Japan Press: "China-Japan War To Break Out In January"
Following China's unveiling of its air defense identification zone (ADIZ) in the East China Sea, overlapping a large expanse of territory also claimed by Japan, the Japanese media has, as The Japan Times reports, had a dramatically visceral reaction on the various scenarios of a shooting war. From Sunday Mainichi's "Sino-Japanese war to break out in January," to Flash's "Simulated breakout of war over the Senkakus," the nationalism (that Kyle Bass so notably commented on) is rising. Which side, wonders Shukan Gendai ominously, will respond to a provocation by pulling the trigger? The game of chicken between two great superpowers is about to begin has begun.
Five out of nine weekly magazines that went on sale last Monday and Tuesday contained scenarios that raised the possibility of a shooting war.
...
First, let’s take Flash (Dec. 17), which ran a “Simulated breakout of war over the Senkakus,” with Mamoru Sato, a former Air Self-Defense Force general, providing editorial supervision. Flash’s scenario has the same tense tone as a Clancy novel, including dialog. On a day in August 2014, a radar operator instructs patrolling F-15J pilots to “scramble north” at an altitude of 65,000 feet to intercept a suspected intruder and proceeds from there.
Sunday Mainichi (Dec. 15) ran an article headlined “Sino-Japanese war to break out in January.” Political reporter Takao Toshikawa tells the magazine that the key to what happens next will depend on China’s economy.
“The economic situation in China is pretty rough right now, and from the start of next year it’s expected to worsen,” says Toshikawa. “The real-estate boom is headed for a total collapse and the economic disparities between the costal regions and the interior continue to widen. I see no signs that the party’s Central Committee is getting matters sorted out.”
An unnamed diplomatic source offered the prediction that the Chinese might very well set off an incident “accidentally on purpose”: “I worry about the possibility they might force down a civilian airliner and hold the passengers hostage,” he suggested.
In an article described as a “worst-case simulation,” author Osamu Eya expressed concerns in Shukan Asahi Geino (Dec. 12) that oil supertankers bound for Japan might be targeted.
“Japan depends on sea transport for oil and other material resources,” said Eya. “If China were to target them, nothing could be worse to contemplate.”
In an air battle over the Senkakus, the Geino article continues, superiority of radar communications would be a key factor in determining the outcome. Japanese forces have five fixed radar stations in Kyushu and four in Okinawa. China would certainly target these, which would mean surrounding communities would also be vulnerable.
One question that seems to be on almost everybody’s mind is, will the U.S. military become involved?
Shukan Gendai (Dec. 14) speculated that Chinese leader Xi Jinping might issue an order for a Japanese civilian airliner to be shot down. As a result of this, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier would come to Japan’s aid and send up fighters to contend with the Chinese.
“Unlike Japan, the U.S. military would immediately respond to a radar lock-on threat by shooting down the Chinese planes,” asserts military analyst Mitsuhiro Sera. “It would naturally regard an aircraft flying overhead as hostile. They would shoot at it even if that were to risk discrediting the Obama administration.”
“With the creation of Japan’s National Security Council on Dec. 4, Japan-U.S. solidarity meets a new era,” an unnamed diplomatic source told Shukan Gendai. “If a clash were to occur between the U.S. and China, it would be natural for the Self-Defense Forces to provide backup assistance. This was confirmed at the ‘two-plus-two’ meeting on Oct. 3.”
“China is bent on wresting the Senkakus away from Japan, and if Japan dispatches its Self-Defense Forces, China will respond with naval and air forces,” Saburo Takai predicts in Flash. “In the case of an incursion by irregular forces, that would make it more difficult for the U.S. to become involved. Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs would protest through diplomatic channels, but China would attempt to present its takeover as a fait accompli.
“China fears a direct military confrontation with the U.S.,” Takai adds. “A few days ago, two U.S. B-52s transited the ADIZ claimed by China, but the flights were not for any vague purpose. I suppose the Chinese tracked the flights on their radar, but the B-52s have electronic detection functions that can identify radar frequencies, wavelength and source of the signals. These flights are able to lay bare China’s air defense systems. It really hits home to the Chinese that they can’t project their military power.”
