The "Ukraine Situation" Explained In One Map

Tyler Durden's picture

Sadly, everything you need to know about the crisis in Ukraine in one worrisome map which summarizes all the relevant "red lines."

Given this - is there any doubt this will not end with peaceful resolution.

As Martin Armstrong warned this morning:

BOTH the USA and EU will now fund the rebels as Russia will fund Yanukovych. At the political level, Ukraine is the pawn on the chessboard. The propaganda war is East v West. However, those power plays are masking the core issue that began with the Orange Revolution – corruption. Yanukovych is a dictator who will NEVER leave office. It is simple as that. There will be no REAL elections again in Ukraine. This is starting to spiral down into a confrontation that the entire world cannot ignore.

It is like Technical Analysis. You have many people whom make the claim that Technical Analysis does not work in a Managed Market.

However there are many more people whom do not believe, wrongly or rightly, that Markets are managed. Therefore they make decisions based upon that which they believe and realize the Self Fulfilling Prophecy. Thus Technical Analysis works because most people believe that it works..AND MAKE MAJOR FINANCIAL DECISIONS BASED ON IT.

It is likewise with the Book of Revelations. Because you may not believe that there is a God and believe that the Book of Revelation is valid DOES NOT MEAN that there are many more people whom DO BELIEVE in the Prophecy. (For instance I do believe it.) They will base their ENTIRE LIFE on what is written in that Book. It will be realized as a Self Fulfiling Prophecy.

If you are right about atheism, and there is no God, then that Book is STILL an EXTREMELY POWERFUL BOOK and you will not escape the consequences thereof.

People ACT UPON WHAT THEY BELIEVE.

That fact, alone, should be a very strong indicator that there is a God; that an ancient writing, as that, does have so much power over the Human Collective Mind.

what an ironic post.

The book of rev would only come true due to anachronistic self-fulfilling prophecy.

Only Scoffield Annotated ZioBible types thinks it regards the future.  It absolutely does not - it regards Christians versus the Roman Empire in the decades after Christ.

Yes yes, your mind immediately rejects it, applies a label to it - but doubt is a holy thing, and you could at least be brave and honest enough to do some googling and youtubing to learn about this position.

Then again, Evangelicals spend so much time in the OT and on awaiting a final war that they never read the NT and fail even to be supercessionist in outlook.

It's as if a group of Pharisees intentionally found a way to dupe a large number of Protestants away from the Gospels and the Acts of The Man Himself... and in such a way that they never realize it.

DHS To Make Another Huge Ammo Buy, Cornering The Market

ok, maybe you don't shoot, or practice much if you do shoot. I go the the indoor range 1-2 times a week. Each time I go I shoot 60+ rounds (which is only 4 mags of 17 rounds each). This could take all of 10 minutes, depending. These are pistol rounds. So in a month I consume at least 250 pistol rounds up to as many as 500 per month, but lets just say 250. That's at least 3000++ rounds per year if my math is correct. having said that I know last year I shot well over 3 cases (3000).

When the weather (blaming the weather, I know) gets nice I go to an outdoor range on the weekend and shoot over 240+ carbine rounds - which is only 8 mags of 30. I do this twice a month, or more, in the off-winter months. lets say 5 months * 400 = 2000. Last year I shot about 5000 rounds so I guess I got in a few more weekends.

This DHS order is for 2500 rounds per agent, correct? They are supposed to train to be experts. How else will they be able to accurately shoot kids with AK shaped BB guns and pointing game controllers.

I'm just a gun hobbyist civilian shmuck and I shoot more than that. Just does not sound like a lot of ammo to me.

Yeah, the numbers are made to out to be a big deal when they're really not when people who have any experience shooting really stop and think about it.

I know peeps who go out with their ARs about twice a month, 10 standard capacity magazines each time = about 600 rds a month on average.  That's 7200 rounds per year for funsies/target practice and that's not including .22LR or 9mm through the Glock.

Also, during the height of the recent panic, I watched over 3 million rounds of 5.45 x 39 sell out on AimSurplus in about an hour and a half.

These .gov purchases are really not that big a deal folks.  Civies are doing just fine.

