Russia Warns Kerry's "Threats Are Unacceptable" As Europe Weighs Sanctions

Tyler Durden's picture

Russia has lashed out following comments from US Secretary of State John Kerry:

  • *RUSSIA SAYS KERRY THREATS ARE `UNACCEPTABLE'
  • *RUSSIA SAYS KERRY ISN'T ANALYSING SITUATION IN UKRAINE
  • *KERRY IS USING COLD WAR SLOGANS, RUSSIA FOREIGN MINISTRY SAYS

In comments on the Russian foreign ministry website, Lavrov added:

  • *RUSSIAN MEASURES IN UKRAINE ARE `REASONABLE,' `LEGAL': FOR.MIN.
  • *U.S., ALLIES IGNORED VIOLENCE, RUSSOPHOBIA IN UKRAINE PROTESTS
  • *G-8 HALT OF PREPARATIONS FOR SUMMIT IS UNCONSTRUCTIVE: RUSSIA

In addition, EU ministers debate freezing the assets of Ukrainians responsible for corruption and "targeted measures" against Russia if no change of course is undertaken.

  • *EU Ministers Debate Freezing Assets of Ukrainians Responsible for Corruption – Draft Text
  • *EU Debates Calling Russian Crimea Actions “Invasion” – Draft Text
  • *EU Commends Ukraine’s Response to Russia Actions – Draft
  • *EU Will Suspend Visa Negotiations with Russia – Draft Text
  • *EU Debating Placing Arms Embargo on Russia If No Change of Course
  • *EU Could Prepare Future “Targeted Measures” vs Russia If No Change in Course – Draft

Perhaps most notable though this morning was the following headline:

  • *RUSSIA DEP FORMIN KARASIN SPOKE ON UKRAINE W/ CHINA COUNTERPART
  • *RUSSIA: CHINA EXPRESSED UNDERSTANDING OF ITS UKRAINE ANALYSIS
  • *RUSSIA, CHINA DISCUSSED UKRAINE'S INTERNAL POLITICAL CRISIS

In other words, China was well aware of the plan and appears comfortable taking sides.

Never held accountable for:

1)Benghazi

2)IRS Scandal

3)Fast and Furious

4)No prosecutions of executives who played a big role in causing the financial crisis

5)No prosecutions for the fraud at Fannie Mae and failure of Fannie and Freddie

"Fannie Mae engaged in "extensive financial fraud" over six years by doctoring earnings so executives could collect hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses, federal officials said yesterday in a report that portrayed a company determined to play by its own rules."

And the Squid's tentacles were there too.

"The result was a company whose managers engaged in one questionable maneuver after another, including two transactions with investment banking firm Goldman Sachs Group Inc. that improperly pushed $107 million of Fannie Mae earnings into future years."

The basis of Russophobia, was about communism.  Without communism, trying to inspire any sort of fear of the Russians is just ridiculous and  pathetic rhetoric from desperate idiots.

During the cold war you could seriously argue, with plenty of evidence, that the Russians would come along with the KGB, the Party Commissars, the whole Soviet police state apparatus etc.  What is the modern fear of the Russians based on?  That they will come along and tax you at 12% flat?

Really, Putin has spent 14 or so years expelling the tentacles of the tribe from control of Russian industry and finance, the new Russia does understand who the true Bolshevik monsters were, and that they're still in firm control of the West.

Info for consideration...

 .

RUSSIAN INTERESTS abound in Eastern/Southern Ukraine of which Putin will act according to Russia’s 2010 Military Doctrine.

“If there is a direct threat to our national interests we will defend ourselves,” said the National Security Council upon issuance of the Doctrine.

Indeed, there IS a threat to Russia’s national interests in Ukraine. Nuland’s JewSA wants to weaken Russia’s regional and global influence via a three-pronged attack:

1) Bring Ukraine’s Eastern industries—economically tied to Russia—into IMF’s clutches; 2) Cancel Russia’s lease of its Black Sea Fleet in Crimea’s Sevastopol warm water port, cutting off Russia’s access to the Mediterranean; 3) Install a NATO base in its place.

First of all, Eastern Ukraine’s industries are inextricably linked to Russia’s Military Industrial Complex supporting their military bases.

Second, Yats The Yid’s deputy prime minister just called for the cancellation of Russia’s lease, known as the Kharkiv Agreements.

