What The Chinese Really Think Of The Shanghai Smog
Despite the government's "adjustments" of the 'safe' pollution level, and reassurances that smog is good for you, the following awful clip of what real Shanghai residents think may change some perspectives... "I don't think it's fit for humans to live in this kind of environment... but I have no choice, I have to go to work."
Remember - this is not fog - it's pollution-dense smog...

It's like London fog in Dickens. Perhaps there's a menswear brand ID in this for the Chinese....
well, this is one way to get rid of pigeons I guess.
coming to a city near yu http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/12/07/massive-china-themed-city-pro...
Aren't you glad we are brought together in solidarity? The benefits of smog are many!
*knocks back a can of fresh air*
Oooh, that's the good stuff.
never talk to the slaves.
We do have plenty of fresh air and blue sky, here, in America. No way for all those Chinese to get at it, though, right? Right?

It's like one big opium den, except instead of opium, it's a cloud of carcinogenic, asthma inducing, respiratory hell.
But BUT FOR this, what would Wal-Mart do?
That's just the price of progress, I guess.

I have to go to China next month. Stocked up on carbon filter masks. The things I do for $$$...jeez
From now on let's just be colloquial about it and call it Chog.
To wit, "This Chog feels like it's burning another hole in my ass it even hurts to ride my bicycle!"
Chog crouds brobbing up bigtime!
Once again, another disaster of Chinese citizenism.
Walmart would sell shit from some SE asian country... or eastern european country... doesn't matter... if american goods offer a sufficient margin, then walmart will sell them...
Best quote of the trailer?
"Did you think this country's multi trillon dollar debt was just gonna going away?"
They name the wrong likely enemy. T'won't be the Chinese. It will the be the bankers who forclose and enslave us all.
China - the future lung and throat cancer capital of the world.....
Plastic knives for 1.3 billion Alex.
Pigeons are more resillien than you give credit for. If they can survive the London 'fog', they'll survive this with flying color.
Pigeons and cockroaches will survive. Them and that fungus that grows inside the containment building in Chernobyl.
Them and that fungus that grows inside the containment building in Chernobyl.
Sounds like the members of Congress.

Hey....tell that Chinese guy things in America aren't fit for a human being either with all the Smog coming out of the Fed......but....just like him.....we have to go to work.
It's Corp/Fed all over the world.
Rich American cunt CEO's thank you for your suffering. Well, probably not........good luck with our pollution.
A nice Mao jacket...would be cool
A Japanese nuke should clear that away pretty swiftly
Why nuke'em when they're already killing themselves?
#fuckchina
The war with China has already been won...
Our trade deficit with China gave them:
A growing middle class to challenge the Politburo.
A constantly devaluing paper currency in exchange for low cost goods.
Pollution of their environmentg that will take them years and $ to repair.
Sure it sucks that we destroyed our manufacturing jobs, but some may yet comeback as China has to deal with it's own currencies appreciation. Splitting the Sino/Soviet alliance and avoiding Nuclear War might be worth it in hindsight.
If you like your smog, you can keep your smog.
<If you don't like it you're keeping it anyway.>
Learn to love the smog, feel the smog, BE the smog!
Is your stomach too full?
Is Bart Chilton the head of China's version of the EPA? He probably just came out with a finding that there is no smog in China. None.
It's just haze..., and a beautiful sunset coming.
Don't forget to buy a lot of shit this holiday season.
Work work work so you can shop shop shop, do it tell we all fucking drop.
Plastic worthless shit accumulation is the pinnacle of human achievement.
Family will soon be sent a bill for a single bullet.

God that's awful.
"Smells like victory", oops wrong movie...
If you want your smog, you can keep your smog... oh wait... wrong thread.
"I don't think it's fit for humans to live in this kind of environment... but I have no choice, I have to go to work."
Breath toxins and slowly die or don't work and slowly die after being pariahed by society. It's good to have choices. . .
Habit
Habit is thus the enormous fly-wheel of society, its most precious conservative agent. It alone is what keeps us all within the bounds of ordinance, and saves the children of fortune from the envious uprisings of the poor. It alone prevents the hardest and most repulsive walks of life from being deserted by those brought up to tread therein. It keeps the fisherman and the deck-hand at sea through the winter; it holds the miner in his darkness, and nails the countryman to his log-cabin and his lonely farm through all the months of snow; it protects us from invasion by the natives of the desert and the frozen zone. It dooms us all to fight out the battle of life upon the lines of our nurture or our early choice, and to make the best of a pursuit that disagrees, because there is no other for which we are fitted, and it is too late to begin again. It keeps different social strata from mixing. Already at the age of twenty-five you see the professional mannerism settling down on the young commercial traveller, on the young doctor, on the young minister, on the young counsellor-at-law. You see the little lines of cleavage running through the character, the tricks of thought, the prejudices, the ways of the 'shop,' in a word, from which the man can by-and-by no more escape than his coat-sleeve can suddenly fall into a new set of folds. On the whole, it is best he should not escape. It is well for the world that in most of us, by the age of thirty, the character has set like plaster, and will never soften again.

