Senator Bernie Sanders Asks NSA If It Spies On Congress
The real life magic-mushroom, banana dictatorship envisioned by George Orwell just went full retard.
From VT Senator Bernie Sanders:
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today asked the National Security Agency director whether the agency has monitored the phone calls, emails and Internet traffic of members of Congress and other elected officials.
“Has the NSA spied, or is the NSA currently spying, on members of Congress or other American elected officials?” Sanders asked in a letter to Gen. Keith Alexander, the NSA director. “Spying” would include gathering metadata on calls made from official or personal phones, content from websites visited or emails sent, or collecting any other data from a third party not made available to the general public in the regular course of business?”
Sanders said he was “deeply concerned” by revelations that American intelligence agencies harvested records of phone calls, emails and web activity by millions of innocent Americans without any reason to even suspect involvement in illegal activities. He also cited reports that the United States eavesdropped on the leaders of Germany, Mexico, Brazil and other allies.
Sanders emphasized that the United States “must be vigilant and aggressive in protecting the American people from the very real danger of terrorist attacks,” but he cited U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon’s recent ruling that indiscriminate dragnets by the NSA were probably unconstitutional and “almost Orwellian.”
Sanders has introduced legislation to put strict limits on sweeping powers used by the National Security Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation to secretly track telephone calls by millions of innocent Americans who are not suspected of any wrongdoing.
The measure would put limits on records that may be searched. Authorities would be required to establish a reasonable suspicion, based on specific information, in order to secure court approval to monitor business records related to a specific terrorism suspect. Sanders’ bill also would put an end to open-ended court orders that have resulted in wholesale data mining by the NSA and FBI. Instead, the government would be required to provide reasonable suspicion to justify searches for each record or document that it wants to examine.
Uhm... yes?

It seems a few ZHers here think that, since the NSA is going to lie, anyone who asks them any questions is an idiot, asshole, or shill.
Which means they don't want anyone asking questions.
Which seems like something the NSA would want.
The irony is delicious!
"...idiot, asshole or shill."
No, but I do think it a waste of time and effort.
The joke here is that a professional liar is asking another professional liar what the truth is.
And, clearly, when both are out in the open it shall become quite apparent that ONE of them is lying. Not seeing that they're willing to push each other that far.
I really do believe that this will rattle the lot of them. I think that their collective asses are on the line if they don't push back on the NSA.
The entire world knows what a joke the US and its spying is (well, not as humor per se).
Congress has been around for a LONG time, it's an essential tool for TPTB. The NSA? It can be rid of to surface as something else, just as has been the case for quite some time (this is not new shit, people!).
Personally, I think they are both liars.
I agree. Though, I wouldn't like to promote Greewald: http://www.corbettreport.com/interview-798-what-is-greenwald-covering-up... (he's strangely very much allowed in the mainstream media these days, as Sibel Edmonds quite clearly points out)
You blind, ignorant fucks!
The fucking words are right there, written down!
The point which we ought to be discussing is how these words might be able to be leveraged. I've offered up one idea (just a quick one) up-thread somewhere.
Again, it's a pretty simple and direct question. Had Ron Paul asked it everyone would be fawning over it and calling it brilliant.
A bunch of fucking hypocrites.
Why the fuck did people bother to drop in on this anyway? Oh, that's right, to call folks faggots and socialists, I forgot... (and to both say that their "representatives" [because representative forms of govt are the best!] won't do anything, all the while chastizing them for not doing anything- WTF?)
@Seer.....I do not agree with you on everything, but thanks for trying to keep this discussion on an intelligent path. It really is sad to see how much ignorant commentary this site is attracting.
Says the guy who can't tell the difference between a professional wrestler and a lawyer...
HaHa.....after looking again, I see that I mixed up Lawler with Lawyer. Speed reading, but still doesn't change the fact that he just needs to get ad block if he wants to stop all the pop-ups.
I'll take your word for the fact that someone is a "professional wrestler", though. That would fall under the category of don't know & don't care.