Putin will not allow this to happen. His warm water access to Iran, Syria, and Egypt depends on it. He’s acting fast, catching the JewSA with its pants down as he did in South Ossetia in 2008.

"The Ukrainian Air Force 204th tactical aviation brigade based near Sevastopol has pledged allegiance to the authorities of Crimea. It is manned by more than 800 troops and has almost 50 planes, although most of them are not operational." (rt.com)

.... this "although most of them are not operational" will be also true for the rest of the ukrainian military. so why do they keep provocating russia? who will fight their war for them?

Mon, 03/03/2014 - 10:28 | 4501176 economisery

so why do they keep provocating russia?

Because the extremists in Kiev are calculating that the West in now committed towards completing the coup, and thus will instruct NATO to step in and help them.

I think they could end up severely disappointed though.

Russia has now made it very clear that it means business and Kerry and Merkel, despite all their bravado, are now becoming increasingly anxious and second-guessing themselves.

On top of that, China's implicit support of events in Crimea will no doubt have emboldened Russia.

Split Not easily accomplished because the middle of Ukraine, east and west of Dnieper River inhabited by those loyal both ways which means any split involves ethnic cleansing, population dislocation and violence .
Interfering in Ukraine by outside interests is a bad idea and will lead to revival of old territorial disputes, animosities and rivalries. Trying to sever Russian ties to Ukraine while they have tactical advantage is asking for War. Don't we have enough examples of spreading democracy in Middle East at a horrendous cost in life and treasure ? Obama would do well to get off the golf course and election circuit and instead reign in Neocons and special interest . Perhaps member nations within the EU will put pressure on US to ease off as they would be adversely impacted by War and have closer memories of WWII. Just hoping.

Dude...Russia's markets are getting killed here.

I do agree with comment below that the USA (and Great Britain I might add) are behaving in a VERY aggressive manner...but hey, acting pre-emptoraly in one sphere begets it in another.

I think the window for Putin to act is closing MUY RAPIDO here. The now "free people of Ukraine" are getting an enormous upwelling of support from what is a Europe that really hasn't had much to "root for" in many years.

Once you see a million people show up in "Maiden Square" then Putin will be getting a message that "he really doesn't fit in too well here."

Friends in China? Bwahahahahaha. That's not gonna help much here.

There would be an oil and gas demand (and resultant price) surge, but not export (supply) surge. The US lacks the GTL facilities for gas export, and doesn't have the refining capacity to produce an extra several million barrels per day for Europe... So the US consumer takes it up the ass to enrich big oil.

US strategery at it finest...

Kerry almost lied his way to a war with Syria just a few months ago - his hypocrisy is infinite:

The American media has blacked out an account by Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh demonstrating that President Barack Obama and the US government lied when they claimed to have proof that the Syrian government carried out a sarin gas attack last August on areas near Damascus held by US-backed “rebels.”

Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, US ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power and other top officials declared categorically that the August 21 attack on Eastern Ghouta, which reportedly killed hundreds of people, had been carried out by the Syrian military. They, along with the leaders of Britain and France, sought to use the gas attack to stampede public opinion behind their plans to attack Syria, cripple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, and install a puppet government.

Correct.  Especially, once energy prices skyrocket (as they already are).

Watch out China. The USSA is trying to box in Russia so it can isolate China as part of its global hegemon game. China and Russia will have to boost weapons systems and ability to strike major US cities. It is inevitable that the USSA is attempting to use war as a means of humbling opposition just as it has broken most West European nations.

No bilateral talks as only one side is constitutionally legit, so no room to negotiate, only a rebel force occupying Kiev, so no govt, so no negotiations. If the Ukraine navy felt the same way that would help explain their rapid defection.

All this shit ... for what, exactly? I'm not a diplomat but I don't understand why it was ever such a brilliant idea that Ukraine would join or line up with the EU, a western Europe organization ... Ukraine is naturally linked close to Russia, not Germany and France. Egged on by you know who, the western governments have f*cked with what was normal over there and now they started a bunch of trouble. It didn't need to be this way. Leave it the f*ck alone!

You seem to be giving the Ukrainians orders.

Try it "over there" and see how it goes over.
This ain't the Cold War anymore and that is a HUGE frontier Russia must now defend.

The strategy is a good one...simply "take Ukraine"...but they are failing to execute. This will only serve to embolden the LEGITIMATE authorities of Ukraine who so far have done nothing untoward to the Russians.