Good post. What are the chance that you would end up being muslim if you were born in Pakistan? Religion is also something shoved down your throught at a early stage of life.
excellent post.
Wanna get away ? .... buy more homes in the LA smog basin.
... and just in time for the Big quake!
not fit for humans? actually humans deserve it a lot more than the wildlife does
What wildlife? Rats?
China should use the US seasonally adjustment method for their numbers so they can say the smog is not dangerous.
So thick you could it it with a fork! But use a spoon so you won't miss one delicious mouthful!
Outlaw breathing...simplz
dissidents get sent to gas chamber for their insolence. air quality actulally improves.
There are 30 coal plants in Shanghai region. http;//www.powerplantmaps.com/shanghai.html
Do they have clean coal like us?
No, their coal sucks, so they're buying all the stuff out of Wyoming.
I'm from Pittsburgh. The air is crystal clear here.
How you like me now, chi com M'Fer.
A little chilly in Pittsburgh this time of year though
The pictures of Pittsburgh in the 40s and 50s aren't much different. The fact that street lights were on at noon some days says a lot. I love Pittsburgh now, it's a great city. Almost as big as Toledo.
This is an easy, and somewhat inexpensive, fix. Even bad coal ash can be scrubbed from from the stacks. The Chinese are just stupid and cheap. Incidentally, they are in line to have more diabetics in thier country than the rest of the world combined. Who has to go to war with them? They're wiping themselves out becoming "westernized".
Kewl! #winning

That is correct.
Population of Pittsburgh:
1930 - 670,000
2010 - 305,000
You mearly have to half the population, shutter all the high volume industrial sites, and switch from an industrial economy to one centered on universities, hospitals, and welfare recipient farming. Air problem solved....

Re: Incidentally, they are in line to have more diabetics in thier country than the rest of the world combined.
Pollution may increase kids’ risk for diabetesIn this new study, published in the journal Diabetologica, researchers examined blood samples taken from 387 10-year-old children. Researchers discovered the children living in areas with greater exposure to air pollution had significantly higher insulin levels than children living in lower-pollution areas.
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/05/10/pollution-may-increase-kids-risk-for-diabetes/
However one can easily eliminate diabetes risk quite easily:
http://diabetesrisk.net/
Correlation is not causation. Places with higher air pollution levels tend to be more urban areas. Take a look around our inner cities, the poor are fat and eat swill. With parents like that, of course their kids have higher blood insulin levels. Even among the non-poor, you have two income families that don't cook, and kids who don't go outside to play. You have latch key kids who feed themselves cereal for lunch or even dinner.
Statistics don't always mean what people say they mean.
Wiflred Brimley IPO announcement at any moment....
The folks at Liberty Medical are GOOD people. And they're gonna flog that cash cow to death, DIABEETUS or bust!
Pittsburgh is one of the few liveable cities in the USA now. Wonder why?
Just another way the Elites are trying to kill off as many 'parasites' as possible.
Stop sending us your worthless, crappy, toxic products and your smog will clear right up.
of course, we could stop buying them....
Sure we can stop, when dogs stop sniffing each others asses,... oh, wait.
I say the same thing everyday when I leave for work and the chemtrail grid is hanging over my head. Today was no different, chemtrails right over my office.
But all the people passing by behind the fellow being interviewed were without face masks...
Smog + China = Millions of Cancer cases
Millions of Cancer cases + Billions of dollars in "cure for cancer" fundraising = there will never be a cure, but there will be lots of free t-shirts
Blood money for Big-Pharma - better for business - cleaner than war - everything stays in the realm of elite, complex science.
Sorry but I already own the copyright in China for "Race For Them Kure". There will be fuscia colored face masks, shirts, cars and lapel pins. A portion of every renminbi donated will go towards finding the kure. And since I am CEO of the non-profit organization, I am having a modest 9000 sq. foot chateau built away from the smog in Xian on a small 270 imperial acres lot.
Now the Chinese government can remove the one-child policy safely.
I'm firewalled out of the vid; but he I hope the poor guy is wearing a mask. Nay, he must wear a face mask, because if not he will be located and incarcerated if he is saying anything that doesn't work for the Party line.
Does Shanghai have air bars? Seems like an opportunity. 5 yuan for 15 minutes of clean, oxygenated air.
Are there any proposals from anyone about cleaning up this pollution? Or preventing it from happening in our own backyards?
..."proposals"...you mean REGULATIONS! And like I learned from the ZH Brownshirts...'regulations' = BAD...ALWAYS!
Also, why you not like progress bro? Smog = GROWTH! MOAR! SMOG!
What does not kill you will make you stronger.
Begs the question, just where the hell does this stuff all end up? Does is disipate and make it's way to the West Coast to some degree?
I would sure hate for that to happen, being they don't have any radiation yet.......(why do my Cali veggies have a glow to them?)
A large chunk is absorbed by the oceans and the biosphere.

What doesn't make it into your lungs tumbles into the radioactive ocean.
Thanks, Asia.
Dr. Strange-Smog or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Breathing in Acrid Carcinogenic Air
All of that Chog-infused Chicken coming over to the US should have a nice tangy aftertaste.
are they allowed to say these things? China must have changed a lot since Mouth Say Tongue died.
Well, at least they have a JOB to go to.

Those lucky bastard, free from the tyrannyof government like the EPA and radical socialist green tree hugging commies.
Hey they got it right. Git rid of those stupid environmental regulations. It was so much more fun to watch lake Erie on fire. Let the free market work. Works fine for these businesses.
fortunately pollution is a local only impact event.
