Opposition To Obamacare Soars To Record High

Tyler Durden's picture

Since the President's Obamacare legislation became law, it has never had such widespread opposition according to CNN's latest poll with 62% of those polled "opposed" the law and only 35% were in favor. Results also indicated most Americans predict their medical care costs will increase under the ironically-titled "Affordable Care Act". As UPI reports, "opposition to Obamacare rose 6 [percentage] points among women, from 54% in November to 60% now, while opinion of the new law remained virtually unchanged among men," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "That's bad news for an administration that is reaching out to moms across the country in an effort to make Obamacare a success." Maybe Americans just need another day to decide?

Merry Christmas, Mr President.

nmewn's picture

Now now knukles...we were told by Haaahvahd egg heads that there were THIRTY MEEELIYAWN people uninsured just chomping at the bit to throw their money at insurance companies, so we had to totally fuck up the other NINETY PERCENT so congresscritters & insurance companies could find out if it was really true!

It wasn't.

I would anticipate breaking new records on an ongoing weekly rate from here on out.

Oh hell yeah!

The numbers are what we say they are!

Just wait till insurance companies find out the pool of people they have.  They are all going to run from this thing next year.

Unstable Condition's picture

By 'run' do you mean start bankrupcy procedure?

Nope, Obombercare has a "bailout the insurers" clause hidden in the law.

They negotiated a no lose deal that hits the taxpayers with the bill.

Watch what happens by November when corporations drop healthcare for employees.

There are deep-in-the-weeds protections baked into the Affordable Care Act: risk adjustment, reinsurance, and risk corridors…

Risk corridors will play the biggest role if the individual mandate does get delayed. Their entire purpose is to stabilize premiums during the first three years of Obamacare, when it’s especially difficult for insurers to price plans.

Here’s how it works: exchange plans (QHPs) projected how much their risk pool would cost overall in 2014, their “target” cost. If they’ve significantly miscalculated—or, say, if a mandate delay causes adverse selection that they couldn’t have predicted—HHS will take action…

Risk corridors...be prepared chiiilriiin...lol.

The goal is single payer, police state control and continuing to screw what is left of the middle class.  Our old healthcare system was a dream compared to this.

For the finance crowd: I believe the only publically traded firearm manufacturers left are RGR and SWHC. These will probably be the next big bubble, so pile on in while there's still room before the pop. Besides, I'm not satisfied with unloading my RGR after having only made an 80% return on it this year, so if someone would like to drive it a little higher for me that would be "much appreciated".

"Isn't Fascism GREAT?!"

"It can happen here, because there has been no change and there has been no progress and there has been no increase of understanding on the part of men for their fellow man. What worries me deeply, and I have seen it exemplified in this case, is that we in America are in great danger of slowly evolving into a proto-fascist state. It will be a different kind of fascist state from the one of the Germans evolved; theirs grew out of depression and promised bread and work, while ours, curiously enough, seems to be emerging from prosperity. But in the final analysis, it's based on power and on the inability to put human goals and human conscience above the dictates of the state. Its origins can be traced in the tremendous war machine we've built since 1945, the "military-industrial complex" that Eisenhower vainly warned us about, which now dominates every aspect of our life. The power of the states and Congress has gradually been abandoned to the Executive Department, because of war conditions; and we've seen the creation of an arrogant, swollen bureaucratic complex totally unfettered by the checks and balances of the Constitution. In a very real and terrifying sense, our Government is the CIA and the Pentagon, with Congress reduced to a debating society. Of course, you can't spot this trend to fascism by casually looking around. You can't look for such familiar signs as the swastika, because they won't be there. We won't build Dachaus and Auschwitzes; the clever manipulation of the mass media is creating a concentration camp of the mind that promises to be far more effective in keeping the populace in line. We're not going to wake up one morning and suddenly find ourselves in gray uniforms goose-stepping off to work. But this isn't the test. The test is: What happens to the individual who dissents? In Nazi Germany, he was physically destroyed; here, the process is more subtle, but the end results can be the same. I've learned enough about the machinations of the CIA in the past year to know that this is no longer the dreamworld America I once believed in. The imperatives of the population explosion, which almost inevitably will lessen our belief in the sanctity of the individual human life, combined with the awesome power of the CIA and the defense establishment, seem destined to seal the fate of the America I knew as a child and bring us into a new Orwellian world where the citizen exists for the state and where raw power justifies any and every immoral act. I've always had a kind of knee-jerk trust in my Government's basic integrity, whatever political blunders it may make. But I've come to realize that in Washington, deceiving and manipulating the public are viewed by some as the natural prerogatives of office. Huey Long once said, "Fascism will come to America in the name of anti-fascism." I'm afraid, based on my own experience, that fascism will come to America in the name of national security."

They deserve it, they lie down with dogs, they get up with fleas.

Of course we already know what will happen...bail-in/bail-out on anyone unprepared for the shitstorm, its not sustainable without the "healthy kiddies" who were sold shit for frrreeeee! signing up in droves...which ain't happening.

