Ron Paul Launches Clemency Petition For Edward Snowden

Tyler Durden's picture

Former Congressman Ron Paul has launched a petition to attempt to garner clemency for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. The "Demand Clemency for Edward Snowden" petition includes the clip below, Paul calls on supporters to sign the petition in an attempt to bring Snowden home to the US safely before his temporary visa in Russia expires in July.

On the heels of his son Rand Paul's lawsuit against the Obama nd the NSA seeking to stop its collection of phone metadata, Ron Paul states "Edward Snowden shocked the world when he exposed the NSA’s illegal and abusive spying program. Instead of applauding him for his bravery and patriotism, the U.S. government labels Snowden a traitor."

By signing this petition, Paul notes on his Channel's website, "you are telling the US government that Mr. Snowden deserves the right to come home without the fear of persecution or imprisonment."

you are on zh, you are already moved to the front of the line.

for what its worth (probably not much) i just signed it.

Signing a petition gets things done, eh? Funny, I thought people signed one to End the Fed.

For those who don't know, Dr. Paul is the only person in his family who isn't in the Masonic Order. That's how he maintains plausible deniability for being a gatekeeper. He's been at this for 3 decades. If people "in the know" are still relying on him we really are screwed.

Does nobody remember HR 1207 being gutted after all those money bawms? Dude is exploiting your hopes and dreams America. Grow a pair and do something for yourselves.

3 downvotes for my post, yet zero replies. Quantify it if you can trolls.

Spastica Rex's picture

I don't know, Jack. I didn't down vote you and I did sign the petition. On the other hand, I really don't believe in anything anymore, least of which being heroes or saviours. Epistemological crises everywhere.

Dr. Paul has delivered 4,000 babies.  He has also seen a lot of pussies who were afraid to take action.

Ron Paul is most close as USSA has for hero. Surprise Mr. Ron Paul is still live.

Careful with that one.

I think Snowden is CIA.  He was an officer in the CIA and then went to Booze Allen which might as well be an offshoot of the CIA itself.  Once you go CIA you are there for life.  And you certainly don't turn against them.  It would be suicide, with no where to hide.

He began attacking the NSA right after the whole Bengazi thing exploded.

He's a limited hang out that is attacking the one agency (NSA) that most likely could have outed the whole illegal Arab Spring Fiction.  His purpose is to put pressure on the NSA and put them on the defensive as a big warning.  And it worked.

Also the CIA and the FSB (formerly the KGB) work together all the time now.  After Russia collapsed a special covert CIA related fund was set up to buy up the assets (on the cheap) from corrupt state officials.

They own the joint.  Bought and paid for.

If Snowden were a real national security threat he would have been neutralized by now.

Simple as that.

You've done your homework.  Much of what you said carries some weight, but I'll part company on the ever so cozy relationship idea between CIA and FSB.

To some extent they are always engaged to one another for information, but I don't buy for one minute that they are "on the same team".

Having said that, what I wouldn't give to have Vlad make a very public statement about who did 9/11 (which he certainly could) given his knowledge on the subject.  Something tells me many things will be "on the table", if the U.S. keeps screwing with Russia on it's 50 year old business partner in Syria and it's centuries old neighbor that the likes of Pyatt and Nuland seem hell bent to fuck with.

That's fair.  This is after all, pure speculation in my part.  Though only after having learned a thing or two about how the world really works.

For further info. on the above for anyone who is interested, feel free to read the following:

My advice would be to print both out and save them to your drive.   It's heavy reading but well worth it.

Ya, snowden is a fucking hero, and the paulbots are on the trail, sign that doc dudes!!! LOL, fucking morons.  That idiot gave away more national secrets than all the traitors combinded - worship him zero heads, you idiots!

I wonder how many people have been exposed overseas due to his recklessness, we already knew about NSA, what has he really given us, proof?  ROFLMAO, the NSA has been spying on us for DECADES! Morons!

