It Would Take 4.4 Earths To Sustain A World Full Of Americans

Tyler Durden's picture

It takes the planet 1.5 years to restore what humanity burns through in a year. The silver lining, the US is #1 in something once again - consumption. In fact, it would take 4.4 Earths to sustain the planet if everyone lived like Americans. Rather disappointingly, the USA is 56th in the world for alcohol consumption per capita (though we suspect that will rise).

Tyler Doody posits: it takes 1.5 years for the earth to replace what humanity burns through in a year.

Now, for anyone with a brain . Nothing gets replaced, what is burned is gone, only to come back as a pollutant. With 7 billion people it doesn't just replenish on its own, get it yet?

I live on the Canadian border just south of Thunder Bay. It's been cold. -21F last night. -8F this evening and sinking. Had a slush storm before the cold hit, thus everything is frozen solid, it was near impossible to open the gas cover on my RAV4, had to get hot water from the house, throw it on, and open, then dry as best I could, ship ice, then slip it back on. Need a tank full to drive to my daughters this weekend. Everybody same problem. The electronic gas pumps failed at some stations when it reached -30F. The liquid crystal displays or what ever they are made of now simply can't cope. They go out and blow hot air on them from time to time. It sucks,

It's funny (or not) to see all the cracked dashboards in almost all the pickups of any age in interior Alaska.  At -40 and -50, the plastic of which they are made is SO brittle that they rattle as if made of glass, and the slightest bumping of them, or even running over a pothole in the road, will cause them to instantly crack.

I am guessing you are familiar with the phenomenon.

Bull shit.   Canada has no enemies.  Nobody is going to attack from the north west or east.   All our military bases are near the US border with the excepption of Cold Lake. We are americas first line of defense against attack by the evil russkies over our land and air space.

If we have a weak military it is by design.  The socialist troodough gutted the military to pay for other socialist fantasies.  Later his sucessors tried to bringin gun control.

All of your population is along the US border, along with all of the transportation and other infrastructure required to support that military.

"We are americas first line of defense against attack by the evil russkies over our land and air space."

Ah...surely that must explain the base locations, rather than the availability of housing, transportation, and food. And together with the Mexican light infantry patrolling the Rio Grande while cleverly disguised as day laborers, America can sleep at ease tonight.

So, as a proud American, I demand that we get some rag-assed brown people to get off their lazy butts and go out there, in space, and bring us back some really good shit. NOW. Or we'll drone you losers back into the Stone Age.

It is real simple.  Drastically cut the US GDP and we will consume less resources.  The US consumes 25% of the world's energy because we produce 25% of the world's GDP.  That is very easy to change if folks want to do so.

You never see environmentalists in the US lead on this front by reducing their living to average world standards (presuming they want the US to be an average user of resources).  The bottom 10% in the US live at the top 30% of the world.  So I am waiting for the true environmentalists to fully live out their creed by dramatically reducing their consumption / living standards.

I was thinking the same thing regarding the relationship between GDP and energy consumption.

In fact, in quite a few of the years, the US has apparently had a larger portion of the world GDP than energy consumption.  In those years the rest of the world was actually using more energy than the US, per GDP, but I'm sure the US was still receiving the blame those years.

Besides, if it weren't for western Europe and the US, would anyone have ever even heard of environmentalism?  From what I understand the USSR was one of the worst at protecting the environment [which, believe it or not, I am a big supporter of doing -- I just think that limiting overfishing and over-polluting of the oceans and limiting over-development and over-polluting of the land is probably more important than limiting CO2 and other GHG emissions -- until they can actually come up with a computer model which can actually predict weather things like the temperature, in advance -- so far, not so much -- also, I much favor the free-market model of private donations to groups like the the Nature Conservancy over the state-control model of compelled compliance like Agenda 21 appears to represent -- isn't that far more about power-collection (and thus also more corruption) than environmentalism?].

Of course not, and it will rarely (never?) occur naturally.

BUT, curtailing that growth should be left to the individual deciding what to do while facing the true prices and options of the marketplace.  Problem is, the political class siezes the right to decide what growth s/b, and the "correct" type of growth now gets decided by the highest bidder for the politicians, not the individual.