I think the big difference is that Mr. Paul has been saying the same thing for years.
Mr. Sanders, not so much.
On the subject of representative government.... common as unicorns.
"Why doesn't everyone take the letter at it's face value for now. And see what the response is?"
Which face?!
Take politics at face value?!?!?!?
I gather you just recently arrived on this planet.
Ha. In reality the NSA knew about, penned a response, and had it in Sen. Sander's inbox before old Bernie event sent it!
And this means, what?
The question is invalid, of no use for hammering into people's skulls sometime in the future?
Alternate Version:
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): “Has the NSA spied, or is the NSA currently spying, on members of Congress or other American elected officials?”
Gen. Keith Alexander, NSA Director: "Absolutely not, Mr. Congressman! I am aghast that such a thing could even be thought possible. By the way, about all that frilly lingere you've been buying at that charming little shop downtown? ... just sayin' ... nod's as good as a wink if you know what I'm sayin'.
A politician is compromised beyond the pale unless he entered the system as a outspoken Libertarian, like the Paul's. If you are a Sanders, you squawk here and there...but you have grandkids who need college and the expectations are to please the Status Quo in general versus displease them. See Leiberman's new job and pat on the back as example A.
Again, if Ron Paul had sent this letter everyone would have been praising the EXACT SAME FUCKING WORDS!
Did Ron Paul write such a letter asking the same question?
Did Rand Paul write such a letter asking the same question?
I am not defensing Sanders (I've repeatedly made it clear that I only care about facts, logic and the message), I'm just trying to see if there's an angle to this message that can be leveraged against constitutional abuses.
What about the word "all" does he not understand?
The low intelligence level of the people running this country doesn't even surprise me anymore.
It's getting the lie on the record, you steaming turd pile!
Sigh... glad to see that someone else is frustrated that this has come down to nothing more than a name-calling, social gossiping "discussion."
Don't you know that only Ron/Rand Paul can speak these same words and not be ridiculed (and people believe that if these messengers spake it that it would be so, and God would then have it). Since neither are uttering those words we'll just have to feel that they're doing good work through pictures of them...
Anyway, back to discussions that have some actual actionable content... Do you know for sure that merely writing a letter such as this gets it "on the record" (in the Congressional Record)? If it doesn't, then perhaps someone like Rand Paul can reference it in a congressional session and get it entered as such? (let's put aside the "fact" that that would be blashemous to have a "libertarian" reference something in support of what some "socialist" mentioned and game theory it)
No, the letter would not automatically become a part of the Congressional Record.
It would have to be read/discussed during a Congressional session, or be formally entered as a part of a Congress members Extension of Remarks, or be a part of a Committee meeting where it would be entered in the Daily Digest. These are the ways things become a part of the official Congressional Record.
Let's see what happens.
All he cares about is if they spy on Congress, the rest of the sheep are open game. Bernie is worried they have footage of him fucking his wife's poodle.
That poodle fucking vid is great, he really should have taped that web cam. Oh well, no use crying over spilt... milk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m--1vkPLSrw
The obvious question, and one that apparently eludes all of these elected fucktards, is why the NSA is not reporting and directly responsible to the ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES? I mean who the fuck is driving this bus? Doesn't anyone want the answer to this question? If the NSA doesn't report to the Congress then who the fuck controls them and their mission? Who decides who gets spied on? Who decides what happens to this information. This has shadow government written all over it. But, apparently this concept is way beyond the ability of Bernis Sanders to conceive it. He just wants to know if HE is getting spied on and pretty please leave us alone.
Those words you've typed in all caps? NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY MEANING!
The 'elected' 'representatives' were neither legitimately elected, nor do they represent.
A bit like the Federal Reserve is neither a Federal Agency, nor does it have any Reserve.
Welcome to the real world.
Sanders' questions aren't driven by curiosity, but, IMO, as a means to set Alexander & Co up for eventual prosecution. I hope, anyway.
