Ship Sent To Rescue Global Warming Researchers Trapped In Antarctic, Gets Trapped In Antarctic
From ironic to ironic-er... the Chinese icebreaker ship that helped rescue the 52 Australian global warming researchers from being trapped in Antarctic ice has found itself stuck in heavy ice. As Reuters reports, The Snow Dragon had ferried the passengers from the stranded Russian ship to an Australian icebreaker late on Thursday. It now had concerns about its own ability to move through heavy ice, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said.

"It will attempt to maneuver through the ice when tidal conditions are most suitable during the early hours of 4 January 2014," AMSA said.
The Australian icebreaker carrying the rescued passengers, the Aurora Australis, will remain on standby in open water in the area "as a precautionary measure", the rescue agency said.

You seem very confident in your deprogramming, yet as I see it, you're very much still in the Matrix. One thing is having a healthy dose of criticism on institutions in general; another much different is being fanatically critic of every single one of them (science included)
If science was such a powerful policy vehicle, things would be much different nowadays. You talk of powerful selfish interests when referring to the scientific community. But where I see those powerful selfish interests are in those who live with concentrated wealth and whose interests will not align with "common good". As in, eg., oil companies.
AGW is science. The scientific method proved it. Scientific institutions WORLDWIDE accept it through peer review and the scientific method. If it had become a policy vehicle, we would have forced oil companies to leave known reserves in the ground. Which not only didn't happen, but I guess will never happen.
While you might think there are no sides, everyone is bought; I still do think there are sides: the rich and powerful and the rest of people. Those with the dough and power to instill their preferences and those who have to suffer from those consequences. And I guess you never thought that the countries with the biggest mistrust for AGW science are those in the sphere of influence of Ruppert Murdoch media. I live in a country without that, and nobody here has qualms with science. Yet look at policies in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand. Everyone of them doing whatever they can not act in front of an existential threat such as AGW (if you believe in science, then you would understand why this is the existential threat of them all).
Or do you actually believe those aforementioned countries are actually the saviors of freedom against, for example, the "authoritarian third world"? Don't make me laugh, please.

That is our main point of disagreement. I'm fortunate to have met some outspoken critics among the rather fragmented scientific community and looked at various points of contention. From where I sit, "scientific doubt" ABOUNDS, skullduggery ABOUNDS, and local "authorities" are ramming "sustainability" down the public throat every day. Just turn on the local radio. Ugh!

I'm not an American, and over here local radio doesn't say much of the likes. But I consider "sustainability" as something independent from AGW. After all, look at the word. The objective of that should be more like building resilient systems which can be sustained throughout time. Although I kinda understand what you mean. I work in construction and there's so much BS on LEED certificates. Yet, that and governments actually doing something on AGW are two different things.
Agenda 21 as a platform for world government required a supranational crisis to gain traction. AGW "Fit The Bill" (their exact words). I've never met a "green" who didn't fear the anthropogenic sky falling.

Hm, the site you provided is part of the Heartland Institute. That's NOT a reputable scientific source. If you believe in science and the scientific method, you should reconsider taking that site seriously.
Agenda 21 hasn't got anything to do with the conspiracy about "global government". It's just a series of policy recommendations made by UN panels. I really wonder how many individual states actually took them into action... at least not here. After all, it's non binding and voluntary, which means it can't become supra-constitutional legislation as in international accords.
The LEED certification BS ain't so much about regulations here (as there are no LEED requirements in legislation) but about adding value to properties through sometimes really crappy measures. Not always, but sometimes.
I'll add something else. If you get your anti AGW information from Fox, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, WUWT, Alex Jones, etc...; those also are not reputable science sources.

They also cause respiratory issues as well as contaminate the water and soil.
But as a whole...as a species...as an industrial species that has only been kicking some ass on this planet for only the last couple hundred years we have had very little impact on anything attributed to "global warming". We are ants compared to the geological powers of this planet. A volcano spews out more shit into the atmosphere than most of the total atomic bombs humans have detonated since the early 20th century. Hm, first and foremost. We've been having the warmest years in recorded history (global temp averages) since 1998, at the same time we've been having the lowest sun activity. The sun "woke up" (went from a cycle of low activity to one of higher activity, as it always did) in 2012. And yet it has to take up on activity, yet global avg temps KEEP GOING UP. Or I guess we could compare our own temp avgs with a planet without atmosphere to check if the sun is actually the cause... but 'tseems that temps on the moon don't correlate with warming on earth... so guess what...
Also, humans actually have huge impact on the planet. We're the biggest solid ground creators, surpassing nature. We've pushed species to the limit of extinction (check bluefin tuna). We've created huge swaths of floating trash in the Pacific. And those are few examples. Our activity is nothing like "inconsequential", at least since the industrial revolution.
