Third Banker, Former Fed Member, "Found Dead" Inside A Week
If the stock market were already crashing then it would be simple to blame the dismally sad rash of dead bankers in the last week on that - certainly that was reflected in 1929. However, for the third time in the last week, a senior financial executive has died in what appears to be a suicide. As Bloomberg reports, following the deaths of a JPMorgan senior manager (Tuesday) and a Deutsche Bank executive (Sunday), Russell Investments' Chief Economist (and former Fed economist) Mike Dueker was found dead at the side of a highway in Washington State. Police said the death appeared to be a suicide.
Mike Dueker, the chief economist at Russell Investments, was found dead at the side of a highway that leads to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington state, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. He was 50.
He may have jumped over a 4-foot (1.2-meter) fence before falling down a 40- to 50-foot embankment, Pierce County Detective Ed Troyer said yesterday. He said the death appeared to be a suicide.
Dueker was reported missing on Jan. 29, and a group of friends had been searching for him along with law enforcement. Troyer said Dueker was having problems at work, without elaborating.
Dueker was in good standing at Russell, said Jennifer Tice, a company spokeswoman. She declined to comment on Troyer’s statement about Dueker’s work issues.
But as Michael Snyder noted recently, if the stock market was already crashing, it would be easy to blame the suicides on that. The world certainly remembers what happened during the crash of 1929...
Historically, bankers have been stereotyped as the most likely to commit suicide. This has a lot to do with the famous 1929 stock market crash, which resulted in 1,616 banks failing and more than 20,000 businesses going bankrupt.
The number of bankers committing suicide directly after the crash is thought to have been only around 20, with another 100 people connected to the financial industry dying at their own hand within the year.
Dueker had also been a research economist at the St. Louis Fed:
He published dozens of research papers over the past two decades, many on monetary policy, according to the St. Louis Fed’s website, which ranks him among the top 5 percent of economists by number of works published. His most-cited work was a 1997 paper titled “Strengthening the case for the yield curve as a predictor of U.S. recessions,” published by the reserve bank while he was a researcher there.
So, with stocks a mere 4% off their highs, are so many high ranking and well respected bankers committing suicide?

I love reading the news of dead bankers in the morning. Gets my juices flowing.....
Made my day
Mine too. It's good to know that bankster vampire sociopaths aren't immortal after all.
When you look at all the crimes committed by these banks, Libor, London whale, Madoff, gold manipulation, and every other crime we don't even know about, and to top it off they just pay fines under Obama and his hood friends in DOJ...
How can anyone be surprised when we see mob hits on bankers? I'm sure they are ordered right from the top.
Is Jamie going to the funerals?
The Mob BTFAH and is now pissed!
Here's the problem. These people know better than anyone what they really are, it finally makes them feel like they should die. I've known people like this, who have attained large sums of wealth, not by skill but by cheating, and they suddenly one day shoot themselves or throw themselves off a building. We all know right from wrong, and being a cretin is not a happy existence.
Thats whats scary about sociopaths. When they make it to the top, they STILL don't feel empathy or remorse. But, they CAN fake it!
I too have known people who have attained large sums of wealth, not by skill but by cheating.
And they're loving every minute of it. THAT is what you call sociopathetic.
Absolutely correct on all points. Sociopaths are not only destructive, they are self-destructive. They live a life only to steal, cheat, lie and dominate everyone around them so they can be perceived as the top. By everyone, I mean everyone. Acquaintences, workers, friends, family, everyone is fair game to be fleeced. If successful, their malevant lifestyle is reinforced and becomes their MO for the rest of their life. They never change. They never learn, They just continue to consume. If their plans unravel, they do what they have always done, even though it has failed. They double down or go all in on the same destructive lifestyle. It's in their DNA. It's why so many end up self-destructing. They can't face the fact that they have failed and the world is about to know it. So they often escape accountability by suicide. All sociopaths really have a deep seated inferiority complex that they overcompensate for with their aggressive (often passive agressive) lifestyle to dominate everything and everyone. The consumate con man. Their fear of failure knows no limits, so their compensation to overcome this fear is off the charts. That is why they are so dangerous. No norms of society can control them. They plot continuously to avoid the norms of society so society will never find them out. It's really twisted circular logic that governs them. They are not pyscopaths. They know they live in reality, hence they know right from wrong. So don't feel sorry for them, anymore than you would for any common criminal.
That is the key, they are irrational in their drives but they are not insane. I have never read about any of them being reformed or cured.
You have pointed to the real origin of this try-to-make-it-look-plauible suicide. We are witnessing the spasms of the sociopath collective under stress. When things look shakey, you need to keep your cool and trust that others will do likewise. But trust is what they lack, both in themselves and their peers. So dear for their colleages, its off to the embankment. Or a roadside tree. Or a bath with a convenient toaster rack.
You are describing my brother-in-law to a tee. He killed himself late last year. He was worth 35 million, but in the end he felt alone and disconnected to everything and very very bad about himself. He shot himself through the head in the backyard of his beautiful milti-million dollar house. He left a note and in it was clear that he thought everyone would be happy he was gone, even though his wife was devastated.
Three down...hundreds to go.
In other news, a Kenyan banker no doubted related to some Nigerian bank, has proposed the latest ponzi scheme for US investors: myRA.
GOLF CLAPS!!!
Well played!
I'll drink to this today! Yeah!
Cruel bastard am I. Banksters kill themselves for their massive guilt from screwing the world? Yep.
Suicide my ass-he saw a dime on the other side of the rail...
Good post 4-Dictator. I agree, these people made money because Bernanke backstopped their trades with the power of a Central Bank. Really, how can you not make money???

