"Dear John, It's Over!" - Tea Party Group Launches "Replace Boehner" Petition

Tyler Durden's picture

Having folded (twice) once again, a growing number of Republicans are increasingly disavowed with Speaker Boehner. As WaPo reports, the Senate Conservatives Fund (a Tea Party group) is calling for the Speaker's job, noting "unless we install a new leader who will actually go on offense, Democrats will never fear us and we will never have any leverage." The group is launching a petition that seeks to encourage at least 15 House Republicans to refuse to support Boehner for speaker...

Partial text of the e-mail (via Washington Post):

Republicans are giving up because they know that winning is impossible when their leaders are determined to lose. These leaders have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage. There's only one solution.

John Boehner must be replaced as Speaker of the House.

Conservatives helped Republicans win a majority in the House of Representatives, which made it possible for John Boehner to become Speaker. Unfortunately, he has chosen to ignore us and help President Obama enact his liberal agenda.

...

Unless we install a new leader who will actually go on offense, Democrats will never fear us and we will never have any leverage.

The group is launching a petition that seeks to encourage at least 15 House Republicans to refuse to support Boehner for speaker -- a move that would deprive him of a majority of the House and shake up the process.

Should have done this a year ago when the debt ceiling was an actual thing. And the threat instead of "remove Boehner" should have been "appoint Pelosi, demand the chairs of both the ways and means and the justice committees." Then you as the Tea Party hold all the chips. Democrats will keep voting Pelosi in, and you can always get her to do what you want if you threaten to pull support. The swing vote is the only vote that actually counts.

But the again, there is no "Tea Party". It's just a marketing term for a loosely associated group of as yet to be disenfranchised conservatives.

How about we throw away the fiat, Two-Sided and Controlled Coin (Dems vs Repubs)?

Time for a 3 or Multi-Party System in the US.  Or for more regional control, the way the Swiss have more Direct Democracy at their Canton (County/Province) level.

Getting rid of Boner now only strengthens the hand for the 2014 mid-term elections for the Dems.  Need to solve both challenges at the same time:  Get rid of Boner, w/o losing the Mid-Terms. THEN think about turning the Dem-GOP apple cart upside down, and push for a mult-party system (in time for 2016).

Well....   The top 10% who won the government and the corporations and nominate the candidates wouldn't benefit from that.

The US has always been run for the benefit of the nobility class,  probably most societies are.

In reality,  how many people want the trash-class in the bottom 70% actually deciding how the "risker takers" do things.    That would just be communism.

I realize John is in a no-win situation but the fact that he spends more time going after the Tea Party members of his own fucking party than he spends going after Democrats is why he must go as speaker. There's plenty of shit he could be doing to make life difficult for the dems but he spends that time instead rousting the more conservative members of his own damn party.

The system is designed to assimilate opposition. It is not set up to serve it.

As long as you remain acting like idiots and keep thinking that you're going to invoke change via either of these parties, then the longer you, and much more importantly I, remain serfs to the system.

Knock it off. Republicans and Democrats are NOT WORTH TALKING ABOUT.

Maybe we should then just continue with your idea which hasn't worked for well over a hundred years.

Why do you even bother? Does it soothe your conscious by tricking you into believing that you're actually doing something? Or making one iota of difference?

Grow a pair and stop sucking on the teat of this machine, begging for bread and then being satisfied with crumbs. It's unbecoming and unmanly to say the least.

I was a an active member of the original one. My first event was an End the Fed rally.

Then the republican faithful showed up and painted everything to the right Pinochet as socialist.

The End the Fed rallies became protests against everything from "socialized medicine" (it's NOT socialized) to wanting to punch protesters of Abu Gharib and Gito.

You knew they were Republicans because they were loud, obnoxious, didn't know one damn solid fact about one issue, and had a general tendency to defecate all over everything, and pick their noses, in public at that.

Faux Funds.gov.  That is what our FRN's should be called.  That green linen paper with a bunch of numbers is just that.  Our nation is being bled out and there may come a day when those pieces of paper will buy nothing.  Until that day get to know your neighbors.  Learn a trade that fixes or produces something you can barter.  Become aware of your neighborhood changes.  The bankers never lose.  I have not seen that in the directions to the Monopoly game I play with the grandkids but it is true.  Hope and Change has become dictator and deranged.  Dog pictures from the White House?  Our House.  Not their house.  Our country not their playground.  Let em eat EBT cards huh?  Maybe for a while more.  Every day do something that will change your future for the better. We are well past the point where an election will fix what is wrong with this country.

Boehner should have resigned the speakership after the 2010 elections. However, being the elite jerk that he is decided the mandate the tea party republicans received from the voters was not going to deter his progressive behavioral power trip. It's a sad state of affairs when a system of shared powers of equal branches of government and adversarial parties gets so far off track like we are today. Obama simply has usurped the power that Congress use to hold and as a result we no longer have adversarial form of government. That's why most can't differentiate a Republican from a Democrat. This has been apparent for quite some time. The only thing that is adversarial is those in power vs the rest of us.

This effort to replace Boo-yer is about as infantile as Karl Dennenger's petition effort he was advocating several years ago. When is the Tea Party people going to get it: IT ISN'T JUST TIME TO THROW IN THE TOWEL ON THE HOUSE SPEAKER, IT IS TIME TO THROW IN THE TOWEL ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! They need to abandon that bad joke known as the republican party, and get behind libertarian candidates. The way Ron Paul was treated by his own party was disgraceful. They wouldn't allow him on ballots, and when that didn't work, they didn't count his votes. Finally, they got rid of him alltogether through redistricting. The RP is now dominated by Boo-yer, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and neo-cons. Time to sweep them all into the trash bin of history.
