Ron Paul Asks "Can We Afford Ukraine?"
Submitted by Ron Paul via The Ron Paul Institute,
Officially, US debt stands at more than $17 trillion. In reality, it is many times more. The cost of the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq may be more than six trillion dollars. President Obama’s illegal invasion of Libya cost at least a billion dollars and left that country devastated. The costs of US regime change efforts in Syria are likely thus far enormous, both in dollars and lives. That’s still a secret.
So who in his right mind would think it is a good time to start a war with Russia over Ukraine? And worse, who would commit the United States to bail out a Ukraine that will need at least $35 billion to survive the year?
Who? The president and Congress, backed by the neocons and the so-called humanitarian interventionists!
The House voted overwhelmingly last week to provide $1 billion in loan guarantees to Ukraine. That is just the beginning, you can be sure. But let’s be clear: this is not money for the population of that impoverished country. The Administration is sending a billion dollars from US taxpayers to wealthy international bankers who hold Ukrainian debt. It is an international bank bailout, not aid to Ukrainians. And despite the escalating anti-Russia rhetoric, ironically some of that money will likely go to Russia for Ukraine’s two billion dollar unpaid gas bill!
So what happened in Ukraine? The US government and media claims that the US must save Ukrainian democracy from an invading Russian army that is threatening the country’s sovereignty. But in reality the crisis was instigated in part by US meddling. Remember the intercepted telephone call in which two senior Obama Administration officials discussed plans to replace the elected government in Ukraine with US puppets? That is exactly what happened. Is that not a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty? Is that what democracy is all about?
The Obama Administration’s policy toward Ukraine is hypocritical. The overthrow of the government in Kiev by violent street protests was called a triumph of democracy, but when the elected parliament in autonomous Crimea voted last week to hold a referendum to decide its future, President Obama condemned it as a violation of international law. What about the principle of self-determination, which is also enshrined in international law?
I have long thought that a referendum to reorganize Ukraine into a looser confederation of regions might help reduce tensions. I still believe this could help, but it seems the US government is not so enthusiastic about democracy when there is a chance for an outcome it opposes.
I strongly believe that Crimeans have every right to transfer sovereignty over their peninsula to Russia if they wish. The only question that remains is whether there will there be an honest election, and I don’t see any reason there can’t be.
The US government tells the rest of the world, “We want you to be good democrats and have elections,” but if they don’t elect the right people then we complain about it and throw them out, like we did in Egypt. In Crimea they want to have an election to determine their future. President Obama condemned those plans for a vote by saying, “We are well beyond the days when borders can be redrawn over the heads of democratic leaders.” Does he not remember that the authorities in Kiev were installed just weeks ago after a US-backed coup against the Ukrainian constitution?
Congress next week will likely vote for sanctions against Russia. Though many mistakenly believe that sanctions are a relatively harmless way of forcing foreign countries to do what we say, we should be clear: sanctions are an act of war.
Cooler heads in the United States are not currently prevailing. There is a danger of an unimaginable conflict between the US and Russia. We must demand a shift away from a war footing, away from incendiary rhetoric. We are broke and cannot afford to “buy” Ukraine. We certainly cannot afford another war, especially with Russia!

Ron Paul is the best President we never had.
you have no respect for the 1% and democracy.
Obama is the worst President we never had.
Nah, he's just a slow learner like all the others.
WOAR!!!
< freeze it!
< graft it now!
Ron Paul is currently 78 years old.
If you're a deep thinker like me you might be often asking yourself "How do we keep this guy alive long enough until the nation comes to it's senses and elects him President with the Imperial powers bestowed on this office by the Obama/Cheney regimes?".
Unfortunately we only have two options...
1) Cryogenically freeze his head when he dies... or 2) Graft it now without further delay onto Rand Pauls body
I will now let the great minds at ZH decide...
Dr. Ron Paul for Pres., Dr. Rand Paul for V.P.
