"Heartbroken" Christie "Surprised At Stupidity"; Apologizes; Fires Bunch Of Staff; "Crazy" To Think He'd Resign

Tyler Durden's picture

Governor Christie says he is "doing a lot of soul-searching," over the "callous indifference" displayed by his former campaign manager Bill Stepien (since asked to leave) and Chief of Staff Bridget Kelly (since fired). He was "disturbed by the tone and behavior and attitude" of the emails he saw (following his workout). The "heartbroken", "not a bully", Governor accepted responsibility for his staff's actions and is embarrased and humiliated... but "it's crazy man" to think he would resign...

Via The Hill... the problem...

...emails obtained by The Hill and other publications on Wednesday raised significant questions about that explanation. They showed a top Christie aide, deputy chief of staff Bridget Ann Kelly, appearing to collude with David Wildstein, a Christie appointee at the Port Authority, to create traffic in the town.

“Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee,” Kelly emailed to Wildstein after the mayor failed to back Christie.

“Got it,” Wildstein emailed back.

is Christie over 400 lbs? That is like stacking eight 25lb bags of dog food on a regular 200 lb guy. That guy is insanely obese.

No kidding. I weigh between 170 and 175 for the most part, at 6 ' 2". I once, for a short time was over 185. Felt like a fat slob. Started increasing my workouts to get back down to my preferred weight. I just cannot imagine having to carry that much weight on a pair of human legs. Not to mention, what it must be like when he has to "drop a deuce"! EEK!!!!!

Truly shocked at my fellow ZH-ers for focusing on this one person.  This scandal along with all the others that occur in government need to be pointed out as shining examples of why the Power of Government must be limited.  Rogue traffic workers, rogue IRS workers, rogue NSA workers, rogue TSA workers, rogue FBI, rogue ...

Either the workers are not rogue and the actual government control structure directs them to punish the citizens

OR

The workers are rogue and the government control structure cannot control or chooses not to control their workforce from punishing citizens.

Fear the bureaucracy. For it becomes the means to it's own ends. It breeds secrets and hides accountability.  It feeds on those who create and those who must deal with it. It stretches from the capital to the lowliest municipal clerk in the smallest municipality. They are dependent on you and therefor must control you and do so with your permission. Pretend you are not a victim at your own peril. Pretend that you are fighting it when it controls you.

Go ahead, assign labels and colors to the nationwide network of ant hills consuming you as they go about their daily business of eating everything in their path.

The chains we dressed ourselves in because no one said, "NO"

"Overwhelmed only by the MUCH worse odor of NJ Communists, who call themselves Democrats."

Vastly overwhelmed by the ignorance of those chained to the red/blue delusion. Which of course is why we will have more of the same. Scum by any other name is still scum. No matter the package it is wrapped in.

Trumped even more by the vacuous condescension of those deploying simplistic, cartoon-like terminology such as "chained to the red/blue delusion".

There is indeed not NEARLY enough difference in the current two party set up, and Christie is an absolutely reprehensible RINO, but to deny that there are no "Red" politicians trying to forge a smaller government consensus, is blindly ridiculous.

Even Christie will at least occassionally provide the proper public protests against rampant Collectivism.  Not nearly enough, but definitely better than the Democrats' headlong, default rush toward a government that is wholly pervasive.

"but to deny that there are no "Red" politicians trying to forge a smaller government consensus, is blindly ridiculous."

And by that logic, to deny that there are no blue politicians trying to work with red politicians to reach compromise that would be of benefit to "all" people and not just one particular constituency is equally riduculous.

It is never all one way but there are many of both "mainstream" parties spending a great deal of money to have you believe that it is.

You are deluded if you believe that anything can be solved "politically" THERE ARE NO POLITICAL SOLUTIONS.

Consensus is not necessarily truth. Agreement is not necessarily truth.

One must be Self Reliant. Instead of seeking to be lead you must lead yourself.

The Government is not God and is subject to the same follies and failures of being Human. They cannot choose that which is better for you.

In fact because of their average IQ of the bureaucracy the best outcome is mediocrity as that is what one gets from the average. There will be nothing noteworthy or outstanding. They are no brighter, on average, than the average. Average intelligence is rather unremarkable.

To expect that which is synergistically better from a bunch of average people is the epitome of the irrationality so prevalent in today's entitlement mentality crowd.

As an example of the delusion that too many have about Government is that the masses somehow believe that the Government's function is to "create jobs" That is not anything near the stated mission of the Government.

It is absolutely irrational that anyone expect something from Government other than abject failure.

Listen, Christie and ALL the ridiculous fake press he gets is controlled opposition.

The democrats/Hillary Clinton need some kind of fake opposition to "run against" and Christie is just the cheapest ass wipe around - He's over the bridge in Jersey.

The last thing the corporate media and the Demo-fascist Party want is to give Rand Paul (or any independent- anti-banker) a seat at the table.

Christie is McCain, is Kerry, is Mondale.

This guy look like he is from Central Casting on his way to the Sopranos set.

I could barely consider this flake to move my refrigerator. The idea that he even gets traction in the republican party just shows how vapidly dead that "party" is.

I have never meet a republican outside of New Jersey that had a sliver of interests in that guy's east coast mafia politics and anti-charisma.

Christie is fake opposition for a blind, obedient, fake media; Fox, CNN, and MSNBC, Disney, etc.

I am almost surprised by the child-like stupidity and naivete on here at times.  Of course Christie isn't going to resign over something so relatively-mild and tha he was going to deny any invovlement since there is no 'smoking gun' found so far, set up the standard PR conference, make a few people fail on their swords, and move on.

Governors retaliate all the time against political enemies.  Always have and always will.  The question you needs to be ask is whether Christie directly orderded this and if so why.  If he did, it means he is a pretty vindictive son-of-a bitch even by political standards.  It was an incredibly crass to do to a mayor who is politically insignificant in NJ and frankly doesn't matter in the schme of things in a state-level.   Somebody with that kind of temperant isn't a quality you want in the Oval Office.

Hey, it's New Jersey!  How come nobody is asking what favor Christie did for the Fort Lee mayor that the mayor refused to repay?  This is a pay-for-play state, and retribution like this is not called for unless somebody welshed big time.

And exactly who has been reading those emails and releasted them?   Was there a Snowden in the NJ IT organization, or was a search made at the NSA?

It does show how dumb even the best player Republicans are in general.  All the democrats seem to know not to use work computers and official email for this kind of nonsense.

Christie is one of the few Republicans who can play the required game here in NJ.  He just needed better help.  I'd vote for him again in NJ, but never on the national stage.
