Two Russian Warships Enter Black Sea Through Bosphorus; Another Docks In Cuba

Tyler Durden's picture

Russia may be awaiting a diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine crisis, but we wouldn't hold our breath especially with the deposed president Yanukovich set to conduct a press conference tomorrow from Russia's Rostov-on-Don at 5pm local time, where we hardly anticipate a scaling back of the escalation in what is sure to not be an abdication from power. Instead, Putin continues to prepare for the worst and is openly signalling to the West that if he has to fight to regain influence in the Ukraine, he will, as a top Kremlin politician warned last week. As such it was not surprising to read that two Russian warships, the Minsk and the Kaliningrad which last week were sent out on deployment around Syria, crossed back into the Black Sea, most likely in direction Sevastopol, as the build up of Russian forces in the Crimea continues.

From Bosphorus Nabal News:

Today, two Ropucha class landing ship from Russian Navy passed through Bosphorus returning from their Syrian deployment. As the political crisis in Ukraine particular in Crimea is increasing it is possible that Russian Navy wanted these valuable assets closer to home.

And in other more perplexing news, AFP reported that a Russian warship was docked in Havana Wednesday, without explanation from Communist Cuba or its state media. "The Viktor Leonov CCB-175 boat, measuring 91.5 meters (300 feet) long and 14.5 meters wide, was docked at the port of Havana's cruise ship area, near the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The Vishnya, or Meridian-class intelligence ship, which has a crew of around 200, went into service in the Black Sea in 1988 before it was transferred seven years later to the northern fleet, Russian media sources said.

Neither Cuban authorities nor state media have mentioned the ship's visit, unlike on previous tours by Russian warships.

The former Soviet Union was Cuba's sponsor state through three decades of Cold War. After a period of some distancing under former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, the countries renewed their political, economic and military cooperation.

The ship is reportedly armed with 30mm guns and anti-aircraft missiles.

The Mail adds that The intelligence vessel bristles with electronic eavesdropping equipment and weaponry, including AK-630 rapid-fire cannons and surface-to-air missiles.

Bringing back memories: Tourists in a old American car pass by the Russian Viktor Leonov spy ship that docked in Havana, Cuba, on Wednesday

Why is Russia planting a spy ship in the US backyard? It might have something to do with John Kerry's earlier admonition that the US is now behaving like a "poor nation" - maybe Russia decided to test just how poor?

Russia will do nothing but lots of noise. Why?

Well, all Russia oligarchs keep their money and their families in EU and the USA. Putin's family and his two daughters live in Germany with his palaces all over Europe. He does not give a shit about Russia and/or Ukraine.

However, Ukraine affair is just a Zionists oligarchy family dispute over ownership over Ukraine. Opposition leaders are all Jews. Timoshenko-Kuperman is Jewish. The new Prime Minister is also Jewish. However, this dispute can and will go out off control.

PS

Back in 1917, Russia became a Jewish Bolshevik colony and nothing has changed since then. Hitler has tried to stop it but he has failed. The USA is not much different: it was a British colony and now it is a zionist colony. Enjoy it...

This Jewish conspiracy nonsense is a waste of people's time, and is extremely dangerous. While there are many Jews in positions of power, disproportionately even, this is very much a contingent aspect of history. The Jewish aspect of money-changing was quite important during the original religious wars, but is not so important today.

Really, does it matter who is in charge of the banks? Would we be better off if it were Calvinists, Muslims, or Zen Buddhists in charge? I highly doubt it.

Further, the current problems have much more to do with capital itself, the state, historical conditions, and ideology than any zionist conspiracy. Remove the zionists and much of the world would still be a wasteland of stupid and immoral people ready to take their place.

And to think that the Zionists are in control of a nation that controls over 25% of the earth? Read your Democracy in America, there are factors in one's own back yard that are primary - not the Jooooos or reptilian aliens.

general ambivalent:  "Further, the current problems have much more to do with capital itself, the state, historical conditions, and ideology than any zionist conspiracy."

Personally, I think it has to do more with there being a certain small percentage of the population who are socio-path/psycho-paths. They are physiologically unable to feel empathy or concern for other human beings, even members of their own family. To them, people are objects to be manipulated, exploited, and controlled. They actually enjoy hurting others. They are often smooth talking hucksters who work themselves to the highest levels in society because they hide themselves well and will do anything to get what they want. They are exclusively self centered, but observe others to gain advantage. They always seem to push things to the point of destruction, including self destruction. Because they have no real human relationships, they seek thrills and engagement through high risk behavior which usually escalates. They cannot help themselves. For the vast majority of people the sociopath/psychopath view of the world is incomprehensible because all they want to do is live a decent life and take care of their families. Such psychopaths have been a curse on humanity for centuries. The other curse is peoples need to have a psuedo parent figure 'lead' them, rather than think independently and take charge of their own lives.  Unfortunately, now the psychopaths have control of the nuclear button. Don't think for a minute that they would not try to destroy the entire planet if they thought they were going down. (Think Hitler and his statement during the final days of the 3rd Reich that the German people weren't worthy or strong enough and deserved to be destoyed for 'their failure'.)

