More lies, propaganda, or for once, the truth? Just out from Time's Simon Shuster:
BREAKING: Crimea TV reporting that Russians have begun storming Ukraine air-force base on the peninsula, ramming the gates with a truck

Then again, considering the source is disinformation central Ukraine Pravda, take it with a huge grain of salt.

its actually rather obvious that the universe was created... the problem is that people don't stop and think how might it have been done, and instead dismiss the idea as crude superstition... when in fact, the contrary is true... the science is complex to the point where it still appears like magic to most:
http://www.inquisitr.com/437451/our-universe-might-be-a-computer-simulation-scientists-test-new-theory/
you mean like a matchhead in a giants pocket? amazing
john39, if so then there's a hope to move to an alternate planet where there are less stupid, less thugs, and perhaps no banksters... lol
Abi. +1
You just described a very concise, abbreviated version of Pascals Wager. It was the seminal argument in game decision theory.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal's_Wager
I like Pascal's wager as he was a Mathematician.
I like it a lot better as the Math demonstrates it so well.
Either the Universe was an accident and a chance happenstance, or, it was designed. If it was designed then one must infer a designer.
The odds that this Universe happened by chance are extremely remote. Of course the number is so small that it is technically an ABSURDITY, by definition, and it approaches that of an INFINITESIMAL.
World renowned Physicist Roger Penrose has calculated those odds. I have posted them so many times before that I am going to be lazy...and not.
One thing that I find curious about the atheists...They claim to believe in rational and reasonable thought. They claim to revere the Empirical Sciences.
However when I demonstrate the odds of a chance manifestation of the Universe is an irrational and unreasonable stance then they choose to reject the science....WHAT THEY CLAIM THAT THEY VALUE. It is so laughable.
At least I know that they will not be able to claim, in judgment, that they did not know. That would be the Lie of all Lies.
Go ahead and bet on your infinitesimal odds, Flak. You deserve the Hell that you will inherit.
Betting on a loser.... I will wager that he goes home from the Casinos broke and in debt.
LMAO
The wise and their stumbling blocks...
Pascal's Wager is not a proof by any stretch...
It is for agnostics who are worried about covering their asses...
There are many that do not suffer from any lack of surety in the matter...
----
As for the origins of the Universe, Roger is pretty smart guy, but he ain't the final word on this matter...
You talk exactly like one of those "intelligent designers", so I suspect that are you going to tell me next that Darwin was wrong?
He is neither right, nor worng, there is still a missing link my friend. Intellignet design is all around you, and all of it did not come from man. You have the right to say what you do. I don't think the Wager was meant to be a 'proof' as much as a logical statement of fact.
There are matters of faith and matters of science and they both have their unanswered questions...
What we have learned is that faith has been a very poor guide to objective truth when applied abstractly...
Pascals wager is not that at all, it is recipe to evaluate your best course of action in cases where your information is incomplete...
Thanks for the exchange.....
I beg to differ, what about the sense of right vs wrong, it is a good guide, one that even says love your enemy? Do you think that good vs bad does not exist in this world? True good vs true evil? Just look around the world right now? There is always the ying and the yang, just like a coin, two sides to all of them.
Tis good to banter these things about...
Another time, another place...
It's the brain they got me, sometimes I actually use it, other times not so much! hehe
Abi,
the Bible has been shown to be wrong in so many places, that I will gladly take my chances...
There are no end of internal inconsistencies, for a lighthearted introduction there is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB3g6mXLEKk
There is plenty of other more scholorly theological works outlining more examples...
Moreover, any purported Book of God that is to be at the foundation of moral and ethnical code which clearly condones slavery is obviously wanting... Funny how that never got cleared up with a statement from on high in the last 2000 years...
Now, there is very good wisdom in the Bible, however, most of which is derivative of the earlier Stoic philosophical thought....
Oh, and the ressurection is clearly a rehashed version of the earlier Egyptian tale of Osiris...
