The teachers will not hear you , but you are absolutely right.
That tax statistic is a bit misleading. There are other taxes, and fees. Need to compare the whole tax structure to get a clear picture.
Texas is doing well because Texans get shit done.
Remember, the Battle of San Jacinto lasted 20 minutes.
Wowzer. Spot the locals.
Huestown could have its own ZH fighty club local chapter (check yr gnz at the door).
West side here. Real close to A S C in George .... Bush .... Park. That every day's popping in the background? You get used to it; and maybe evince a bit of anxiety if you notice when its not there ...
Here's a likely cultural contrast between Houston and Chicago.
This comming New Years at midnight, after the obligatory lip syncing, step outside and giva listen. Does it sound like a hot fire fight war zone, 360 degrees any direction? You're probably in Houston. All manner of "report" intensity and frequency, for hours. Yet next morning, apparenly zero reportage of celebratory fireworks injury. (the media lies!! .... right?)
We'll see what happens this year with ammo more dear (conspiracy hypothesis: no .22 ammo .... like for ever?)
Definitely a warm fuzzy listening to the NG.
LOL
There is a massive build of corporate headquarters going on over on the West side of Houston with a recent, or soon to be completed additional 4 million square feet of office space, not to mention the new Exxon campus near Spring.
It seems though, the oil "boom/bust" cycles out about every 20 years so ride that horse while you can. Texas was a great place before the yankees started pouring in during the mid-'80s, bunch of rude fucks. And Houston has character still, but the browns, illegals and libtards are screwing it up again - just look at Congresscritter Shelia Jackson Lee and her battalion of free shit soldiers.
Texas was founded by folks who worked hard, fought off natives and Mexicans and generally had a John Wayne mentality: "might help you if I can and not looking for trouble, but if you come against me or mine, you're gonna die." And, a lot of those types of folks are still around. (6th gen.)