Personally, I don't think it was ever designed to work, it never could, what they really want plain ole state taxation...errrr, ummm, single payer.

They're just amazed that their social engineering scheme collapsed so quickly and on their watch where they will be held completely accountable...lol.

Its not like we didn't try to tell these limo riding cretins that "kids" (like we were) have no money to extort but have endless energy to expend on those who thieve them.

Good times ahead ;-)

It will be called the "Emergency Care plan".  You sign up for 9.5% of your salary to be deducted for the rest of your life, and the Feds pay for "everything" (everything that the insurers think you need).  This plan will be offered when those who thought they were signed up for Obamacare go to the doctor or hospital and find that the premiums haven't been paid or paper work lost (see HAMP).

SDShack's picture

30 million uninsured has grown to 35 million when you count those that have lost their Private HC against the puny number that have signed up for 0zer0care. That 35 million number will more than double next year when 50 million people lose their Employer sponsored HC. When the 2014 election comes around it will be all about how 0zer0care has caused more people to be uninsured after the ACA went into effect than before. Plus those that have insurance yet, will be paying on average, about double the cost. The shitstorm that is going to hit next election is going to be epic.

akak's picture

Count me as uninsured prior to Obama(Don't)Care, and count me as uninsured after Obama(Don't)Care as well --- because I will not now nor EVER comply with such an egregiously fascist, intrusive, paternalistic, rights and privacy-stripping law.

The agents who go door to door collecting the fines from the scofflaws who well, scoffed, should probably go ahead and sign up for the double-plus good Gold Plan, as well as carry some extra plasma in the first-aid kit.

Well, if your a fairly devout Christian, try a healthcare ministry. Basic rules: non smoker, never drink till drunk (that disqualifies most of us ), attend church on an average of 3 times monthly when you can.

Benefit: $45-$155  per month for $125,000 coverage, up to $1 million with additional charge, fully AMA compliant. One plan pays you directly after submission by you. the other two I found has the members send you checks or you designate your payment to an individual on a monthly newsletter, near as I can tell. It's not insurance, it is joining a benefit pool of sorts.

A Lunatic's picture

If you're a fairly devout christian my recommendation would be to stop giving yourself over to the desires and demands of evil men in positions of false authority over you.......

Freddie's picture

Well if you are a devout Christian pull the plug on TV and Hollywood because they all support this.   Don't support their theme parks and other crap aka anything Disney, Universal and others.

PLira's picture

@ A Lunatic  I'm not here preaching the faith. I honestly don't give two shits who people wanna worship, excepting vile Muslims, who have no religion, but an ideology that is totalitarism based. Kinda like Obummer... Peeps can do what they want, I don't care. It's your life not mine. I'm just trying to give options to those that are positioned to take advantage of this, which I am not. The 3 times a month in church has to do with, I suspect, getting a signoff from a preacher that you deserve to be a part of the group. Kinda like payin union dues I suppose although no one ever brings that up with the vitriol that religion brings forth from the atheists. Personally, if it saves you lots of $ and you're willing, meh... Me, meh, not worth the trouble either way.

@ Freeeie  I pulled the plug long ago as I have better things to do than mind melt/waste time on Hollywood TV. I do get FTA (Free
To Air) Sat TV from around the world by Satellite I built several years back to get real news, not the shit that is presented by the propagandists. I also get FTA local news only for weather. Ahead of ya'all.

I do believe in Christmas as a long held tradition so Merry Fuckin Christmas to everyone. Love it or hate it, you're gonna experience it.

A Lunatic's picture

People need options, no doubt, and yours is a fine one for those inclined to work within the boundaries of a corrupt system that is hellbent on destroying the individuals freedom of choice in everything from what kind of light bulbs we use to which doctor we can see. Ultimately everyone will have a choice to make, and ultimately reap the rewards or consequences of those choices.

PLira's picture

Thank you for a reasonable discord.

Whether one is a devout Christian or a devout Atheist, this is a way to save big bucks and get in on the game. It is all a game called Cloward-Piviens.

If one is not a Christian, claim hard of hearing, get an audio book, wear it in church 3 days a month and save between $400-$800 a month with no deductible of $4000-$12000 under Obummer care.

Just a thought.

Friends and Family arriving so I must sign off. Merry Christmas from one capitalistic asshole to all of the rest of you.

Don't like Merry Christmas? FUCK YOU then as I don't care what you like or dislike. I'm no longer going to be PC you liberal fucktuards. lol

The 35% in favor of Obamacare and 62% against it,reflects the same ratio in two recent elections.

In the 2012 Election results in Colorado,Voters rejected a Proposition that would have raised 1 Billion Dollars to finance Schools across the state.

In 2012 Election,Voters in Arizona rejected keeping a 1 Cent raise in the Sales Tax to finance Schools etc across the state.

The 1-Cent increase in the Sales Tax sunseted in May 2013.

It doesn't matter! The statist thugs of both parties have done nothing but hot air, oh wait, they "deemed" it passed!  The freaking Suprreme Court caved on a clearly unconstitutional law.  Actually, that the people have not staged a coup complete with lamp posts discourages me greatly.
