The State Department needs to buy "fans?" No surprise there.
Champagne and lobster tails for the Wookie: $5,678,432.20
The only thing I find out of the ordinary was that the author of the cognitive study of right-wingers was too stupid to skew the data to support the thesis.
So where's the guy from a couple years ago that posted that the government should pay for the study of the sex lives of spiders?
"the government should pay for the study of the sex lives of spiders?"
The already have a TV series for that "Desperate House Spiders"
Bitcoin is down, so free payouts of bitcoins are up at http://freebitco.in/?r=25727
Key-rist! Why am I feeding this troll? bunz, my brother, it looks like everybody hates you, but by and large, this ain't a hatin' crowd. However, if you insist on bein' a one trick pony long after the gag has gotten stale... Well, you know the outcome.
from Tom Coburn?
Doesn't he WORK for the government?
Top lobbyst for health professionals...they want to make sure government pays doctors more, artificially restrict entry, and keep hospital and medical equipment profits untaxed.
What about the flea dip and trim for the Wookie ?
The only thing I see coming from the government (also signed by the Bernanke et al) is a big bag of #@(& YOU!
The shit has to hit something doesn't it? Why not facebook fans?
It's only because Al-Queda doesn't use Facebook or Twitter that State has so few friends.
Not to ignore the absurdity of these items, but the price tags equate to probably a few minutes worth of the $85B each month (now $75B a month) being borrowed from future taxpayers to keep Jamie and Lloyd living the life to which they have become accustomed.
It's pretty much the kind of thinking that got us in this mess. Wasting money is inexcusable, especially if it is someone else's money.
The problem is that articles like this focus people away from the bigger problem. I guarantee this kind of stuff will end up being debated for countless hours by talking heads in Washington and on television while the big issues are ignored. I guess you are their audience.
Hundreds of billions/trillions wasted in wars are ignored, and so are future trillions wasted on Obamacare. Talking heads will discuss $xhundred K wasted on youtube video, while their masters will be looting trillions. Bread and circus, and inability of masses to separate important from not important.
When do the "CONservatives" bring up the fact that healthcare is not possibly a right unless I can shoot my doctor for not treating me.. LTER your an ass with an inexhaustible supply of personalities and rhetoric wonder why?? Jackboots at door in 3,2,...
The reason the FED is tapering is because the cocksuckers in DC cannot spend money fast enough.
I guess it is articles like this that are helping.
I agree that this is a drop in the ocean, but it does illustrate the mindset of of them.
They do not give a rat's ass about us.
Only two things to do. First, STOP USING DEBT DAMMIT. The less we create (and yes, you do create it when you get a loan), the more they have to. So make them create more and more, then when THEY are overleveraged, we can watch them implode.
The second thing is if the first does not happen in a timely manner, but it didnt work out well the first time it was tried.
Webpage with large file of NRC documents about Fukushima in days and weeks after quake and Tsunami,
Evidence of lack of real information and confusion and theoretical scenarios and Government coverup of the scale of the airborne radiation plume problem.
One document noted that bid cost for US Gov DOD for buying large truck mounted water pumps to help cool Fukushima fuel rods, corium, etcetera, went from $750,000 to $9.6 Billion.
DOD was concerned about Fukushima dangerous radiation releases affect upon US military activity in Pacific.
You were making a valid argument until the last sentence. For that alone, fuck you, jackass.
I punched myself in the face for you.
Thanks. It was well-deserved.
I do not disagree with you about looking at the bigger picture. However, this "nickel and dime" spending has gotten out of hand, mostly because no one cares about it. The government should be better stewards of taxpayer money but why would they if no one demands it?
"The government should be better stewards of taxpayer money."
Absolutely. My only point here is that we should start at the top and work our way down to the green ninja. I once seriously considered spending a day traveling to Orlando from Tampa to fight a BS red light ticket, so I get the irritation with the small stuff too.
Yes leave fighting the indoctrination of the children till last..
"Give me the child for seven years, and I will give you the man."
There is that, too, right? As bad as the spending is, it is likely to be effective in molding those mushy minds to a bullshit agenda.
"The government should be better stewards of taxpayer money..."
The thievin' shitbags need to stop stealing the wealth of the productive in the first place.
In a couple of years you will see a small donation to the Human Fund.
Again, it not the amount of money (we know they will print what they need regardless) but the damage done with what they spend. Its why we have never been overtly willing to accept a benevolent dictator, for we know how easily they can become manevolent. What would be your guess of how much they spend or on how many "projects" to advance conservative causes? The agencies that create these programs are largely unaccountable and completely dominated by liberal lifers. The agenda marches on, and the irony is that they are forcing conservatives to pay for the means to their own demise.