Really, does it matter who is in charge of the banks?

Yes.

And you could talk about "who" it was were it any other group.

Not only is this wildly disproportionate power, it is a power protected by a logically absurd, knee jerk smear which reduces to "it is hate to mention how much power jews have over and relative to other groups"

When a tiny minority has an excess of power, that means the majority and other minorities, have less power than they should.  As to news media, it means a warped understanding of the outside world.

You also falsely equate "Jews" with religions here.  It is an ethno-cultural group primarily. Atheist Jew isn't an oxymoron, Atheist Catholic is.  Catholics who stopped believing in God don't keep going to Church.

Contingent aspect of history?  Huh?  This has been the case since before the battle of Hastings.  Guess who, in part, funded William the Conquerer? William of Orange?  Cromwell?

Not only is Hollywood largely and practically run by Jews - it has been that way for decades. Since they are  small minority, this means a concerted effort to keep it Jewish - a sort of "closed shop" at the top exec levels.

"anti-semite" is used, mostly, to prevent discussion of not just disproportionate Jewish power, but power that has been maintained, as Jewish, as against non-Jews, for extended periods of time.

No "conspiracy" need be summoned, you simply need to look at the incontestible facts of power and be willing to admit them.  Positing a conspiracy requires evidence of such...  but some things speak for themselves... res ipsa...   a small minority doesn't keep control of Hollywood studios, over decades, without a concerted effort to do so.

Jews are an incredibly highly organized group.  Within this country, and within France, and across national borders.  Cooperation and cohesion to some degree is inevitable, and not per se a bad thing...  but the disproportionate wealth and media influence has hijacked the foreign policy of more than a couple governments, and this influence is used to excuse Israel from reprehensible and unequivocal crimes.

I'm staunchly opposed to people lying, or making assumptions, or making conspiratorial claims without evidence, but I'm also opposed to people who, earnestly or not, cry "hate" when discussing power and influence and reasonable inferences made from examples of such power and influence.

It is dishonest, and meant merely to prevent a situation in which a small minority maintains its disproportionate power and wealth - necvessarily at the expense of the rest of us.

It is most concerning when it leads to justifications for ongoing wars, belligerance, and crimes against humanity - items which the US and Israel currently lead the world in on a global scale.

It is people crying anti-semite, to obfuscate discussions of Jewish power beyond their numbers {especially in a democracy - Jews contribute over half of privsate donations to both parties. Thinkk that makes us an honest broker in the middle east?  Why do we send Zionist Jews to represent AMERICANS generally??} who show no concern for the crimes of Israel, and the deaths and ethnic cleansing such engender, who ought to be ashamed of themselves.

For clarity and accuracy of conversation, we need to point out that not all Jews are Zionists and not all Zionists are Jews.

Insofar as the political ideology & movement of 'Zionism' seeks a homeland for the Jewish people, most rational & reasonable people/goyim probably don't have an issue with 'Zionism'.  Where they DO have an issue -- and a VERY legitimate issue -- is if or when it metastasizes/morphs into something bigger and more ambitious:  The (real or alleged) long-term goal of world domination, through leveraged control of Central Banking around the globe.  The other issue with Zionism that many people have, is that it still behaves as something very close to Apartheid towards the Palestinians -- who are, in fact, an "Indigenous People".  Whatever claims of "right of belonging" many modern Jews make to the real estate in Palestine, is rather watered down in terms of conventional property rights and lineage that is difficult to prove -- and impossible to prove in many cases, if we include the fact that many 'Jews' were converts from other regions of the world.  I'd argue that if you can't prove your property rights for the last 100 years, you're pretty much out of luck, and Squatters Rights prevail.

But we digress.  Let's get back to the main topic, shall we?

I wholeheartedly agree that Obama, as Bush before him, is scum of the earth and sucks donkey dick.

However, firing "top Generals" is a fan-fucking-tastic idea. Most people are ignorant about force structure and are not even remotely aware of how top-heavy the Army really is.

Most people do not understand the cost for the taxpayer to have all these General Officers. The savings from an elimination of 20% of the General officer slots would be eye-popping.

These Generals generate a truly gargantuan expense (each) and are an enormous drag on the Army's efficiency. Each General Officer needs a "Command", and this promotes the creation of all the phantom "commands" currently found in the US Army. These "commands" and all their subordinate (and redundant), stovepipe organizations eat up an enormous amount of taxpayer $$$ and resources.

I am certain beyond doubt, that the Army (alone) can eliminate 20-25% of the General officers, the "commands" they lead, and their subordinate organizations, without losing any ability to project power, perform their war-fighting function, and provide for the troops.

I could elaborate, but I am trying to keep it succint. I have not even mentioned the other branches of service.