-------
Yeah, I have chewed on it, found it wanting, and spat it out...
Flak, I hope you see this post...I understand where you are coming from, and you'll get no judgement from me. Love you like a brother, so to speak. Please read Halley's Bible Dictionairy...not trying to influence you at all, not that I could from a keyboard; however, you seem like a learned man.
Yes, one can understand and apply the essence of the Christian message without swallowing the superstitutious hokum...
And that should be the real takeaway from it... Not that it has ever really been the case in practice...
Takover On ...
No problem...everyone from YouTube knows Russians bad driving..ignore...
I think we have a winner here!
More like a bag of salt if you ask me.
Well now that Reuters confirms it goddammit it MUST be true.
Someone broke their server, all i can see is line noise.
excellent diplomatic work Foreign Minister Lavrov!
You have now seized two busted up Mig-25's and an Ak-47.
I know..."the intelligence said there were suppose to be 40 fully operational Mig-384's there."
If this is true, it's probably more about radars and anti aircraft assets and less about Mig's and Ak's.
agreed, remove the AA C&C and fly around with Su-25s, Mi-24s, etc. to cover the push into Eastern Ukraine
FORWARD!
forward to the medicine cabinet...
You seem to like being the little retard boy of this site...
perhaps i should shove you out of helicopter Argentinian style then "little Angel of Joy. Go ahead...wave that Soviet Flag...i have no problem with President Putin or Russia or whatever games they wish to play in the Crimea.
have a pity, perhaps the disability is related to some brain function as well!
Who was talking about how much Putin has too lose? Don't ever view another country/culture through the lens of your own.
Are the clubs packed?
.
Yes indeed, along with an ample supply of fresh balls.
TOTUS loves fresh balls.
More like he ordered locks put on the ball washers.
Dirty Balls (old AXE Commercial)
Naaah. Just parking accident.
Weeekend! / sarc
yes, and other things will be "packed" during the weekend
obama is going on vacation... wtf??
Pres. O is heading to Key Largo, FL for a vacation..his THIRD of the year. What a LIIIFEEEEE this guy who scored the role of U.S. President has huh? He can give a teleprompter speech from a Manatee or something after he gets instructions.
Truman?
Humphery Bogart?
"Psy ops to President Putin"?
To understand logic you must also turn over the opposite card to see if it disproves the theory.
The guy who invented that was called "Aristotle" and he was the personal tutor to a kid named Alexander the Great. "And yes you can call me stupid."
Thanks god he plays golf! He might push some buttons accidentally. Hope he improves the swing!
He's just moving into position in case shit goes bad and he needs to cut and run to Cuba.
The more vacation this faggot takes, the better.
Gee, didn't King Puttmoas draw a red line there or something?
I'm not sure ramming a fence with a truck constitutes "storming".
And if 20 russians can overwhelm 100 ukranian soldiers, well then you already know how it's going to go down.

Barry might have to wear big boy pants this weekend...
Not much choice...the mom jeans now heavily soiled

I thought Obama and Kerry said the situation was resolved.
Yes wheel can?
Haha, why is this dv?
if that's directed at me then i say "very good question."
the CIA came out to deny that "they were surprised as much as DoD."
Somebody wasn't surprised however...and Secretary of State Kerry looks to have in that Skinner Box too. I mean answer me this: was there ever a diplomatic solution here? On either side?
It's "too perfect"...know what I mean?
Sorry, I should have spelled it out, just meant, why is banzai's photo downvoted?
As to your point I think that conspiracy is often overexaggerated, there is a contingent aspect to history and much of defense and intelligence is as much situational response as it is constructing destabilisation. This is, I think, why Russian intelligence always advised reading Dostoevsky rather than relying on computer models.
I mean, while there is a clear attempt at destabilisation here the outcome is far from perfect, we could end up in nuclear/world war. There is a diplomatic solution, but it would require the West to back off and stop trying to surround Russia; and after Syria and Ukraine this cannot happen with the current system.