Just do a google image search for "ammo whore".

https://www.google.com/search?q=ammo+whore&espv=210&es_sm=93&source=lnms...

It sounds like quite a bit to me still - bump that 7200 up to 7500...704 million rounds divided by 7500 rounds per funsie/target practice per DHS agent still equals to just under 94,000 agents.

Russia indeed uses the gas as a political weapon and has shut it down multiple times in the past. But now the "Russian" guy is in office. Ukraine and Russia just agreed on further cooperation. Shutting it down does nothing to help the situation. You can be sure that if things turn out badly for Russia gas will be used as a political weapon and if Ukraine doesn't find alternatives quickly their economy will suffer even more.

agreed Martin is a neo-CON shill

Yanukvych was fairly elected and has limited powers. (Martin claims Yanukvych is a "dictator") [If Yannukvch is a "dictator", then other leaders in the US and EU, as well as their allies, must also be deemed so. Perhaps dealing with political freedoms in one's own country should be the first priority.]

The core issue is US/NATO/IMF expansion and intrusion (Martin claims the core issue is "corruption") [There has been much discussion at ZH about corruption. Suffice it to say that the corruption of the US and EU, and their allies in India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico, etc. are hardly less so. And arguably, the wealthy US/EU does the most corrupting of others.]

For many reasons, the US/EU should keep out. (Martin claims the world "cannot ignore" it, presumably to justify his statement that the US/EU will "support" the "rebels". Hypocritical humanitarian intervention indeed.)

Thanks for the map. So regardless of what happens in the Ukraine, Germany (and the Europe who can afford it) will still get their Russian gas. Well, that's good news. Why would anyone throw a war over pipelines to the Balkans and Turkey?

I don't see any protracted war, aside from "invited" Russian help to suppress/crush whatever Ukranian rebels can muster.

The Russians are a bit different from almost all other major oil exporters in that their oil moves by primarily by pipeline. That changes many factors. Lets just say that selling oil to alternative customers is difficult...

Also, do people really think that the Putin will turn to China for financial backing through any conflict with the West. Remember, no hydrocarbon sales, 50% less  government revenues... I don;t see it, but I may be mistaken...

Fri, 02/21/2014 - 02:17 | 4461006 PrawnStar
PrawnStar's picture

So Flak, in your opinion, does this clash in the Ukraine have anything to do with oil pipelines? Or is it that Ukranians are mortally concerned with whether their hegemon is to their East or their West? Or is it something else? Your facts have just debunked the idea that East/West (spy vs. spy) puppet-masters orchestrated this (now deadly) revolt over pipeline ownership. What do you think it's about?

Fri, 02/21/2014 - 10:52 | 4461726 Flakmeister
Flakmeister's picture

The pipelines are an issue, for the obvious reasons and partly because hard currency is involved vis transfer fees but it is pretty clear that this is driven by the Ukrainian people being fed up with the status quo...

They look at Poland and Belarus, the former tied to the West with a much higher standard of living and the latter, a poor corrupt puppet state of Russia. The choice and direction they want to take is very clear in their minds...

The issue is that Russia needs the Ukraine far more than the Ukraine needs Russia. And even the most cursory examination of 20th century Ukranian history shows there is no love lost between the two.  Not many people realize 1/4 of the front line strength of the von Paulus's 6th Army were Russian, predominantly Ukranian volunteers....

Like I said above, the West will gnash their teeth and make noises but they will not directly interfere. Putin is a dangerous powerful man and you do not corner men of his ilk without giving them a facesaving way out. The Ukraine is not Syria...

It makes you wonder if Putin 'let' the opposition grab that weapons cache yesterday.  Once fighting increases, Ukraine will be able to call for 'help' from the Russian army -- and now we know that the primary mission will be to protect these pipelines.  There is simply NO WAY that Putin will let control of these pipelines slip away.

The real shame is that the majority of the people in the Ukraine just want to go on living their lives -- just like the people of Syria did -- before global politics destroyed their homes and their lives...

These pipelines are "Transit" lines - Yes

So - what has Russia got to loose - they are the source of the transiting product/export.

