Everything That Happened In 2013 In One Cartoon

Tyler Durden's picture

While millisecond by millisecond we spend our lives focused on the machinations of the "markets", a lot of 'other stuff' happened in 2013. The following incredible image from Beutler Ink's Mario Zucca packs in an entire year's worth of 2013's major events.

And Mario has been kind enough to provide a 'cheat sheet'...

Nelson Mandela died this year? I had no idea.

F-Tipp's picture

I hope we see the opposite in 2014, actually. The longer this charade continues, the more we can all purchase. Here's to $15 silver and $800 gold.

Troll Magnet's picture

What about those "off'd" by the govt, Aaron Swartz & Mike Hastings? Where are they?

KickIce's picture

That would be real news.  If they included them they would also have to include Ben supporting the market with CNTL-P as well as Obama and Congress on puppet strings being manipulated by the banks.

Where is cameo depict of death of Mikhail Kalashnikov?

Harlequin001's picture

Shouldn't there be a lot more money in this picture, and a few helicopters?

Where's the food queue? It's long enough to stretch to the next world war...

Surely that should be in it?

and I think he forgot to colour the radioactive clouds in the sky green or something...

Did they off Roger Ebert, too?  I had no idea he died.  Rest In Peace, formerly fat man cum skinny who married a Nubian and who I went from hating to appreciating when I noticed a correlation between his reviews and the movies I ended up liking myself, and who ended up actually being a cool dude.

I am Chumbawamba.

Who is Marcia Wallace?

At first I thought Mrs. Kerpapple from the Simpsons died.

I haven't had a tv in so long I'm not sure the Simpsons are still on or not.

I went all in at prices lower than that. I remember everyone telling me I was crazy to do that. Ha Ha HA!

Boris Alatovkrap's picture

At present, copper is real steal. Especially when is discover in pre-refine subterranean seam.

Skateboarder's picture

That one dude who died just in time for Obozocare failures to be temporarily overlooked by the MSM. Too bad they can't pull the plug again, as someone already said on ZH. Sure looks like they could use the other 8 lives of a cat.

Exactly . Just put a blank piece of paper and ask that it be filled in next time. Give me a break. "Year in review"? Everything that happened happened here. Now suck my wanker.

New ObamaCare "Fees and Taxes" coming in 2014

The new taxes on one customer’s bill added up to $23.14 a month, or $277.68 annually, according to Kaiser Health News. It boosted the monthly premium from $322.26 to $345.40 for that individual.

http://nypost.com/2013/12/25/new-obamacare-fees-coming-in-2014/

$277.68 just the taxes OR $95 penalty

Hmmm... It's hard to guess which option healthy young individuals will choose...

Colonel Klink's picture

The entire Obamascam swindle can suck my balls.  I'm not paying them one red fucking cent.

El Vaquero's picture

Fuck'em right in their statist cornholes.

State is levy excise tax on corn hole.

Tijuana Donkey Show's picture

Better barter then. It's being built into the dollar, and nearly impossible to avoid. One group who gets 0 mention is vets and petcare. Almost all vet medical supplies just jumped 2%+ because of ACA medical device tax. Nothing says human or animal, so watch the pinch happen when you take your pet to the vet.

The Navigator's picture

Roger that my Colonel, with you all the way.

Papasmurf's picture

But ObamaCare taxes don’t stop with health-plan premiums.

Americans also will pay hidden taxes, such as the 2.3 percent medical-device tax that will inflate the cost of items such as pacemakers, stents and prosthetic limbs.

Those with high out-of-pocket medical expenses also will get smaller income-tax deductions.

Literally taxing you on an arm and a leg.

Say what you will of Mandela.....he succeeded in his quest even while spening a third of his life in jail.

Can't say the same of Republicans, Conservative and Libertarians.

Not bashing these guys....I have either been one or still am in my own way.  But still.......W in Mandela's column.....L in the column of the team supposedly championing freedom.

TWSceptic's picture

Study the history of Mandela. He was a terrorist, libertarians do not believe in violence to reach a goal. Communists like Mandela don't care, they kill children if they have to and then claim to be heroes.

It's interesting that we all think violence and killing is wrong, but somehow when a government or so called hero does it, we forget.