This is about the Nabucco and having someone else besides Russia supplying gas into Eastern Europe. The whole stan pipeline wars are done. Russia won them all.
Georgia - South OssettIa won the shooting battle and Blue Stream is the secondary bypass route.
Turkmenistan - resources completely diverted westward, no need to be in Afghanistan any longer since no pipeline will be built now.
Azerbajian - Azerbajian-Georgia-Romania interconnector took those fields out play. They still are going into Eastern Europe but as LNG not compressed in a pipeline.
Kahazastan is firmly the Russian sphere of influence.
From the south
Iraq/Egypt/Qatar was supposed to hook into the Arab Gas Pipeline and go through Syria. That is blocked.
Turkey is blocked by the great wall of Kurds in all directions including Iraq and Iran except for a small sliver in Syria that the Arab Gas Pipeline was supposed to route through.
Cyprus so far is the only loss for Russia since the EU nuked their banking system and chased all the Russian money and interest angling for the Aphrodite gas field. That one is still a few years off being developed and hooked into Nabucco.
That leaves us with Ukraine from the north.
Grabbing Ukraine doesn't stop a northern access route since the South Stream project underneath the Black Sea bypasses the land route completely from the North but it does allow Ukraine gas instead of Russian gas (being blocked in the Ukraine) to feed that existing infrastructure. Other benefit is when Russia turns off the gas into Ukraine they can divert the reserves within the system accordingly.
This is the last battlefield for the Nabucco right now. Once that is done........
The next option is lift the gas export ban for the US which is exactly what they are trying to do using the typical Heglian Dialetic tactics trying to scare everyone now using cold war memes after the action aka fight in Ukraine is on they started to sell the solution lift ban and export LNG gas from the US and Canada in from the West across the Atlantic. Same reason Qatar got a smackdown by the GCC because that is their turf and they've been told to shut the fuck up and eat your peas and learn to share. I guess Qatar was the only one who didn't get the memo that the Muslim Brotherhood caliphate pipeline comedy tour and not just for the western leg towards the Nabucco has been canceled. You think they would have gotten the hint after Egypt canceled the I Love Mursi show and the Love Suez Canal Boat show for their LNG shipments through the Mediterranean then westwards towards Great Britain.
Also a little aside concerning Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkmenistan#History
Turkmenistan has taken a neutral position on almost all international issues. Niyazov eschewed membership in regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and in the late 1990s he maintained relations with the Taliban and its chief opponent in Afghanistan, the Northern Alliance. He offered limited support to the military campaign against the Taliban following the 11 September 2001 attacks In 2002 an alleged assassination attempt against Niyazov led to a new wave of security restrictions, dismissals of government officials, and restrictions placed on the media Niyazov accused exiled former foreign minister Boris Shikhmuradov of having planned the attack.
...
The year 2006 saw intensification of the trends of arbitrary policy changes, shuffling of top officials, diminishing economic output outside the oil and gas sector, and isolation from regional and world organizations China was among a very few nations to whom Turkmenistan made significant overtures.[8] The sudden death of Niyazov at the end of 2006 left a complete vacuum of power, as his cult of personality, compared to that of former president Kim Il Sung of North Korea, had precluded the naming of a successor.[8] Deputy Prime Minister Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who was named interim head of government, won the special presidential election held in early February 2007.[8] He was re-elected in 2012 with 97% of the vote.
...
Now tie the timeframe of that to pipeline wars and China now
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Asia%E2%80%93China_gas_pipeline
On 3 April 2006, China and Turkmenistan signed a framework agreement on the pipeline construction and long-term gas supply.[2] In June 2007, during his visit to China, Turkmeni President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow signed an accord to speed up implementation of the Turkmeni-Chinese gas pipeline project
...