Gave? Shit I could live for a year on the interest they stole from me over the last 5 years..
Thanks dickheads....rot in hell
I can't stand this kind of thinking. The "Green Ninja" requries over 10 years of unpaid labor from American taxpayers.
Unless you're willing to work it off, don't hand-wave that away.
The Green Ninja also requires about 5 minutes of income from Jamie Dimon -- income he derives from trillions of dollars handed to his bank by the government. If I were Jamie, I would make sure that there are lots of articles like this out in the public domain to distract the unicorn sheep.
Why can't both be problems? Are you simple?
Yes, you're the only one on ZH clever enough to know the government is handing out free money to billionaires. Go back to dkos you pompous twat.
It is called separating important from not so important, and paying proportional attention to them based on their importance. If .gov wastes 1M on youtube, and $1T on wars/obamacare, then wars/obamacare should be discussed 1 000 000 more. Guess what will be the discussion time ratio by talking heads?
So if the press didn't have fodder like this, they'd surely be talking about the big picture, right?
Don't be a fool.
One of the major reasons they don't need to talk about the big picture is because so many people lap up fodder like this as a satisfying and more easily digested substitute. They then go to the polls and vote for or against the party who is supporting the green ninja. It's called defining (and narrowing) the debate. If you don't realize that this kind of BS is paraded out exactly for that reason, you're not paying attention.
I stopped watching TV news several years ago when Russert had several guests on his show debating whether Obama was being aggressive enough in Afghanistan. The entire debate centered around whether drone bombing on the one hand, or a more aggressive full blown bombing campaign on the other hand, would be more effective. The guests were hotly divided in this tiny box of debate and no doubt viewers went about their day arguing with family and friends over whether we were dropping enough bombs.
No -- that's not a major reason. You just made it up. The major reason is they own the distribution channels and can talk about whatever they like. If you could stamp this topic out of existence, there is a 0% chance you would find substantial debate in the media tomorrow.
You know this, yet you assert it's the guy who demands accountability for every dollar spent that is being rused. Every dollar stolen makes a difference. And your pleb distraction is my foot in the door.
How about if we just agree to throw all of these fuckers out and agree to agree on that. This red meat green ninja stuff just gets under my skin because it's what you hear at the water cooler.
I'm all for cutting them all off, but it enrages me that people minimize it -- it's years off someones life. Maybe those people at the watercooler would be more open to a broader argument if you didnt' shit on the piece of the puzzle they did understand.
That's where we disagree. The debate for the last 40 years has been the piece of the puzzle you are harping on. It is an intentional distraction and it needs to be called out as such. Debating it has done exactly jack shit. There are 300 million Americans. Each does not work for the green ninja, but they sure as fuck work for the bankers.
@ Rand - I agree and don't understand the down votes.
You are spot on: These lists of run of the mill government theft help keep the muppets' eyes off the real multi-trillion dollar prize. I distinctly do not see SOUND MONEY or END the FED on the Heritage Foundation's (based in Washington, District of Criminals) About Page. Simply trying to limit government without addressing the root of the issue (money) is a game played by fools or knaves.
Exactly right and glad someone else sees that. To me, these sorts of "statistics" are compiled and presented as newsworthy precisely to distract the muppets.
It's to get the blood up and it works. I can wrap my head around a couple hundred thousand or hundred million, but billions is hard to fathom. But theft of public money to pander to a liberal (Green Ninja) or war (National Guard) agenda is still wrong.
I agree also. While I'm not a fan of wasting money on shit like in the article, the trillions thrown into the 'financial industry' is what's going to kill us all, except the 1%, in the end.
Low Info standing there monkeying obsessively with his newest Iphone doesn't know who Jamie Dimon is or wouldn't understand him if you explained it to their self centered minds. They do understand Facebook and YouTube and low monetary values under a Billion.
This bilge isn't for the consumption of the informed.
And stock market at all time highs...
What else can one dream of?
It's all a howl and a hoot for these central planning cocksuckerz. Money doesn't grow on trees but it sure as hell spews from helicopter Ben's presses which we all know will be cranked up when Orwellian Yellen takes over. It's all a sick joke, being played on us. Over 90 million people in the US out of work, poverty abounds, inflation raging in the things we need, the prez takes (another) multi million dollar vacation. Absolutely sick state of affairs.
Be optimistic, all kinds of precious metals just got cheaper (gold, silver, copper, lead, brass, etc. etc.)
We are truly governed by the Clown Posse.
There's a new sucker born every minute
More like leaches really...
Which brings me to the thought I've been contemplating about the market reaction to 'the taper': it's not a market anymore, it's a show with an endless happy ending (read: hand job) for stocks.
So where exactly did the other 1.2 trillion go?
Plane crash into audit team meeting room imminent.