"Dr. Rand Paul for V.P."
You mean that great democrat who tried to get a reporter fired (Abby Martin) for asking him....a question?
Rand Paul Tries to Have Abby Martin Fired From RT For Daring To Ask Him Question
No thanks, I'll pass.
I think I'll just pencil you in as a grafter...
Graft +1
There is also a chance Kuchinich might run, but I'm sure he'll receive an even more vile blacklist treatment from the triangle club.
Ron Paul is naive to think war is not a racket, it makes billions/trillions, from selling armaments to using them, then rebuilding what they blew up, through subsidiaries, and some into pols pockets to keep it all legal and all...tptb play both sides, hedging their bets of course, and make a fortune. Our MIC is 7 times the size of everyone else's, combined. So, no Ron Paul, there are boogie men out there that want to hit us, and good. I don't say be the worlds police and enter every conflict (or create our own), but better to be able to project power in our self defense.
This thing in Ukraine is worrysome, Pukin', has stepped on that landmine, and now cannot move his foot or be blown to smitherines. Nah, he will stay and fight for Sevastopol if he has to, it is what he does next, does he make a move on eastern Ukraine now, or hold the line at Crimea? I think the latter, but who knows, Vlad the Lad, has some big brass balls, unlike Bathhouse Barry.
Edit: I know the downers will get me on this post, just want to add, there is no greater modern day figure than Ron Paul in his quest to save the Constitution and re-establish a fiscal house! I just diverge on foreign policy, which is big right now...
Just look around the world at all the hotspots? Makes one wonder what truly comes next?
"There is also a chance Kuchinich might run, but I'm sure he'll receive an even more vile blacklist treatment from the triangle club"
Don't forget that Kucinich was a holdout on Obamacare UNTIL he was given 30 pieces of silver, and then - like so many Quislings - he was against before he was for it.
Yes, he was very vocally against Bush's war in Iraq, and I applauded him for that. (Against Obama's wars? Uh, not so much). He and Marcy Kaptur each gave several imploring special order speeches (aka campaign clips as the speeches were to an empty House) on the subject. But he remains a socialist of the highest order.
"l gave Mornay double his lands in Scotland and matching estates in England. Lochlan turned... for much less."
This was a very good post on a yahoo article thought I would share it with you, the user is omega man:

In the end maybe the true intention of these thieves was the gold deposits of Ukraine and the national treasures, such as Schythian gold artifacts and countless paintings, statues, etc which will find their way into the private collector's market. The total theft could run into tens of billions of dollars. A few ringleaders have done quite well for themselves, I guess the Italian Job will pale in comparison to the Ukrainian Job pulled off by the Kosher Mafia
Which Rand Paul would that be?

Or this one? "Amerca is and always will be an ally of Israel"
http://www.jpost.com/International/Rand-Paul-in-Israel-US-foreign-aid-cant-be-one-way
Maybe this one? “Absolutely we stand with Israel. What I think we should do is announce to the world — and I think it is pretty well known — that any attack on Israel will be treated as an attack on the United States.”

"all the young men were singing and dancing, they had me dancing around the table. I hope I was singing something that was fine — it was all in Hebrew, so I had no idea what I was singing.” So for all he knows it coulda been, 'Fuck you goy animal; you duped Stockholm Syndrome sufferers serve us until we decide to slaughter you.'
Then don't freeze Rand's head after the operation. Problem solved.
.
We are now the "Evil Empire"...........
Now???
"You" have been for quite some time...
Makes cents to me....pay the victims gas bill that is owed to the punk that beat him up.
Why don't we just pay putin.....
My guess is when he rides into the sunset in 2017 he will stay out there and be done with the waking up early crap if that is what he really does. Unlike Slick Willie who can't shut the fuck up to save his life. By he way rumor has it that Hill is too sick to run in 2016 and they will probably pocket all the cash the suckers are shelling out for her to run.
I am sorry but I am only allowed 1 up arrow. Yours deserves more.