Which side, wonders Shukan Gendai, will respond to a provocation by pulling the trigger? The game of chicken between two great superpowers is about to begin.

Unintended Consequences. Markets Don't Like Them. Tell those kids to play nice in the sandbox or the Market might go a little lower.
You mean the market might not go as high.
SUN TZU BITCHES !
Can I offer some advice to China's head of defense. Send a tweet to Abe. "Bend over, stick your head beween your legs and kiss your ass good bye". Then drop a fucking bomb on Fukishima reactor #4.
Next to it. If you hit it direct, it would fly everywhere. Next to it would knock it over, but not make such a mess.
Sum Ting Wong?
Let me help: BOOOOMMM!!!

Savor the Glow.
China would like nothing more than to put a historic beatdown on Japan - and militarily and economically it will be a disaster for Japan (unless they put the nuke threat right up front).
I don't think many in the West realize just how deep the emnity runs in China, or Korea for that matter for Japan.
It would also be an unbe-fucking-leiveable disaster for global trade as we've known it in the post war era.
Crazy talk. China cannot hit radar stations in Okinawa without hiting Americans. Once we get hit China's mini Airforce will be eliminated. China has a very little navy and cannot project power.
Bonus, we won't have to pay any outstanding debt to China once a shooting war starts..... win win win for us.
Cancel our debt to China, and outlaw imports of Chinese goods.
Imagine, the U.S. making televisions and can-openers again (and everything else).
At the least it would resuscitate Sharp, Panasonic, and Sony; along with Taiwanese manufacturing.
This is probably why Japan and Taiwan will be sacrificed in a slow appeasement; we can't seem to live without the cheap Chinese stuff.
.
I don't think US corporations, Wall Street, and Vichy DC would stand for that at all.
ebworthen
Well said indeed.
With what money will the U.S. Government keep all of those 750 military bases and counting going along with the latest ships under construction at Newport News shipyard without the Chinese "buying up more of it"?...
If we're still alive in 10 years someone is going to unravel the mystery of what happened behind that act of "Mother Nature" on 3-11-2011 and the real reason why all of the delays were put in place for more than 3 years to evacuate Tokyo and give them a summer olympic games at the same time.
It's beyond apocalyptic and insane!
In WII, we could turn a corn field into rolling out B-24s in a month.
Now, not so much.
Besides, the scooter bound blivit, food gullet stuffing Morry Povit watching labor force couldn't be away from a bathtub edge to crap for longer than 20 minutes to do anything.
On the plus side the Chinese are so greedy we could get the PLA to make the weapons cheaper. Think Milo Minderbinder in Catch-22.
Cannot project power????!!!
ICBMs
Know what the IC bit is short for?
Look at the serious research on the number of nukes required to destroy a country (A clue - Not many)
A book called Dark Sun by Richard Rhodes is a good read if you wish to have a decent understanding of the dangers of nukes and why the world is the way it is.
Think a shooting war (rather than a proxy) woud not go nuclear?
I have serious doubts that it wouldn't, given the level of intelligence and knowledge that the world's politicians posess.
.
I Ching?
ICBM = "Infernal Citizenism Brown Mao"
Alas, alas, ill despair, it's a mattering stench carried thereon. Obtuse, obtuse, and crustier than the Krapikaze (Bovine Wind).
whistling by the graveyard?
How does one project power with something no knows about? Do they shootdown a Jap airliner with an Icbm? Do they enforce the AZIZ with ICBMs? Do they tell the Japanese if you don't relinquish the Seduku they will be nuked? How did that work out for them in the Korean war?
If that were the case no one would never fuck with the US. Illogical. The nukes will be used when one side knows there will be no retaliation.
Also what guidance system will the Chinese be using? GPS? Good luck with that.
