David Collum's Year In Review - The Interview

Tyler Durden's picture

For some, despite being the holidays, reading all 89 pages of David Collum's annual epic 'year in review' is tough to squeeze in between earning minimum wage at Toys'r'Us for 85 hours straight or "consuming" as much food and iPads as possible. Luckily, Erin Ade of Boom Bust sat down with David to discuss the critical aspects of his voluminous tome. Given his initial comments, we suspect the 20 minutes are well worth watching...

"Gold has a severe beating this year... and it's ironic that people say "buy-and-hold" but then when you have bad year "ahh, you're an idiot"

Collum remains long precious metals because he thinks "the Fed is a reckless bunch of characters who [he is] not even sure have above average IQ... I think they are going to do some damage"

Collum's interview starts at 4:20...

And the full review is available here:

Up 12 years (in a row) out of 13 isn't a bad average....(on gold).

Anyone thinking the worldwide Golden Bull market is somehow dead is completely clueless.

Everyone that says the gold bull market has finished or that stocks are beginning a secular bull forget what what being said by the "experts" back in March of 2009. Here was the summary:

I would love to have the full collection of "Year in Review", but I can't find much beyond 2011... Completely gone?

Hey Tyler, you should hire Lyster to host ZH Live.

I would actually pay for that subscription...(I'd pay for one here to be honest - yes trolls, I have donated...once) which is to say I would pay for ZH...but I am unemployed so thank you for not charging.

Now, get working on Lyster.

Good idea, but Tyler is going to have to run that by Reggie Middleton first.

This chick does not do it for me but I like the dub step wobble intro music to the RT show and I am not a dub step fan.   CNBC is such a douchebag network but I don't watch TV.

Mr. Collum made me rethink my aversion to academics, especially those in economics. I’m wondering if my reaction is tainted by my desire to hear some one voice what I think. He seems to me to be sharp of wit, and willing to discuss TPTB and TBTF.

Unfunded liabilties of $2,000,000 per taxpayer and rising at $70,000 to $100,000 per year in the US.  How can there not be massive inflation if the government does not default on its obligations?  In fact, hyperinlaton is a given with the amount of unfunded liabilities existing now.  How long can the Fed keep gold low?  How many shares of TWTR do you need to afford your share of unfunded liabilities?

This guy went to the same accounting classes I did. Some of my favorite quotes from this interview:

  • "...30% of income is puffery....they're taking operating items and writing them down and pretending like they are something special..."
  • "... a forward looking P/E the market is an estimated 70% over value..."
  • "...so they choose to use the numbers that they get to fabricate. It's a really bad joke..."
  • "...the market had full protection that day..."
  • "... it's a fabricated marketplace...."
  • "the free market is a force of nature, at some point it will rear up and the Fed will be shown to be a relatively incompetent player..."

The ghouls that control our financial markets are going to suck US dry. Our Government is backing them step for step.

Pray for the Republic

Worth a complete read of all 89 pages.

Well written, pithy, humurous, spot on.

There is no way I spent one penny or consumed one molecule of ATP reading this narcissistic egomaniac’s book. Now he’s doddering on the brink of cluelessness. I put it here to see if you are paying attention."

Tylers and ZeroHedge - THANK YOU for providing us an alternative outlet with amazing content like this.  Collum just wrote the most succinct and entertaining summary of our current situation I have ever read.  The bimbette is easy on the eyes, but the interview content is a joke compared to the paper (obvious she didn't read the document).

Happy New Year ZH!