Bammy is the best President money can buy.
Well at least you stil have one customer.
"The only question that remains is whether there will there be an honest election, and I don’t see any reason there can’t be."
I highly respect Ron Paul but...There hasn't been a single honest elections in Russia under Putin in 14 years. It seems a bit naive to expect honest elections under Putin in Crimea.
The Russian system my be corrupt but at least there are opposition groups that are real. The USA on the other hand has a two headed snake governing the nation pretending that it is a democracy.
While I don't trust the Russian Gov't (any gov't for that matter), I can say that Russia should be thankful its elections were rigged to retain Putin. It could quite easily revert back into the completely Pharisee controlled mafiaso that it was in the 90's. Yes, the element still exists, but has been better controlled by the government, rather than it controlling the government. Get it?
If you want to mindlessly like a parrot repeating empty slogans of Western propaganda, you can repeats them.
But if you want to think for yourself, please think about it:
" Why in all embassies of Western countries , the majority of Russian citizens who voted for Putin? Or do you think that in the embassies , which was attended by Western observers , voting was also " unfair "?
And why is the percentage of votes for Putin in different countries , coincided with the percentage of votes for Putin in Russia?
You just do not own the actual situation . Most citizens of Russia support Putin . It's a fact and it does not depend on what you said your favorite faux News .
It's great you know more about Russia than me (a native Russian)! Thanks for the info :)
Cooler heads in the United States?
What a novel idea....could it come to pass, I must make some coffee and lie down and contemplate this mind stretcher........Cooler Heads in the USA...almost revolutionary in concept, I know hope springs eternal but this.......stone the crows and starve the lizards....well someone had the idea and the hope?.....from little acorns. Do I have enough ground coffee to get me through this?
We can't even afford Detroit
What's a detroit?
A form of cancer.
Or the dead body that results from a cancer; just like cancer creates a shell of a body/city it once was.
Detroit is a verb synonymous with "derail", only stretch over a much longer period - typically decades.
A hole in the ground where you pour your money
"Detroit" see: "debt", "rot".
"It's crap-time in Amerika."
Isn't that more like crapitalizm time? All bitches die in the end.
Why don't the fine folk of Detroit have their own maidan style protest and see what happens.
Do you have to ask? We can't even afford to pave our shitty ass roads.
Afford? What is this word you speak of?
Edit> Never mind, I think I found the answer!
1. To have the financial means for; bear the cost of: not able to afford a new car.
Not able to afford a new war?
That Ron Paul guy sure is smart...too bad other politicians can not read the dictionary.
I guess that is why he is a Doctor.
Built more than you can afford to maintain did ya?
All kids should play the original Sim City pc game just once since thats all they do anyway. Play that game and see what happens to the budget when you build too fast. It sounds stupid but a simple game like sim city can teach some of these pharma kids a thing or 2.
Nah, I don't play that game.
Better learn Tetris...
But that is where the banksters learn how to use control-print cheat codes....
Don't lose sight of the real game, trading monopoly money for real natural resources. For the banks this is a bargain.
On the other hand Rand is arguing the opposite. Fuck him.
Ron has been more consistent, while Rand is positioning himself for better chances vs. MIC Republicans (and I say fuck 'im).
Rand is already fucked by the 1%, so no chance to be your president.
If he continues to sellout he may very well be the next president.
It's hopeless, that's why we may as well keep OBama. THEY"RE ALL THE SAME!
I keep holding some small hope that Rand will get elected President and turn out to be like the anti-Manchurian Candidate.
RP is "unelectable".
At least the last,?????, SIX TIMES???
His job was never to get elected. He served the Republican Party, his boss and master, by running interference for the awesome Mitt Romney. Who was put there in order to grease the skids for Ob's re-election.l

Hopefully he had his fingers crossed behing his back there.
If you like the results of your elections you can keep the results of your elections.......
If we like the results of your elections you can keep the results of your elections.......