Just part of the Keynesian conspiracy; this is what Keynes himself said about it:
"By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method, they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some. The sight of this arbitrary rearrangement of riches strikes not only at security, but at confidence in the equity of the existing distribution of wealth. Those to whom the system brings windfalls . . . become 'profiteers', who are the object of the hatred of the bourgeoisie, whom the inflationism has impoverished not less than the proletariat. As the inflation proceeds . . . all permanent relations between debtors and creditors, which form the ultimate foundation of capitalism, become so utterly disordered as to be almost meaningless." From pages 220-233 of The Economic Consequences of the Peace (1919), by John Maynard Keynes

It is unequestionably an act of war by a government against its citizens.

Other than being bankers, I wonder what the common thread is.
Hopefully they weren't potential whistleblowers.
cosmic kung-fu.

Just do it.
He must not have heard that consumer confidence beat expectations. If he had just held out one more day...
I have never seen so many posts with so many up arrows. What is that telling us?
What's it telling us you ask...that we're off to a good start.

Something wicked this way comes...
"When sorrows come, they come not as single spies, but in battalions."
Let us all hope this person's passing to be a sorrowful occasion...
What do you call three banker suicides in a week?
A good start.
.....but not a good week
Beat me to it.
he knew too much
It was all pseudo-scientific though.
TPTB have many of you right where they want you. The Banker is having "problems" at work but the Company's Representative saya that he wasn't.
Isn't that a "Red Flag" that might indicate that the Company offed him because he "knew too much" and was set to expose it?
So they poorly stage a suicide. The evidence is buried so that the fraud might continue.
And you all buy into the "Official Story", writing that you want ALL of these fuckers dead, with the result that the fraud can continue.
(Actually I want them investigated and prosecuted before they are actually NAILED TO CROSSES. Hangings and Beheadings by Guillotines are just too quick.)
TPTB plays you like a well tuned piano.
They've killed a lot of whistleblowers and you are so happy about it. There are no investigations.
The Narcissistic Psychopath does not kill themselves. They do not feel any guilt or remorse for anything that they have done.
If this man was criminal and guilt caused his actions then he was not a Narcissistic Psychopath.
My bet was that he was going to expose a fraud and his partners had him killed.
Of course Washington State Police are probably paid off and complicit. Corruption runs deeper than it did during the Great Depression.
These bankers, unfortunately, are not an endangered spieces.
Sure seems like something is up. No pun intended.
Bankers usually don't pick highway's as their final resting place, odd choice, was there two bullet holes to the back of the head by chance?
Will the coroner mysteriously die from arsenic poisoning too?
DELETING EVIDENCE !! GEEZ... REALITY ALWAYS BEATS FICTION
The weather is now making bankers commit suicide! Holy shit!
He assumed incorrectly that the government was about to revise down the previously measured distance from the bridge to the pavement.
But he forgot to do the necessary seasonal and hedonic adjustments and is paying the ultimate price.
Jumped.... Lol... yeah right.
Seems like an odd way to commit suicide.
Jump over a fence, and fall down an embankment - yeah, that should work!
edit: I wonder if he was trying to escape or evade something...
yes, this is a tried and true method, especially for the paper-cut crowd. They all know to jump a wall and roll down and embankment is certain death, quick and painless
AS........YOU............WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!
good one
Banker...meet embankment ?
Maybe he was finding a new place to bug-out under the bridge, in the dark tunnel, hidey hole ?
Maybe he just stopped for a pee and lost his footing?
He was notified to drive somewhere to meet someone. When he got into his car, there was someone in the back seat and they directed him to drive to the particular spot, held at gun point, whacked up side the head a few times, on the side of the road and then PUSHED. That is probably what happened. Earth is crawling with the graduates of The School of the Americas, For Assassins Only.

