Man Breaks Into Police Station, Beats Up, Hospitalizes Cops
It's not that the US has a scarcity of bizarre everyday stories - it does not. It is just that sometimes you encounter something so surreal, warped and ridiculous, that even the stock "market" makes sense by comparison. Such as this.
From WNEP of Scranton.
A man is locked up in Luzerne County after breaking into city hall in Pittston. Police said Max Deangelo of Blakeslee smashed one of the glass doors to get into city hall. The Pittston Police Department is also located in the building.
Deangelo is also accused of kicking officers in the chest and face as they tried to arrest him. Deangelo and an officer were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators have not said why Deangelo broke into the building.
Police said he is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, and more charges.
And now, back to the regularly scheduled, televised recovery.

Maybe they were scared of him. Cops usually only assault people who can't defend themselves, most of the time using SWAT in the early morning while they are sleeping in their beds. They aren't used to people going to where they work and beating the crap out of them.

Very true. Like Kelly Thomas, an unarmed man, who was literally beaten to death by Fullerton, CA cops. You can find the video on YouTube. The beating goes on for nearly half an hour despite pleas by the victim for cops to stop. "Medical records show that bones in his face were broken and he choked on his own blood. The coroner concluded that compression of the thorax made it impossible for Thomas to breathe normally and deprived his brain of oxygen."
"Officer" Manuel Ramos, is overheard saying, "See these fists? They're getting ready to f*ck you up." as put on latex gloves before administering the beating. Ramos was found not guilty of using excessive force by an Orange Co. CA jury. Last weekend, however, the patrons of a Denny's restaurant were not so charitable. Several patrons complained to management; so much so that the murderer was forced to leave.
Shunning and ostracism are incredibly powerful but peaceful tools. Use them liberally against such heroes.

Have you seen the cops that work the city halls of America..., usually teetering on retirement, or some 3oo lb female that fills a quota catagory. Definately shouldn't be expected to defend herself or others in a snap-decision environment.

On February 7, in Eden Prairie, MN a whole gang of police shot and killed a man and woman after a high speed chase in a stolen car down hwy 212. Details were quite fuzzy at first though there was some question of the man having a gun and holding the woman. From the sketchy details, I gathered that they got themselves all pumped full of adrenalin and she was simply collateral damage. Very little has come out of the police until yesterday, but apparently they now have their story straight and their asses covered - TA DA! They state he had a knife and continued to approach them after they ordered him to drop it. When they shot him dead, they insist the woman, a mother of 2 young children, implausible as it sounds, picked up the knife and continued to approach them, even after being ordered to drop it and seeing her boyfriend shot dead before her eyes. That is their story and they're sticking to it.

Yet, then also admit in the same post that they refuse to use a firearm (when confronted about how rediculous the concept is). Also, just to play devils advocate here. Have you ever dealt with a methed out person? I can say I have had two personal experiences, one where I was told that I owed them money and another punched me in the face with no provacation. Neither of these people I knew, seemed like transients. Happened in Minneapolis. They are literally insane, so I do wonder if it IS possible that she picked up the knife?

Treatment of this incident by the press was very toned down. The whole scenario smells like a construct made to follow SOP. If they had been in the right it wouldn't have taken a week to hear from them. After all, they must have video from the cameras on the cop cars. I think they killed an unarmed woman in the first barrage and I'm not confident the man even showed them a knife.

I'm just curious if you see anything popping up on your near term screens. 6 months ago I felt the Nikkei was on cruise control but looking at it now it seems to be losing steam. If it falters again I wonder if we end up with the typical (nikkei) market crash followed by a stronger Yen or if we finally go the other way and get the big bond/currency implosion this time.

I too am a liveleak junkie, esp with regards to Syria. It's interesting to sort the vids by date and go through them from the very beginning. The guy in my town who took an AK, walked up to somebody and told the guy "Call the cops and tell them I'm waiting," the guy who ran over the squad cars with the tractor, and now this guy. I bet if you searched, you'd find other instances too. It's not just people in the US that are fed up with cops.
As long as this guy makes it home safe to his wife and kids, that's all that matters.