One of these days historians will look back at Ron Paul and wonder what in the fuck the American people were thinking when they passed the only man with a real vision over for the likes of Zero.
Yea cause all those zero's don't add up to much in the end, but put a one in front of them and now yer talkin money.
I'd vote for Rand If Ron was veep on the ticket. Granted i'd rather it be the other way around but that ain't gonna happen.
The way I see it, the people have had 4 chances to avert the tragedy that is now. Two chances at Ross Perot, who predicted exactly where we are now, and two chances at Ron Paul. Really, it's just about too late. Can't be saved. Maybe soften the police state some, but that's about it.
Re: what in the fuck the American people were thinking
The American people are sold politicians by the same people who sell them F150 trucks and Hemi noise machines.
There's adults and there's children. Do the adults REALLY want the children voting? Hell yeah they do!
Children, would you like some Red Team war toys or some Blue Team guilt-candies? OOOOO, they want both. YEAH!!!!
Ron Paul hitting it out of the park again.
There is so much common sense here it will befuddle the left and the right.
"Does he [Obama] not remember that the authorities in Kiev were installed just weeks ago after a US-backed coup against the Ukrainian constitution?"
No, he conveniently forgot that, or never engaged two brain cells to comprehend his hypocrisy, or knows and doesn't care.
Good golfing weather right around the corner, and don't forget to pay your taxes by April 15th folks, bankers need it.
Oh he knows and does care. When master is mad the boy gets a whipping.
Re: No, he conveniently forgot that, or never engaged two brain cells to comprehend his hypocrisy, or knows and doesn't care.
The govenment of the US hasn't been moral for many generations now. It's silly to expect a government to act morally when the population of the country isn't.
The adults that run our society know exactly what they are doing. If the people don't care, why should they?
The key to success is duplicity. Adult have duplicity. Children don't.
Every red-blooded god-fearing American must be willing to sacrifice others for any reason given by CNN without question.
Is Faux or CNN beating the war drums more?
How about a simple new rule. If you vote to bomb and or invade a foreign country, you must volunteer personally or have an immediate family member volunteer for combat. Not pussy kid Bush flyboy training in the states bullshit either. Real fucking combat. It's called having skin in the game. I think that rule would kleep us out of these senseless wars for generations. Not one of these gutless turds would go themselves or send their polluted spawn to die.
Viewing everything through the lenses of economic worthiness is a Communist dream.
Viewing everything through the lenses of economic worthiness is a nightmare for humanity and most other species on the planet.
FIFY
Applying your logic, a Communist dream is a nightmare for humanity and most other species on the planet.
Why not? We can print up some fiat in no time. As long as people are still taking it we're good
Ron, Ron, Ron... if you have to ask: "can you afford it", it means you aren't a REAL Merican!
For some, wars are a solution to many problems and big economical problems are often followed by big wars.
Ron Paul need not worry about any US invasion, or support, for the Ukraine. Obama stripped out the missle defense shield from our allies. He is whittling our armed forces to a level of ineffectiveness. He told Medvedev "tell Vlad I will have more flexibiity after I'm re-elected". He is an agent of the Communists. And the repubs stand by with their collective heads up their collective asses.
Totally. We need more of those F-35s to achieve superiority. Finally! Moar money! Moar troops! Moar war! Otherwise, Canadians will invade, or else frogmen from the Ukraine will swim the Atlantic and we will have ourselves one of them amphibian invasions. I think the Navy needs a $30 Billion to prepare for that possibility. Give the contract to BAH.
contrary to popular propoganda, the F-35 is no match for the SU-37.
Stealth? sure.. in the X-band only. Su-37 has IRST and various other emitters to detect an F-35.
Not to mention it can out-turn, out-climb and had a better AoA, and costs 1/3rd or so of an F-35.