Every year we continue to do our part, our patriotic duty if you will:

Buying tons of shit we don't need

With money we don't have

To impress people we don't really like

Ahhhhh, it is so gratifying to fill the Luciferians coffers

I rarely drink.. So that means somebody out there is boozing up almost six 750ml of 80-proof each month?

Who cares if we use the most energy?  Doesn't anyone understand basic economics anymore?

When a light bulb goes off in America (you know, to save the planet), another one pops on in China.  THIS directly leads to lost jobs in America.

LIfe is a competition, people.  You either win or you lose.  Americans used to understand that.

Several years back I recall it being popular among college types to observe "the U.S. is 5% of the worlds population but uses 30% of it's resources".  This was presumably evidense of our comsumptive unfairness.

I always agreed with them, suggesting that the only way to be 'fair' was to immediatly cut our consumption by 5/6.  They usually walked away angry.  No one liked the idea of only having electricity 5 days a month.

You don't get it, they want YOU to cut back YOUR consumption. They obviously should not have to because they understand and are busy saving the world.

I remember seeing charts similar to this back in the 70's, all doom and gloom and we all gunna die soon. Sadly, the young hippies who promoted this garbage now older and in positions of power and are still promoting this garbage. Hippies never learn, they only get more shrill with age.

It would take 8.8 earths if all Americans in this hypothetical scenario designed to make America look bad lived the hypocritical life of largess of Jane Fonda, Al Gore and the Clintons and had the vacation financial "carbon foot print" of the Obama Family......

If we looked at the Saudis and thelifestyle of EU offricials, the American foot print on this planet becomes irrelevant.

Interesting enough on the booze consumption the US doesn't lead on that as well considering the fact we lead everything else. But its because we don't booze it up like other nations that we can be productive enough to have all these other things.  Nevertheless, the booze consumption list is off anyway. If we're talking about hard liquor which the scale seems to indicate, South Korea has ranked at the top the last few years by most every other recognized measuring stick.

Bullshit!

Bad asssumption #1: The pinnacle of mass distributed energy technology runs on hydrocarbons. There are other much better and more efficient technologies (and no I am not talking solar or wind), however those who control they system are able to enslave us better by limiting our access to energy through a monopolization of hydrocarbons.

Bad assumption #2: Without the efforts of proteges of Edward Bernays American would still want to buy things that they cannot afford and do not need. We are only forced to be ignorant consumers because of the false growth paradigm foisted upon us for the purpose of ensuring enough dollars are circulated outside the US to create a dependency that justifies it as the world's reserve currency. No dependency, no reserve currency.

Just more bullshit propaganda designed to assist in controlling people.

if it wasn't for the fucking Marxist governments of the world (our American government being the worst of all) and their eco-nazi scumbag idiots, like EPA, and the fucking carbon tax fags like Al Gore-pig, American farmers could produce enough food to feed the entire world easily.  The governments do nothing but shut farmers down (while backing the scum sucking vampire Monsanto), not to mention steal all our land, steal water rights, regulate and tax the fuck out of production, sales, and transport, poison the environment so shit won't grow or has very little nutritional value...it goes on and on and on.

This planet can easily sustain everyone on it...we're barely scraping by and billions are starving due to genocidal, sociopaths in government...what little is grown and produced ends up getting destroyed and wasted once again by corrupt government scum and the sociopaths who infest said governments.

Meanwhile, those fucking sociopaths eat, drink, and live like kings while starving the majority of the people out.  Guillotines would be too good for those mother fuckers.

Not to worry.  If the NWO has its way, the population will be down to 0.5 billion.  As George Carlin put it, "It's a big club, and you're not in it."  All but the flouncy elites will still be on the brink of starvation, even with the population down under 10% of today.  As Henry the K, another Nobel Peace Prize laureate put it, the useless eaters should be eliminated.  Dat's you, grandma.  But there will still be 80 inch LED TV's.  Let the Hunger Games begin suckers.

BTW, the numbers in this article are bigger bullshit than the BLS.
