Japanese Population Plunges By Record In 2013
Given that young people in Japan have lost interest in sex, with 45% of Japanese women 16-24 "not interested in or despise sexual contact," it is perhaps not entirely surprising that, as Japan Times reports, Japan's population fell by a record 244,000 in 2013. This further raises concerns over an ever-dwindling workforce that supports an ever-growing number of pensioners, with the proportion of people aged over 65 reaching nearly 40% by 2060.
An estimated 1,031,000 babies were born in 2013, down about 6,000 from a year earlier, the ministry said.
On the other hand, around 1,275,000 people died — up about 19,000 from the previous year, the highest annual rise since World War II.
As a result, the natural population decline came to a record 244,000, the ministry said, beating the previous highest fall of 219,000 in 2012.
Japan’s population totalled 126,393,679 as of March 31, down 0.21 percent from a year earlier, according to a government figure.
It has continually declined since 2007 by natural attrition — deaths minus births.
Japan is rapidly greying, with more than 20 percent of the population aged 65 or over — one of the highest proportions of elderly people in the world. The country has very little immigration and any suggestion of opening its borders to young workers who could help plug the population gap provokes strong reactions among the public.

If the radiation from Fukushima keeps spreading, the entire population of Japan could become sterile. On a much shorter timeline, the survival rate for the Japanese population would drop to zero.

Japan is pretty crowded, they can afford to lose a few million people a year, as far as no growth or negative population growth, that's not necessarily a bad thing, with no growth you don't have to find additional water supplies for additioinal new population.
Japan can finance it's elderly population with the savings assets of the elderly, bringing in millions of Mexicans to loot the elderly of their assets like in CA didn't help CA seniors, it just raised their taxes.
The big problem here is that the role of salaried Japanese men have been cast off by the corporations, Japanese women have been brought in to replace them. The men are in far more precarious positions financially then the women. In the past, the men were the bread winners and they had a lifetime job. The women expected a stable financial situation where the man brought home a salary for 40 years. Now, no man can count on a sure thing job. The women have also started working and gaining income. The power equation has shifted in favor of the women. The men are uncertain, depressed and hopeless. Japanese women can't count on the man's income. No sexual interest for man who can not bring home lots of bread.
Younger men do not see a future and do not try. They game and do porn. The Japanese girls like to spend a lot of money on clothing and anima play, a kind of "dress up" for adults. There is no intersection of mutual interest for them to work out a new arrangement which can then form the center of a family. So, these kids will grow old playing games, doing porn, dressing up like "Moon Girl" and pretending that life could be better...as their nation dies.
Add Fuck-U to the mix and you've got a nothing future.
This is an excellent and well written summary of the problems in Japan. Young men don't see a future and don't try. Everyone knows it's going to collapse, and when it finally collapses, these young men will be too old to start their own families anyway.
Problem is it's not just Japan. It's America, too. The feminazi's here have destroyed a generation and a half of young men using the public schools. The media constantly denegrate white men, and glorify women and dark complected 'gang bangers'. After 12 to 16 years of re-education camp cum indoctrination/brain washing, young white males in America are incredibly indecisive, ambivalent and unsure of themselves. They know that if they try really hard, they might make $10 an hour in a meaningless part time job with no security, no future and constantly competing with women who are willing to do the same job for $8 an hour (or less). Every bone has five dogs fighting over it. Young men can't afford to establish an independent living apart from their families, and see little hope of ever doing so. They turn to porn in order to take back one small sliver of masculinity that no one can take from them. After a while they see that women are too complicated and too much competition to try to have a relationship with and so they stop trying. They float. They game (another sliver of masculinity - gaming tends strongly toward expression of agression and violence which young men are not allowed to display in public). They exist.
The little girls pretend to be in control. They pretend to be confident. They complain about "where are the men?" at the same time they undermine them. They network with each other and build "good old girl" networks, excluding men, then complain about men not achieving or having good professional positions. They believe their own press about their wonderfulness and they also believe and re-enforce the media prejudice against white males of all but feminine or gay orientations. But, hey, gay guys are really just girls in male clothing, right?
What guy walks around with a "Boy Power" Tee shirt or has a bumper sticker that states "Boys kick ass!"? What guy doesn't think about being married to one of these and watch his life be destroyed in a divorce settlement just as his father was destituted by his mother? Lesson learned there.
Frankly, these idiots are so self absorbed and self deluded that they deserve to be barren or contract STDs from the dark skinned males they resort to because the dark guys exhibit some masculinity. Single mothers can be, in their own minds, both a better mother and better father without a man around. Pity the male child born to one of these.
Young men find a war you can believe in. Move to another country. Develop your warrior or die trying. Marry a foreign woman who wants you to be a man. Leave these sorry American bitchs behind, because they truly are not worth the trouble they will pose to you.
Well said. My own theory is this is all a consequence of fiat currency leading to feminism and upsurping the traditional male role. These problems will gradually correct when a sound money system is restored, because a lack of jobs will force women out in favor of men, and hell has no fury like normal man replacing the corrupt in power. Years of being stepped on and abused will take it's toll and yes, women will be blamed for it. The good news is there will be hordes of suddenly powerless single women desperate for men...like an avalanche. It will be a field day...for a while. I think by 2020 or so, America could be back.