Travel and Entertainment.
Hookerz n' Blow
They spent about 12 mil on these 5 programs so it would take roughly 20 years to list the other 500,000 useless programs.
Just renew the EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) for 2014*! It'll do more for VoM than anything else.
It's a small slice of the monthly QE... "It's wafer thin", Mr. Cleptosote.
* As long as the USD is sponsored by foreign countries, willing to buy our glorified confetti and creating plenty of their own.
but i thought that Obama was Superman,
or have i been misled?
only an unassuming Clark Kent.
Clerk C*nt more like
Not Obama, but Superman is indeed black, just like Santa.
And if you're a teacher in New Mexico you get fired (soon) for stating otherwise.
am i the only one catching this story?
a few weeks ago, sen. baucus starts talking about tax reform with a proposal for an immediate 20% tax on corporate profits held offshore.
today, obama wants to send him on an extended assignment to china.
"We are truly governed by the Clown Posse."
And you consent to the ass raping. You vote for thieves and crooks. D & R, all the same. So bend over, put some pretty lipstick on your asshole and enjoy the ride. If you're lucky it won't be a dry fuck.
I am curious to see what university shill took money for a "study" looking to correlate congitive scores with political ideology. Where might I find this steaming bowl of academic diarrhea?
No more please from this crumbling f*cking empire.
Why didn't the government give a Garmin to everyone?
Then Garmin could stop those commercials.
it's only clownbux
Probably there was some money that just HAD to be spent or they would lose that amount in the next year's budget.
You get it.
When I was a young punk, fresh out of high school and less than a year into a four year hitch in the Air Force, our commander spread the word that we would lose 500K out of the budget for the next year if we didn't spead 500K.
That's when I first realized we're all fucked.
Withdraw consent from this nightmare.
I wonder how many dozens, if not hundreds of "goverment christmas parties" are being thrown this week at taxpayer expense...GAO audit anyone?
I thought FaceBook was only for chicks and kiddies.
Wonder what we should get them.
Why all this chitter chatter about what is wrong with gooferment, ObozoCare, the Feral Reserve, Wall Street, wars, privacy and so on?
It's interesting to know these things, but talking about it in circles goes nowhere, right? Yes, knowledge is power, but only if action is entertained.
Problem is solved by not participating. Stop going to work in a unified manner and it will end. Don't worry about the bills, mortgages and so on. Those that will take the lead in such an endeavor will have that covered, amongst many other potential situations that may come up. We outnumber them ... period.
Does anyone out there have the guts to do this? I doubt it....and before someone says "you first", it's already been done...14 years ago, my friends, 14 years ago...because I could see the writing on the wall and am not a millionaire, billionaire or trillionaire. Got that? So do something or quit whining.
Step up to the plate and do it or else you ARE destroying the future for your kids. But if you all are so selfish and not care for your kids' future or this country, then sit back, whine some more, and see how far that gets you.
I apologize if I've offended anyone by the above as it may seem a "tad" rough on the readers here. However, think really hard about what I have said...think really hard.
I am not sure I understand what course of action you are suggesting. Quit everything to stick it to da man? Hunger strike?
I have to stand up beside you because I began the same project on the July 4, 1994.
And, I have to say that these have been the finest twenty years of my life.
Doing nothing by enough, is the one thing the system cannot tolerate and TPTB know this. They understand that as long as they keep the fear level high enough that the adrenaline rushes are drug enough to keep the wheel spinning.
Fear is king here----and one of the few criticisms that I have in regards to ZH---everything is sensationalized with fear----or so it seems much of the time.
From my point of view, us "normal folks" have 3 options:
1) live within the US system. Along with the endless corruption, crime, wars, inflation, and looting.
2) change the system. Political reform? Revolution? Non-participation? Nice ideas, but likely ineffective.
3) Exit the system. Find a safe place to live and LEAVE the US with all of your assets. At this point, the system can no longer "feed" off of you and your labor.
I saw #3 as our best option, and we did leave the system over a year ago. And yes, I do realize and acknowledge that this is not a realistic option for everyone.
It will change your life for the better, even if it seems tough.
Where's the Wookie?
Did we ever learn the results of that government funded study that sought to explain why Chinese made condoms were not being used in Sub-Saharan Africa??? WTF.
More symptomatic examples of systemic failure. Be aware of them but don't get so hung up on them you fail to see the solution to the problem, which is to replace the entire system of government, not the symptoms. At www.electanewcongress.com, we suggest the daily operating model of government called Liberty, which is when the people rule the government. Right now, the government rules the people, this is called tyranny. Find out how to know and attain Liberty at electanewcongress.com. Serfs Up America!
The best solution of all is to replace the entire system of government with...nothing.
