Hello HillaryCare: ObamaCare Deadline Extended Beyond Obama's Term

Tyler Durden's picture

In what is becoming an epic embarrassment, the WSJ reports that the Obama administration announced today that consumers can keep insurance plans that don't comply with the federal health law for another two years, pushing a potential firestorm over cancellations and broken promises that "you can keep your health plan". As The Hill adds, the unprecedented move will protect vulnerable Democrats in the midterm elections by staving off a wave of cancellation notices and for some consumers, rather stunningly, Obamacare will not be in place for all Americans when President Obama leaves office. Sickeningly, the administration explicitly gave cover to 13 vulnerable Democratic lawmakers by saying the extension was developed in “close consultation” with those members.

Yet another extension (Via WSJ),

The Obama administration announced Wednesday that consumers can keep insurance plans that don't comply with the federal health law for another two years, pushing a potential firestorm over cancellations until after midterm elections.

Previously, some consumers could keep insurance plans that didn't comply with the 2010 Affordable Care Act until roughly the end of this year, as long as their state regulators and insurance company allowed it. Now, consumers will have up to an additional two years to do so, putting their plans in place until roughly 2016.

But the farce gets worse (Via The Hill),

The policy also means that one of the key features of the Affordable Care Act — minimum healthcare benefit requirements — will not be in place for all Americans when President Obama leaves office.

The administration's spin...

Senior administration officials insisted that the change will not substantially alter the Affordable Care Act and emphasized that their focus was on flexibility for individuals.

But the reality is politics as usual...

President Obama and many Democratic lawmakers made promises that consumers could keep their current coverage under the healthcare law, and Republicans were eager to use those statements as leverage in their effort to retake the Senate.

The administration explicitly gave cover to 13 vulnerable Democratic lawmakers such as Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Rep. Ron Barber (D-Ariz.) by saying the extension was developed in “close consultation” with those members.

Meaning that you can keep your health plan (well beyond the Tea Party's original demands that were so rancorously disavowed last year by the Democrats)...

The policy prolongs the administration's “keep your plan” fix from last fall and applies to the individual and small-group insurance markets, potentially affecting 12.5 million people, officials said.

The timetable will allow consumers to renew old health plans for the last time on Oct. 1, 2016, meaning some plans will continue into 2017 under the next president.

Administration officials denied that the 2016 campaign season will see its own wave of cancellation notices, predicting that most people will have migrated into the new marketplaces by then.

Welcome to HillaryCare...

That's funny, he seems to be giving the same message to the congress over and over.

The congress doesn't seem overly perturbed by it either.

Here at Fight Club, you so much as look at someone crossways and it on like donkey kong.

Maybe we should adjourn ZH and reconvene at the Capital and get all jiggy with it.

I wouldn't mind seeing them bring back the whole "pistols at dawn" thing.  But updated- they each get a Five Seven with a full clip and it's broadcast on Pay Per View.  We'd get that place whipped into shape pretty quick and pay off a huge chunk of the national debt at the same time.

We've constantly been told by this admin that the law is the law, and ACA is law. But, this admin changes ACA on a whim to suit their motives. So- if the "other" party gets their man in the WH, does he/she get to change ACA the way he/she wants? After all, the current batch of idiots are setting that precedent.

To bring a lawsuit you must have "standing".

To have standing you must show you have been damaged.

The WH attorneys vetted all this.  No one is damaged by the delay.

It's time to quit lying to ourselves and admit we have a mentally ill president.

He suffers from delusions of grandeur - believing that all he has to do is wave his hand and it is now reality. King Canute is his role model.

This is the result of his pathological lying - he lies about anything and everything - telling the world whatever he wants it to believe regardless of the reality surrounding his pronouncements. He is increasingly disconnected from reality.

He is kept afloat by a tight circle of enablers who cover for him and spin his lies. But that is changing.

I am making this statement not to be mean, but rather because it is time to seriously consider that Barack Obama is not mentally healthy. I am saying this because he is continuing to run farther and farther away from reality in his actions, and believes that whatever he says – becomes the made-over reality that exists only in his mind.

Take his statement that "100-million" people have signed up for ObamaCare - that's nearly 1/3 of the entire 315-million person population of the US. It is a number that prima fascia is irrational.

But Obama stated it as a fact anyway to his Obamabots in Organizing for America. They showed their lack of rational relationship by accepting the number - regardless of its obvious irrational ability to be true. As an aside, it shows that these people are brain-dead, and just accept that whatever Obama says is the truth - with no rational vetting whatsoever.

That's truly scary.

But scarier still is this: NO ONE in the WH dared correct him. No statement came out saying so much as issuing the typical lame excuse that he "misspoke." Nothing. The WH enablers fell silent (as did the Looney Tunes Left MSM).

Why?

This is what makes their silence so scary: It means that the WH aides are at a point where they so fear the mad king's wrath that they will abandon reality for his irrational fantasies. They will no longer be a wall of reality constraining his thinking to the Real World.

In short, they are no longer Gatekeepers, but rather like “Alice in Wonderland,” they are the cards painting the roses red for the insane Queen of Hearts.

"She wanted white - then said what a fright, so now she's wants them red instead; we're painting the roses red, we're painting the roses red - we can't say no we won't, because if we don't, she'll want our heads instead! So we're painting the roses red . . ."