It is a mistake to dismiss Chinese subs. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-492804/The-uninvited-guest-Chinese-sub-pops-middle-U-S-Navy-exercise-leaving-military-chiefs-red-faced.html
what is long and hard and yellow and full of seamen?
there was a report a few months ago about a chinese sub firing a missile into the air off the coast of california:
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/chinese-sub-catalina.htm#.UqUITsV...
and also 2 missiles over oregon, though i am not fully confident of the source of this article:

There was one off the coast of Texas also.
Kansas too
How many US aircraft carriers does it take to equal $1.3T in treasuries?
Even Shinzo Abe seems not to realize. Otherwise he would quit those shrine visits, and make a "We're deeply sorry for WW2 cruelties"-visit to China and South Korea.
Great point, SK is shifting for it's own needs
"as the trust horizon shrinks"
Very dangerous.
Couldn't the US ramp up manufacturing in the event of war in Asia?
The great things about wars is that they tend to recover ailing economies from recessions / depressions. Look for America to swoop in to the rescue if this war really starts.
Don't forget your war bonds.
Could I have them denominated in bitcoins or gold?
no, they really don't.
that is a myth, aka "the broken window fallacy", a term coined by the great Frederic Bastiat:
http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/08/broken-window-fallacy.asp
what helps economies is production, savings, and trust.
destruction, taxation, inflation, all harm the economy and are all associated with wars.

Chuck Hagel is on a surprise visit to meet US troops in Afghanistan today, with the implied intention to meet Karzai in Kabul to do some arm-twisting in order to get him to sign the agreement that lets 8000 soldiers stay there for another 10 years.
What does Karzai? He shuns him, flies to Tehran and signs an extensive agreement with Iran.
Like in "Don't let the door hit you on your way out"???
Priceless.
Merika is seen as weak. Note this move by China and Russia stepiing in front of Syria moves. Obama is a clueless pussy; I was not for Syrian esclation, but the fact remains that we are seen as weak, b/c our president is a weakling
BTW, can we at last, ditch this whole "superpower" BS. Really, I'm thinkin' "mediocrepower" is far more accurate these days. Applies to all former superpowers and wannbes.
That's all bullshiite!
Cause once we incorporate women into all our combat units we will once again be the envy of the world.
Our military might will surpass all others!

oh goody. 4.4 million chinese army (all men) against 2.2 million us army (30% women).....China now has a reason to fight.
I think the greater possibility is that Japan does something to draw the US into facing China. Abe is backed by some pure pre-war type Imperialists.

You decide
maybe japan should incourage gun ownership. arm the population.
Those Pacific War-era bamboo spears will be dusted off instead. Only the police and yakuza are allowed guns (it is amazing how creative people can be with small knives, baseball bats, and the odd train).
Difficult to carry in your pocket though those trains.
Easy squeezy: Trains That Pleezy...
Blah blah
Enjoy your knife, baseball bat and train.
I'll assume I can win, decisively, against your bat, knife, and crazy straw with my Springfield.
Pretty sure I can evade a train.
India will take the opportunity to attack from the rear!
I'm not sure where you're going with that but I read somewhere that's what Reggie Love said every time Obama invited him down to "the undisclosed man-boy love location."
It was fast - new Syria is in the making - economy must totally busted
Gold Catalyst: Dollar survival behind US-China tensions
There are no bears left in the equity markets and no bulls are left in Gold. Bitcoin is rising to the sky and FED has found the youth portion secret: the more you print the better it gets. Only question is left why China, India, Turkey and Thailand are buying record amount of Gold this year? Now we have the answer and it is spelled out by Press TV this time. Please keep in mind that it is Iran network, but it is exactly the most important part of this message - who is now talking about it. http://sufiy.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/gold-catalyst-dollar-survival-behind...

Iceland!
iceland's military may be small in number, but they are tough! they could easily take antigua and barbuda in a fight!
It won't be a fair fight of chicken because there is already one in the WH.
If they start shooting at each other I bet gold will go up.
We all hope that the death of innocent civilians will reap big rewards for you.
