Gold Gets Jobs Leak Early Again?

Tyler Durden's picture

It wouldn't be a non-farm-payrolls (or for that matter any government report) without the ubiquitous "early" move in precious metals before the report is given to the general public. As Nanex shows, Gold's price moved in a 'correct' downward (taper-on) way on the "good" news that jobs are 'improving' 7 seconds before the report hit...

Via Nanex,

1. Trades in All Futures.
Lots of movement seconds before 8:30 Jobs news.

2. Quotes in All Futures.

3. February 2014 Gold (GC) Futures.

4. February 2014 Gold (GC) Futures - Zooming in to 8:29:47 to 8:30:14
Gold moved sharply a full 7 seconds before the official Employment news release.

It's NFP day. Gold was going to get sold regardless of the jobs number posted.  Why not get started early?

Remarkable news from FOFOA; fake coins on Ebay. Haven't read the whole story yet, but take a look.

Don't be too hasty today. Counterintuitive moves in gold to shake out the weak hands with JPM now net long big in the COMEX leaves limited time on the downside. So WHY NOT take it up now.......I hope these bastards push it cheaper because its all a gift here. You will look back on this in a few months and say "BOY was I a stupid chicken shit for not loading up" instead you're looking at Bitcoin.....heheheheheehheehehehehehe

When the shorts can't push gold down on a day when the payrolls come in higher than the highest forecast, the gig is up for the gold shorts.  Taper will be positive for gold.  Buy the rumor, sell the news.

Gold is going to get hit no matter what.  No need for a leak to get the ball rolling.  The folks who are making up the numbers are also the folks hitting gold.  How many times do you gold bugs have to get punched in the nose before you realize you're fucking with the biggest bully on the financial playground?  Suck it up and take it like a bug.

Then after the bomb drops and all is destroyed only the bugs will have survived in the cracks amongst and despite the carnage of the livestock.

I realize when you will really need to own precious metals...you won't be able to find any. That's why I started buying it over a decade ago.

That's not what he said. He said he has been buying for a decade. So maybe he bought some at $400 and maybe be bought some at $1,900. And maybe he bought all through the middle. Point is when it matters, it won't "matter" where in that range he paid. All that matters is that be owns. And you my friend will be left holding shit salad.

I was kinda hoping for this story "before the leak" as it were. panic is starting to set in as the folks trading "long only" need a sneak peek...and are willing to pay for it. oil prices are in deep doo-doo too I think...but we'll see. nGDP targeting means even larger monetizations going forward I order to "target" a base level of growth in the economy. This will be done because Keynsianism has failed...but monetarism "in extreme form" has not. in this context gold is in a "glut" believe it or not...if it's any consolation so are a lot of other things.

No its just hedge fund managers trying to make a momentum ignition. Failed again as have their last years. But keep trying! It has been a very lucrative strategy to follow their steps and make the opposing moves at the right moment.

Please ask uncle Carl if you have any doubt about this :)

Gold is solid.

Large movements in the paper price? Those are like liquid. Is there some entity, like The Fed, supplying a lot of paper liquidity to the market?

Did anyone bother to think that some (perhaps more than half?) of the physical gold heading into Hong Kong and Shanghai these past months is not just for China? Research 08-08-2008 on the opening day of the Olympics when Papa and Dubya Bush were there.

If you want an interesting trade, check out NG, which is in a massive short squeeze launched by very slightly bullish EIA #s (that ALWAYS leak BTW) and it's being pushed up further by gas wells freezing up from the cold weather pushing east.  San Juan basin wells have much better protection against cold weather than the dumb Texans have.  They call it freeze-offs.

Best way to play is to wait for a top and then write OTM calls at major strikes like 4.50 where there's always a market so stops can stay on overnight.  Three weeks to expiry.  NG cannot stay above 4.00 for very long because secular trend is down so bears dominate in big money action.  EIA #s for NG are 24 hours after the CL #s.