"And that's just in the Ukraine." You have Romania, the Baltic States, Finland. I guarantee the "Lukushenko line" is ringing off the hook right now. That's GERMAN real estate.

A rough translation of the Russian response so far:

  • *RUSSIA SAYS KERRY THREATS ARE `UNACCEPTABLE'

You are an impotent moron and we know that.  Fuck off.

  • *RUSSIA SAYS KERRY ISN'T ANALYSING SITUATION IN UKRAINE

You are a moron but then again we knew that

  • *KERRY IS USING COLD WAR SLOGANS, RUSSIA FOREIGN MINISTRY SAYS

Quit whining.  You fucked up big time.

  • *RUSSIAN MEASURES IN UKRAINE ARE `REASONABLE,' `LEGAL': FOR.MIN.

You  started it, we will finish it.  Two can play the intervention game.

  • *U.S., ALLIES IGNORED VIOLENCE, RUSSOPHOBIA IN UKRAINE PROTESTS

Hypocrisy has its limits.

  • *G-8 HALT OF PREPARATIONS FOR SUMMIT IS UNCONSTRUCTIVE: RUSSIA

We don't give two fucks about meaningless organizations and hollow words.  BTW you are all bankrupt anyway.

EU butthurt whining sniped.

On to the important part:

  • *RUSSIA DEP FORMIN KARASIN SPOKE ON UKRAINE W/ CHINA COUNTERPART

China has a proposition for Russia.

  • *RUSSIA: CHINA EXPRESSED UNDERSTANDING OF ITS UKRAINE ANALYSIS

China:We scratch your back, you scratch our back.

Russia: You got a deal.

  • *RUSSIA, CHINA DISCUSSED UKRAINE'S INTERNAL POLITICAL CRISIS

China:You know in China we have a situation involving a certain island...  And your handling of Ukraine has been most instructive....

Russia:You got a deal.

Folks, I think Obama is a clown, no doubt. Our theiving ways suck, no doubt, our culture has NO moral high ground to stand on.

I think we have assets in this game of RISK that can make it hard on Russia. It would make it hard on us too. If anyone who is not Obama who has two brain cells to rub together really got in the driver's seat and deployed our real assets (financial warfare, cyber warfare) Russia may have the fuel spigot, but we can still fuck them up pretty bad. Putin will not back down in a game of chicken. This can get weird. We better hope this is just a big show, but I am begining to think not.

I feel surprisingly relaxed about this so far MsC., the US-EU sanctions are going to escalate it though so Russia will do some sanctioning as well, and they either have a big meeting and decide on an agreed way forward to sort this out, or shit will then get real. In the mean time Kiev finances and banks kaput. Virtually all armed forces are abandoning Kiev at this point, so who will really fight?

I do have to laugh at the psychology underpinning it all. I call it "precipice fatigue" one gets tired of always being on the edge, so you eventually relax because there is nothing else to do the precipice is always there. If you watch the news close enough it is all crisis, all the time. It's those nukes that make me pause. And I feel guilty about being a member of the empire. What ever befalls us, we have brought it on ourselves. I can fool myself that there has been a moral slide, but it has always been this way, felt this way. I did not live through it, but the Cuban missile crisis had to have been a trip.

Wish we all could leave each other alone. There are the few with access to the resources, who want still more, that won't let that happen.

Thanks for your reply.

If the American people truly cared about their Liberty and future direction, G.W. and The "Dick" Cheney would either be wearing orange jumpsuits after the beginning of there second hijacked election and a new investigation into the "collapse of the towers", or would be swinging from the ends of ropes.

There would never have been a President Remus 1st Term or 2nd Term(.) Better still nobody outside of Chicago or Hawaii would know about him other than the fact he was a U.S. Senator.

Well, if Putin will be very angry, it may give the Taliban 1000 new Russian MANPADS and 3,000 new Russian RPG - Hashim.
In this case, all military equipment in Afghanistan, will be quickly disappear. And thus, eliminating the need take back any military equipment back from Afghanistan to the United States.