I'd have liked for Sanders to have asked: "Given that the NSA has been and is assembling vast 'profiles' on US citizens, and given that these citizens fund the NSA and the NSA works for these citizens, is there any reason the NSA cannot or should not be compelled to comply with any request by said citizens to receive full access to their own full profiles"?
unlike prez George Washington, who was said to have uttered "I cannot tell a lie(?)", The Obamanation can be quoted as spewing, " I cannot tell the Truth". Need I conjure up some past quotes from the Liar in Chief?.......didn't think so..........this bullshit is all for show, as usual.
Of course he knows, he's MAKING IT PUBLIC RECORD. Now the MSM idiots will have to start asking questions. And he's daring that little prick Alexander to lie. This issue now becomes MSM and they can't say it;s a "conspiracy theory" anymore. It's IN WRITING for ALL TO SEE.
An excercise in ass-covering, nothing more.
Ask him that under oath on CSPAN. That would impress me. till then, who cares.
CSPAN has become a bad joke. They filter almost as much as the MSM. Pretty soon they'll be recording the questions so callers can't surprise them with embarassing versions of the truth they're trying to cover up with their guests.
Ask Roberts if the NSA had anything on him...
It's the high tide of shittiness in this country when a member of the Socialist Party of America is the only one really asking the hard questions of the NSA.
Agreed with the other commenters......this was a setup for the NSA to lie and then get slapped by another Snowden revelation.
What the FUCK are YOU gonna DO, BERNIE? NOT A GOD DAMN THING!
At least he wrote a fucking letter. And you? Other than strain yourself typing in CAPS?
They say that it only takes 5% or so of the population to shift things. New for you: you won't be selected (only folks that can think strategically).
The first rule is don't talk about fight club.
Do you know why?
Why are you talking about it?
The NSA per the 60 minutes ad maintains their multi billion dollar spying system to watch 15 people worldwide, congress not included.
Actually he is so much more intelligent than you are. He already knows they spy on him, he has said so in radio interviews. The letter is for the record as he brings them in front of Congress to de-nut them all. You are the moron if you don't understand that.
Bingo....justice Roberts, a forsaken....what did they uncover or threaten?
At least someboby asked the question, and will force Alexander to lie (again). Of course, it won't mean diddly because, as Allen Dulles said, the american people don't read. He's a gadfly, sufficiently marginalized that it won't last more than 10 seconds in the news cycle, if at all.
The interesting thing is, Sanders is a full on socialist. If this was about imposing a socialist society then one would think he'd be down with the program. Since he is apparently not down we can conclude it isn't about socialism. Whew, that only leaves every other vile plot known to humanity but at least we don't have to worry about socialism.
On the other hand, he could be playing the part. To what end, I cannot guess. As such, we should assume the first instance is correct: We're so screwed even THE socialist is upset.
Hey Bernie, why not just ask Russ Tice?
The NSA not only spies on Congress, but they blackmail them too. Otherwise, what's the point?
Apparently he's not seen the pic's of Roberts & little boys, goats, chicken entrails, etc.
He might want to stay away from grassy knolls.
Poor Bernie, and WE wonder why their ratings are in the terlit?.
Maybe he's trying to assemble that magical 5% that everyone here seem to always be TALKING about?
Does anyone really think that ONE person can take something like the NSA down? Ron Paul spent how many years trying to assemble enough momentum/weight to knock down the Fed?
Yeah, let's just not talk to folks around us about this because, you know, some "socialist" brought it up...
Of course they do silly! They watch congress the closest of anyone so they can keep tehm under their thumb with all the dirt they compile on them. A lot of NSA folks will retire with fat pensions on all that juice.
"Of course they do silly! They watch congress the closest of anyone so they can keep tehm under their thumb with all the dirt they compile on them"
And we though JE Hoover was bad!
What s stupid question.
Followed by a spectacularly greater stupid comment. Well done!
There are no stupid questions - only stupid answers.
Relax, no one is listening, NSA collects Metadata only . What diffrence does it make ? FuckNSA. Pull the fucking plug from these bastards then march Feinsten, Lindsy Grham and all and hang em high
"Pull the fucking plug"
THERE! Finally! Something actionable!
