French Jobseekers Surge To New Record High

Tyler Durden's picture

For a moment there, mid-year, when the French forgot to send texts out to all their unemployed people to confirm their joblessness, that French and European leaders looked at the French jobseekers data and hailed the corner as having turned. It has not! For the 30th of the last 32 months, French joblessness increased. At 3.303 million jobseekers, French unemployment is at an all-time record high (and 10Y French debt trades 36bps lower in yield than US 10Y).

It seems like it's time for Hollande to invade another small African nation (and instigate a draft?)

Though we accept congratulations related to this new record setting by the government, the reader should also be aware that these statistics are about as fudged as the US ones, and adding anywhere between 50% and 100% is possible...:(

Socialists gain power out of unemployment numbers because of all the benefits they give away to the unemployed. Something Obama still needs to learn.
All it takes is to be sure that the number of unemployed is bigger than the employed.

I remodeled a worn out kitchen for a guy who worked for the Boston Federal Census. He did economic field surveys. He'd have 10 businesses he'd have to interview about this or that. He said it was easy, straightforward. He said he was one of 10 in his section. Him and another were pretty scrupulous. The other 8 went home, shopping and made stuff up. I asked how he knew because he would call buisness es about the others surveys and they never met anyone. Or he would go to another said surveyed business and it didnt exist.
I asked about his superior. He said all he cared is that everything was filled in and a few days early so that he would have exceptional performance.
He said as far as he knew his section was a joke and the 0.00 statistics were litterally false. But, it paid the mortgage.

The reason Jobseekers have risen is because the economy is so good it is pulling workers back into the labor force.

As if labor would do anything to improve the economy, if wages are decoupled from the rest of the economy. Don't look at prices, look at wages - and things suddenly look much more sinister.

Labor is no longer the measure of an economy, how well you can make up fake numbers and print the most fake money is.

france and germany need to end world war 2 right now, one of them needs to conquer europe once and for all bitches.

consider the u.s. has 50k troops in germany, and plenty of nuclear reactors in france waiting to have accidental meltdowns----it looks like the u.s. and germany can help make some major nuclear accidents happen in france. then we blame those accidents on terrorists or on mother nature. then we invade france slowly by creating a 'pan-euroepean' army sanctioned in brussels, but secretly just a decision by germany to invade france and loot it.

send half the loot to the u..s , the rest to germany PROBLEM SOLVED>

Just kind of prove that you don't need any boss, just like the belgians did nt need a govt and did quite well for 2 years.  many french workers take over companies or plants as cooperatives and it works out...they're their own bosses