Oh, you mean like the TBTFs
The world can be rough sometimes. It's almost impossible to invest anywhere without contributing to destruction or bloodshed. Think of the war carnage making energy sector investors wealthy. My point is, don't let this sabre rattling deter anyone from accumulating precious metals.
Where is overcapcity most dire in the world?
1) male Chinese citizens,
2) unemployed youth
The only question with today's proliferation of nukes, how do you fight a contained war when both sides have a huge left hook and the opponent has NO defense against the hook? No nuke powers have ever gone toe to toe.
China bombs fuckushima. game over
Japan continues to ignore Fukushima. Game over.
# uncontained melted cores, 1 entire hot core sitting in a water bath with the tube smashed up, a new outside radiation reading that can kill a man in 20 minutes. Government is covering up the scale of contamination. Thousands of spent fuel rods all over the site in damaged storage ponds inside blown up reactor buildings. What's not to ignore??????
I think if China was able to drop one five hundred pound bomb on Fuskushima, then the JSDF would be so busy with that they would forget about any islands in the South China Sea....
Why bomb Fuckushima? There are perfectly good reactors in Japan they could hit that are not yet leaking radioactivity all over the place.
Korea is the wild card.
Which Korea? Meth Korea, or Samsung Korea?
This is not 1941. A single Chinese sub on any coast can turn out the lights in the good old U.S.A. If you think they have not gamed an EMP strike you are dreaming.
Yeah, but we'll get em back by blowing up the Wall of China and encouraging the Mongol hoards to re-invade.
That'll show em!
How can a sub influence the FEDs Electronic Money Printing?
Serious question, I pay for cable, watch TV send my kids to pubic school, then complain like a worthless bitch disregarding the choices I've made.
Much depends on how closely the former Soviet Nuclear Submarine force has been called in to advise and aid the rising Chinese submarine force. I think we would be fools to equate Chinese with useless military equipment. WHen you have 1.5 billion people, many highly educated, the pool of talent of the highest level must be very large. The Party and Communist Red Military would not be unaware of where the talent lies and how to access it for their modernization.
I believe China is someone to take seriously. How much so, I can not predict.
Another salient point.
Russia is good at subs and some impressive sub "equipment"
New Russian Submarines Are So Silent That The U.S. Navy Calls Them "Black Holes"
Thanks for the link. I was a US Navy anti submarine specialist, and I had experience with some types of the USSR's submarine fleet. They had a lot of junky boats, but also some world class submarines that could dive to extraordinary depths and do some amazing things.
Stop breaking down my shitty wall!

125 million vs. 1.3 billion.....Who wins?!!!
Could you imagine a human wave of Chinese paratroopers over Japan? That would be sick
The bankers.
The house always wins because the game is rigged.
EUJPY surges to new highs, even these war rumours cannot stop it
Well it's over nat gas/energy - south china sea. Japan and China are net importors of oil, both have oil inflation/costs. Both economies are stuffed, Japan is in pre-war trade i.e outright monetization of debt and funding to build up it's war machine (has been for over a decade), China now has to create nationalism to curb a looming backlash against it's crony commie urban wasteland. Obama should stay out of it, let them have their skirmish. It will kill the markets though, particularly USD/Bonds/Stocks/spec trades, gold and oil will be bid. The FED will outright monetize the whole short end, predicated at a trillion+ a pop. The system will begin to collapse as we hit hyperinflation then straight into massive wealth destroying deflation. There will be panic everywhere.
There will be panic everywhere........"with an attendant sensation of unease." (Michelman, 1967)
If Backdoor gets involved, everyone will lose.
On the plus side, about 50 countries will be after his gay ass.
OK. I'll bite........who is "Backdoor"?
Obama - AKA bath house Barry.
The scenario that is unfolding is remarkably like our view that we published on 30 Sept 2013. Howevr, we believe that the major escalation in the conflict will not be from Japanese Self Defence Force F-15s or from USN carriers, but rather a Chinese push on high vulnerble systems such as payment and settelements computers, especially those ones run by Central Banks. The resultant chaos from that sort of attack would be far more damaging than anything a Chinese J-7 fighter could do.
