"F**k The EU" - US State Department Blasts Europe; Revealed As Alleged Mastermind Behind Ukraine Unrest

Tyler Durden's picture

A leaked recording of a telephone conversation allegedly between US assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland and the US envoy to the Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt discussing who should be in Ukraine's next government has, according to The FT, threatened to fuel east-west tensions over the troubled nation's future. In apparent frustration with the EU – which has failed to join the US in threatening sanctions against Ukraine’s leaders if they violently crush the protests – the voice resembling Ms Nuland at one point exclaims "Fuck the EU". As the two US diplomats decide whether "Klitsch" or "Yats" should be 'in' or 'out', listeners will be reminded (uncomfortably) that the governments of Ukraine and Russia previously alleged that the protests are being funded and orchestrated by the US.

The authenticity of the recording has not been confirmed (though comparisons to Nuland's recent media appearances provide some confidence) - the FT reported that the US embassy in Kiev declined to comment, which is a tacit admission: if the clip was a fake, the US would immediately make it clear.

Needless to say, as the FT adds, "[this clip] could also bolster a propaganda campaign by the governments of Ukraine and Russia alleging that the protests that erupted against Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich last November are being funded and orchestrated by the US." Its release ahead of the day the Sochi Olympics start is also somewhat disturbing.

An excerpt on the US meddling...

“I think Yats [Yatsenyuk] is the guy who’s got the economic experience, the governing experience,” Nuland says. “What he needs is Klitsch [Klitschko] and [Oleh] Tyahnybok on the outside. He needs to be talking to them four times a week, you know. I just think Klitsch going in, he’s going to be at that level, working for Yatsenyuk, it’s just not going to work.”

Pyatt agrees.

“Let me work on Klitschko,” he can be heard saying, “and I think we should get a Western personality to come out here (to Ukraine) and midwife this thing.”

The controversial alleged Nuland "Fuck The EU" clip... (the discussion of the EU and UN involvement begins around 2:50)

And for comparison's sake - Nuland last month delivering a statement on the situation in Ukraine...

Via The FT,

...

In a clip posted on YouTube, voices resembling those of Victoria Nuland, a US assistant secretary of state, and Geoffrey Pyatt, ambassador to Ukraine, are heard talking by telephone about how to resolve the stand-off in Kiev after two months of anti-government protests.

In apparent frustration with the EU – which has failed to join the US in threatening sanctions against Ukraine’s leaders if they violently crush the protests – the voice resembling Ms Nuland at one point exclaims “F**k the EU”.

...

The two voices suggest Arseny Yatseniuk, the opposition leader and a former foreign minister, should be in a new government in Kiev. But Vitali Klitschko, a former heavyweight boxer and identified as “top dog” among opposition leaders, is also described as inexperienced and needing to “do his political homework”.

The voice resembling Ms Nuland refers to the two men as “Yats” and “Klitsch”.

...

It could also bolster a propaganda campaign by the governments of Ukraine and Russia alleging that the protests that erupted against Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich last November are being funded and orchestrated by the US.

As we warned previously, after the Olympics, Ukraine becomes a very hot spot indeed...

The Western powers represented by the EU and the US have nothing to stand on to protect Ukraine and can only offer lip-service at best. So once again, it appears that Ukraine is doomed and the best one can hope for there, is that Russia will allow the West to leave. The countdown goes forward and the political and economic crisis is indicative of what we see with the first shot across the bow in the rising trend of the Cycle of War.

Good thing that US and EU sorted out Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Egypt and Jemen, and made Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE beacons of democracy and human rights champions.

Seems more likely to be disgruntled NSA to me.

Even if this wasn't real, you already have a former presidential candidate telling the Ukrainian "protesters" that the USA is behind them. And it was widely published in western media. My guess is this is another move by Russia.  Taking a lesson from Wikileaks and Snowden, they took the results of their espionage public to drive another wedge between the U.S. and the EU.  What better way to undermine the U.S. position in Europe than to have Assistant U.S. Secretary of State on tape saying "fuck the EU" .  Well-played by Putin.

It gets better and they are getting ready to pull the same shit on Belarus next. Not only that the excuse is priceless.

http://www.nationalreview.com/article/370358/obamacare-security-nightmar...

The latest? U.S. intelligence agencies notified the Department of Health and Human Services last week that the HealthCare.gov infrastructure could be infected with malicious code.