To top it all off, the Su-37's radar and missiles have a greater range than the F-35, so the engagement envelope is a lot greater. By the time the F-35 is within AMRAAM range of the Su-37, the Su-37 will have IR lock and have launched. It can then do a Mach 2.3 dash away from the missile while the F-35 is going to do a pokey Mach 1.6 and pray it doesn't die.
I think you missed the point.
literally no one who knows anything about those birds thinks the f-35 is a match for the last generation of Russian fighters.
For that matter, I'd rather be in a 20 year old f16 than an f35 in a dogfight.
literally.
why don't you slither back to Faux News, friendo?
Wow JC. Where do you find these websites?
The Vietnam war cost only $738 billion in 2011 dollars and forced the US to go off the gold standard on Aug 15, 1971. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan cost $6000 billion.
Can we really afford more wars?
Re: Can we really afford more wars?
1) Dick Cheney would say "deficits don't matter".
2) The Elysium Class - which is all that DOES matter - loves war. It's not the Elysium Kids getting their asses shot-off, after-all. AND, the 6000 billion gets SPENT on somebody. Guess who...
Of course we can. Have you seen the size of our printing press?
They wouldn't cost that much if all the $$$ went to fighting the war.
But, but, but, but, but....how can KBR get mashed potatoes over to Afgnahistan for less than $300 per pound?
Boze: "Yes we can"
Yellen: Don't you dare to stop pressing CTR-P
Unless......your goal was to destroy America, then it makes perfect sense. Mission nearly accomplished.
Again I ask.
What part of "fundimentally transform America" is unclear?
Ron Paul is the man America needed after the Lincoln assassination.
Right man, wrong time. The enemy is already inside the gate. It's not your country anymore.
WOW. Exactly true.
What's 1 billion of fiat currency between friends?
A billion is one third of what the FED puts in the market each and every market day. Wired, not printed. When it comes out and into circulation it won't buy very much.
Of course the US can afford to bail out Ukraine and take on Russia. Now just a moment...
.
Oi! Yellen! Fire up the printing presses this government needs a couple of trillion dollars of erm... spare change.
.
What do you mean the ink cartridges are dry?
.
You got Amazon to do what with their delivery drones?
.
How about creating the new money electronically?
.
No the NSA won't have to know, not if we ask them nicely, and yes... That pole-dancing video will never come to light.
.
And that's how the government of God's Country finds the money for these endeavors folks!
Ron Paul, I luv ya (so the speak), but why are you asking a question to which you already know the real answer:
As long as the US uses Dishonest Money (a fiat currency that is also the world's reserve currency), they can issue new currency ('print') till the cows come home. All they're doing is exporting dollar-debt to other countries.
Thus, the whole world is on the (dollar) hook and whatever 'expenses' and 'debt' they conjure out of thin air: "Hacio Money!" if Harry Potter ran the Fed.
I hope you all agree... it's so nice to read an article that tells it the way it is and isn't a steaming pile of
the same old propaganda the mainstream news fills the airwaves and internet with. If I was Putin and the self-annointed "U.S. world police" had plowed their way to my back door via rationalizations like "weapons of mass destruction", removing uncooperative governments and replacing them with U.S. friendly puppets, etc.,... well it suffice to say Putin's just drawing a long-time-a-coming line in the sand and is warning U.S. and NATO, don't cross it or else and BTW, you started this by inciting the revolution and saying "What, who us? We didn't do it, we didn't do it!" Sanctions are an act of war and war a product of sociopathic egomaniacs who will bet everyone's lives on a game of Risk for the chance to rule the world.
both avitars need serious caloric restriction....the roids build up the chest (better for thumpin I know) but leave the patient with too much body mass....when the roids are withdrawn it all turns to mush...that'll be $93 for an unsolicited office visit....
I like Ron Paul. I voted for him and I guess I'll vote for Rand.
But there is no "We" anymore unless he means people that would be represented if there were representation. There is also no budget, no balance sheet or any of that since the banksters stole control of the financial system and the judicial branch. The US budget has been merged via the Central Bank in with the other Western nations and corporate interests.
