Despite "Absolute Calm" Claim, Venezuela Appears Just A Little Out Of Control

Tyler Durden's picture

President Maduro and his ministers have stated (fully supported by Argentina):

  • *PEOPLE BEHIND YESTERDAY'S VIOLENCE WILL BE PUNISHED: ORTEGA
  • *VENEZUELA ISSUED ARREST ORDER FOR LEOPOLDO LOPEZ: VOLUNTAD
  • *VENEZUELA IN ABSOLUTE CALM, ORTEGA SAYS
  • *ARGENTINA SAYS IT FIRMLY SUPPORTS VENEZUELA'S GOVERNMENT

However, between armed groups reportedly firing shots (see clip below) into the Students Assembly and the disappearance of the protest leader, the protests appear to be anything but "calm."

Stunning collage of clips from the last two days...

This proves that people will put up with all kinds of shit as long as they have unfettered access to toilet paper.

Bullish Che Guevara TShirts.

Give me toilet paper or give me death !

My only regret is I have but one life to wipe.

Brasil 2014 - World Cup...i would stay away from there and that whole area.

.

Even the logo for Brasil14 looks like a weeping head with hands covering a face...

What a horrendous logo.  Compare that to the Mexico '86 World Cup Logo -- El mundo unido por un balon:

and the cute '86 mascot "Pique":

Wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt in a protest against the Venezuelan government would be somewhat ironic, don't you think?

Grande Tetons's picture

About as ironic as our current Hope and Change dogma.

Che..for better of for worse....is a symbol for revolution....and, yes...the irony was not lost on me.

It is all about marketing!

It looks like we are on a cusp of financial meltdown and we are seeing the first of it live on television.

I wonder what goes through those coward minds that work for these tyrants and shoot at their own people. Can you fall lower?

they are trained not to think.  Kubrick's 'full metal jacket' illustrated the effect (of training and indoctrination) better than any other movie i have seen.

DaddyO, watched the youtube video. I think the last 15 seconds somes up the emotion that many of us feel. Moreover, the last 15 seconds could be applied to almost all nations at this point.  I think our greatest weapon is our passion to restore. It is an American passion as much as it is a human/global passion.

DaddyO's picture

Isn't it about that still small voice crying out inside for freedom?

GT uses the word passion to great effect and it rings true in my ears!

Brandon Smith has this article up on his website and it is quite consistent with a common idea being put forth by many here on ZH.

Where the tipping point falls in the USA remains anyone's guess...

Look at the men in that picture in the article - they are middle-aged, overweight, and look dumb as bricks. If this is the publicly admitted training exercise of a squad that barely matters, you don't have to extrapolate much to figure what the real smart, stealthy individuals are being trained for.

Species traitors, every last one of them.

Grande Tetons's picture

Hey, Skate...things in Latin America work a little differently. These rolly polly halfwits actually do some good.

You can downvote me for posting the huffpost link.  It was timely...was the reason for the link.

I was talking about how the ONG loooked. I heard the story of the farmers of Michoacán, Grande Tetons - it's been going around for a little while now. They are heroes, in the correct usage of the word.

Grande Tetons's picture

Same page, Skate. I hereby kick myself in the ass.

TBT or not TBT's picture

Well daddyO, bad scenarios for police state drills or episodes of 24 MUST designate a whitey sort of antigovernment plot, or at least whiteys pulling the strings of duped faux baddies of some given designated oppressed identiity group Because it would not be PC to caricature a non whitey group as fundamentally bad Also, some groups like to cut the heads off of people who merely insult them a little bit.

Frankly, none of this matters.  Only Venezuela oil matters, which btw is over $100 STILL.

South American Spring when all the socialist get run the hell out of every country.

jmp esp's picture

And then one of two things will likely happen:

  1. The US will (most likely covertly) intervene in order to instill a puppet government or
  2. a new socialist elite will rise from the ashes, promising even more free shit.

Free shit, but no TP....alas....

When will Spring arrive in North America do you think?

They appear to be primarily "misguided youths".

walküre's picture

Doesn't seem organized well enough. Same as everywhere else. Unless a strong alternative leadership emerges and stands upfront, well armed and respected against the current regimes, this is not going anywhere. Sorry, just anger and frustration on the run aren't enough. The youth needs to be molded by older spirited revolutionaries. Guidance from their parent's generation is much needed.

Skateboarder's picture

Their parents drank the koolaid. Grandparents are where they need to go, and they're about to kick the bucket.

DaddyO's picture

And the sad, almost mystifying fact is that the parents continue to embrace socialism.

I've given it quite a bit of thought and would put forth the notion that here in the states, the Boomers want to make sure they continue to get theirs.

The best way to do this is at the end of the .gov gun barrel.

DaddyO

"strong alternative leadership" = drone strike.... just sayin'....

oh I'm sure with all this internet stuff they'll figure it out.

astoriajoe's picture

uhh, exactly how many bullets have the various domestic agencies of the U.S. Federal Government purchased in the last two years?

but more importantly, how much did they save by buying in bulk?

NoWayJose's picture

Equally interesting - how many of those "Homeland Security" bullets are now being fired by Al-Qaeda rebels in Syria....

astoriajoe's picture

I'm a bit more worried about the post office bullets. That guy comes to my place daily.