I'd think they ought not get away so lightly though. I was kind of thinking that they need to atone for all the work they haven't done (and all the harm that they have done)- chain gangs might make a come back...
Trouble is, you are more likely to end up on the chain gang than them.
You have to remember, it's them, not you, that make the rules.
Is he serious? der der der
A little late to the game. But, when I start seeing legislation that eliminates or defunds the NSA then I'll believe anyone in congress is serious.
.....cutting right to the point, dexter!
LOL. Sadly though, we shouldn't need legislation to outlaw or defund unconstitutional legislation. What a freaking mess.
Well, without having a basis in which to anchor your legislation to (flag to rally around) you're not going to get there. So, the point misses the mark...
Staking something like this letter in the sand then provides others to grab as their picket pin. Who knows, maybe someone like Rand Paul will do something with it (outside of election or budget time)?
Again, I find this letter to present a lot of fun for constiuents to ask their congressperson whether he/she is OK with being spied on how long do they think before the NSA exposes their dirty secrets.
McCarthy essentially got clubbed for being a threat to folks in Congress (when it became clear that it became serious when it was no longer regular folks that were being hauled through the muck).
oh, no no no no no NoooOO! ... ... ... ............. yes
No means yes, and yes means anal.
Lol Element, that reminds me of the BBC program "The Vicar of Dibley". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InTAt2hI_kg
Yup, that's it RS, I loved that guy ... at least he was honest.
Yes they do. Warch every Russel Tice interview you can get your hands on.
This is a rhetorical question...Congress critters are one of the primary targets.
Sanders and Paul running as opponents, then merging would stimulate real debate.
http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/gloomy-americans-foresee-a-downhil...
Yeah, folks are really worried about what 2050 is going to be like. Hell, most are just worried about what the cat food is going to taste like in 2015 and whether they can afford it.
2050 on planet Earth? A very iffy assumption IMO.
Oh 2050 will come around, question is will anyone be left that knows how a calendar works by then.
Iphone internet stupidity has already begun wiping out cursive writing, soon math, then reading, then just destroy the electronic network and watch the barbarians pumel each other. ]
its a clever plan, the velvet trap enticed by our own rapture over clever electronics and a constant need to be entertained.
we never felt the knife until it was pulled out.
I posed the question on zerohedge if roi on stock picks would be better as an NSA analyst spying on Congress or Fed members. You can't tell me there isn't some 20 something year old at the NSA doing both. If I had the power, I would. Could also be lucrative selling that info to foreign governments, blackmail, or destroying politicians you don't agree with... how did they catch Petraeus again?
Problem is that you'd never know more than those who have a tighter grasp on the racket. And, well, how lucky do you think you'll be in not tripping them up (when you don't know you are)? I'd say that your career in solo-ing a racket might not last very long...
It is not like they follow the laws anyways. You don't have to when you a spying apparatus like that. Sanders can chirp all he wants nothing is going to change when they can indiscriminately leverage that apparatus to apply pressure to affect outcomes in their favor. And in the instances where they can't they just kill you if you become too much of nuisance. This is going to take ALOT more than compromised self interest first blow hards paying lip service to fix this problem.
There is a reason why things are firewalled in the first place like domestic and foreign, investment and savings, etc. These assholes and not just the NSA it includes all them including Mr. Sanders there have systematically removed them all. It is beyond simple legislative fixing at this point.
That USA PATRIOT ACT was a thing of beauty, wasn't it? Also helped get rid of the "socialist" Feingold: the ONLY US Senator to vote against the act.
I still believe that this can have an effect. But as long as there's still levers of power to grab on to it'll just be a rinse-and-repeat...