...

Who’s responsible? Washington Free Beacon national-security reporter Bill Gertz writes that U.S. officials have “warned that programmers in Belarus, a former Soviet republic closely allied with Russia, were suspected” of possible sabotage. A government tech bureaucrat in the Belarusian regime bragged last summer on Russian radio that HHS is “one of our clients” and that “we are helping Obama complete his insurance reform.”

...

Then the Michelle Malkin muppet goes on to demonize Belarus like a good useful idiot she is.

So let's take a closer look at CGI but first a little reminder from one Edward Snowden.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_%28surveillance_program%29

PRISM is a clandestine mass electronic surveillance data mining program known to have been operated by the United States National Security Agency (NSA) since 2007

...

It goes back a little further than 2007....

And now back to CGI who programmed the healtcare.gov website. Ever wonder why they got a no bid contract and why the DHHS would choose a contractor outside the US who is not constrained by Constitutional limits on data collection.

Trip down the memory hole back to 2005

http://www.triple-tree.com/transactions/transaction_archive/silver-oak-s...

...

Silver Oak Solutions has successfully analyzed over $150 billion in spending and sourced $10 billion in spending delivering $2 billion in annual, cash savings (~ 20%). Through the development of its own proprietary Spend Management offerings called PRISM®

...

Yes it is that PRISM....

...

  • Spend Management is perhaps the largest, but most unknown ROI proposition in the entire technology, consulting, and outsourcing sectors with over $20 trillion spent worldwide on direct and indirect goods and services with every dollar cost reduction translating into significant bottom-line savings;
  • Government Spend Management is the single largest vertical industry with conservatively over $100 billion in annual savings potential to be gained by the public sector. This is perhaps one of the most appealing value propositions in this entire industry, where other cost savings alternatives include raising taxes, cutting government programs, or eliminating staff, which typically result in political confrontation;
  • Ability to leverage the Company’s resources, past successes, and PRISM® technology into the growing commercial sector with one of the single best ROI propositions;
  • Valuable point of entry for full-scale procurement Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) or other outsourcing arrangements including Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO), where other outsourcing firms have failed to gain a foothold;
  • Some of the most highly skilled strategic sourcing professionals and Spend Management experts with prior, senior-level positions held at Mitchell Madison, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, Deloitte Consulting, and Global 1000 companies including General Electric;

...

TripleTree led a strategic evaluation process that ultimately led to a “game-changing” industry move combining the strength of Silver Oak Solutions’ PRISM® spend analysis, strategic sourcing and compliance Spend Management expertise with CGI Group’s global footprint and outsourcing excellence. CGI Group, Inc. (NYSE:GIB) is the largest independent information technology and business process services firm in North America with approximately 25,000 professionals and an annualized revenue run rate currently at CDN $3.8 billion (U.S. $3.0 billion) at June 30, 2005. Silver Oak Solutions represents a key cornerstone for CGI Group’s global outsourcing and BPO ambitions.

...

I don't think it was Belarus that inserted malicious code into the healthcare.gov database. Does anyone in their right mind think the NSA would allow Belarus or any non ally anywhere near their honeypot or allow the key contractor to associate with them at all? Malkin is just a mouthpiece blowing bullshit and misdirection as a clueless useful idiot to keep people from focusing on the NSA and blaming Belarus instead. This is the 800lb gorilla in the concerning PRISM the media won't touch. It is more than a 'national security' objective when the NSA is backdooring all internal agencies procurement systems. It is downright illegal and serves no 'national security' objectives, I can think of what it does serve, being able to front run government contracts so preferred vendors can always win them by know what the lowest bid is for example.

and also as reminder

It's also vital now, to get control of Wikipedia, and then embed wikipedia as an accelerator or other "right click" reference look up in browers and OSeseses....

You have to stand in awe of how, for example, what was virtually certainly an intentional Israeli attack on a US ship with the hope of making it look like the Egyptians did it is made to seem "controversial".

All those survivors saying the planes were unmarked {the better to blame Egypt later} - why that's controversial! Some guy said that a Jewish guy cried when seeing the Star of David, as reported in the wholly trustworthy Chi Tribune!  See - it's not clear what happened!  It's controversial!  Plus, hint hint, it's kind of anti-Semitic to suggest Israel would ever do anything morally questionable anyway...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-liberty_tuesoct02,0,3...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Liberty_incident

Of course, while that article is used to dispute that the planes were unmarked, it sure leaves out some other information, e.g.

