4th Financial Services Executive Found Dead; "From Self-Inflicted Nail-Gun Wounds"

Tyler Durden's picture

The ugly rash of financial services executive suicides appears to have spread once again. Following the jumping deaths of 2 London bankers and a former-Fed economist in the US, The Denver Post reports Richard Talley, founder and CEO of American Title, was found dead in his home from self-inflicted wounds - from a nail-gun. Talley's company was under investigation from insurance regulators.

Via The Denver Post,

Richard Talley, 57, and the company he founded in 2001 were under investigation by state insurance regulators at the time of his death late Tuesday, an agency spokesman confirmed Thursday.

It was unclear how long the investigation had been ongoing or its primary focus.

A coroner's spokeswoman Thursday said Talley was found in his garage by a family member who called authorities. They said Talley died from seven or eight self-inflicted wounds from a nail gun fired into his torso and head.

Also unclear is whether Talley's suicide was related to the investigation by the Colorado Division of Insurance, which regulates title companies.

...

A checkered past?

Before coming to Colorado, Talley was a former regional financial officer at Drexel Burnham Lambert in Chicago, where he met his wife, Cheryl, a vice president at the company. The two married in 1989.

Talley had formed a number of companies, some now defunct, according to the Colorado secretary of state's office. Among them: American Escrow, Clear Title, Clear Creek Financial Holdings, Swift Basin, Sumar, American Real Estate Services, and the American Alliance of Real Estate Professionals.

It would appear, unfortunately, that Mr. Talley was not an entirely honest man...

Talley's 1989 wedding announcement in the Chicago Tribune noted he was "a member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic swimming team."

A spokeswoman for USA Swimming on Thursday said Talley was not on the team.

They make gas powered nail guns these days. No need for a compressor as the gun is filled with a flamable gas which is ignited via battery power. It is the most popular nail gun for suicides as it requires little set up time.

It's probabaly somewhat ironic that the latest "suicide" of a bankster has taken a ton of heat off of the Wicked Witch, Blythe Masters, and her EPIC crash and burn from the CFTC after yesterday's announcement.

I still posit that it was most definitley the lovable reaction from us ZH'ers that caused Blythe the loss of a such an obscure job position which most likely 99.9% of the American people have absolutely no fucking clue about.

Most Americans don't even know who Blythe Masters is!!!  Yet, the announcement and violent reaction of her going to the CFTC was so monumentally explosive that she actually caved in and bowed out!

Think about that...that is pretty EPIC, whether it was ZH or Twitter that caused the backlash.

But, hey Blythe...since we all know you're reading...just think of your other options after reading the posts on this particular "suicide" forum:  You could very well be the next one.  Do you confess?  Or do you run away somewhere in the world and hide?

Your crimes are legend...

The Great Chase WAMU $300 Billion Caper? Posted on  by Neil Garfield

Hiding in plain sight, Chase may indeed have taken control of the portfolio loans of Washington Mutual. The FDIC receiver clearly stated to me that there was no assignment of mortgages. He also said that he thought Washington Mutual was servicing about $1 Trillion in loans originated by WAMU or its originators (pretender lenders). And he said that it was estimated by him and the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee that about 1/3 of those loans were portfolio loans — I.e. Real loans paid for by WAMU. And of course, as previously reported here and elsewhere we now know that Chase acquired no loans as part of the merger with WAMU.

So the question is “What happened to the $300 Billion in loans that were real assets of WAMU?” Nobody has really asked and obviously no answer has been forthcoming — especially not from Chase who was going around the country foreclosing on loans that it said it acquired “by merger” from WAMU.

Here is my theory: the loans are technically in the WAMU “estate” from the Bankruptcy proceedings. The U.S. trustee disclaimed any interest in some WAMU subsidiaries that probably have an interest in those loans. Those subsidiaries still exist. why? Meanwhile, Chase DID acquire the servicing rights of WAMU.

As the Servicer it receives payments from Borrowers who have no idea about the status of their loan. If Chase receives a payment on a loan that is subject to claims of securitization, we assume that it makes payments to the trust beneficiaries of the REMIC trust claimed to own the loan. That is a whole other subject for forensic auditing. Our focus for today is what does Chase do with payments on loans that are still WAMU loans. I theorize that one likely possibility is that Chase keeps the money because there is nobody claiming a right to receive the payments now that the WAMU Bank has ceased to exist. That would give them an income of around $20 Billion+ per year on loans that WAMU funded and Chase never bought. But that is the tip of the iceberg.

The loans kept as WAMU portfolio loans were probably subject to underwriting that was more in line with industry standards and probably had a much lower default rate than the loans that investors funded. So those loans had a definite value on the secondary market. Hence I postulate that Chase as authorized Servicer is acting as the owner. Without anyone making a claim, they have nobody to pay. So if they sold the WAMU portfolio loans as successor Servicer for WAMU loans, the proceeds of sale went to Chase and Chase then created numerous such transactions wherein they “sold” the mortgages they didn’t own.

The sale proceeds are completely controlled by Chase. They no doubt did sell most of the loans by now and many of them were probably “assigned” to new REMIC trusts. Thus Chase, based upon estimates from those close to the WAMU estate and the Chase WAMU merger, generated more than $300 Billion in sales of loans it never owned or paid for, plus principal and interest payments received on those loans, probably totaling around $400 Billion between the merger and now. No wonder they are so eager to pay fines measured in the tens of billions, when they illegally obtained loans worth in the hundreds of Billions of dollars.

Who is the injured party? It would appear that the Bankruptcy Estate of WAMU, or the Trustee for the estate, is the injured party. They should have the $400 Billion. Why this was not apparent to the U.S. Trustee and the FDIC receiver I don’t know. But isn’t it peculiar that there is a $400 Billion hole in the deal that went entirely to Chase?