They can't loose - maybe in short term they might lose some revenue, but that just means their resource will last a little longer, it will still be there for sale

Anyway - just a thought - down the crap out of me :-))))

I mean seriously.  The guy was under investigation for mega fraud, and the investigators came to get his computer equipment.  But he spins it like the government wanted his super secret AI to use for their own purposes, not as evidence of fraud.  And anyone with an ego like his is a trading trainwreck--Which is why he lost all his clients money, and then tried to hide the losses until he was busted.

His name was Sergey Aleynikov.

I've seen the CIA come knocking for everything from information on slant drilling in bad neighborhoods to that massive WMD project that the Great Man Made River was hiding... (thank Gawd Saddam never tried something as ambitious or we'd still be in Iraq and never have left after '91). Who knows what the CIA does with the info, but they do ask for it (and not necessarily politely).

So I don't see the magic black box as conclusive.

No newsletter or TA system no matter how sophisticated is going to be correct the vast majority of the time, and over time, since human analytics recognize patterns, evolve and adapt. So his attitude (particularly when coupled with his intentional ambiguity) really rubs me the wrong way.

I don't understand the arguments here at all. There are two groups involved: The pro-Russian group is obviously in favor of pipelines since Russia makes money off them so they will support the Russians. The second group is pro-European and they will support the pipelines since the Europeans receive positive benefits from them. No poliical group wants to shut them down.

The issue concerning the pipelines is how much benefit Ukraine will receive in terms of transit fees and reduced prices for gas its own uses. Obviously Ukraine wants to receive more benefits and Russia wants to pay fewer costs.

The superpowers are a proxy of those who wish to control the money supply, with the winner pricing energy in their currency. Martin is off the mark on corruption, he can't see it's the board the whole chess game is built upon. What I think we are looking at is a race for countries to base money backed by gold (East) or energy (west). I think the west game is to use the military, subversion, dictators, bribery, etc. to lock up energy supplies and charge gold for it later. I think the east is looking to accumulate enough gold to go it alone before the collapse or at least feel safe when they "pull it". The entire game is built around controlling the money supply and having it backed by an asset at the reset point. I think both groups (and any new ones looking to emerge) have 800 year long term plans.

How's that different from here? Corruption is a thoroughly pervasive part of everyday life everywhere. We all deal with MAD logic. Diffuse corruption is part of the modern world. You think Ukraine is worse than the American gulags?

It's a matter of people being overfed, fed, and digitally fed, that's all that keeps other places (here) from realising just how corrupt it is. The old Cold War psyops cliche that 'there is worse than here' is just that, a cliche, and a bad one.

This is what the Nuland and the EU/IMF/NATO axis want for Ukraine, dummy:

Zeitgeist Addendum (HD) Part II - Economic Hitman

They are far better off with the far better deal the oil and gas rich Russians have offered them, and for the nth time, the Holdomor was simply the Ukrainian part of the same starvation and executions and deportations that happened all over Russia proper, by the Bolsheviks, who were largely Jewish and financed by their Jewish bretheren in London and NYC.  It's not a conspiracy theory or canard, just an inconvenient truth.  The Ukrainian oligrachs are largely Jewish even today, just as the Russian ones are.

Apart from trotsky and kaganovich, you might read about Sverdlov which is the tip of the iceberg.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakov_Sverdlov

When you deny this, it shows you don't know the history and simply want to look like a "good guy" - this isn't to excuse the right wing fucks in western ukraine now, not one bit, let's have some fucking nuance, but let's admit of the facts.

Organized Jewry has caused great suffering to the Ukrainian people. This doesn't mean "the Jews"  or "all Jews" it meant Jewish people, organized, and acting against the non-Jewish majority, as happened, basically, in Russia.

If the Jews can use the holocaust to reject all criticism, then I don't see why the Ukrainians should have to apologize for rejecting Jewish economic and political dominance, which is what Nuland and the IMF represent, not what Putin represents.

Putin is largely hated precisely because he greatly reduced the power of the mostly Jewish oligarchs who stole Russia's wealth.

Some of them fled to Ukraine.

right, you're doing it again and will never stop.  You can whitewash history, and you can call pointing out crimes committed by groups of people who are Jewish "antisemitic" {not Arabs though, right, Flak?} but that does not make it so.