Here watch this for some truth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7HyuLPWF9I

Jumbotron's picture

<Sigh>

I know his history.  Please reread my post slowly and carefully.  I did not apologize or gloss over his acts of terrorism.  i simply made an ironic post that through perserverance and holding on to a dream and working with a mindset based on the long term and not short term gain (like every 2 years for the Congress and 4 for the President) you can accomplish your goals.

Now......to your point about how libertarians do not believe in violence to reach a goal.  That's why you guys have been failing at maintaining America's freedom since the Revolution.  What do you think the "Libertarians" of the day did to attain our freedoms in the first place in the Revolution?  Why don't YOU research what the Brits were calling us back home in England ?  Why don't YOU research what Jefferson said about how to maintian freedom in America.......here's a very short synopsis.......You have to refresh the tree of Liberty with the blood of tyrants AND patriots.   He also figured that we would have to do this every 20 years or so.  This underscores his cynicism and realism about the nature of the "people" and their ability to not only maintain freedom but their ability to actually fight against it.

Trust me when I say this......freedom is ONLY won and MAINTAINED by bloodshed......always has been and will forever more be the case.  That's human nature.....and that's not going to change either.

Now.....knowing that.....we all have a choice.  Do we fight with armed force if need be....(an eventually it will be the case) if we really mean what we say about freedom.....as defined by the Founding Fathers in the Founding Documents?  Or do we just settle for what we have and what is to come?   Because if it is the latter (and it will be because it will be the WILL of the PEOPLE) then you all should kindly shut the fuck up.

Because Freedom has never and will never be won or maintained through bitching on ZeroHedge or any other web site that you haunt.

But realize this as well.....once you DO decide to pick up the gun....you will be forever more branded and known as a terrorist.  Think your job and livelihood and your families' livelihood is worth your stand on Freedom....knowing that bloodshed is THE ONLY way to achieve and maintain it?

That's what I thought.  Look in the mirror.  There you will see the problem with America.

OT... Does anyone know how many shopping days till Xmas we have left?

364. Don't worry, they'll start reminding you to start shopping through ads and non-stop emails probably starting in Feb or late March.

Did this guy make one for the real world, or just the one for the Hollywood/entertainment crowd.  It must be over my pay grade as I do not understand most of the references.

Lore's picture

My thought as well.  The artist is talented, but popular culture clearly dominates, leaving a big hole. What else happened in the REAL world?

It's lighthearted, and needs to be taken in that vein.  Thanks to the artist for sharing and to ZH for posting it.  Best to all for 2014!

I'm always glad to see the Tardis. With any luck, one day I'll hitch a ride on it and leave this stinking earth.

Go back in time and do something (I'll leave that to you) to, you know, change history.

That's pretty cool; and it's popular because his website completely crashed.

It does give you the "Bread and Circuses" insanity of the New Rome in one picture, eh?

Where's Waldo?

The only thing in the whole list which isn't a distraction from the real things that happened in 2013 is the buried Snowden reference. What an embarrassment to the planet if this contains the most notable of events this year.

Skateboarder's picture

Dude we live on a completely banana planet, i.e. we traded real culture for mass-produced popular culture. When people thrive on a manufactured stories instead of making their own, you have a loss of the free mind. Humans are lost because we do not have a means to express our stories anymore (due to a manufactured story being shoved down your throat, or else!)

Create something today and give it / show it to someone. Be free motherfuckers - CREATE OR PERISH.

Could we bump the Hollywood Idiots in favor of Ted Gunderson, Loretta Fuddy, or other whistleblowers that died of natural or unnatural causes this year?

CunnyFunt's picture

Phones and video-game consoles?

I initially thought that the NYPD car had to do with "stop and frisk", but I suppose that isn't as sexy as all the Hollywad references.

LeisureSmith's picture

Weak sauce indeed, pop fluff escapism. Great for a Hollywood trade publication, but not for ZH. Cute kittens also exist... just saying.

Bawneee Fwank's picture

The image for 2013 should be of Obama addressing the nation/press conference...fucking pole smoker never shuts up or goes more than two days without some kind of press conference or pep rally.