The second line was completed by the end of 2010. The third line designed to deliver 25 Bcm/a of natural gas from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to China began construction in 2012. It is estimated that gas supply will commence from January 2014, and reach the designed throughput in December 2015, enhancing the total transmission capacity of the Central Asia-China Gas Pipeline to 55 Bcm/a. [16]
The Kazakh section of the pipeline was inaugurated on 12 December 2009 during China's president Hu Jintao's visit to Kazakhstan.[17] The whole pipeline was inaugurated on 14 December 2009 in a ceremony in Saman-Depe during Hu Jintao's visit to Turkmenistan with the leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.[18]
On 13 June 2010 China and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on branch line from Western Kazakhstan.
...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Afghanistan_Pipeline
...
In 2005, the Asian Development Bank submitted the final version of a feasibility study designed by British company Penspen. The project has drawn strong US support as it would allow the Central Asian republics to export energy to Western markets "without relying on Russian routes".
...
On 24 April 2008, Pakistan, India and Afghanistan signed a framework agreement to buy natural gas from Turkmenistan.[12] The intergovernmental agreement on the pipeline was signed on 11 December 2010
...
Guess who's rhetoric started to tone down in 2010 when it became apparent pipeline wars Turkmenistan south through Afghanistan was officially lost as far as diverting any of it eastwards.

...
Among the collection, the fullest picture of Bin Laden’s thinking emerges in a 44-page letter he wrote in 2010. He chastised followers who had reinterpreted tatarrus—an Islamic doctrine meant to excuse the unintended killing of non-combatants in unusual circumstances—to justify routine massacres of Muslim civilians. This descent into indiscriminate slaughter, he warned, had turned Muslims against the jihadi movement. Bin Laden wrote that the tatarrus doctrine “needs to be revisited based on the modern-day context and clear boundaries established.” He asked a subordinate to draw up a jihadist code of conduct that would constrain military operations in order to avoid civilian casualties.

I'm not saying correlation is causation here but something to think about not only that, they conveniently found and killed him with no body produced about a year later.
I mean answer me this: was there ever a diplomatic solution here? On either side?
disabledvet...
Nope. THERE ARE NO POLITICAL SOLUTIONS WHATSOEVER. (Diplomacy is Politics.)
That is the point. Do you believe in Political Solutions? Both PUKIN and OBAMA are EVIL. So is John Kerry. THEY ARE FUCKING PSYCHOPATHIC MONSTERS...ALL OF THEM.
And then you take offense as to the portrayal of John Kerry as a Monster???
is he related to that smug little prick david shuster that used to be on PMSNBC?
I hope they got that on dash-cam
Russian drivers do the damndest things.
100 Ukrainian troops. That's all? I bet the Russians take them without a shot being fired.
A few warning shots, a bit of a mellee with some yelling, the Russians let the Ukes yell something like slava UUU-Kray-eena and carry their flag with them and then they calm down and go for drinks.
Pass me the Taaaaaka Voooodka plllllease.
Oh hell yes. And singing university fight songs until dawn.
And a Bar Brawl or two with no lasting damage.
Hell. I hope that our Civil War goes down that easy... Now that is a CIVIL War....Going out for drinks....Cool.
I have a bad feeling that it won't. Our jerks will fire upon the civilians.
The number is not the point, otherwise they would have all gathered together in a place that had the highest probability of being defended.
The point is that Russia is now in a position saying that 100 guys cowering in an airforce depot with only broken vehicles is a threat to guys who haven't been in Russia for a generation or two.
They need a distraction or something... Maybe Putin could ride in on a bear or something?
"Maybe Putin could ride in on a bear or something?"
That right there would make up for a lot of this bullshit.
I might even support his run at the Peace Prize if he did that.
Crimea… Cry-me-a-river… 1953
Guys, I am in Europe - do you think that the USA will get involved and this war will escalate? If it does, we need the American public to march on DC and ask for an end to this madness. Would the American public do this?
