Spot The Weather's Impact On Existing Home Sales
While it's useful to keep the dream alive (and blame the weather for any weakness that ruins the "sustainable recovery" meme) the data (once again) does not support that "common knowledge" whatsoever...
The Northeast - decimated by home-sales-destroying cold weather - saw the smallest drop in sales
The West - supported by the driest and most home-sales-encouraging warm weather - saw the biggest drop in sales of all regions
So what does that do to the "recovery" meme?
Can we finally put to death the "it's the weather's fault" meme?
We anxiously await Joe Lavorgna's clarification of the weather effect.

People in CA are being impacted by Obamacare the most.
Every day more about the "Covered California" sham is uncovered.
It's funny that you mention that, because around here all you heard from the Obamabots is how 'cheap' their insurance is that they never had before. Now their tune has changed because they are finding out nobody will accept it.
When's the POMO hit today?
Obama plan: Cut tax breaks for richest retirement savers
"Richest" being $ 225000 if you are married. LOL !!
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/obama-plan-cut-tax-breaks-for-rich-retirement-savers-2014-02-21?dist=lcountdown
This is somehow going to help people save more money for retirement. That seems to be the justification. Good bye to saving in 401ks if there was any saving thro' that wretched medium at all.
he just talks and talks and talks. nobody cares.
He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
My family saved almost $800 a month by switching three of us off my wife's Christian Brothers health care plan on to Obamacare.
Don't get me wrong - I hate Obamacare (for reasons different from many on the ZH: I hate insurance companies).
Whether that insurance will pay out anything if needed is another question. Had the same question with the CB plan. My family doesn't use doctors, much. Stitches and the like.
Saving $800 on premiums means absolutely nothing. What is important is what is covered, your total deductibles and co-payments, and the quality and availability of qualified doctors in your "plan"....
What good is saving $800 if your deductibles increase $4500?
Think!
J
If you go six months without making a claim, you have saved the $4,500. It's pretty straightforward.
In my case, the deductibles are virtually the same, too.
I know I'm off script.
True, and if you go forever without a claim you'll "save" even more.
I suppose you can also "save" a lot of money on food by not eating.
J
it'll be interesting for you to revisit this quote a year from now when obama care is insolvent
and your
premiums double
If the premiums double, it will still be significantly less than what I was paying before.
I am not an Obamacare supporter, but what would you do if you were in my shoes?
Save my money so if somebody really does get sick I can afford to fly to India and get world class healthcare super cheap from an American trained doctor in a world class hospital for dirt cheap money in Mumbai.
Your family saved, while another is forced to pay your way. Thanks Rex, you're a real swell guy.
Just like Cash for Clunkers... infuriating how people fall into the FSA thinking woo! hoo! the government just gave me a big discount on this car!!! Fucking makes me want to puke.
Humans can be so terribly lazy (sloth) and vain. What you don't realize is these follies of man are being used against you/us to manipulate, control and enslave.
A little overblown. For those that need to be told, December and January are historically slow months for the mortgage industry.
California drought well explained here: http://cosmicconvergence.org/?p=6184

Chemtrails and HAARP are the Smoke and Mirrors behind the fabricated ‘Global Cooling’ events'
Geoengineered Weather Patterns Wreaking Havoc Across Planet
the northeast isn't suffering in the nyc-d.c. corridor, that's for sure
It's the flood in Great Britain, and therefore West and Midwest feel the greater impact.
But but but... There's a DROUGHT!!!
That must be it!
Its Global Warming. Code for Socialism because you can't call Socialism.
Yep. And now there is a big push to convince the gum chewing public that global cooling is a symptom of global warming, lol. FORWARD!
..... caused by weather.
anything past the mississippi does not count....did you not get the memo?
A house is not like a 'normal' retail purchase.
You do not turn to your spouse and say "it's pretty nice outside, let's go and buy a house".
The idea is idiotic from top to bottom.
Home sales are down because the fucking economy is in the TOILET. Is this really that hard to understand? The Democrat-Media Alliance are doing yeoman's work trying to defend Teh Obamateur, but it's not very convincing after 5 1/2 years.
This also correlates with Canadian's (northern Mexicans) only purchasing homes in the 4 weeks they have of summer...
I'm sorry, $12k a year = $120k over 10 years = $360k over 30 years. WTF obamacare, are you smokin' crack?! This is the dumbest idea since income tax and central banks. Who the hell pushed this through and why are they still alive?!
Weather you think you can sell your home or you can't, you're probably right.
Luckily, "House prices never drop" ... my realtor says.
In the North East I'm pretty sure they just call it winter. The contractors that build in North East have been doing so for a long time so weather isn't really a factor. Bunch of Southern Builders didn't move into New England to build houses and then realized it snowed there. This is why you can't get all your News information from that shit hole called NY City.
//I'm not going to file my taxes on time this year because I'm detered by the weather. When I do, I think I will seasonably adjust the total to better reflect what I feel like paying.
Btw, is Zerohedge blocked on prison computers as well as government systems?
I only look for a house if it is 73° with 64% relative humidity.
Um, you forgot the tens and hundreds digits:
73.00
There, fixed it for you.
O/T, but you need to see this. "Obama Calls for An End to Austerity"
this country is in BIG trouble. First and Second Amendments under fire, record debt levels....and the president calls for an end to "austerity" here in the USA. what planet is this guy on?

I'm starting to wonder if he is not more than a little psycho.
Spot the existing home sales impact on the equity markets.
I'll give you a hint: It's bullish.
So nobody believes that this epic drought is wrecking havoc on home shopping? (Sarc off).
Weather destroys a lot of things but not lies.
But it's cold in Tucson, AZ. You can't expect increased economic activity when it's only 77° F outside.
California is ready to default.
And that will be the funniest fucking thing to happen in a very long time.
the fact that these people get away with this shit every day is just unbelieveable.
ya, i am sure '' investors'' are buying stocks up with all this bad news time and time again, its not the fed at all.
if the fucking weather is so bad like they claim, then how does it justify stocks going up every fucking day? shouldnt stocks somewhat reflect the economy?
we all know its b.s, personally, and i am sure i speak for many on here, my life has not been drastically changed due to ''bad weather'', this is no fucking different than any other winter.
i am sure the 1st month of spring they will make up fake data and then they will all say ''' see it was the weather'', and then a fe months later we will get bullshit again and it will be ignored.
un fucking believeable that this is still going on 5 years later with no end in sight
I'm in the NE, in NJ. Suddenly, there are a lot of homes for sale. Plenty more inventory than last year. I'd say 2x as much at least.