To finish, let me just say that these redundant positions and organizations do not add value to the force and cannot survive even the most cursory cost-benefit analysis.

But both the bowlines are taut as would be expected to occur if the ship was being BLOWN OFF the jetty by the wind.

But then in this day and age we can expect lots of wind and happy endings for the chosen few.

If you want to talk about Russia and ruskih, to begin with, you should try to understand and remember the main pillars: Russian - is not a nationality. Russian - a state of mind. I am - Ukrainian.

It could also be Russian propaganda- perhaps they think that the average American sheeple is too dumb or MSM indoctrinated to figure out there are serious potential consequences to what's going on in Ukraine. "Cuba" sends a message that perhaps even a degenerate Boobus Americanus might remember from their indoctrination days, and if not- there's a large well-aged flock of geezers in Florida who remember what it was like the last time around, regardless of where in the country they were living at the time.

We have no idea what is on that thing or came with it under the sea. I think its some kind of deterrent real or bluff. Who here thinks Putin spends much time bluffing?

no evidence, but some food for thought-

If the Russians wanted to send a private message, all they had to do was send in an SSBN un-escorted, we'd never know, but the State most certainly would.

If the Russians simply wanted to sneak an SSBN into Cuba, they could have done so in the wake of a commercial vessel, and there would be no news to report.

As it stands, the Russians "appear" to have moved a relatively non-strategic surface naval asset, as well as potentially unknown submarine asset(s) into Cuba.

There is also the atypical "pre-announcement" about future foreign bases where there have been no contracts signed yet, and where following up with an official call lends credence to the otherwise laughable "pre-announcement"...

I get the feeling that the Russians are taking this seriously.

RiaNovosti reports defense minister Sergei Shoigu saying Russia plans "to expand permanent military presence outside its borders by placing military bases in a number of foreign countries," including Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Seychelles, and Singapore. "The talks are under way, and we are close to signing the relevant documents," Shoigu told reporters in Moscow.

Winston, it's a simple case of economics my boy. You take the third of the country that's worth having. That's the southern and eastern portion. You leave the debts and rest of the Ukraine to the EU. You get the ports, the factories, and some of the crop land. Of course this will be a separate country, you don't want to actually take full responsibility for it, just control it. (Think Obama and heath insurance)

Without getting into too much speculation or amateur-hour Game Theory forecasting, I'll wager that the two book-ends of possible scenarios are the Rock & Hard-place that the US is trying to put Russia into:

1. Do nothing significant and let the NATO Boa Constrictor keep squeezing.

2. Provoke Russia into regional war, which is FANTASTIC for the USD and USTs.  Note that UST sales have not been the best and it doesn't help if the Chinese don't buy new ones and the EU (Belgium/Brussels) has to step in with bits of promises being exchanged with the Fed.

Between these two extremes, I'll wager, is where the real music will play.  Russia will seek to increase what is technically called (in math) the "solution space", i.e. create many viable options, while the US/NATO will try to impose the opposite on them.

Given their proximity, etc, the Russians are better positioned to "turn the table" in the game of Revolutions, by turning central and western Ukraine into an unmanageable mess of bickering and fighting factions (leftists, centrists, rightists).  At the same time, using a Referendum (Plebiscite) in eastern Ukraine and Crimea, they can get the political mandate to use the military to secure peace and protect their interests and those of the populace.  And then there would be "fuck all" that the US/NATO could do, except have a hissy fit.

But if I were the Russians, I'd play both the Principle and Procedure game (court-room terms), to get the entire Ukrainian coast... thus preventing an end-run of oil+gas deliveries that avoid Gazprom pipelines to Ukraine and the EU.

I lack the concern for Russia because an even more dangerous problem exists: Our leaders and the bankers/corporations that fuck us all over. A Zerohedge user (forgot the name) awhile ago suggested that even though these bastards screwed us over, they are still our bastards so we should defend them.

No fucking way.

If there's a shit ton of SLBM-capable subs off our coast it's because 'our' bastards caused this to happen through their king-making, meddling, and empire building. Many signs point towards a totalitarian-themed America that (insert your favorite dictator here) would masturbate to on a daily basis. We've got compliant consumer whore zombie citizens, a spy apparatus both run by government and corporation seconded by none, a plethora of "happy-friendship" FEMA camps ready to either brainwash or slaughter us, and an MIC foaming at the mouth at the promise of a world war. Too many "plugged in" people that I talk to think the U.S. are the good guys in all of this -especially Syria, and we can do no wrong.

The U.S. isn't joking either, and it has made it clear that you can have any democratically elected leader you want so long as it's one of our guys. As far as I'm concerned this type of response from the likes of Russia and China is long overdue. I don't mean to come off as supporting Russia or China, because either way you slice it they're manipulative fucks just like the ones running our country and the E.U., but like a whale biologist I will calls it like I sees it.

When the SHTF I'm siding with the people (Option: C), and as far as I'm concerned neither side has our best interests in mind, so fuck em both.