Why ask the obvious? Here is indisputable proof that the NSA spies on Congress from the agreement the Obama administration signed with Israel handing over all data collected on Americans to Israel without any legal requirements in March 2009:
The most extraordinary passage in the memo requires that the Israeli spooks “destroy upon recognition” any communication provided by the NSA “that is either to or from an official of the US government.” It goes on to spell out that this includes “officials of the Executive Branch (including the White House, Cabinet Departments, and independent agencies); the US House of Representatives and Senate (members and staff); and the US Federal Court System (including, but not limited to, the Supreme Court).”
The stunning implication of this passage is that NSA spying targets not only ordinary American citizens, but also Supreme Court justices, members of Congress and the White House itself. One could hardly ask for a more naked exposure of a police state.

Smells like Amerikan Dictatorship in the making. Lovely. USSA spreads Demokrasi eh.
hmmm....makes you wonder what they dug up on John Roberts to get Obamacrap mandate through......
The persistent rumor is ;ah certain irregularities in his childrens adoption.
Hell of a lever if correct.
It shouldn't be a hell of a lever. Unorthodox and/or quasi legal adoptions are not all that uncommon among the East Coast Establishment (like household help paid cash or other informal compensation for instance). If the guy had any sack what-so-fucking-ever he would have taken the heat and let the chips fall where they would. It's not like he can be fired or impeached. But no, he pussied out in the worst way, bent over backwards to give ACA the most whacked and indefensible constitutional imprimature, and directly caused no end of difficulty for vast numbers of americans while legitimizing an criminally inept administration. Douche.
Ummmm... if he had any sack he wouldn't be in the federal mafia.
Why do you carry on as if these actors are real people?
They are nothing but a PR front for the most organized form of crime on the planet.
"destroy upon recognition”
Oh, OK, no problem. Consider it done.
Hey boss! Just got another intercept from the white house. Looks like Obama scored a couple of OZ's of coke from his limo driver after he gave him a blowjob. Yeah? throw that in the burn pile, would ya?
They might destroy it, but not until they've written it down on a(nother) piece of paper. I'm sure some legal beagle has already figured out that fits the requirements.
well its only fair, Mossad built the damn thing.
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/04/shady-companies-nsa/all/
I guess having a key to the front door is a tad more convenient than having to go around back all the time, eh?
I am no longer amazed by this sort of thing but I was amazed that the American press basically ignored both of these aspects. I'm not saying its some vast media conspiracy, just that news editors seem to not want to touch it if it involves Israel looking bad.
Which is why Americans don't really have any fair and balanced understanding of the I/P conflict, I think - less an explicit decision or marching order and more a fear of the inevitable, irrational, but well-publicized shrieks from Abe Foxman et al.
p.s. World Socialist Website, though? Really? Come on... come on, dogg....
It is not just Israel. Before the firewalls were taken down all the spy agencies had agreements to spy on each other's countries communications. The Canadians intercepting US cell phone communications, etc. The only difference was that information couldn't be used in a court of law domestically. Now with the faux war (no declared domestic enemies) on terrorism they've basically turned the US in foreign battlefield with the citiizens as the undeclared domestic enemies. This is why we have fucking laws and protections that are supposed to be clear absolutes above courts for this very reason. If they are not enforced then we might as well stop making any pretenses on all sides because we in essence have no functioning federal justice system.

Was out the other day and saw a newer POV big van driven by a woman and it all looked like it was a setup to haul around a bunch of children (from the clans). A bumber sticker on the back bumper read "I Stand By Israel."
I betcha that this woman and her "associates" probably don't care too much for the US govt, yet, that very govt is working in lock-step with the Israeli govt to clamp down on people just like them. Prejudices and bigotry are powerful blinders...
I think these NSA jackasses still think they are going to be allowed to walk on this. Considering they are responsible for backdooring China into all of our top military and economic data, as well as spying on every US citizen, I think they need to start finding lawyers. A pendulum this heavy swings hard in both directions.
It's the pole ax I wanna see swingin!
Relax Bernie, award more Defense Contracts to LockHeed Martin, CSC, Exelis, General Dynamics, Boeing and all will be well. Where is TOM RIDGE and Hayden? Kick them and ask them questions. Enough talk already.