"It instructs them in techniques of marginalizing the poor, the hungry, and the dispossessed. It tells them how to stamp out freedom and terrorize their own citizens. It trains them to destroy the hope of democracy."
No shit right? Who makes the decision to end their life by humping over a fence and falling 40 feet? Sounds like a good way to break a leg at best.
Now if he fell down the embankment and died, then climbed back up and fell again...that would fit the recent narrative.
Maybe he was dead before he cleared the fence.
I just noticed my spelling error but looking at how ridiculous this is, I may be right that he in fact humped the fence first.
In my youth I was partying at a bonfire that was busted by the cops. We all took off running into the pitch black woods, and I humped a barbed wire fence.... That one left a mark.
Generally, when one is alive and jumping over a fence, one is fleeing.
I think it was a hit, body dumped.
I agree Rex.
Tacoma News Tribune story
The area is easy to observe on a satellite map.
I officially call shenanigans.
"Police do not believe the death was an accident or that Dueker was a victim of a crime, Troyer said."
Police were told the cause of death Wednesday.
Good thing the Keystone cops are on it. They got it covered. They're told what happened and that's all there's to it.
Official autopsy report shows that the impact energy of a single bullet to the back of the head is what caused the fall that killed him.
Pretty sure he would have attempted to shoot himself atleast twice. Just to be safe.
I'm visulizing a set of testicles hanging from a barb. Close ???
You have no idea how close you are. Fortunately there were no body parts lost.
Had an uncle that fell 15 feet into a brewing vat full of beer and died.
Witnesses said he got out 3 times to use the bathroom before he finally went under...
Many people tried to rescue him but he fought them off bravely.
odd: this one survives 3500 ft fall:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/god-caught-her-teenage-...
and a bankster dies "falling" 40 ft.
Lighter weight, higher surface area to volume ratio, greater skin friction, lower terminal velocity, plus the girl deserved to live...
To be fair, her neck wasn't broken first. It's hard to survive a fall with a broken neck, I mean, that's just biomechanics!
"edit: I wonder if he was trying to escape or evade something.."
I would say his conscience, but we all know that can't be. You're not allowed to have one and be a banker.
Well yeah, when you put it that way it starts to sound like a really stupid explanation. I don't think we were supposed to analyze the story that much, just accept the news as given and move on to the story about Justin Bieber.
He wanted to tell the Truth, couldn't handle it.
Not just the banking execs having a rough go of it... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-27/thai-police-say-evidence-sugges...
Keep it going guys. At this rate, I will be able to make something of my life! There will be no-one else left!
Well, this certainly ISN'T A TREND.
I've been plotting these suicides, and I clearly see a rising flying banker pattern.
Long body bags, scrub brushes, and spic n span.
you mean long KO
Long "Beware of falling Bankers" signs...
After an initial surge, the steep fall met heavy resistance which was followed by a dead cat bounce.
Just a coincidence, nothing to see here... Move along...

