Despite the ongoing proclamations of "absolute calm" the streets (below) appear anything but with hundreds of thousands on the streets... and protesters are blocking the National Guard van that holds Lopez.

A report in the Peruvian press based on a recent NBC interview with Senator McCain states that doddering Grandpa McCain is actually calling for an immediate deployment of troops and a naval fleet to Venezuela.
He wants to activate a "coalition" of allies from Colombia, Perú and Chile to "prevent President Maduro from destroying the rights and interests of the US in this hemispheric region".
"We need to be ready to go in with a military force and bring peace to Venezuela, and above all, guarantee and protect the oil flow to the United States, guarding those strategic resources, and enforcing our global interests".

The situation in Venezuela should serve as a warning to anyone else who thinks full fledged Socialism is such a grand idea. I'll say it again those at the top share the gains the rest the pains. We aren't there yet but we are moving far too rapidly in that direction and from there it will move into Fascism or Communism.
It's a good day for a revolt.
More should try to unshackel themselves from their masters.

Let's step back (from the Comedy Central stage) and look at the "Big JPG"... and let's walk through the Decision Tree:

> Venezuela opposed to Club Fed? Check.
> Venezuela has Nukes (WMDs)? Nope.
OK then... "Time for Regime Change": IOW...
(a) Weaken its economy (via socialist Gov), then
(b) Enter CIA & Friends to create unrest and enable "Spring" cleaning.
(c) While the media help the masses and bloggers focus on the Distraction ('socialism', premeditated* 'corruption'), the CIA magicians can focus on the Action.
* Premeditated Incompetence = After a strong & crafty leader dies (with or w/o assistance), it behooves TPTB (Club Fed) to have the most incompetent (socialist) person elected to leadership, to accelerate the coming economic attacks.

If a 'Fed-unfriendly' country like Venezuela also had nukes (WMDs), then it would be tougher for Club Fed to push them around. But given that Latin countries lack WMDs and have (Catholic/agrarian) roots which makes for fertile soil for socialism, the Socialism card is easier to play than the Dictator card (Cuba, Iraq, Libya, Syria).
But don't be fooled, TPTB will play either card (Dictator or Socialism) -- depending on the situation -- as history has shown. Which is why I see Socialism in the context of the "Bigger JPG", i.e. the psychological and visual Distraction.
Moral: All countries who resist Club Fed are now targeted for regime change via "Spring cleaning". Lest they join or strengthen the BRIC alliance. IOW, "If you're not with us/US, you're against us/US". Seems to be the mentality.
Venezuelans voted for this in free and fair elections according to Jimmy Carter and Sean Penn, and they're no friends of the USA.

Apose nationalization for resources (or course, too easy), control the message (already there), let people think they are going to get a better deal (look at IRAQ, Afghanistan, Egypt and Libya and soon SYRIA for the truth), throw in some student videos pleading for social freedom (brings tears to my eyes), etc ... and the beat goes on. Too fucking easy.
Economic hitmen? No need. Let others fight your battles for you (Mossad style) Too easy. There will be US drones flying overhead within 2 years.
