And The Person Who Foresaw It All Is...

Tyler Durden's picture

The was a time when everyone loved making fun of GOP vice presidential canidate Sarah Palin. It's her turn to get the final laugh.

As CBS recounts, in October 2008, after Russia's invasion of neighboring Georgia emerged as a foreign policy flashpoint in the homestretch of a heated campaign, Palin told an audience in Nevada, "After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

Just as amusing was the response to Palin's comments by foreign policy experts, Foreign Policy magazine, which said, "As we've said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario. And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel."

Coming just a few months after subprime turned out not to be contained despite everyone's fervent belief that it was, this is not all that surprising.

And now it's time to gloat: "I'm usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as 'an extremely far-fetched scenario' by the 'high-brow' Foreign Policy magazine," Palin wrote Friday.

"Here's what this 'stupid,' 'insipid woman' predicted in 2008," she added, before rehashing her prediction.

Talk radio host Mark Levin tweeted, "Palin not only knows where Russia is, but she knew what Putin would do to Ukraine with Obama as president."

Then again, back in 2008 a lot of people were also talking about hope and change. Five years later people have to look up the definition of hope, as for change, the best place to find it is in the 11 million people who have dropped out of the labor force in that time.

Absolutely spot on.  WTF is this shit, Tyler?!

As my page views continue to dwindle, I'll miss ZH more than ZH will miss me, but I don't have time for Palin apologists, The Diplomat's warmongering nonsense, Michael Synder's endless meaningless statistics, Simon Black's condescending douchebaggery, or the other filler published by this weekend shill-Tyler.

What the hell is wrong with you? Have another read of the article, it uses words like "laugh", "making fun" and "amusing", i.e. this is a snarky light-humor post. You know, like, it's the weekend, so not so serious and pissy all the time. You want to generally whine and slam zh for that?

Well, after I heard " dear fucking God" from my husband I had to ask what was amiss and he directed me here. I believe I will be on time out after this but let me say now I have no desire to become President. However, I have been told by many I would make an excellent dictator. I would clean up this town effectively, impartially and efficiently. And when my services are complete, I will give you all a gun to dispatch me quickly before the power of such an office would corrupt me to the bone.

You are right grand Tetons. I would NEVER run for public office and align myself with a band of corrupt thieves. And this, ultimately, is the problem with our country today.

You can bitch piss and moan all you want about the establishment, NWO, PTB, etc., just as I am want to do from time to time, but as long as we are bound to an electoral system as opposed to martial tyranny incarnate complete with the camps and friendly persuasions which right now at the Present (as opposed to past and future actualities or imagery) are Not, I'd suggest that there are some folks out there who just might be helpful with respect to rolling back some of the recent impositions upon our Natural God Given Rights.

And it might be helpful to lend the Principled a modicum of support.
Else, like the non voters, y'all get what you wish for.

the predominant 2 party race in many nations doesn't give anyone an actual choice. We sent an alternative party upstart Pauline Hanson of One Nation to jail on a scam instigated by our current Aussie PM Abbott.... but we're ignoring all that and sticking with a 2 party state otherwise it gets too confusing to know which 'footy' team to barrack for and too many names to remember when we get on the piss at a BBQ ....

We could be strong as Hercules and rich as Midas and would still have no business messing around with the Ukraine.

And I don't think Palin suggested otherwise.  Just that with a nincompoop in the drivers seat of the US, the rest of the world would invade each other all day long.  And so it is.

Which is not to offer any revisionist ideas like that McCain/Palin made a lot of sense.  It didn't.  But she was never as bad as made out, and has proved it by learning a *lot* since then.  Palin compared to Obama and Biden (and Hillary and Ketchup)?  I'd take Palin 2008 and I'd certainly take Palin 2014.

Hillary Cankles

RP would not have his stooge representatives making phone calls about installing 'Yatzy' the bankster scum while they meddled with the whole situation to the point of the coup, thereby instilling said bankster scum.

And, certainly afterwards, he wouldn't empty-suit a string of hollow bullshit, that really just says 'I am a major bought-off, sociopathic, puppet, pussy.'

Big difference.  Suggest you begin to pay attention.

This is a stopped clock being right twice a day.  Palin mentioned Ukraine because it was the closest Russia-bordering country to Georgia and her "prediction" took 6 years and a lot of intermediate happenings to "come true".

How about, the CIA recruited and organized street mobs to destabilize the elected government of a state on Russia's border. The mob aimed to demand membership in the American Empire. Conquest on the quiet.

The mobs weren't enough. They had to bring out the fascists for some real live gun battles. Now the Nazis are in charge, but they can be bought. Unless they can't.

Whether Putin takes advantage of Barry's neocon imperialism to do a little taking for himself, hard to say. Vlad's has acted more like an adult that our government.

The USA only goes to War with Nations that don't have the resources to defend themselves adequately and whose leaders are pitifully corrupted,

but nevertheless, always ends up losing.

Afghanistan's defenders were fighting with age old "enfields" in the main, barely fed, no shoes and goddamnit, "No icecream"; yet they have wopped the "mighty US War machine". "Ragheads", indeed. So many intelligent people, perceptive enough to see through the bullshit of Bernanke, Krugman, and the other invertebrates which comprise the field of economics, perceptive enough to see through the centrally planned 'capitalist' economy, and yet they still cling desperately to the biggest fraud of all, the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the US, an illusion which they were born into, will fight for, and, for most, will carry to their graves: the two-party system.