If EBTs are involved millions will be there...
Funny because it's true.
Depends on what is in da teeeveee.
No, we only drone muzzie civilians these days, real war is ssooo last decade.
That's not true. We took out a bunch of Afgan soilders only yesterday.
.
Hey, it's all part of the risk involved with being a US "coalition partner".
all i want to know is will we get a vote this time.
"Or does the next trillion come with no strings attached too"?
Fuck no. There is a small window depending on sports schedule and other tv shows to get them paying attention. Thats why all my faith is put into Bushmaster and Glock.
Oblowhard is far too big a worthless pussy to take on Putin.
But if he did, my fellow average dumbass american will be more concerned with whom Kim Kardashian fucked last week, and what Oblowhard will steal from productive people to give to him/her/it.
Hey now, Kimmie ain't no slut, BITCH!
No, yes, no.
Watch the MIC futures
Re: Would the American public do this?
I think the US public was told LAST war that the best way to defeat the Evil-Doers was to go shopping.
You want to meet us at the mall?
How do you mean, US will get envolved? Look at the NATO-structure, they're involved from the very beginning.
Algo's will need to be reprogrammed with certain words blacklisted until this shit settles down.
Whoa man....even ahead of Drudge.
Drudge is too busy pondering whether Hillary had a headache last week, or Chris Christie got stuck in traffic without a bagel ... or what color the Mooch's hair is today.
I've never once read Drudge. I guess right now is a really great time not to start doing so.
Don't.. just don't
oops did not spot your /sarc tag there
The market seems to care less.
New flash: Russian mouse farted, Crimean cat has died.
Pics or it didn't happen.
BTW - O and Mrs O are in Miami, FL today and for some of the weekend in part to encourage high schoolers to seek out government sources of college debt. The WGC-Cadillac Open (pro golf) is being played at Doral. But then Doral is owned by The Donald. Well, there's always fishing.
And the scene in Key West, leave the Mrs. at the hotel...
Thank God he is going on vacation instead of doing something that concerns the United States of America.
good, cos has no business about Ukraine...
This should be good for another $10+ drop in Crimex gold.
Or more. Also, silver is down 2.6% so far today. FED/BIS are fully in control.
Until they aren't.
and the Dow is down 5...BTFD
Bullshit detected
Or else drunk Russian teenagers in a stolen truck.
They would end up taking the Ukranians on accident.
Wait a minute . Were not we allies with Russia in defeating Nazi Germany? And did we not Nuke Japan over Pearl Harbor and Russia was our ally then too ? Oh I forgot Russia was then USSR a great threat to western capitalism but now an industrial oligarchy which is a greater threat ? Could it be it's all about Empires, not nationalism, not socialism versus capitalism, not about energy, but global dominance ?
Just asking.
Bingo, how dare they protect their country while we build our empire.
I thought pro-Russian forces alredy controlled airports and main spots for over a week...
US this is not woth fighing for....you will never impose your belife of democasity in the middle of Russia... forget it... and EU too... this is an no win situation....
Yes Ukraine has som industry production, but it´s adopted to Russion standards. From Western standards they are obsolite, they have survied as a cause of cheep gas, that¨s seems to be over.
We are talking about moving a 1980 industrial society into EU...it will not work. They will all be low wages working slaves....
Poiliticans and ideas (maby bankers) are ar our worst enemies
Re: They will all be low wages working slaves
Looks like you stumbled onto a "reason" the banksters might want it?
Thar sheeeeee blows!
"Fuck Ivan, you hit fence. I told you not to drive jeep drunk."
"Uh-oh, you see guy with camera? We in trouble now."
Ukraine Pravda: "Russian armed forces invade Ukraine airbase."
Boy, this will make a great movie.
Too bad Tom Clancy won't be around to write the script.
This is the kind of script that writes itself.
