern what's going on....it's a bad chart (And this goes for graphs, tables, maps, etc.)

No matter how bad it is in the USA or how bad the community organizer in chief performs he will always be re-elected.  He could run 10 terms in a row and never lose again.  We are like Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Camden or any other welfare/disability/EBT dependent area - except now it's the whole country.  Obamanation is the ghetto writ large acrosss the nation.  RIP America and hello progressive control freak paradise where we are all equal and any unequal division of wealth is entirely due to racism/sexism/homophobia/etc.

I would be inclined to agree but still wonder. I recall how there was little support for Obama from most blacks early in his first run. Something about Jesse Jackson wanting to cut his nuts or something. The thing about politics is that while they can come together for a communal hunt, they are still cannibals and if hungry enough have no real compunction about eating their own. If the liberal black community starts to believe Obama is hurting "their cause" he will be cast aside. It is ultimately all about power and "winning".

And yet some in Congress want to do away with the presidential term limits.  You just cannot make this shit up anymore. I told the folks stating this a year ago they were nuts and now I think I am nuts !  I guess their intent is to get rid of the 22nd amendment.

If the Electoral CXollege functioned as it was designed, Obama would not be president:

"On these facts, some scholars have described the Electoral College as being intended to nominate candidates from which the Congress would then select a President and Vice President.[16]"
+++++++++++