As the state religion, the two-party US political system is the best one ever devised. Because effective indoctrination begins early, it starts in the home and in the school. Television, radio, movies, print, and other media surround everyone with true believers and immerse them in theocratic reinforcements, including annual rituals like the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November pilgrimage.

The power of the state religion requires partisan division and hostility of the type strong enough to ruin friendships and tear apart families. It requires a belief in it so strong that, at a visceral level, the citizen-victims will divide others into groups of friends and enemies based upon where they fall on the one-dimensional, carefully crafted continuum of left/right, liberal/conservative, democrat/republican.

This was the mistake of the USSR. They had a one-party system which didn't even try to pretend that it was something else. A system like this can limp along indefinitely, powered solely by inertia, as long as things for most people don't get unbearably shitty. If things get really bad, though, it will collapse, because there is one entity, one party upon which the citizen-victims can place the blame, and their anger is focused and united.

The success of the one-party system in the United States, though, can be attributed to its ability to completely fool almost every US citizen-victim into believing in the two-party state religion. It's one of the most brilliant divide-and-conquer schemes ever created. The ruling party, the real one, is so successful at hiding in the shadows that virtually none of the citizen-victims has even the slightest clue that it exists.

This system works great during good times, because election hoopla and petty partisan bickering draws the attention of the citizen-victims away from what is really happening, allowing for massive undetected fraud, looting, and skimming. However, its true brilliance can only be appreciated during difficult, stressful, soul-wrenching times. Instead of being united in their anger and focused on those responsible, the citizen-victims turn on each other along ideological lines, hating and blaming the other side without understanding that, for them, there are no sides. They are subjects who are ruled, one and all.

The true beauty, though, of the two-party state religion is that it is self-reinforcing. As unrest grows, so does partisan divisiveness. This bitter partisan divisiveness, identical in every way to faith, is what keeps the state religion alive and strong. It is this left/right liberal/conservative religious fervor which keeps citizen-victims blinded to what is really happening to them.

Nothing will be fixed because most Americans, even intelligent and perceptive ones, are afflicted with a fanaticism for the state religion. They will dutifully and obediently make their pilgrimage every first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, knowing that things will get better if only their candidate is chosen as savior. Until the day they die, they will continue to worship the idol of their Donkey-Elephant god.

At conception the majority of the Tea Party were private citizens but you are correct they  allowed themselves to be infiltrated because our current political climate requires money, and lots of it.  At this point you're probably correct, the fall of our current leadership, will have to come from within their own ranks - but at least some people gave it a shot.  I guess it's what I find ironic about ZH, we're always begging for the sheep to wake up but when they show signs they are ridiculed.  It's like when the fast food workers wanted to strike for $15 an hour.  Was it a bad idea, most definitly, but at least it was sign of life.

A brilliant summation of the system.  I am however beginning to see a sea change in the ranks of the disenfranchised.  It is even beginning to transcend race.  When the system no longer works for them, they are beginning to see that there is really not a dimes worth of difference between the two parties.  Some of the most enraged are the true believers in the hope and change mime.  Those with superior intelligence have grasped the magnitude of the con.  This is particularly true with the thirty somethings.

Politically we are in the 1850’s.   The current welfare state which includes all of the subsidies to government workers, corporations, banks, farmers, and the FSA  et al  cannot be sustained under a regime of shrinking energy supplies.  We are going to witness the death of one or both of the two parties as factions take over the politics of regions within this nation.

"She's still a stupid cunt" I don't think she is that stupid, she's not your average state department "Fuck the EU" stupid or "What difference does it make Senator" stupid or  actually as dumb as Maxine Waters dumb as a fence post stupid, or the Queen of fucking dumb Nancy Pelosi. In fact, Palin has absolutely no power to affect my life which is a good thing. But if the kind of hatred directed at this powerless chick could be harnessed to overthrow the really stupid left wing nuts "cunts" that are strapping on a 12" rubber cock and butt reaming you daily, that would be a net positive for the country. But like the bear said to the hunter after mauling him and butt fucking him everytime he came after the bear "Im beggining to think you like it up the ass".

Other then that, I think you could probably get away with calling the afore mentioned women "dumb cunts" right in front of their pussy whipped Marvin Milktoast husbands, on the other hand, Palins husband would no doubt round house kick your one tooth out of your head.

The criticisms of Sarah Palin are not MISOGYNIST. (Note the Spelling. The root of that word, Misogynist originates from the Greek word, GYNE, and is the same root as used in GYNEcologist)

The criticisms are VALID as Ms. Palin has demonstrated a lack of Historical knowledge. That is critical when dealing with Political Decisions so that mistakes are not repeated.

e.g. Paul Revere did not make his Midnight Gallop to warn the British as Ms. Palin asserted.

As for attacks on Pelosi's lack of intelligence she is DESERVING. Personally I find that Feinstein and Boxer are Graver Threats as they are much brighter and more culpable as a result. (Graver means leading toward the Grave, the Earth, the "Dirt Nap"...DEATH.)

But I cannot justify a misogynist attack on these women anymore than I can justify a misogynist attack on Palin as it smacks of HYPOCRISY. That negatively impacts CREDIBILITY.

Then you lack credibility because you have been attacking Palin relentlessly and the criticisms of her are MYSOGYNIST!

You seem to have bought the MSNBC propaganda if you think that Feinstein and Boxer are much brighter.

Here's one of the stupid things that Barbara Boxer said:

"Those who survived the San Francisco earthquake said, "Thank God, I'm still alive." But of course, those who died, their live will never be the same again."

Here's one of the stupid things that Diane Feinstein said about the president's remark that you could keep your health plan:

"You could have kept your health plan up until Obamacare was passed."