See more on the scenario at: http://www.brokenmirrors.ca/?p=252 Welcome To The Front – Social and Economic Warfare is all about You
Thanks for link.
Very little is spoken about how truly vulnerable our systems are.
p.s. Who downvotes the shareing of a different perspective?
Nothing will keep a man in everlasting ignorance more than contempt prior to investigation.
Indeed, having worked on these systems I was amazed at how little most other people working on them seemed to care about the nature of the work. The damn things are actually important, but they are treated like Wi-Fi systems at Starbucks. The Davos Foundation did note that complexity in such systems was a big risk in the 2012 risk report - but few others even mention it.

And what is the US whispering into the theater?
the US needs to stay out of ANY foreign conflict of ANY kind until it replaces obama. the US is NO position to take part in any high stakes diplomacy or conflict until it can seat a competent administration. this one has proven it can't handle this stuff. until then, Japan needs to chart her own course.
Ya think? Obama is one world class liar though.... Or does he just lie to us?
Hate is a powerful emotion.
Convince the population that an outside group is responcible for their misery, and presto, a united population.
As an added bonus, the masses even forget who screwed them to begin with.
Here in the U.S. we are going for the trifecta of Race, Religion and Economic standing. Just to make sure we don't get any ideas about uniteing against our trusted leaders.
“The economic situation in China is pretty rough right now, and from the start of next year it’s expected to worsen,” says Toshikawa. “The real-estate boom is headed for a total collapse and the economic disparities between the costal regions and the interior continue to widen. I see no signs that the party’s Central Committee is getting matters sorted out.”...
After the reported rapes in Okinawa by U.S. Marines some years back the Japanese had the window to reduce the Yankee menace but did not seize the moment. Just like the submarine base they said would be off limits to the United States in the 90's among so many other bases of operation that DoD and the IC have been pushing when they tell the Japanese Government it's time to "jump" they jump -Uncle Sam always gets it's way and this is only more proof!
Japan doesn't want a confrontation with there biggest and most lucrative trading partner next door that is a given.
Just look at NROs new patch? It says it all folks!
I beg humbly the Celstials: do not engage US Forces.
If they do, the Japanese will have those ghost cities to move into as Japan increases its territory.
And so will we in the United States as well. Just think what economic chaos the Chinese CB will sew when they dump $2 trillion in American ass paper all at once if we should choose to start a war with them?
Just who in this Country including those currently in uniform are going to fight that one and maintain the great professional job they've been doing in the unrest department in the Middle East and I might add at home? Decisions... Decisions...
Can't be in all these places at once now can we?
Pride always cometh before a fall
War means Chinese assets will be frozen just like Iran 1979....
They also lose all trade.....
But how about Iran 2013?...
Laughing hard....
I guess all the lighthearted comments here are just a response to something we probably have little control over anyway, but I really dont think anything related to this matter should be taken lightly. Everything concerning Fukushima and a possible conflict between China and Japan scares the hell out of me... Could this be the ¨Black Swan¨ that triggers the coming colapse? If so our PM´s should finally break out, but the other related consequences are certainly not something we should be looking forward to.
Not looking forward to itat all, if it happens. I just smell the politicians and wall street looking for an excuse and coverup for all the crime they've committed.
China flexing its mussels, can you imagine a 200.000.000 million army ?
Yah exactly!
Nobody can actually imagine ZH posters grasping the english language that has been around for 1000's of years.
You are a clown.
Don't forget the clams. They won't be happy anymore.
As noted previously, the US is between a rock and a hard place on this issue. Both China and Japan can dump treasuries, sending the US economy into the abyss. If the US doesn't back Japan, Japan dumps and hurts both the US and China, If China dumps, the US surely can't afford to fight against China (and probably also Russia to a smaller extent). Don't forget North Korea, China's vicious dog on a leash. Happy New Year! BTW, what is China's New Year animal this year...???