Of course this is conjecture not even an opinion, so far. I could be wrong. But in the chaos of the overnight mergers, it seems more likely that Chase found every way available to grab more money.

suicided; when someone is murdered and then arranged in such a way to make the death seem like a suicide. the victim may also be forced to take his own life so that the real culprit leaves little to no evidence of wrongdoing. authorities rule the cause of death to be a plain old suicide which often means that no investigation is preformed.

I don't think anyone actually believes these are suicides. Possibilities:

1. Silencing those who could testify against someone powerful

2. Retaliation for the previous acts of terror

3. Obama's private campaign

4. A change of tactics, after attacking random public targets and getting no outrage ... just disbelief in the narrative

I think that there is disbelief here too. If there is a war going on out of view of the public, then we are pretty oblivious as to what they are fighting over.

Yeah, I just watched a documentary about ancient Rome, Emperor Nero did the same thing, told rich families their father could commit suicide and leave half their estate to Nero (for his crazy building projects), or Nero would declare the whole family to be "enemies of the State", kill them all and take all their wealth. Most took the suicide.

An offer they couldn't refuse.

You apparently have never pruned a rose bush.  The penetrating pain of several sequential impacts with the thorn of a rose would be mind numbing.

Testimony, turning state's evidence, communiques which revealed disloyality, a book deal, a number of  reasons this man would be turned on in this new world chaos, brought to us by the very same people who will be the only ones who can save us if their plans works.

These are dangerous people and it's time for someone to address the obvious.  If whistle blowers are being targeted, as they attempt to reveal corruption (money going in the wrong direction), a fund should be set up and these people allowed to go underground because they are worth much more alive.  The world leaders have definitely lost their minds.

Secondly, he once had a company named "Swift Basin?"  Who the sam hell would name their company after a toilet maneuver?

Eric Sprott: The U.S. Gold Is Gone MUX, TNR.v, GDX, GLD, SLV, RGLD, ABX, GG

We continue our investigation of the Gold Manipulation. Last Friday Gold spiked well above $1270 on the huge miss in Jobs Report, but markets have found the good meaning of bad news again and Gold was trading down to unchanged in the midday. Interestingly enough Gold has closed just below crucial $1270 by the end of the day even with general markets in the rally mood again. Eric Sprott addresses this ongoing manipulation in his interview and provides his outlook on the things to come in Gold and Silver markets.

So the Tribunal has now declared that even the lowly regional 'title insurer' is to be awarded the death penalty, and his demise should elicit both humor and joy.  Surely were it not for this obscure title insurer and his dastardly acts, we'd have full employment, no national debt, a booming economy, no cronyism, no bailouts, and a gold standard.

The decline of this website is in full display in the comments here in the total lack of compassion for an obviously troubled soul.  Jamie and Lloyd have nothing in terms of immorality and vileness over the Zerohedge crowd.  Perhaps the great wheel of karma will turn and outsiders will find both humor and joy in the demise of now coldly smug ZH posters, their children, and their loved ones.  Karma is, as they say, a fatherless daughter.

No tears for the wicked.  No respect for the pandering.

It's people like you who make rational people think Lloyd and Jamie are the lesser of two evils.  Of course we can all take comfort in the fact that those of your ilk will never amount to anything, so we can sit patiently until the universe does its own culling and the blight is forever erased from existence.

Yes, first step is to de-humanize and lump all together. Second step round them up. Then "the final solution" is...

Everyone holds disdain for bankers, although I don't think this person qualifies as a banker, until you need a loan. Then we temporarily suspend our angst until the process is complete. But when you start to de-humanize them, it's hard not to see the logical next step. And some of you would clearly be fine with rounding a group of people up.

The fact is that, whether this was truly suicide (yeah, right) or murder, this guy was dirty and it's highly unlikely that you'll find any compasion for a dirt-bag banker on ZH. If that upsets you then you should probably choose another websites to peruse.

If you do truly feel compasion for this wanker, then good on you. You have a greater capacity to love than I (and probably most other ZH'ers). The problem is that, as soon as you declare your compassion and simultaneously make a judgement about other people's lack of compassion (and make a statement declaring that), then you've become sanctimonious and you fall from the path to God. Spirituality is a razor's edge and it doesn't take much to fall from the path.

But don't worry about it. Do your best and, in the mean time, it's ok to sit back and enjoy the show. It's ok to find a little pleasure in seeing banker/finance dirt bags coming to justice. If, instead, you feel compassion, that's ok too.The real stretch is to find compassion for those of us that enjoy banker "suicides," rather than show your disdain. To paraphrase ... we know not what we do.

Don't take any of it too seriously. It takes many life times but, eventually, we all come to God. For banksters, it's a much longer path.

If he was just a troubled soul as you say, then he should have repented and faced accountibility for his actions, whether it be personal or criminal accountability. Instead, if it was suicide, he chose the cowards way out to specifically avoid accountability. If it was murder, then he was most likely involved in criminal activity. Therefore he is not honorable or righteous. As for compassion, Jesus did not exhibit any compassion when he drove the money changers from the temple. But that WAS righteous anger. As for Karma, it does cut both ways. Perhaps you don't realize that maybe the Karma wheel is now turning to grind the Corzines, Blankfeins, and Jamies of the world for their actions that they have inflicted on others and until this time avoided personal accountability and justice for. The thief on the cross repented and received salvation, but he was not spared justice... justice that even he recognized was appropriate. Instead of calling out ZH posters, perhaps you should ask Jaime, Lloyd, and Corzine if they think they should be held personally accountable for crimes done by their companies that they oversaw and for which their companies were fined. Their response will tell you all you need to know about their soul, and whether it is troubled or not. Like you say... "No tears for the wicked. No respect for the pandering."