In other words there is no WE.
And the people that have taken over the US will kill to keep it that wayEven so if we keep pushing tthings may swing back into rule by the Constitution. Rule by globalist FRAUD will collapse and when it does the globalists will be in a lump of hurt but by then the people will be hardened and ready. Things could revert to being good in a short time.
Things could revert to being good in a short time.
From your lips... q
If a government is in debt to it's eyeballs and everyone is overloaded with false promisses that can not be met, what else is there for them to do then to wage war?
http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/KWN_DailyWeb/Entries/2014/3/10_Did_Ukraine_Just_Airlift_Its_Entire_Gold_Hoard_To_The_U.S._Fed.html
Did Ukraine just airlift its entire gold hoard to the NY FED?
Yes. That was most important. Second most important was the chevron gas contracts.
"The only question that remains is whether there will there be an honest election, and I don’t see any reason there can’t be."
There hasn't been a single honest elections in Russia under Putin in 14 years. It seems a bit naive to expect honest elections under Putin in Crimea.
Substitute Russia and Putin and 14 years with US and Obama and my entire life.

The USA cannot afford the USA let alone the Ukraine.
I think we are at a crossroads here and one of two things occurs.
One we bluster and blow and nothing happens. Russia does what they want to and the boys in DC huff and puff as if they still matter. Currently that is what is happening.
Two, this continues to escalate and we end up in a war with a country and people that have been known to stop dictator-wanna-bees.
If two begins, the powers that be have decided that what we need is a "reset" and have decided to do this by the old standby of having a big time war. That way, Putin will always be the enemy (instead of the real enemy...the bankers), they will pick up the pieces when this is over and be even more controlling and powerful, they will solve unemployment by attrition, and create a whole new world of slaves to build and make them things. Not to forget the new fiat currency they will establish to keep the slaves in line.
Otherwise expect a lot of hot air from a bunch of wimps.
you left out option 3.
3. Other countries decided enough is enough and start selling bonds. Panic ensues, and no more wars.
That would start a war quicker than anything. That is when we say, "The jig is up!" Someone hit the reset button......quick!
I gave you an up arrow because you correctly identified the enemy.
Perhaps when "Papa Paul" is finished inquiring about the economic burden we are facing setting the countless iniquities on Ukraine and the rest of the World in attempting to ignite WWIII, he can ask "Baby Paul" about his new friends since becoming a U.S. Senator and the $429 million U.S. taxpayer funding in keeping a Russian nuclear attack from happening in "The Land of Milk and Honey"!
I sure as fuck hope that Iron Dome is the first thing to get cracked with a Russian ICBM when the U.S. starts it!
hopefully youll be first
hopefully youll be first
You'll have to excuse me.
Has something to do with the equivalent of $3 billion a years we invest in that parasite that controls our Government and allows them now to come to our Country without checking their passport even though we are still in a declared state of emergency with 5 Israeli nationals who celebrated after those 3 tower(s) collapsed in Manhattan and were sent back home "no question asked"!

CAN WE AFFORD NOT TO INVADE UKRAINE? without more military spending, who are the banks going to finance?
mdbfu
Remember everyone, when Russia sends troops to its naval base in Crimea its an 'invasion'.
When the US sends troops to Cuba, it's liberation!
When the Saudi's fund terrorists, they're terrorists.
When the US fund's terrorists, they're 'protestors' and 'freedom fighters' (i prefer the latter, because they are definitely fighting against freedom)
"There is a danger of an unimaginable conflict between the US and Russia".
No there's not, the conflict is with Washington DC with true America people (with a real birth certificate). Ukrainions were just fine living peacefully. The Ukraine is not a police state like the USSA and made for a soft target to destabilize by the Stauzie State Department. What a crime it is to ferment rioting, burn down the law enforcement head quarters and kill law enforcement officers and innocent civilians, that was the work of the Obama's administration through funding of the Maidens. It is a criminal act what they did to Ukraine' people and what rhetoric lashing out at the good people of Crimea, next big O & co will send in squadrons of A/Cs and the Polish ground forces to destroy as much and build on the deceits. All the people of Crimea want is to be safe from the Obama and his crony arsonists. I'd want Russia help too!