Short on dead bankers
Hmm, self inflicted knife wounds to the back?
next!
two tears in a bucket.....mother fuck it.......probably his last words
I guess the pain of knowing they fucked over 95% of mankind was too much to bear, and they are killing themselves.
Either that or there is foul play involved, but knowing the ethical circles in which bankers interact, that simply could never be the case.
Advice to Banksters; if called to the head office, be wary if they have you stand on a plastic drop cloth.
Foul play--we have already observed that people at top have no conscience whatsoever. They don't even realize their own anti-social behaviors and the effects that they have. Of course, maybe these were the underlings who could not quite aspire to those top roles.
job opening!
We need to revise the "roll the guillotines" saying. I think, "build another bridge," would be more appropriate.
I need to run down to walgreens to get my suicide vaccine.....this shits contagious.
(Assuming it was only a suicide) When a man realizes that his life has been wasted practicing necromancy and functioning as shill for despots, it's not uncommon for a man to take his own life. I'd just advise that, instead of suicide, that he don a white hat and fight the good fight.
These guys don't have the balls to commit suicide. They fake their own deaths and get caught in stiletto's, fishnet stockings and a shitty blonde wig trying to get over the border.
Why do I have a disturbing picture of Giuliani in my head...
Willem Defoe in Boondock Saints.
@fonz
If BernanQE tries that avenue, well, I don't think even WB7 could equal that lulzfest.
It doesn't take balls to knock yourself off when you're worthless and you know it.
Shades of T Cullen Davis, turned preacher.
LOL
Cursive: The phrase you are looking for is, "You can always take one with you."
One mans suicide is another mans job opening.
Jesus, this is terrible news. Can't the prez issue an executive order to make this type of thing illegal?
I'm sure these have all been great men and will be sorely missed.
Anyone have a link where I can send a donation to help out these poor, poor families?
Fuck it, I give up.

More Suicides / Less Bailouts
Rest in peace fuckstick.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as worms...
Jumped? Who gave him a boost?
The electric fence he climbed over
This is a clear sign that TSHTF is happening right now. Get your food supplies before the panic if you haven't already. If you haven't loaded up on alternative investments you're probably already lost.
Maybe some of them do have an conscience? Nah... forget it.
So his body was definately not dumped over a ravine by the side of the road. He went out there and rolled to his death. More lies are just what the bankers ordered. They killed a shitload of bankers in Weimar too.
Havenstein was assassinated
What do you call 500 bankers at the bottom of Lake Michigan?
A good start.
Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week, don't forget to try the veal.
Hey now, Lake Michigan is already under threat to be ruined forever by Asian Carp infestation...don't pollute the hell out of it so even they can't survive in it! Take those 500 to Yucca Mountain or something.
Ruined yes, but them carp sure are entertaining to ride a boat through.
Did this happen before or after the tragic "boating accidents" with all of the lost gold?
Well, we've ALL been deeply effected by The Bernank's departure... Some of us have just found coping mechanisms that allow us to carry on...
I never understand this mass banker killings ..can't they just quit and retire to being a Joe Schmoe the rest of their lives ???
If that dude told people he used to work for the Fed, he was probably marked right there. These dudes have no idea that EVERYONE KNOWS what the Fed is and what it has done thanks to the internet.
Burn baby burn!
Is this what happens when Faber says "short the Russell 2000?" Hope he says short JPM and GS next time.
It appears that three gentlemen knew too much. Probably sent emails that they were going to sing. Gosh, who would sniff their emails?
or talked on their cellphone or in proximity to someone cellphone. I
Maybe it's the lousy weather that did it
Must have been cold and dark.
Commendable. Lets hope this trend continues.
Dead men tell no tales.
I want to hear what they have to say. Let's hope a trend of exposing FRAUD begins.
Many frauds have been exposed and nothing will be done.
If police immediately rule a suicide, you can be sure that this assessment was a matter of "national security".
Yes, the only thing that adds speed to a bureaucracy is the intervention of the corrupt.
Week aint over yet. Many bank offices are open on Saturdays.
Long double-digit-jumpers before Sunday?

Good things don't come in 3s, they come in thousands.
Shouldn't they have put him in bag and set him on fire first?
As much as this pleases the ave ZH reader, it's most likely over for a while. Banksters always die in threes. Now butchers, that's a whole different kettle of eels.
Not even Obamacare saved him.
Maybe he didn't like his plan ?
What?.... no golden parachute?
The Milwaukee company that owns Russell Investments said Monday that a sale is being considered as one of the options for the Seattle financial services company's future. 1/27/13
Seems like someone was checking the books. He died on 1/29/13
I speculate that perhaps questions were being asked that he preferred to not answer. Easy way out, wife and family get to keep the ill gotten gains and his crimes, if he did indeed commit any, are just a blurble in history.