Somebody had to ask out loud and on the record.......will the NSA send Clapper out to explain?
They NSA will just claim the post office didnt deliver it.
Will anyone believe Clapper if he does?
This is an outrage!! Its fine they spy on the sheeple, but CONgress?? Have you no shame NSA!! Funny how they dont giv ea $hit about the people, but when it comes to Congress, its a major issue.
I guess they have more to hide.
Yes they are above the law did you forget that? Wonder what the fuckers will do.
Above the law, yes. Above coercion and blackmail by other politicians who have access to the NSA data? Not a chance.
I think that this is a very big point, one that many miss out on.
It's my belief (I've commented already on this, but will repeat it as encounter the opportunity to do so) that this is likely going to make the lot of them VERY nervous and that the only real way out is to push back on the NSA. If they try to side with the NSA then it's like a circular firing squad...
We do not need a new law to protect us from this shit. The United States Constitution already addresses the issue in no uncertain terms. People need to wake the Hell up and stop allowing the these assholes to "give us more rights and protections" WE ALREADY FUCKING HAVE...........!!
Our laws are based on precedent so even if they stomp all over the constitution, if the chicken shit people we elect to protect and defend the constitution are afraid that if they speak up they might not win their next election, we have no legal defense. The constitution has no defenders, least not ones who's oath of office is to do so. SCOTUS has now become a social litmus system that interprets our constitution and its guaranteed freedoms based upon how effective the media has been in convincing us we need neither.
More likely they are afraid of being assassinated.
How's this for incremental awakening?
In the biz since 72.

Isn't there some kind of law against asking awkward or difficult questions?
Sanders is in a tiny minority of three or four Senators that would ask something like this. "They" are not worried.
It is always important to have some fringe voices heard to maintain some illusion of freedom and competency.
Sanders caucuses with the Democrats. I wonder if any of them will be joining/supporting him openly in this query.
I personally don't care, but the theatrics might be entertaining...
As I noted above, the ONLY way they're all going to get out alive is if they ALL join together on trouncing the NSA. A few here or there (McNasty, are you listening?) ought to consider that you cannot "join" the NSA and that you'd only be used (until such time as they feel they no longer need you, and that might be very short).
In the US, there probably soon will be - senators and congressmen will be exempt from the consequences of stupidity, however.
So, when are the patriots going to stand-up to the NSA?
Or, is the NSA actually viewed as "patriotic" amongst most "patriots"; and these "patriots" are just trying to find some good bullshit which will actually "prove" that the NSA is actually in Merica's best interests?
The only patriots that can legally stand up to the our government are those we elect to do so. All others are a threat to be dealt with. Whine and bitch all you like but do not show up making demands and threats as you are not in any legal position to do so. When we hire others to defend us, it is like depositing money in a bank. It is no longer ours, it is their money, it is their power. We have given them the power, like a power of attorney that allows your greedy children to have you committed so they can control your remaining wealth. But they promised to take care of you. When you give your power, your freedom away, it is no longer yours.
In BizarroAmerikka it is the traitor that stands up to expose the bullshit.
Bernie,
Whay not walk down the hall and ask your jew Buddy Feinstein about this shit
It appears that a senator may about to have a hot tub accident...

Stay safe my friends
Hah, of course the NSA is spying on Congress. They are spying on everyone, including themselves.
Duh! How else are they gonna get the votes right by these puppets for the MIC needs and general blackmail? The NSA votes for me now. I just sit back and watch the theater.
Of course not Bernie, we await your formal answers to sooth the pheasants over first. At that point, when you don't pass a certain law, the NSA mob will visit to aid in slanting your voting decision. Welcome to the new world law of extortion.
Hmmmm, pheasant....
Hunting Joke, don't burn off any remaining brain cells. ObamaCare needs your $$ to create his Healthcare Ponzi Scam.

Two weeks and they'll be at each others throats. All their power struggles and fascist bullshit being played out in miniature and in close quarters. No Thanks. I'll take my chances with the regular old country folk on the surface. Warts, rads, and all. In the winter, when we're bored and hungry, we can pass the time looking for ventilation shafts and blocking them up.
