Ukraine's Military Mobilizes, Prepares For Combat: Trucks, APCs, SAMs, Howitzers, Tanks Rolling Out
Did somebody say de-escalation?
Earlier today, photos were distributed showing the latest military convoy reinforcements heading into the Crimea, accompanies by a Police car demonstrating Moscow license plate numbers, most likely providing further support to the pro-Russian forces in the peninsula.
Supposedly the trucks are carrying troops to reinforces the members of the new Crimean army, pictured below:
While at the same time along the makeshift border between Crimea and the mainland, the Pro-Russian forces are putting down minefields.
However, the Ukrainians, having already been mobilized for over a week, finally appear set to seize back the offensive:
The first clip below captured the 80th Airborne Regiment out of Lviv moving out, direction mainland, preparing to repel foreign attack.
The next video shows what are allegedly Buk SAM batteries deployed in the Donetsk region, a city in Eastern Ukraine which in the past week has swayed between Ukraine and Russian authority.
The clip below shows the 95th Airborne brigade also moving out of their barracks in Zhytomyr in western Ukraine, heading East, with an impressive deployment of trucks and APCs.

There is no indication where the Ukrainian troops are going. They may be heading south to secure Odessa and other port cities. It's clear by now they cannot do anyting about Crimea. But if the Kiev government loses southern Ukraine, there will be no navy for them.
You don't think the display is chiefly for public consumption? The vids are being aired on mainstream TV. To my untrained eyes, there is nothing here that could not be inferred. If there was a significant operation underway, one highly doubts that sensitive details would be shared openly.

In the video they are seen actually headed towards a junction which could lead them either towards Crimea or towards the port city of Novorossiysk.

that's a lot of T64's. If you're taking the time to load them all rail cars it's because they're fully loaded with ammo. Obviously the purpose is not to attack (that would suicidal)...but if dug in in the right way that really will ruin your day. Clearly the entire Region is against Russia for doing this...no shots have been fired yet so there's still time for common sense to prevail here. This is Europe however. Not a military guy but one look at the physical "structure" of Ukraine says this is not a country you want to invade "lightly." It has large interior spaces and has robust logistical infrastructure. The attack...if one is coming and lets hope not...would have to go off perfectly because any "hiccups" along the way and you could be subjected to a withering counter attack. We'll know more come Monday...I'm sure President Putin has a few tricks up his sleeve if he intends on going on all. This is not a liberation however but a full fledged invasion of a country that has been independent for 20 years "and lovin' it." They just got rid of their corrupt officials...having Russians coming in as a consequence will not go over well. They will not take lightly to any occupation and I can't think of a worse place to occupy than the Crimea where "every home a pill box."
You know what happened to Shermans and T34 when they faced Panther and Tigers? These T64 probably will face T90 if things spin out of control.
I'd also recommend to take a closer look at the trucks: teared and holey canvas covers. As if they would have been in war for years. :D This tells me, this army is not good.

Those T-64's are fucking toast against frontline Russian armor. And Russia's AT Helos ... Alligators, Hokums, Hinds and Havocs will make utter mincemeat out of them.
Actually after checking that video out, those are not T-64's or even T-64BM Bulat models that the Ukraine uses.
Those are T-80UD's or T-84's .... the slope and design of the reactive armor panels are what appears to be the distinguishing factors. (Modernized T-64's dont have double slopes on the turrets)
So they have an even better tank...going up against what appears to be BMP's led by a police car.

I never had the safety of armor or helicopter gunships, or armchair warriors and "battle plans that made any sense." The only word was "go" and the plan was "we'll figure it out when we get there." And that's exactly what this looks like to me. Luckily for me there was a "time/date certain for leaving" so we never had to take and hold territory.

Blow the bridges north & west of Kremenchuk, capture (and hold) the bridges south and east that bridge and you've crippled EU / Ukrainian lines.
Logistics is going to be the trick but then Rostov-On-Don, Krasnodar, Kursk & Volgograd are close enough to support.