Russia blocks access to 13 web communities of Ukrainian nationalists

Russia’s communications watchdog has blocked access to 13 communities of Ukrainian nationalist organizations on VKotakte (InContact) social media website, ITAR-TASS reported. They “advocated the activities of Ukrainian nationalist groups and directly provoked the Russian people to stage acts of terrorism and participate in unauthorized mass rallies,” said the office of Prosecutor General, which ordered the blocking. On Monday, it has appealed to the Federal Service for Supervision of Legislature in mass media (Roskomnadzor), demanding also to block copies of Ukrainian nationalists’ statements possibly circulated on the internet.

There is absolutely no need for any body to worry about that because corruption is endemic in the Eurozone and as far as I know nobody has been inconvenienced one iota.

There is ample evidence of skullduggery in relation to the purchase of submarines and tanks by Greece from the Germans.

There are, however, two legal questions here.

Who received the bribes and more importanly to my mind, who paid them.

Welcome to Europe, where we know all about corruption, we thrive on it.

Note to barry:

Of this policy, when pursued recklessly, Bismarck well understood the danger.  "Prestige politics," as he called them, he hated.  In February, 1888, he laid down in a well-known speech what he held to be the true principle.  "Every Great power which seeks to exert pressure on the politics of other countries, and to direct affairs outside the sphere of interest which god has assigned to it, carries on politics of power, and not of interest; it works for prestige."

*U.S., ALLIES IGNORED VIOLENCE, RUSSOPHOBIA IN UKRAINE PROTESTS

_________________________________________

'Americans' did not ignore it. They looked for it.

The first 'american' revolution in Ukraine quickly confirmed that the grip of Russia over Ukraine was too deep to simply hope that an election process will rip Ukraine from Russia's clutches.
Pro russia candidates were elected (were they the woman who was jailed for money laundering or the fleeing guy)
And this could have kept for a long time.

Ukrainian people did not vote right and when this happens, 'americans' get people to pay for their votes.

So 'americans' stepped up their game and unleashed the nazi hordes on the power, fully knowing that these nazis would provide what is needed: hatred toward the russians.

First, an ethnical cleansing must be performed so that elections delivered the candidates wished by 'americans'. Now in the west of Ukraine, Russians are hunting down on the streets, beaten or threatened to death.

'Americans' have a long experience in ethnical cleansing so it suits.

'Americans' think long term. Their open alliance with Nazis is not a desesperate move but a well thought plan.

The ukrainian president, the one that suited the 'american' wishes, despite his position of power, was unable to find a spouse. 'Americans' provided him with one: a US American whose parents were born in Ukraine, who was known to be close to the nazi factions in Ukraine. She has a background of serving in the US administration in the humanitarian sector or something. It is quite the habit of 'americans' to name people with peculiar ideologies in position of humanitarian tasks.

The situation proceeded parallely to Palestinian elections.

Such is "democracy" as imposed US-style. Voters cast their votes as whished. If inconsequencies of results bring reliation punctually, just have to bear with it.

May be next time voters exhibit proness to vote the correct way aka 'american' way. Sweet air of freedom uniformously smells betterly through unbroken nose.

A J EW BANKER IN CHARGE OF THE EAST

The self-proclaimed government in Kiev has appointed two of Ukraine’s richest men to govern large industrial regions in the defiant east. One of the reasons for the Maidan protest was the influence the rich have on politics in the country.

The appointments of new governors of Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk Regions are among 18 made on Sunday by Kiev, which is struggling to consolidate power after the coup which ousted President Yanukovich last month.

The newly-appointed Dnepropetrovsk governor is Igor Kolomoysky, Ukraine’s third-wealthiest man, with an estimated fortune of $2.4 billion. He co-owns the informal commercial group Privat, which includes Ukraine’s largest bank Privatbank, which Kolomoysky heads, as well as assets in the oil, ferroalloys and food industries, agriculture and transport.

A former ally of Yulia Tymoshenko, Kolomoysky reportedly had a falling out with her and refused to finance her election campaign in 2010, which the ex-prime minister subsequently lost to Yanukovich. Kolomoysky was reported to be a principal sponsor of the UDAR party, which is one of the three fueling the street campaign to oust Yanukovich. Kolomoysky has a DUAL Ukrainian-Israeli citizenship and controls his business empire from Switzerland.

The new governor of Donetsk Region is Sergey Taruta, who is estimated to worth around $2 billion, putting him among the top-10 wealthiest people in Ukraine. He heads ISD, one of the biggest mining and smelting companies in the world, and also own Donetsk-based Metallurg Football Club.