We will forward our answer to your two Mistresses Bernie.
Thank you for your interest.

Checks and balances ... exactly as the founding fathers intended them to work. That should put a stop to all those NSA shenanigans. I'm feeling the chains of tyanny lifting already.

I'm sorry but colonel Sanders is an idiot, and his little letter smacks of a political smoke screen to show that he is "watching out for the little people". If he was serious he would be leading the effort to defund the NSA, but we know that's not going to happen because they would unleash a deluge of dirt on this scumbag.
Looks like some people don't like me talking about their favorite chicken.
Let's see. He is not under the thumb of the two corrupt, filthy, chosen teams. He is one of the only politicians to get pissed off about Wall Street crime. He tried to go after the fed and now he is busting the balls of the NSA. Yeah, yet right, he is an asshole! Good thing you don't base your entire existence on labels or anything.
Look at his voting record and see who votes in lock step with then tell me he's not under the thumb of one of the two teams. Independent my ass. Busting the balls of the NSA with his cute little politically expedient letter...... Lol.....You're such a dupe.
Yeah, no shit. Bernie is a true player and he knows what plays well at home. Lately he has taken up with the Eco-Loons in driving Vermont back to the Stone Age.
What a guy.
What a Watermelon.
What a fuckwad.
I like Bernie but this is what Socialism brings. A few "smart" people running everything and then nobody watches the watchers.
It's easy for politicians and banksters to promise people things (other than to protect and defend life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) but much harder to deliver.
I think Bernie got hit in the head the day he tried to reign in the Fed.
If I was on a jury and judging why John Roberts reversed his intial ruling and writing on ObamaCare, I would vote he was balckmailed by the folks from Chicago in the White House.
NSA is dangerous and pales the danger from terrorist. Our Forefathers in America have drowned in their tears with the way a brutal federal government has cowered its citizens. Who passed original Patriot Act?
You may be right about the NSA having dirt on him, but I was always suspicious of Roberts after the way I saw Chuck Schumer cozying up to him. My guess is that Roberts role going in was to be the swing vote on Zerocare.
Chuck Shumer sheds suspicious like virus particles.
Gen. Alexander still has his job after it became common knowledge that he lied to congress
What does that tell you?
Unless, uncle Bernie lays the charges against the General, it's all Kabuki. Mid-terms anyone?
Excellent point.

We can make the NSA irrelevant. We shut down AskJPM. That was a great mistake on their part as it demonstrated that we have the power.
Let's use it.
To die for God is beneficial as martyrdom leads to great rewards. Thermonuclear Destruction of the Beltway is imminent.
@TT,
I don't know if I've ever disagreed with any of your posts.
"To die for God is beneficial as martyrdom leads to great rewards.'"
Sounds like 72 virgins :D Just shows to go ya, when they've taken EVERYTHING there's nothing left to lose.
Ah, it's just Tall Tom Talking Terrorist is all
As soon as anyone brings god into an argument, you know they've lost.
And I thought it was the FBI that was in charge of spying on CONgress. Do we really need the FBI if NSA and CIA are picking up their work? J. Edgar Hoover would not approve if he were still here, no sir. Where's the tradition, sheesh.
If they're spying on everybody else, then they fucking well better be spying on congress.
They used to but after the darpa ultrarobotic bear poop catchers were installed they got freaked out and just use truckstop toliets nowaday... (now you know why they look like that)
The NSA will deny it then there will a Snowden document release that proves it.
Nothing will change either.
No - The NSA spell-checker software was placed on your computer only for your safety.
It's not just congress, it's everybody including supreme court and federal justices as well as top military commanders. Look at some of the rulings that have been handed down at the federal level recently concerning privacy matters and tell me they they're not blackmailing these federal magistrates.
The more important ? is that since they are spying on everyone, how come no banker or SEC or IRS fuck went to jail yet, let alone charged or arrested?