Look, pal, there's nothing the powers that be would love more, than for all these surplus young guys to kill each other. What you are recommending is a bad thing that historically happens when there are too many males. I kind of like American males (and American females), and would rather that American dudes didn't go off to be pointlessly slaughtered, in order to find their "inner masculinity." Beats me where you'll find those swell foreign women. Chinese and Vietnamese abort them, Koreans did until recently. South American/Mexican women I know tend to want to marry into their own culture. Birth rates in these countries and in e.g. Russia are so low, that the number of young women is falling every year (while there are always loads of older/affluent guys hoping to marry younger women). I'm not seeing a lot of guys managing what you describe; it seems to be more of an escapist fantasy for most. But give it a try; no harm in trying; best of luck.
When a male suggests that his fellow young males go off to war, I do wonder if he is trying to reduce the competition he is facing in obtaining female company.
Be very skeptical when some fellow male suggests that you go off to war. For any reason other than immediate defense of your own actual country. And even then be cautious.

Your definition, or presumption of my definition, of war is far too narrow. My point is that a man is born to be a fighter. He must exercise this. A good civilization provides males with forms of engagement which promote their masculinity. These forms of 'war' can be physical conflicts, or spiritual quests, or physical games, business, or other defined actitities. These activities are by and large reserved for men.
The women believe they are more free and more powerful because they are competing with and acheiving something in the market place. They believe they are better off with the money and status. The attributes they are excercising are masculine. The attributes they are forcing on men are feminine. Its not all bad, but look at the men today. They are not confident or happy. They are compliant. Their chins are down. They smile, with a blank look, but without real joy, more of a get along kind of smile.
The women are abusing thier sexuality. They flaunt their bodies and use their physical attributes as a weapon to gain advantage over men. It's incredibly sick. They are the ones fighting a war against men, using every means at their disposal. When sex is used as power then what use for that? You are simply submitting to power, rather than joining in love.
Choose your poison. Go have adventures climbing mountains, running the Amazon, doing scientific research in the bowels of the earth. Make it your life to push the envelope and "go where no man has gone before". At some point there will be some women smart enough to recognize what you and your cohort are doing and will love you for it. Those are the ones you want, but just make sure they aren't play acting. If they are "out on the range" seeking to trap and domesticate a man, then turn away.

A guy in the Middle East or Africa would not use the word "war" that way. Japan is a nation over overcrowding on an Island with too many mountains and too little flat farm land. The experiment of having a large population on the Island has given mixed results. Though economic wealth is high, quality of life is not high. Japanese young people also have very new and consumer based ideas of what life is. I stuggled to understand the militaristic nature of Japanese development up to their defat in WWII. Much of industrial progress went straight into arms and wars. When they rebuilt, they used the new wealth to build a high standard of living. Now after a few generations of wealth, the model is broken, partly by the rise of China. Partly by culutral collapse.
Do Japanese people need a large population? What for really? Once you drop out of imperial expansion, wars of choice and all that, why not relax shed some population, spread out and all have more resources and more space? If capitalism is so weak a system that it can only survive in a nation with growing populations, then it is indeed very weak. I maintain that capitalism, a real free market, does not need growing populations to provide a good life for the people. But then that is just me. I never see China and it's millions as any model I want to live in. I spent time in lightly populated New Zealand, and found a lack of people to be no big deal. Good lifestyle, good quality of life, plenty of clean water and clean air. Open spaces and freedom to move around and enjoy god's gifts to us. Fuck, is someone telling me Canada or New Zealand are fucked up because they don't have large populations? In fact, thos two countries are just what U find attractive for a way to live. Crowded cities and all that. Sure some like it. Not me though.

True Jack, free market capitalism does not need a growing population to be successful , it will adjust accordingly. Unfortunately there is no such system under the planet. The Japanese do however have a credit based monetary system, and that does require an ever increasing population. Without the growth of more debt, the system implodes in a deflationary spiral. That's why they are fucked..... Well that and the fact that they are being microwaved by Fukushima.