TheFourthStooge-ing's picture

Looks like Abi has gone off his meds again.

Abi Normal's picture

Puleeze, spare me the moronic witt you moron!  You idiots have no idea the damage he could have done to our country, and yet you priase him...ugh!

Abi Normal's picture

Yep, you experts are sooooo savvy! Just junk, is all it is, worthless, unadulterated junk.

Puleeze, spare me the moronic witt you moron!

Heh, Abi does seem to have quite a surplus of it already.

Abi Normal's picture

still in your mama's basement, cant find a job?  let me repeat so you get it:

Hey pudgy stooge, following me around like some lost puppy, you idiots talk about red pill blue pill and you take niether...lemme give you a heads up fluffy, you better pick a side and soon, cocksmoker!

Abi Normal's picture

LOL, no again you are wrong, you pay for ISP service, so it ain't free, you even pay taxes to be on the net.  See how easy it is to show how wrong you cobbleheads are?

Got any more gems for me fluffy?

nmewn's picture

Yes, it is pure speculation on your part and laying aside the illegal, unjust and the outright Fourth Amendment unconstitutionality of it all...

For one thing, Snowden didn't recieve money (or in kind renumeration) from any foreign power for his actions. He's in Russia because the US revoked his passport to fuck with him, he had to stay in a Russian airport for how long because of US intrigue?

Hardly CIA.

For another thing (for my "right wing" friends out there, what does it say about about your comfort level that EVERYONES personal data being "secure" in a .gov database that can be breached so easily, copied and released by a high school dropout under their very noses?

Think ObamaCare now...and Snowden.

Abi Normal's picture

Everyone is speculating, yet everyone is an expert, LOL!  I guess you all were there to see and hear everything. How do you know he got no money, cause he said so?  ROFLMAO...all you experts are so far in left field it is not even funny, wankers!

nmewn's picture

I don't often fuck around with weirdos but when I do...I prefer abinormal ones.

Stay retarded my friend.

Abi Normal's picture

Awww, struck a nerve did I, you and your anarchist, liberal-tarian friends can't stand to be corrected or told something new...and that is your all think you're so right about everything.  Well, you aren't right about everything, matter of fact you idiots are wrong about most of the BS you post.

Jam it, peanutbutter!

TheMeatTrapper's picture

Snowden was never a CIA officer. He was a contractor. Big fucking difference.

Oh, and by the way, as far as the "CIA for life" thing - you have NO idea what you are talking about. None whatsoever.

The CIA has Officers, it has security guards, it has secretaries, it has recruiters, it has cafeteria cooks and it has janitors that work for it.

Grow the fuck up.

Thought Processor's picture

Google Harder.

"A Reuters report stated that from 2005 to mid-2006 he worked for a classified intelligence agency in Washington, DC.[58] He joined the CIA in 2006.[59] In May 2006 Snowden wrote in Ars Technica that he had no trouble getting work because he was a "computer wizard". In August he wrote about a possible path in government service, perhaps involving China, but said it "just doesn't seem like as much 'fun' as some of the other places".[53]

In 2007, the CIA stationed Snowden with diplomatic cover in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was responsible for maintaining computer network security.[60]Snowden described his CIA experience in Geneva as "formative"."

"Surprise Mr. Ron Paul is still live."

Fact begs question why.

Abi Normal's picture

Because maybe he was a useless politician?  Brilliant man, a quite bit nieve about the world, but smart as hell, finances are his thing, doctoring is his thing, but not politics and spying...nice try though!

Trolls don't have anything other than an emotional fat finger.

I lean your way over his performance. I'm no expert on the Mr. Paul's long term history other than he being the guy dubbed Dr. No.

What, after 30 years tramping the halls of that shop of horrors he hadn't formed any meaningful alliances? If that is true then there are only two explanations for it; There aren't "A Few Good Men" in that shit bowl or he wasn't really trying. Yeah, yeah, the press and his own son happened to him but why didn't he rally us at Tampa when he had the chance? "Oh, no. Let's all be nice, now. We don't want to create any waves for the GOP at the national convention, which might embarrass the party, do we?".