Just looked this up....
2014 is the HORSE for China which signifies:
Throughout China's long and storied past, no animal has affected its history as greatly as the horse. Ever since its domestication in northeastern China around 5,000 years ago, the horse has been an integral figure in the creation and survival of the Middle Kingdom. Its significance has been such that as early as the Shang Dynasty (ca. 1600-1100 BC), horses and the vehicles they powered were entombed with their owners so as to be with them in the next life. During the Western Zhou Dynasty (ca. 1100-771 BC), military might was measured by the number of war chariots available to a particular kingdom. As the empire grew, horses became essential for maintaining contact with and control of the empire and for transporting goods and supplies throughout the vast and diverse country.
...when horses were improved both by advances in domestic breeding practices and through the importation of Arab-type and Turkish horses....
China's very survival relied on its equestrian prowess. From the 4th century BC forward, the empire's greatest threat came from its nomadic neighbors to the north and west. By the rise of the Han Dynasty, the Chinese had reluctantly been forced to abandon the war chariot in favor of mounted cavalry in order to face this threat. From the Xiongnu to the Mongols and Manchus, these northern tribes fielded some of the finest cavalry the world would ever see, while providing a constant thorn in the side of the Chinese.
The Chinese quest to maintain adequate equestrian forces to combat the nomadic raiders became a common thread throughout the imperial period. Massive military campaigns were waged in search of superior "blood-sweating horses" from the Ferghana (Dayuan) far to the west. These sojourns, while tremendously expensive in terms of resources and manpower, not only helped to improve the quality of Chinese horses, but also led to the establishment of major contacts between East and West and the opening of the famous Silk Road.
Ummm...silk road...bitcoin...ANYONE? ANYONE?

I can not believe the Pornstar hasn't jumped in about bite-me-coins saving China from total destruction, yet (although, someone did throw in a little ditty in the mix)
Israel and Saudi start the Iran war, and let the US take ownership of it, Japan gets into it and lets the US take ownership of it. Farther of a sailor in Hawaii said son told him their ships are loading up for something, they are heading to Dubai in a few months. Seems it was not a ordinary preparation.
Good luck to that sailor. We start a shooting match and pick up where we left off with Syria in September he better be writing his will.
The last time the Japanese experienced war, their country was totally rebuilt by the victors. Perhaps they have the mistaken idea that the Celestials will rebuild their country and fix Fukushima?
Bullish RTN, HRS.
do asians know what share means?
Americans know Coka Cola, Pepsi, Lays chips, Tom Cruise and Obama. Don't bother asking them which continent they are on.
It's coca-cola, brit.
If by definition you mean "share" as in the largest body of water that more than 1/2 of the rest the World fishes from which just happens to be the location of the worst nuclear commercial disaster in history thanks to the American and Japanese government(s) who made it possible, through the unilateral decision of doing nothing and keeping it censored for almost 3 years from the international community, making the situation for the planet far worse by each "second"? Yes. They are sharing the problem whether they decide to resolve it collectively or not.
Why 3-11-2011 was not declared an "act of war" by the super powers that live in Japan's jurisdiction by now is a question we should all be asking ourselves? Maybe this is in fact the reason why China is ready to "take off the gloves" and ponder war given the long term impact it will have to sustaining life given the irresponsibility of the American Corporations and TEPCO for building such a large collection of nuclear reactors 37 years ago on one of the most vital bodies of water on the planet!
My grandfather gave the best of advice when he use to tell me -"Never shit where you eat"
Should tell you something about Americans if you are one!
Yes, they do. But you have to be a member of their tribe or they will put plastic in your baby formula.
No, it won't happen. 100% certainty that China will not be engaged in a war with Japan in any of your lifetimes.
Only tards will find this type of propaganda intersting.
This is bullish for goldtards, buy more gold, you can make bowls, spoons and earnings with them.

I guess it is a good thing, then, that Chinese forces are so regular.