This will happen in the US too. The older population has all the assets, the younger only have the debt. The young people in this country typically have massive student loan debt, and are entering the job market with very few opportunities for high paying jobs. They are unable to have children becasue both husband and wife must work full time, and they simply cannot afford it. They must pay huge sums in taxes, and into social security, which support the older population through various ponzi schemes, leaving them unable to afford having kids. This problem compounds itself by its nature, making it worse and worse. Also, a portion of people under 30 underatand the dismal prospects those just now being born will live with, and choose not to have children due the fear of the world they will live in
Don't know about Japan but know quite a number of Hong Kong women of the last generation (late 40s onward) that are asexual. Not the slightest interest in sex or men, only interest in HK movie, singing and TV stars and gossip and trivia.

Sometimes I think I'm the only man on the planet who isn't having sex with strange women on a daily basis. Reading through the posts, sexual appetites seem to be both prolific and undiscerning.
Not making any judgements here, I am aware that things like 'dogging', and casual sex on holidays do happen, but I am still curious about how you can be so indiscriminate about being so intimate with someone without caution and emotional attachment. Diseases, unwanted pregnancies, encountering needy psychopaths are risks that I weigh extremely carefully before I have sex with a woman. These are all life changing risks and I am just not that desperate enough to complicate my life further than it already is. And as for urges, well there's always self control or self pleasure as the need arises, as it were.
Needless to say, I can count the number of partners I had on my fingers, but lost count of the number of times I have said, as politely as possible, no thank you. I don't regret such 'lost opportunities' at all. I really don't understand the need to allow my basest instincts to rule my life and behaviour. Once you have sex a few hundred times with the same woman, the others are essentially no different mechanically, sensually, and the satisfaction is just the same. The whole exhausting effort from the first clumsy introductions and attempts to appear 'cool', to the bedroom gymnastics are just not worth the fleeting reward to me. Getting to know an interesting woman over time, giving her pleasure, and going through the mad thrill of being in love, those things I understand. But going around having sex with as many loose women as possible? Makes me want to take a bath in bleach.
You probably are taking baths (or showers) in bleach already. It's not unsual to see 3 to 8 parts per million chlorine in municipal tap water. I highly recommend a shower filter and changing the cartridges regularly.

What jobs would these workers do? They'd just be added to the unemployment numbers.
Same as everywhere. Menial jobs the Japanese refuse to do themselves. Same trend, different treatment. The Japanese have an entire army of foreign workers, by some counts over 2 million. You come across them all over Tokyo. Cleaners. Construction workers. Waiters, waitresses. Janitors. Not counting the Engrishee teacher douchebags. The only difference with foreign workers in Japan, they don't get "permanent" resident cards. The Japanese keep the foreigners on a short leash.
I know a company that hires foreign software engineers because they were cheaper than Japanese engineers. Does this sound familiar? Up to 2008-9 the engineers were mosty Korean. Business went south in 10-12 and most of the Koreans were let go, I thought they would close up shop but on my last trip I found they had hired 20 new engineers... Indians. Work for less than Koreans and apparently business was recovering modestly.
I heard some of them even brought their families over. I have no idea why. Not a snowball's chance in hell of them ever getting permanent resident status. Maybe the Indians hope even breathing the air in Japan will rub off on their kids or something. Who knows. I cant speak for the living conditions in Hyderbad. Or maybe its a family thing.
Then again... I've heard of "temporary" residents who have been in Japan going on 20 years. Maybe the trend of the future. Being a "temporary" permanent Japan resident.

Then think this and if the population ever reaches this point those that could have children realise the only thing they would be giving to this child is a lifetime of misery and poverty watch the population collapse even faster.
Economics and available resources drives population growth. Remove those and it stall, take them away or make them appear smaller by inflating the value of a system and you will send it into reverse.
Kind of obvious, the result of the way the economy has been manipulated.

japan is an incredible window on the logical end to the industrial/technology/information capitalism economic model.
as the need for humans diminishes humans diminish the numbers of humans. mother nature adapts to the environment. this japanese model may also serve as the survival model for the 21st century. there may be way too many people trying to go to where the food is(ode to sam) this century causing a more dramatic adaptation to the environment.

Marriage & pregnancy are also looked down upon in their culture. You are conflating culture into to the ends of a "system" rather than human preference, & perceptions, which are subjective to individuals in a society.
Undoubtedly there is economic pressures that reduce the motivation to have kids you know like rising cost of living due to money printing, but Japanese simply choose not to have kids. They don't value kids as much statistically. Humans can control their reproduction. I don't see how that is part of a "logical end to a model" of any kind.

What I will say sounds totally insane and cold blooded, but unless all Japanese over 70 decided to terminate themselves, I can't see how they are going to get out of this given their demographic imbalance in favour of oldies, debt burden (owed mostly to oldies) and energy poor status.

Too many elderly may seem like a problem, but it is a problem that will solve itself. When the elderly cannot be sustained by the younger generations, then they won't be sustained.
Japan is currently dependent on food imports and energy imports. The nation cannot sustain itself, so actually this is adaptation. Problem is, it is not a voluntary choice just a coincidence.