Their anger has been stoked by the declassification of government documents and the recollections of former military personnel, including some quoted in this article for the first time, which strengthen doubts about the U.S. National Security Agency's position that it never intercepted the communications of the attacking Israeli pilots -- communications, according to those who remember seeing them, that showed the Israelis knew they were attacking an American naval vessel.

Isn't selective sourcing wonderful!

If you believe a modern military can attack a naval vessel for over two hours and not know it wasn't an American versus Egyptian vessel, I suppose you'd believe just about anything.

Wikipedia's entry is an absolutely masterful exercise in bolstering negative evidence to overwhelm what a fair assessment of all the best evidence would tell you.

And this doesn't even get into the dozens of U.S. military officers w/ names who gave their account of what took place along with the "green light" given by McNamara and Johnson.

Wonder why Wikpedia won't link with youtube to provide context to the U.S.S. Liberty incident along with what happened with 9/11?

And another little tidbit from Malkin.

It’s not just the federal health-care system’s problem. Former Obamacare website contractor CGI still holds dozens of contracts with other federal agencies and state governments worth billions of dollars — and wide access to health and financial data. In my state of Colorado, for example, CGI has a $78 million contract to “modernize, host and manage” the state’s financial system. Have they checked to see whether Belarus (NSA) hackers are standing by?

...

And why would the NSA need to be backdooring state databases? Isn't that illegal because we sure as hell know they don't unwind PRISM capabilities depending upon the customer. It sure as fucking hell doesn't service and 'national security' interest and sure as fucking is not  foreign related in any way what so ever. That is purely domestic.....

Thu, 02/06/2014 - 20:03 | 4409806 Dewey Cheatum Howe
Dewey Cheatum Howe's picture

And if anyone thinks the NSA wouldn't give backdoored software to other US federal, state and local government agencies think again. They been doing this shit prior to the Patriot Act and 9/11.

Another trip down the memory hole concerning a piece of software called PROMIS.

https://web.archive.org/web/20001018124734/http://www.thestar.com/thesta...

OTTAWA - The RCMP is conducting a probe related to allegations that foreign spies used rigged software to hack into Canada's top secret intelligence files.

A Star investigation has found the probe revolves around stunning claims that computer software used by the Mounties and Canada's spy service to co-ordinate secret investigations was rigged with a ``trap door'' to allow American and Israeli agents to eavesdrop.

...

While Canada already shares a wealth of intelligence information with the U.S. and Israel, there are many elements of Canadian intelligence gathering that the government wouldn't be anxious to share with allies.

That could include economic intelligence on trading partners, detailed information on the whereabouts of terrorism suspects in Canada or strategic information on the positions Canada intends to take in international relations.

...

But sources close to the investigation say it revolves around Promis, a software program first developed to assist prosecutors in the United States Department of Justice. The case management software also has application for intelligence agencies keeping track of surveillance and investigation files.

...

Bill and Nancy Hamilton, owners of Washington-based Inslaw Inc., the company that developed Promis, caused a sensation when they alleged the U.S. government had stolen their software and pedalled pirated versions to intelligence agencies around the world.

A former Israeli spy also alleged the software had been fitted with an electronic trap door to allow American and Israeli agents to spy on those who used the software.

Funny how the U.S. Govt. wishes/forces other govts around the world to accept the opposition party into their arms while here in the good ole U.S. of A-holes, the opposition is beat down and pushed round, demonized, ridiculed, slandered, forced into hiding(spiritually anyway) and crushed in polarizing propaganda campaigns.  Take the Tea Party for example.

But Napoleon had this war fought by force-conscripted Prussians from defeated lands so don`t count on the EU to do anything more than spreading the anti-Ukraine
propaganda, they are not willing soldiers in this war.

Guess you can draw your own conclusions, but I think it's safe to say Ed Snowden (isn't alone) and is getting alot of support from both active and ex-NSA personnel.

once again, unto the brink we go...

(Reuters) - A senior Kremlin aide accused the United States on Thursday of arming Ukrainian "rebels" and, urging the Kiev government to put down what he called an attempted coup, warned Russia could intervene to maintain the security of its ex-Soviet neighbor.