I realize that take from Alice in Wonderland goes over the heads - or should I say through the air-heads - of the Obamabots. But what do you expect from people who passively accept 100-million people being signed up for ObamaCare?

That is mental disconnect. That is insanity. That is Barack Obama.

Don't apologize for thinking him ill; he is ill.

And this latest exercise in waving his hand, and thinking that reality magically changes when he does, shows Barack Obama is disconnected from reality, and must be removed from office before his mental illness drives him to even more desperate, irrational thinking - and even more dangerous, irrational actions.

All of this redefining the rules again and again is going to bite the D team in the ass after an R team member eventually takes the reigns again.

Since the executive branch has full control over the program, the R team can simply negate everything without even going to congress. This is why it was doomed from the start. Obama was so arrogant he thought the D team would be in control forever.

Let have a show of hands of "conservatives" who:

1) bought the "weapons of mass delusion" joke, hook line and sinker?

2) didn't realize (being dumbasses) that the "Patriot" act wasn't patriotic?

3) still think Snowdon is a traitor?

Yeah,  thought so...

I suppose it's appropriate you put "conservatives" in quotation marks, because no person who is truly interested in conserving what is left of Western Civilization ever 1) believed Wolfowitz and company when they "settled on something everyone could agree on" regarding the WMD farce, 2) thought the unPatriot Act was anything but an attack on American civil liberties as described in the Bill of Rights, or 3) think the Snowden revelations are tantamount to treason.

Have you ever met any Americans? I get the feeling you believe whatever anti-American media publication you read in your part of the world. If you have, how many told you they were conservative? Of them, how many told you they refuse to vote for the Party of Bush, which stopped defending conservative interests in the 1980s, and write in 3rd party candidates whenever possible?

Dude, I know as many conservatives (without quotes) as I do progressives/liberals without quotes, none.

Everybody loves Big-Gov.   "Conservatives" love Big-Gov and vote Red Team so (you know) the genitals have proper regulation, and the "Progressive/Liberal" love Big-Gov and vote Blue-Team because they can smother everybody with "Keynesian" love and aleviate their guilt.

The "Conservatives" and "Progressives" have - together - battled each other to the top of Mt Facsism.   And the top 1% was laughing at them all the way to the top.

Now, how many "Conservatives" do you know have been voting Red Team because of "those people".

Yeah,  me too...

Re:   I get the feeling you believe whatever anti-American media publication you read in your part of the world.

BTW,  Sarah Palin told me I wasn't a REAL Merican.   Had something to do with questin' the motives of this great-n-glorious country.   She's a typical "conservative".  (know anybody who voted for her.)

I happened to be born in Chicago, and lived to see the Vietnam war and just missed the draft.

Now THERE was a great patriotic war, right?     Remember all the unpatriots who were against that?  Like Jane Fonda?  Who turned out to be right?

"Conservatives" can't even figure out what patriotism is.   And it's NOT doing anything the government says, including following the slow-motion eagles and flags of Faux patriots.

Wed, 03/05/2014 - 19:38 | 4514136 thatthingcanfly

There's a great book about the Vietnam debacle, "Dereliction of Duty," by McMaster, a history professor at West Point. You should check it out. Vietnam was an embarrassment and a blight on 20th century American history.

That said, Hanoi Jane Fonda should have been hung for high treason on the White House lawn. Next to her should have hung Hanoi John Kerry. If you are not aware of the impact these two traitors had on American POWs captured by the North Vietnamese, you have been asleep for the last 40 years.

It may be that the only Americans you've met who self-identify as conservative are card-carrying Republicans. This is something I find myself very frustrated with regularly. Of Team Bush, which started reckless Wilsonian military adventures overseas in regions where there was no US strategic interest, refused to roll back the abortion holocaust when given the chance, destroyed 1st Amendment liberties with the unPatriot Act, basically repealed US immigration laws with blatantly unconstitutional amnesty legislation, and even voiced support of a renewal of the 1994 Clinton "assault weapons ban" when it sunset in 2004, all one needs to ask is, "With conservatives like these, who the hell needs liberals?"

Talk to your Republican friends about these things and you'll discover who the real conservatives are. There is absolutely no reason for a conservative American to vote for the Stupid Party.

Re:  There is absolutely no reason for a conservative American to vote for the Stupid Party.

Unless they are stupid.   Or,  believe the stupid-party WILL let them get even with "those people".

Disagree about Fonda.   I hated her too when I was a young dumbasses.    But, the only people who kept this young patriotic dumbasses from getting killed in a pointless war was the "hippies" I hated so much for being "unpatriotic".

The worship of the state is what defines "conservatives" and "liberals".

Funny that.

Mars, says:

" time to quit lying to ourselves and admit we have a mentally ill president."

one must remember two of our last presidents had NO FATHER. in the family as kids..both had /have as main advisors Women, Hill and Val Jarret.

both were/are constantly doing things without self control and then speak the big lies, no sex with that women- type stuff.

why they were selected for Potus? because of the trama of a poor upbringing, they could be used and they have no core set of values, my god a kid who had an african father (maybe) who disowned him -then a step dad no one has ever interviewed who had him live in SE Asia, far from his birthplace and grand parents (maybe)...they both became Potus, and both are unstable, would you trust clinton for 20 minutes with a teenage daughter? most would not..yet Potus he became. NWO elites know their man.