Overfed's picture

I'll go with the lack of good men in the shitbowl known as Congress. I know I sure can't name any.  Dr. Paul was probably the last good man to ever grace the halls of Congress. In other words; we're fucked.

Mercuryquicksilver's picture

I ASSumed that Sr. Paul played nice at convention to earn points for Jr. Paul.

Overfed's picture

If that were the case, one would think that Sr. Paul would have gone ahead and endorsed Ro-money. Which is something he flatly he refused to do. I will agree that  it would be nice if the good Dr. would slap a little sense into his kid.

Al Gorerhythm's picture

He had his chance. There was a disposals bucket in the delivery room.

whatthecurtains's picture

Anyone that starts with the Masonic order drivel doesn't really deserve a reply do they?    Perhaps you'd like to amend your post and name the good Dr. Paul a leader if the Illuminati or better yet he is one of the Foucault's Pendulum gang of three?

Al Gorerhythm's picture

No secret society clubby conspiracies here. Move along, now. Wink, wink; nudge, nudge. Let's shake on our new relationship.

john39's picture

Kennedy warned about secret societies for a very good reason.

kito's picture

i know some masons, they certainly arent free. they charge a small fortune these days. its hard to find a qualified one, especially to build a masonry heating system. why do you dislike masons, especially ones that dont charge you?

Mercuryquicksilver's picture

I agree with you philosphically. Until people leave the comfort of their keyboard and hit the streets to bitch about things, nothing will change. Signing an online petition gets as much done as attacking the petitioner.... Nothing. Signing a petition is catharsis, complaining about it is hypocritical.

Anonymous downraters are pussies. No balls.

I bumped ya. Ron Paul and Ed Snowjob are cartoon characters and Ron Paul - who is out of government yet still gets a microphone to do useless shit with - speaking out for Snowjob is a sideshow.

I know why ZH still posts dumb shit from Ron Paul - but it's getting old.

Abi Normal's picture

The Liberal-tarians tear me up man, ZH is a fucking joke, when it comes to this kind of mess!  Finances, etc, yes, ZH is top notch, but with the politics and intreague, not so much!

"Anonymous downraters are pussies. No balls."

+1 for that comment as I couldn't agree more.

Everything else not so much.

acetinker's picture

I don't use the arrows, especially the red one.  However, your assertion that RP is a gatekeeper is most likely correct.

Don't get me wrong, RP helped me greatly along my path.  I donated to his campaigns and money bombs.  Just when "victory" seemed so close at hand, he quits.  Twice.

Like I said, he started me down a path that I may have never otherwise found, but left me short.  The path has gotten narrow and dark where I am now.  RP is somewhere, back there, behind me.  Every now and then I bump into someone else, just as lost as me, but still looking for some light.  May God bless you all.

jbvtme's picture

why isn't he better off where he is?

Al Gorerhythm's picture

What's this shit about "clemency" Dr, Paul? Doesn't "clemency" imply guilt? Clemency is forgiveness for wrong doing. Has a trial been held where Snowden was found guilty? You know the meaning of this word and have used it deliberately. Politicians chose their words carefully and both you and your miserable offspring have been at this game long enough to know what youare doing.

That's twice I've heard this "Clemency" proposal, for a person who hasn't even had a trial and was just doing his job under oath and has paid the price for heroic behaviour, which all of us should be supporting. Your lower than snake shit son proposed the same thing a few weeks ago, using the same word, big-noting himself on the airwaves, inserting into the debate that word and trampling on the face of a hero, using the situation to promote himself, which I can understand, but now you?

If he wasn't guilty before, he is now. Good on you Pauls!

Have you already condemned him or are you just being disingenuous with your selection of words, thereby promoting yourselves as the good guys.