Sergei Glazyev, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin with responsibility for relations with Ukraine, told a newspaper that U.S. "interference" breached the 1994 treaty under which Washington and Moscow jointly guaranteed Ukraine's security and sovereignty after Kiev gave up its Soviet-era nuclear arsenal.

His characteristically confrontational comments, on the eve of an expected meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich at the opening of the Sochi Winter Olympics, could add to tensions with Washington, and within Ukraine.

Asked by Kommersant-Ukraine daily whether Russia might "actively intervene" if the country's crisis deepened, Glazyev recalled the Budapest Memorandum of 1994: "Under the document, Russia and the USA are guarantors of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and ... are obliged to intervene when conflict situations of this nature arise.

"And what the Americans are getting up to now, unilaterally and crudely interfering in Ukraine's internal affairs, is a clear breach of that treaty. The agreement is for collective guarantees and collective action."

He did not specify what action Russia might take...

Syria, I think was a close call, we were maybe with in a few hours of a direct confrontation with Russia but, thankfully both sides were open to a compromise. this however is entirely different, this is right on the front door and with the added pressure and threat of the "NATO missile defense shield" looming over everything else...well, it's very easy to see how this whole thing could go sideways frighteningly fast.

the Ukraine is the worst possible country to have instability in right now and worse still is the fact that Moscow and DC seem to willing to take off the gloves in the fight for it's future.

keep a weather eye on this situation and hedge accordingly.

Now you guys understand the undercurrents of apparent convergent Western interests in its opposition to Putin.

Whereas the truth works according to the convoluted failed paradigm : when thieves fall out... EU, USA, Putin's Russia and... the Ukraine... like Syria, ... the dividing frontier between East and West.

But this divide in NOT ideological, its ECONOMICAL.

We saw Kerry about face France on Syria; and piss off Saud as well as Israel. Now facing a huge about turn in Pak/Afghan...trying to save the floundering ship and appearing---as the only voice-- who controls the West.

A NWO order it intiated.

What was written in the fine print THEN, in 1991, was : We are all equal as Oligarchs but the US stays PRINCEPS.

Consequence of the Bush OLigarchy's NWO and Davos model : Welcome all Oligarchs of the world, just control your STATE apparatus, make it subservient to our Oligarchy and WE WILL ALL BE ON THE SAME PAGE. Its win-win for all of us!  We saw how GWB incarnated that in Peking Olympics but Obammy won't follow suit in Sochi...

WHy? THe World has changed since 2008 debacle.

Putin and cohorts of China and BRIC will now challenge more and more THAT fine print dictat of GWB NWO which is stumbling and bumbling in debt tsunami. The RESERVE is now a leaking boat of fiat hegemony.

Meanwhile the US Pax Americana cabal bitches  against the EU, just like it bitched against De Gaulle during the Cold War.

Consequences ?

...Wait n see!

This game is never over; its just a repeat of past games.

"The military events of both World Wars have proved anew that the capitalistic countries are paramount also in armaments production... Where capitalistic entrepreneurship is allowed to function freely, the fighting forces will always be so well equipped that the biggest armies of the backward peoples will be no match for them. There has even been great exaggeration of the danger of making the formulas for manufacturing “secret” weapons universally known. If war comes again, the searching mind of the capitalistic world will always have a head start on the peoples who merely copy and imitate clumsily." - Ludwig von Mises, Human Action

Proboblem is, the US isn't as good at it as it used to be.  The reason is because the USA's intelligence agencies became politicized, and this has seriously erroded it's success in operations. Once moar, Bath House Barry's "administration" shows its utter incompetence and perfidy.

Apparently, there are no moar professionals at State, just AA hires and political fellow-travelers.

A friend in the know recently told me 40% of the employees there were AA hires with no experience. It shows, doesn't it? A group comprising about 12% of the US population accounts for 40% of the employee base.

Also, related, last night, Bath House illegally signed an order allowing terrorist associates (supposedly "reformed") to immigrate to the US. European immigrants (Caucasians) are at the back of the bus. Bath House is leaving no stone unturned to vastly increase what is becoming a flood of muslim immigrants with little or no BG checks.

Wonderful. I suppose the next "stimulus program" will "stimulate" mosk-building.