They eat alot of fiber

Oh the goodness making of General Tso's kitten! Upping the flavor means to the high limit of something and then extremely more of it. Tasting of her is heaven-sent "clouds and rain" on the tongue like no other one. Can be purchased by Sons of Heaven at any people's republic roadside stand (followed of course by the ubiquitous roadside squat and cat in the shat).
Alas, alas, three extra helpings alas, US 'american' citizenism citizens are self-deprived of suchlike delights. In hypocritical consumptionizing of cows and pigs.
Look, Hu is calling the kitten blackened.
Alas, alas, alas, alas... This angle is the result of an consumption based approached.
The conclusion is priceless.
All is in too much from that.
Looks like the US is getting ready to arm Japan for a proxy war with China now. Makes sense the whole privacy law thing in Japan. If they are going full retard why stop at clamping down on information out of Fukushima.
Nawwwww... too much to gain from continued state of "hostility" for anything to go hot.
Who knows, maybe some "accidental" provocation that escalates briefly, but then "cooler heads" will prevail and LeBron James or whomever that basketball player was who went to DPRK will step in to great fanfare to extend an invitation to step back however briefly from catastrophe.
Japan Self Destruct Force
I hope the soldiers of both countries are smart enough to just turn on their superiors and kill them dead. This has nothing to do with defending any ones rights and all to do with suiting TPTB and to shape the world in a way that best suits them.
I have talked to many young Chinese and they are absolutely clueless on their history of the last 100 years. Their heads have been filled with hatred of the Japanese even tho Japan has been peaceful for the last 70 years. They do not believe that their own people, specifically Mao, killed 65-85 million Chinese citizens which is 6-10 times MORE than the Japanese killed in the 30's and 40's. The young Chinese are filled with hubris. This is not going to turn out well.
I've lost count of all the martial arts movies coming out of Hong Kong with the following plot line...
- Japanese / Westerners in China lord it over the Chinese people
- Some Japanese/Westerner antagonist calls out the master of some kung fu superhero by declaring China to be "Sick Man of Asia"
- The master is defeated, but only through treachery by the Japanese/Western antagonist(s)
- Chinese superhero finds out the truth, whups the antagonist on their own turf, then goes on to found some superhero producing kung fu school, therefore demonstrating Chinese superiority
- roll end credits
Here in the past 5-10 years these movies have been rolling out of China like cheap toys... those boys have a serious inferiority complex
Well I'm not an expert on Japanese military power, but I've read they have one of the newest militaries with some of the highest standards in the world. That they have been self limiting themselves because of history, but they could rock any opponent pretty firecly.
Not to mention they could put a nuke together in a couple days, so it is said.
Of course the US would be instantly pulled into the fun as well.
I hear they have a nuke at the ready on their East Coast. Problem is that it will destroy the entire Northern Hemisphere.
Anyone who has studied the Japanese road to World War II will understand just how truely hot headed the Japanese can be. They spent most of the 1930's and early 40's engaged in a war of genocide and conquest in Korea, Manchuria and China. Japanese Army command acted independently of central government in many cases, including starting the Sino-Japanese war on their own. Japan held much of coastal China with major drives along the major rivers into the interior. No need to go into Japan's behavior, genocide fits as the perfect noun for Japan's war.
Modern Japan has had to put it's militarism in a box out of sight. I suspect that it still exists, just looking for the right situation. A war with China is not the situation! In the 1930's China was split into war lord governments fighting eachother, communists fighting everyone and a western back central government trying to take control to establish a Chiense state. In short, as very easy target. China is in no way an easy mark, Japan is rich but very troubled, it has not the ability to fight for very long, though it has a military that could put on a very good showing at the beginning. CHina could ignore loses on a grand scale. They need worry little about paying a huge price for victories, just as long as in the end they gained victories.
I think that this is not a real war situation. It is juts governments taking the piss at each other. They know that war is not viable for either of them. The USA on the other hand, their record of war lust might just have them pushing Japan to go full on into confrontation with the promise of a full US military offensive if Japan is willing to start the fighting.
