S&P 500 Should Hit Goldman's June 2014 Target Some Time Tomorrow

Tyler Durden's picture

To think it was just two weeks ago, on December 13, when the S&P was being supported by the "Independence Day" barrier of 1776. It was also on that day that Goldman's strategist David Kostin updated his most recent forward S&P500 price targets for both 6 months ahead (i.e. June), and December 31, 2014. The numbers were 1850 and 1900 respectively.

What is just a little bit concerning, is that the S&P, following yet another 10+ point move today on what can only be characterized as "hilarious" volume, will hit Goldman's S&P500 June price target some time tomorrow (or maybe today if the NY Fed trading desk sends the VIX to a 10, or single-digit, handle).

What is even a little bit more concerning is that applying the Birinyi rule of forecasting, the S&P will hit Goldman's full year 2014 price target by Wednesday, or the latest Friday of the first week of 2014.

One just has to sit back and laugh at what the central planners have done.

Goldman's S&P price forecasts were just suggested retail prices. Discounts Markups are allowed and strongly encouraged.

If the 10 year goes to where it should with 2% inflation plus 2.5% growth meaning at least 4.5% and housing tanks as a result, QE will be increased to push it down again. 10 year needs a buyers strike.

It's too late. They've set the stage for an epic stock market bubble. We are going parabolic. It started last fall and will not stop until it implodes. Rates don't belong at zero and QE should have ended long ago. Instead, they promised to keep rates at zero even longer and not stop QE for at least a year.

The market could be up 30% in the next 3 months. Over 5 years of free money is beyond over the top and they have no clue.

All things are possible with the Fed on your side.  If the NSA can indulge in almost infinite spying, collecting 5 billion smart phone locations a day, why can't the Fed manipulate markets a few thousand times a day?

Fraud, it's the new American way.

The central planners have done exactly what they are supposed to do. They preserved the system and continued to line the pockets of their owners while the rest of us eat worms.

The Fed and Central banksters are out to prove they are the market.

They can control the market and governments.

Citizens are not needed, only to dispose of their wealth and give it to the banksters.

The Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market.  The market was bigger that they were and the market is bigger than the FED is.

"banality of evil." they're not even hiding their disdain for the economy or income growth this time. treasuries are saying "not everything is to be bought." stocks and stocks alone "are the only asset class." (for the third time in three decades.) it's when interest rates start falling again that we'll have our "oh, shit" moment in my view. I did like the headline "Japan says sayanora to deflation." and then says "hello Okinawa!"

I look at the absolute absurdity and irresponsible behavior being exhibited by the policy makers in this country, and shake my head in disgust.

This article shows a small glint of the real state of the ecomony, and the truth that's evaded every day by the scum that calls the shots in this country. We've got equity markets at all time highs, and this crap is going on. It's also against the law in many ways as you'll read.  Local courts reviving 'debtors' prison' for overdue fines, fees | Fox News

Speaking to absurd policies.  Starting Jan 1 in Chicago, it is now a ticketable offense to toss a cigarette butt on the ground (even as a smoker, I'm ok with this (littering)).

The kicker is - the third offense is considered a FELONY.  The bangers, flash mobs and knock out thugs are shooting, stabbing and beating people on a regular basis without media exposure or police crackdown, but tossing a cigarette butt on the ground can get you tossed in jail.

Good to know the already useless police force will be spening their time trolling the mag mile looking for smokers instead of the rock slinging, illegal gun toting killers on the south/west side.

That looks like a GREAT school.  Alas, I didn not enjoy the benefits of a private Catholic school education, but my children certainly did here in the Catholic school mecca of St. Louis.

I was four years out of the cattle call of under-financed, baby boom generation, public schools when Wild Planet was released.

Thus, I is old.

Dear Chardon trustee,

I grew up in Newbury. After your Chardon school shooting and watching how you plan to take over a township. I haven’t stepped up in that fucked up township for 20 years. My Father sold all his property. I can tell you, those who live there will still abide to old school rules. Chardon is not to oversee Geauga County township as a depot lever.

Andy, it’s me. Has been about 20 year since you pulled me over on SR 44. Keep those people together in the township. Think BOBO, Limey “UH” and lighting up in the school zone. The fresh smell of raw tire rubber. Prior to pulling me over, your sister was trying to get her ass on my father’s boat at grand river, told me she was a lawyer. We both laughed during traffic stop.  We’ll meet in time. Hope you’re doing well. Small world. Keep those fucker's in line.

Sgt. Andrew Janu of the Ohio Highway Patrol's Geauga Post

looks on target for me

happily ready to short using leverage without margin - HVU (tsx) which moves like vxx or spxu (not quite), but much, much faster.

Just dipping a toe in but even that little will pay off large later. HVU (1/11) x SPY = 16471/75 (for now) http://flic.kr/p/iwHcZZ