OH GOOD GOD.......... HEY.... you don't supose this could be one of those things where they lie to us .....
and an always relevant tune....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsksSWOxq2Y
Deception? No. The West are the good guys, they would never lie, or snipe protestors/goat herders with headshots/Predator drones.
And there was this guy yesterday...that actually wanted me to believe the fiction posted by the Main Stream Media. He asked, "You should do some research and read about it."...as if I had not read about it. Can you believe that crap?
And he is posting on ZH??? I wonder if he was an old fashioned Gov't Agent or something. Just because I speculated a bit...about a Russian ASW being sunk in a harbor...maybe by a Nuke Submarine.
ANYTHING PUBLISHED IN THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA NEEDS TO BE TAKEN WITH A HEALTHY DOSE OF SKEPTICISM as they have been proven repeatedly to publish FICTION.
You cannot believe anything that you read. If they say the Sun is shining you need to verify that it is because 20% of the time that is even a lie.
Time for Obama to open a new box of Crayons ..............
I guess he's used up the red one from the previous box.
Maybe he could just draw a different coloured line this time!
beige?
The new red line was drawn in their 90 minute phone call... If you interrupt my vacation I'm going to...
Burnt Umber.
Its a color.
I can't take anything this guy says seriously wearing a hat like that.
No shit! Is he vietcong?
Exactly as I predicted for a Friday. the only thing keeping gold and mining stocks down is fall out from the bogus jobs report. In any case, this is playing out as your typical crisis-de-jour. Initiate crisis on Friday, have the worst of it play out through the weekend w/ a mild sell off on Monday. resolution tuesday, with market rallying the next 2 days to then collapse on Friday. In this case it was all complicated w/ the meaningless jobs report, but I suspect by the end of the day that the market will be significantly lower and gold higher.
all that said, the situation going to shit is again a friday occurance. Play out the worst over the weekend and then resolve it by trading hours in order to prop up stocks on a "relief" rally and head stomp gold. wash, rinse, repeat.
this is just a new task in regular military exercises russians and ukranians conduct together there
I thought only the French practiced being invaded.
IF you have time for a really fun eavning... these are really crazy but real docometarieis from BBC, Alan Curtis, a few years old ok. I think it´s six diffrent, but you will find them all on youtube.... we are not crazy..they are... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3gwyHNo7MI
I really liked 'The Power of Nightmares' and 'The Century of the Self'.
I wouldn't want to be long usd/jpy going into the w/e. ;-)

Ilya Somin argues there is no legal basis for Crimean secession and joinder to Russia.
http://m.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2014/03/07/crimea-...
I bet I can guess his theories regarding the founding of an ethnarchy by immigrant armed terrorists, though.
Fucking lawyers and their sophistry. Somin is a smart guy but deeply mired in an ethnoreligious identity that belies his analyses.
Can't help but notice the preponderance of Jewish authors in the opeds and columns in major papers bashing Putin and Russia. Both Ukraine and Russia are less than 2% Jewish each... So it seems odd the disproportionate amount of Jews being given bully puplits in the corporate media. Well, "odd" for those who avoid CrimeThink.
Meaningless coincidence, I'm sure. But one has to wonder if it nevertheless has some connection to the pro EU, ergo pro IMF "Ukrainian" and "Russian" oligarchs.

So much for the Pacifist Putin that brought a 227-point rally in the Dow on Tuesday!
Western leaders have now become the modern-day equivalent of Neville Chamberlains!
.
Just like Ronald Reagan?
Seriously, when are you neocons going to freshen up your stale propaganda?
Fuck the stale propaganda. When are these NeoCons going to actually pick up a weapon and go fight the wars they so dearly advocate. Stop killing other peoples kids!!!!
why can not Ukrainians split in a peaceful manner the way checks and slovaks divorced ?
Hey, WTF? Don't those Ruskies know we are trying to make another ATH for fuks sake?
i agree. There might have to be a few people moving home but it's better than trying to keep fire and water from creating steam.
