Ron Paul Launches Clemency Petition For Edward Snowden
Former Congressman Ron Paul has launched a petition to attempt to garner clemency for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. The "Demand Clemency for Edward Snowden" petition includes the clip below, Paul calls on supporters to sign the petition in an attempt to bring Snowden home to the US safely before his temporary visa in Russia expires in July.
On the heels of his son Rand Paul's lawsuit against the Obama nd the NSA seeking to stop its collection of phone metadata, Ron Paul states "Edward Snowden shocked the world when he exposed the NSA’s illegal and abusive spying program. Instead of applauding him for his bravery and patriotism, the U.S. government labels Snowden a traitor."
By signing this petition, Paul notes on his Channel's website, "you are telling the US government that Mr. Snowden deserves the right to come home without the fear of persecution or imprisonment."

I think Snowden is CIA. He was an officer in the CIA and then went to Booze Allen which might as well be an offshoot of the CIA itself. Once you go CIA you are there for life. And you certainly don't turn against them. It would be suicide, with no where to hide.
He began attacking the NSA right after the whole Bengazi thing exploded.
He's a limited hang out that is attacking the one agency (NSA) that most likely could have outed the whole illegal Arab Spring Fiction. His purpose is to put pressure on the NSA and put them on the defensive as a big warning. And it worked.
Also the CIA and the FSB (formerly the KGB) work together all the time now. After Russia collapsed a special covert CIA related fund was set up to buy up the assets (on the cheap) from corrupt state officials.

You've done your homework. Much of what you said carries some weight, but I'll part company on the ever so cozy relationship idea between CIA and FSB.
To some extent they are always engaged to one another for information, but I don't buy for one minute that they are "on the same team".
Having said that, what I wouldn't give to have Vlad make a very public statement about who did 9/11 (which he certainly could) given his knowledge on the subject. Something tells me many things will be "on the table", if the U.S. keeps screwing with Russia on it's 50 year old business partner in Syria and it's centuries old neighbor that the likes of Pyatt and Nuland seem hell bent to fuck with.

What people fail to realize on the Snowden situation is that he had lots of help both from within and without. This wasn't a "one-man_show" even though it's being advertized that way by Greenwald and the rest of the media establishment. You can believe this or not believe this, but the NSA, CIA and FBI have much more to worry about with the minions currently under their control, because Ed represents many, many, more disaffected within the U.S. IC.
Another way of putting it is the electronic (eyes and ears) caught the flu but the HUMINT has double pneumonia and it started spreading with the DoD when the issue of torture became front and center in the war on terror when the lies to invade Afghanistan and Iraq got rolling, and the likes of the Bush Administration "un-moored" itself from the treatys they were obligated to but discarded as impediments including that one hanging up on the wall in the National Archives that's just about faded completely away into the ether.

Clemency is something you give to someone who has done something wrong. Edward Snowden deserves an apology.
The real question is how can such a large cancer been growing for so long without any other person having the decency to out the evil?
While I'm not aware of any prior leaks on par with Mr. Snowden's, bits and pieces of information relating to similar and/or overlapping programs have been leaked over the years (ECHELON, CARNIVORE, Room 641A, etc). Small hints can even be found on the NSA's own website; for example, their interest in distributed computing and MapReduce. Not damning information in and of itself, but telling. Naturally, none of this stuff resonated outside of the tech industry until it was right out there in the open and easily digestable by the mass.

The only revelation from Snowden is how weak NSA's internal security is, and even that should be no huge suprise.
All his other "revelations" were either known, suspected, or expected. His actions are prima facie violations of every secrecy laws on the books up to and including treason.
So, the net value I get from doing the math is that he's a traitor, a self-righteous twit and too stupid to even know if what he's got is valuable or not. I have some tiny sympathy for him even so, because 99.9% of stuff that the government classifies is garbage and it's always good to shine some light on that. But if it's even possible to make himself look worse he did so by running off to China and Russia. That's either knowledge of guilt or else piling treason on treason.