Anyone who names their kid after a Corporation doesn't deserve to be President at any age!
Why don't we have Israel float a loan to Ukraine?
We can just loan [i.e. grant outright] the money to Israel.
There's never, ever a lack of money for Israel, boys and girls.

"A Timeline of CIA Atrocities" | By Steve Kangas
The following timeline describes just a few of the hundreds of atrocities and crimes committed by the CIA.
CIA operations follow the same recurring script. First, American business interests abroad are threatened by a popular or democratically elected leader. The people support their leader because he intends to conduct land reform, strengthen unions, redistribute wealth, nationalize foreign-owned industry, and regulate business to protect workers, consumers and the environment. So, on behalf of American business, and often with their help, the CIA mobilizes the opposition.
First it identifies right-wing groups within the country (usually the military), and offers them a deal: "We'll put you in power if you maintain a favorable business climate for us." The Agency then hires, trains and works with them to overthrow the existing government (usually a democracy).
It uses every trick in the book: propaganda, stuffed ballot boxes, purchased elections, extortion, blackmail, sexual intrigue, false stories about opponents in the local media, infiltration and disruption of opposing political parties, kidnapping, beating, torture, intimidation, economic sabotage, death squads and even assassination.
These efforts culminate in a military coup, which installs a right-wing dictator. The CIA trains the dictator’s security apparatus to crack down on the traditional enemies of big business, using interrogation, torture and murder. The victims are said to be "communists," but almost always they are just peasants, liberals, moderates, labor union leaders, political opponents and advocates of free speech and democracy. Widespread human rights abuses follow.
This scenario has been repeated so many times that the CIA actually teaches it in a special school, the notorious "School of the Americas." (It opened in Panama but later moved to Fort Benning, Georgia.) Critics have nicknamed it the "School of the Dictators" and "School of the Assassins." Here, the CIA trains Latin American military officers how to conduct coups, including the use of interrogation, torture and murder.

I thought they had a printing press.
Unlike Russia, which can invade, be on a war footing, and engage in incendiary rhetoric and actions.
When did ZH become the propaganda arm of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
2016 electon? being a bit optimistic aren't we? I have an uneasy feeling. We might not have a 2016 election. Here's why: Putin is not going to back down on the Crimea. He also is not going to back down on the Ukraine. If he allows the Ukraine to become a part of the west's orbit, he is forever screwed and he knows it. Forget Obama. Does anyone REALLY believe that devoid of testosterone little sissy is calling the shots? Of course not. He is a social worker at heart, with the feminine tendencies to "work things out" and compromise. His bosses are calling the shots. And they are the ones who I fear. I fear they are going to over reach, and get us into a nuclear war. This can even happen by mistake. When tensions are high like this, all that it takes is for a plane to be brought down by mistake {or not}, a ship fired on, etc, etc. NATO does not have the manpower or conventional weapons to take on Russia in the Ukraine, the Russian army is well acquainted with the landscape, many of it's senior officers and NCOs remember war gamming over the terrain a little over twenty years ago. How many Ukrainians would fight with the Russians against NATO? Many more than these think tank idiots could ever imagine. One thing is for sure; we will not be "welcomed as liberators", just like we weren't in Iraq. Once one side saw that it was losing, the temptation to "just use tactical nukes" becomes too inviting. Once that happens, tit for tat begins, then things escalate to full on ICBM lauches. I pray I am wrong about all of this. but I believe we are living in the quiet before the storm times right now. Unless this thing is put to bed SOON, some way, we will enter dangerous territory. Maybe that is what all of those black plastic cartons are for.