1947-1949 War

While it is widely reported that the resulting war eventually included five Arab armies, less well known is the fact that throughout this war Zionist forces outnumbered all Arab and Palestinian combatants combined – often by a factor of two to three. Moreover, Arab armies did not invade Israel – virtually all battles were fought on land that was to have been the Palestinian state.

Finally, it is significant to note that Arab armies entered the conflict only after Zionist forces had committed 16 massacres, including the grisly massacre of over 100 men, women, and children at Deir Yassin. Future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, head of one of the Jewish terrorist groups, described this as “splendid,” and stated: “As in Deir Yassin, so everywhere, we will attack and smite the enemy. God, God, Thou has chosen us for conquest.” Zionist forces committed 33 massacres altogether.

By the end of the war, Israel had conquered 78 percent of Palestine; three-quarters of a million Palestinians had been made refugees; over 500 towns and villages had been obliterated; and a new map was drawn up, in which every city, river and hillock received a new, Hebrew name, as all vestiges of the Palestinian culture were to be erased. For decades Israel denied the existence of this population, former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once saying: “There is no such thing as a Palestinian.”

....expulsions made "sacred" in the religious texts of the Jews, in Joshua and Deuteronomy, where the hatred and genocide and cheating of "the other" was deemed divine command, and where, "chosenness" isn't "racist" even though it sure seems like it?

THE CAUSES OF HOSTILITY TOWARDS JEWS: A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

When someone claims that some statement or other is "hate" or "antisemitism" my first reaction now is  "but, is there evidence that is is true, or not?"

I don't even think you are dumb enough to believe saying "the people who killed the Czar were mostly Jewish" is 'racist.'

What I think is you're enough of a cunt to cry, stamp your feet, and shout antisemite/hitler/nazi at anyone brave or just honest enough to recite the historical facts.  Which is all I did.

You'd prefer no one know that Jewish people, i.e. some Jews, played a negative and outsized role in the Bolshevik coup, and for that matter the failed one about a decade earlier, and for that matter, one that failed in Garmany, and for that matter, the one in Hungary - with all its blood.  And Poland.  And yes, Fluke, Jews have far more moey and power than their numbers would ten to suggest.  In the US, in the UK, in France, in Russia, and in Ukraine as well as dozens of other places...  Belgium.. South Africa where they are 0.7% of the population and 25% of the top 100 richest people  [think blood diamonds and apartheid helped fuel that, or were those things only part of it when it was one of the goyish millionaires?]

You want to distort and obfuscate history so that we never learn from it, so that the truth has to be whispered, and rumors of truth distorted into actual hate - violence and brutality and coercion and discriminatory laws. Things I hate more than you do.

But I also love the truth - the idea of it... the process of trying to get closer to it.

That requires a kind of unapologetic bluntness.  Yes, Fluke, Jews did things as a group, due in part to their insularity, religious tenets and chauvanism that contributed to "anti-semitism" in not one, but dozens of lands, over hundreds of years.  We don't blame the rape victim for being raped, and we don't say that her clothing caused it, but does this mean that the clothing might not have contributed to the end result?  And if the rape is repeated over and over by different actors - might we begin to ask questions.  And what if the analogy is not of a rape but of a beating...

Do the Palestinians deserve the beating hey are getting from the Grandchildren of people who left Poland and Germany in order to build an ethnarchy, the very ontology of which presupposed expulsions?

You see, many or most of the apologists for Israel's occupation likely actually believe that criticizing them for act a, b, or c, which even they would deem a crime were the roles reversed, is "anti-Semitic" not because it actually is, but because they think they are above criticism, chosen, and special, a perpetual and sacred victim, ordained by Yahweh, twice, to kill and expel people already living in land they wanted.

And this moral solipsism, this xenophobia is part and parcel of Judaism  {not the DNA of Jewish peeps}.  And it is why Israel's government paid rabbis can say outlandish, racist shit, and half the country will still turn out to weep.

You either support truthfulness, or you don't.

And you either support non-violence and justice for everyone - or you don't.