War with China is looking really fucking good in Washington right now. The USA backed away from fighting RUssia when Putin called the war monger Obama's bluff in Syria. But China offers Americans a good yellow devil they can fight. All Americans will unify behind Goldman Sachs and JPM, the Corporate Round Table and Pentagon Contractors. I believe it would take very little to get all Americans to demand war on China. We are after all a proven fascist state at this point, with by far the worlds largest ultra modern fighting force. We are in collapse, we have maybe one more decade of unrivaled military power. Washington will be choomping at the bit to attack now, not in five years time.
Excellent assessment as always JB. The Japs were absolutely brutal to the Chinese. Strange that the sight of American bombers back then prefaced Japanese suicides in the square of many Northeastern China towns. The blood is very bad and will never be forgotten. My question is what of the Russians in all of this? Do you see them backing Beijing? They may be interested in some islands just north of Japan.
Good question. I admit, as to how Russian and Chinese military relations are, I am clueless. The Russians often announce bigger and bigger joint exercises. Japan wants the Kuril Islands back, the Czars and Japan fought a war in 1905, in 1938, in 1945. Each time the Kuril Islands came into play. Given NATO's move to the East, I think Russia is being pushed towards a tighter military alliance with China. But how deeply that runs I have no idea at all.
There is SCO (Shanghai Coöperation Organization) which is a Eurasian political, economic and military organisation.
Good analysis of the past, but presently Americans are tired of endless distant wars. Besides, The American economy is addicted to china labor, and they are our biggest debtor.
I agree that any war involving the USA/Japan with CHina would have the most interesting financial consequences. One of which would be to allow the USA to default on nearly 2 trillion if debts to CHina. Very tempting. American would lose all those cheap imports though. Fucking WalMart shelves would stand empty, the lower classes would have nowhere to shop. That would be amazing to see WalMart and Amazon with little to sell or ship. Think of Apple, nearly all their shit comes right out of the Chinese slave factories. 10 underpaid young women to a room with two by four bunk beds and a pot to piss in, a hot plate to cook on and a fan for a/c. The men are no better off.
"Modern Japan has had to put it's militarism in a box out of sight. I suspect that it still exists, just looking for the right situation."
You are obviously a fan of history, but you are confusing history with today.
Why do you depersonalize all of Japan in one swift little sentence?
You get caught up in your zealousness, and
"All Americans will unify behind Goldman Sachs and JPM, the Corporate Round Table and Pentagon Contractors. I believe it would take very little to get all Americans to demand war on China."
comes out.
9/11 was the opportunity for Japan to begin the break from its McCarthy designed Constitution of pacification.
I cannot speak for the source below, but it is more or less how I remember it as right after 9/11 Japan offered assistance to the Coalition of the willing / USA.
Read section: "The alliance since 9/11"

Ever since then Japanese-TPTB have been slowly pushing forward with deployments, pushing the boundaries of its US imposed pacifist Constitution. They have even been proposing changes to the Constitution in this regard. There is no doubt, there will be a change.
Especially with the "pivot" to Asia, my guess is this strategy for the region requires more independent and self sufficient participatory allied militaries to share the burdens and ensure any offensive/defensive actions by an enemy will be diffused and enveloped. These last few months of so called "Chinese" provocations has influenced more attention towards local militaries and hardened positions against China. (I don't know who is right or wrong, but the results of the situation appear to be staring us in the face.)
Japan is kinda cocky.
Not too sure I'd want to get in a bar-fight with a weasel like Obama saying he had your back...
That's just nuckin futz.
I have heard from reliable female sources that the Japanese, like the Chinese, are in fact only slightly cocky.
That is the mattering point in a long le kind of way.
0.65 billion Chinese Citizenism long les are indeed the crustiest bits.
Ah yes, they have such a fanatical obsession with their pusillanimous, puny penis pick- me-ups. A pathetically pointless ploy IMHO. What every woman tries not to say: " Is it in yet?"
